The Battle of Krongar was a battle of the Psychic Awakening.[1]

The battle saw the Space Wolves under Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane attempt to locate and slay the infamous Ork Warboss Ghazghkull Thraka. Blackmane eventually managed to find Thraka on the planet Krongar.[1]

During the ensuing battle, Ghazghkull deliberately separated both himself and Ragnar by detonating explosives which blocked the entrance to an Imperial cathedral with debris. In the subsequent duel, both sides fought bitterly but the Wolf Lord slowed Ghazghkull by cutting the hydraulic cabling to his armor. This did not fully stop Ghazghkull, and he crushed Ragnar in his claw. However while horribly wounded, the Wolf Lord sapped up enough strength to decapitate Ghazghkull with his Frost Blade. Ragnar lifted Ghazghkull's head up high and howled in victory, but later was rendered into a death of near-death by his wounds. Between life and death, Ghazghkull lamented that there was nobody left to bring back Makari now and that his work was still unfinished.[3]

For 10 days and nights, Ghazghkull lay dead[2]. Only the heroics of Ragnar's Great Company saw him rescued, and after days of surgery he awoke as a Primaris Space Marine. Ragnar then returned to Krongar to ensure Ghazghkull was truly dead. To his horror, the beast still lived thanks to the machinations of Grotsnik.[1][3]
