Andhra Pradesh speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu inaugurated an Anna Canteen in Narsipatnam on Wednesday. The speaker emphasised the govt's commitment to providing affordable food to the poor, inspired by the former chief minister. the late N T Rama Rao.
Speaking at the inauguration, the speaker said, "Our govt's goal is to provide a full meal to the poor.
As part of this initiative, we have launched over 200 Anna Canteens across the state, where a full meal is provided for just Rs 5." He added that the govt aims to provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner at this affordable price to every needy person.
The speaker said the Hare Krishna organisation has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing these canteens. The govt plans to establish such canteens in every constituency to cater to the needs of the poor.
After the inauguration, the speaker, along with district collector Vijaya Krishnan had lunch at the Anna Canteen.
Several other dignitaries, including the municipal chairperson Bodapati Subbalakshmi, RDO Jayaram, municipal commissioner Surendra, Ch Padmavati, ZPTC Ramanamma, and councillors, were present at the event.
