I have been in the process of purchasing a £615,000 "premium" property with Fitchett by Bloor Homes at Elgar Park, Worcester. While you expect a flawless customer journey and high-end finish at this price point, the entire experience has been a battle of administrative confusion, mis-selling, and substandard quality control.
The stress began on day one during the original sales discussions, where members of the sales team repeatedly provided conflicting misinformation regarding what specifications were and were not included with the plot.
This lack of transparency has now been compounded by masonry defects across the property, which I had explicitly verified by an independent RICS surveyor. The front elevation has extensive horizontal mortar colour banding forming a harsh, two-tone line prominently visible from over 50 metres away when driving past. From a distance, the mortar looks completely murky, leaving the entire wall looking heavily discoloured rather than uniform. The side elevations suffer from prominent brickwork colour banding and visible gaps left in the mortar joints. The site team at the time explicitly acknowledged this colour variation on site, admitting to me that it was down to building the house in bad weather.
In summary, this finish directly breaches NHBC Technical Guidance. Under NHBC Standards Chapter 9.1 (Aesthetic Quality), fairfaced masonry must be reasonably uniform in color and finish and free from excessive color banding. Furthermore, under NHBC Chapter 6.1, site management is contractually required to protect freshly laid masonry from the elements to ensure consistent curing. Weather is absolutely not an excuse for poor site control or an unacceptable finish.
When these defects were first raised, the site team explicitly acknowledged the faults. Their original advice was a formal commitment that they would clean the masonry and professionally tint any remaining colour differences at the end of the build. However, when I pushed for this agreed work to be scheduled earlier so it could be verified, the site team completely backpedaled on their promise. They carried out a surface clean, but entirely refused to proceed with the tinting, suddenly claiming the finish was 'fine.'
After I contacted Bloor’s Head Office to complain, I find it highly telling that the Senior Sales Manager did not call me back from her HQ desk. Instead, she waited until she was physically sitting inside the site sales office to place the call, the following day—I'll leave the readers of this review to read between the lines on that one. During that call, she simply doubled down on the site team's weather excuses, stating an internal specialist deemed the brickwork 'as good as it will be'—despite visible gaps still existing in the mortar joints. No copy of this report has been provided. Frankly, a blind man could see that this finish is a result of poor workmanship.
Most shockingly, the sales team explicitly stated to me that because the NHBC has passed off the house as it is, it does not matter if I get an independent snagging report completed by a RICS-qualified surveyor upon completion—they still will refuse to fix it.
I don't know if the management team has watched the videos of independent snagging inspectors online picking up shockingly poor work on modern new builds, but being told that a professional report will be openly ignored gives me zero confidence that any remedial work on any aspect of this house would ever be fixed.
Rather than delivering the professional industry fixes they originally promised to secure a £615k sale, the site office simply accepted a verbal withdrawal and removed the house from Rightmove within hours. It is deeply concerning that a '5-star builder' would break a prior commitment and lose a committed buyer ready to instruct solicitors rather than manage their site team properly.
To end - if any readers and prospective buyers of Plot 252 wants photos of the brickwork, you can type my name into Facebook and reach out to me directly and Ill happily send you copies before you commit to purchasing this property in future.
Mandy and the team have been amazing in helping me secure my dream home. From patience and persistence in waiting for my sale to go through and doing everything they can to make sure the chain is moving and all in place. Including giving sound advice and even after completion. The check ins and any problems are never too much for the guys to fix and sort. Honestly. Thank you !
Amazing experience with Bloor homes for buying my first home with my partner. We couldn’t be happier and the whole process was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. A special thank you to Cleo from Frankley Park who was so helpful and kind and supportive.
Highly recommend anyone looking to buy a home to go with Bloor!
Anita was an excellent guide and was very knowledgeable about the properties we viewed. Everything was clearly explained and our questions answered.
Exceptional experience with Bloor Homes! What started as a simple home viewing turned into us becoming homeowners, when we least expected it. 🏡❤️
A huge thank you to Lewis for his amazing support, kindness and outstanding service. The thoughtful gifts and packages were the perfect touch.
Forever grateful to Bloor Homes and Lewis for making our dream a reality! ✨
We had a really positive experience with Tracy. She was extremely helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable throughout our visit. She gave us a fantastic tour of the property and took the time to show us the different floor plans and layouts available across the various types of properties on the development. She was also very patient in answering and clarifying all of our questions in detail, which we really appreciated.
Bloor Homes in Binfield offers a great variety of new-build homes, and we particularly loved the quiet and peaceful residential village feel of the area. Tracy made the whole experience enjoyable, informative and stress-free, and we really appreciated her friendly, professional and approachable manner.
Thank you, Tracy, for making our visit such a pleasant experience!

Being a first time buyer, I have been unsure of a few things throughout the whole process but Lewis at Somerby View has been exceptionally helpful and answered any questions I have had. The customer service has been great from giving updates on how the home is doing and also just regularly checking in to ensure I have no unanswered questions. Absolutely delightful service from start to finish. Every interaction I've had with both Julie and Damon has been phenomenal and I feel I've been incredibly well looked after. This is my first time buying a property and I was told it would be very stressful? My experience has been anything but! All thanks to their hard work and excellent customer service.
Would have given six stars if it were an option.

Outstanding Service from Julie and Damon at Bloor Homes - 5 Stars!
We recently purchased our new home with Bloor Homes and we cannot praise Julie and Damon enough.
From our very first viewing to getting the keys, their professionalism, kindness and attention to detail was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. They kept us fully informed at every stage, answered all our questions promptly, and made what could have been a stressful process feel smooth and genuinely enjoyable.
Julie and Damon went above and beyond to make sure the house was perfect for our family's needs. Their warm, friendly approach made us feel valued as buyers, not just a plot number.
We are absolutely delighted with our new home and would highly recommend Bloor Homes, and especially Julie and Damon, to anyone looking to buy.
Thank you both so much!

Dubious planning. I was told that Abingdon planning no longer accepted plans for double garages. This is not true, especially for Didcot. The reality is that garden sizes are restricted as the area is on a flood plain. So Bloor homes has chosen to give people either no garages or single garages - even for 4 bedroomed houses. It has chosen this so that more houses can be fitted onto the site. It also means that new home owners CANNOT extend, put in a conservatory or erect any structure that will affect water run off.
Abingdon should take the opposite side of the planning portal and allow only construction that could at a future date support garages, conservatories and out buildings. By allowing the minimum size gardens per house construction there is no possibility of improving outside of loft conversions. Have any of you actually tried carrying a child up 3 stories, or worse getting a geriatric owner to somehow fit a stair lift onto the tiny staircases in these houses?
Very short term gain

We recently purchased our first home in the UK from Bloor Homes at Newport Vale, and our experience has been exceptional from start to finish.
While looking for our new home, we were also considering several other developers, but the outstanding service we received from Hayley Adams (Sales Advisor) and Paul Cabeza-West (Senior Sales Advisor) made Bloor Homes the clear choice for us.
As first-time buyers in the UK, we were unfamiliar with many aspects of the process, but Hayley and Paul guided us through every stage with incredible patience, kindness and professionalism. They always took the time to answer our questions, explain each step and the timelines clearly, and made sure we felt informed and supported throughout the entire journey. Their approach gave us real confidence and made what could have been an overwhelming process feel simple and reassuring.
The excellent service continued after completion. Jamie has been fantastic from the moment we received our home. He is always approachable, responsive and genuinely willing to help. Whenever something needs attention, he takes ownership of it and makes sure it is properly followed through, which we really appreciate.
Thanks to Hayley, Paul and Jamie, what could easily have been a stressful experience became incredibly smooth and straightforward.
A huge thank you to the entire Bloor Homes Newport Vale team for making the purchase of our first UK home such a positive and memorable experience. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

We had such a fabulous experience buying our new build from Bloor. Paul, Nicola and Luke couldn’t have been more helpful throughout the whole process, from helping us design our space with choices to chasing solicitors to take the stress off our shoulders. Everytime we spoke to them they were friendly, helpful and just overall a pleasure to work with. There knowledge of the development and amazing communication they built with the site team meant all of our questions were always answered. I cannot thank them enough as we look forward to moving into our family home.

Before we came down to Elsenham Park with Bloor Homes we viewed many different new builds in the surrounding areas with Bovis, Bellway, Countryside, Charles Church & Ashberry and none of these developers came close to the customer service we experienced at Bloor Homes.
We primarily dealt with Dougie, who me and my wife have come to see as more of a friend than our sales representative. We also dealt with Melanie & Brad who were great. Dougie showed us around the show homes and his knowledge and understanding of the development was very impressive, no question was left unanswered and you can see he really cares about his customers and his job. That is the same for all of the sales team, they know the development inside out.
We unfortunately missed out on securing our original home with Bloor due to time constraints and the length of our chain which myself and my partner were gutted about. However following progression in our chain, Bloor reached out to us with another house type we were also interested and they kindly allowed us an early bird reservation due missing out on the previous home.
This is the home we have recently exchanged on and we have had build updates weekly from the sales team which is great. We cannot recommend Bloor enough! The customer service is impeccable and the quality of the homes speak for themselves.

Stapleford Heights staff are incredible. From the moment you first go into the sales office Tara is able to answer virtually every question you can imagine. Her and Tanitia helped the whole way through the process of buying my first home and no question was ever too silly or too obvious. The site team have been so kind and helpful too particularly Gina and Charley. It's made a very big step a lot easier.

I’ve had a really fantastic experience buying on the Kings Hill Estate through Bloor Homes. Every member of the team has been incredibly communicative and helpful, from Sales (Thankyou to Jake, Daisy, Janet and Stuart!) to my fantastic site managers (Thankyou to Laws and Peter!). I really feel like they personally care about my customer experience and want me to be happy with the process and my house. They’ve dealt with all my questions and queries (and there have been a lot!) very well and they all get back to me very quickly. I can’t recommend this company enough and I am so glad I bought through Bloor over other new build developers that I considered.

We cannot thank the sales team at Thurston Grove enough for getting us into our new home. Moving across the country from Cornwall to Suffolk is stressful enough, but our buying journey was far from straightforward—this was the third home we reserved with Bloor Homes after two previous chains collapsed.
Through all the pressure, Nicola, Paul, and Luke went completely above and beyond. Nicola was amazing at managing our reservation and guiding us through the options with total efficiency and care. Paul’s thorough knowledge of the development gave us massive confidence during the build. Luke was right there onsite on our moving day, helping us sort out an unexpected and stressful complication that arose.
Where other developers might have lost patience, this team showed genuine empathy, dedication, and professionalism. They turned a difficult situation into a brilliant experience, and we are so grateful for their support.

Ben is an attentive sales person who has guided us expertly through the purchase of our new property. No question is a silly one and he’s put us at ease through the (almost!) completed process from start to finish.
