⭐ My experience with Teakora was very disappointing
I ordered from Teakora because the company presents itself as a “proudly Canadian-owned kitchenware brand,” and supporting Canadian businesses was an important part of my decision to purchase.
Unfortunately, one of the utensils — the soup ladle — arrived broken. I contacted Teakora approximately two days after receiving my order and requested a return and refund.
What surprised me came next.
Although Teakora presents itself as a Canadian company and lists a Toronto address, I was instructed to return the entire set to Yiwu Cujia Trade Co., Ltd. in Zhejiang Province, China, at my own expense. I was also advised about potential customs clearance costs.
I understand that a Canadian-owned company may manufacture products overseas or use international fulfillment centres. That is not my issue.
My issue is transparency.
Had I clearly understood before purchasing that returning an order — even one involving an item that arrived broken — could mean paying to ship the merchandise to China and potentially dealing with customs charges, I would not have placed the order.
After this happened, I also discovered other reviews describing similar concerns regarding international fulfillment and returns. That was particularly disappointing because I specifically chose this company believing I was supporting a Canadian business.
I have now formally contacted Teakora asking for a prepaid return label or a Canadian return address and a full refund, and I am giving the company an opportunity to resolve the matter.
I will update this review if and when Teakora resolves my complaint.
For Canadians intentionally trying to support Canadian businesses, clear information before we purchase matters. 🇨🇦
