Dark Eldar Civil War
|
The Dark Eldar Civil War is an ongoing conflict being waged since the formation of the Great Rift.
Overview
Though always beset by violence and strife, the Dark Eldar realm of Commorragh has become particularly volatile since the Great Dysjunction that arose following the formation of the Great Rift.[1] Many Dark Eldar suddenly began to hear the whispers of Ynnead; while many resisted the calls, others began to covertly or openly question their ancient ways and sympathize with the newly emerged Ynnari.[2] Seeking to counter the Ynnari influence that spread in the Dark City, Supreme Overlord Asdrubael Vect began manipulating many assets within Commorragh, seeking to eliminate Yvraine and her sect without being seen as openly murdering the Prophets of Ynnead. As such, Commorragh erupted into large levels of violence as various Kabals beset pro-Ynnari factions without even realizing Vect was behind such acts. One such example was the Kabal of the Lords of Iron Thorn eliminating the Kabal of Poisoned Hope. Vect also used third party brokers to put bounties on Yvraine's and her followers heads, creating entire hunting expeditions by assassins and bounty hunters in Commorragh. In truth, Vect needed little to push the city towards strife as the Dark Eldar require sparse cause to murder one another.[1]
While Vect managed to destroy large portions of pro-Ynnari factions within Commorragh, entire sub-realms of the Dark City nonetheless fell under Ynnari control. These were fortified and became separate enclaves in their own right.[1] Eventually, it became an open secret in the Dark City that Vect sought to destroy any Ynnari supporters; many of them responded by either hiding their beliefs or fleeing into realspace.[2]
One temporary refuge for the followers of Ynnead was the Port of Widows, a major Dark Eldar base near Commorragh. It was initially captured by the rebellious Cult of the Jade Labyrinth under Kysthene. They were reinforced by other Ynnari supporters, including the Shrine of the Slit Throat and Striking Scorpions of the Shrine of the Veiled Threat. The Kabal of the Bladed Lotus under Archon K’shaic launched a major counter-attack to destroy the rebels and retake the Port of Widows, but the operation derailed when large sections of the kabal under K’shaic's son Naeddre revolted and joined the Ynnari. K’shaic was killed, and the remaining anti-Ynnari members of the Kabal of the Bladed Lotus retreated under the Archon's older son Qeine. Using this opportunity, the weakened pro-Ynnari forces reorganized, and later evacuated the Port of Widows to leave for realspace.[2]
