Shimla: Two persons drowned in the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district on Tuesday near Chouru village where they were taking bath in the river after the immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idols. As the devotees were stepping out the river, they found that Nalti resident Vinay Kumar was missing and Soni Kumar of Chouru area jumped into the river to search for him.
But, as Soni himself got trapped in one of the idol’s iron bars, it led to his drowning.
Though the rescuers later fished out Soni from the river, he was declared brought dead at the Nadaun hospital. TNN
