"Black Digitron" was mixed in during its growth process, resulting in it taking on this black form. It is more resilient and takes less damage as compared to normal Gaogamon, at the expense of its speed. Its Special Moves are approaching the opponent at a speed faster than the eye can see and unleashing its "Dash Double Claw", and biting the opponent with its sturdy teeth, not letting go until they collapse (Gaoga Hound). Black Gaogamon was abandoned by their owner in the mountains because they refused to hurt others prior to "Nirinso". To survive, they attacked hikers in the mountain and ate their e-Pulse, though because they didn't want to hurt anyone, they never inflicted them with Cold Heart and tried to get their victims to run before they were hurt. Torn between needing to eat to live and not wanting to hurt others, Black Gaogamon was left in a semi-berserk state, and ultimately wished to be deleted. After fighting the Glowing Dawn, Black Gaogamon attempted to consume all of their e-Pulse to delete themself, only for Sawashiro Kyo to force them to consume his e-Pulse. Together with the Baby I Digimon Kyo was taking care of, they convinced Black Gaogamon that everyone, including them, deserved a second chance. Because of that, Black Gaogamon didn't delete themself, and instead devolved into Botamon and separated from their Sapotama.

In "The Other Overseer!", after Trailmon C-89's death, Inui Yuu gets angry and forces Gaomon to dark evolve into Black Gaogamon. He proceeds to violently kill Mummymon and his Commandramon followers, before finally returning to Wanyamon.
