What it's thinking is difficult to understand because it is taciturn and its facial expressions are concealed, but it is a dangerous being that if attacked will brandish its weapon and completely beat down the opponent, and if cornered will start randomly firing its cherished gun, "Obelisk". Its Signature Move is coiling the bandages on both of its arms around the opponent, like a snake (Snake Bandage). Its Special Move is summoning ghosts to drive its opponent into maddened death (Necrophobia). Mummymon is a hybrid composed of data and human DNA, created by Oikawa Yukio. As a hybrid, he is capable of transforming from his Digimon form into a more humanoid form, albeit with an odd physique; he has gray skin, one golden eye and a wide mouth full of sharp, shark-like teeth, as well as wide shoulders and long hands and forearms.

Mummymon is one of the few Digimon that supported the X-Digimon, alongside his friends Wizarmon and Silphymon, and works with War Greymon (X-Antibody). He is a bit gruff, but kindhearted, and his main concern is the safety of his friends. Mummymon and Wizarmon found DORUgamon in the scrapyard after his battle with Omegamon. Mummymon was reluctant to take the unconscious Digimon to their hideout, and after speaking to War Greymon (X-Antibody), he realized that he was right to be worried, as the Royal Knights were looking for DORUgamon. Worried about Wizarmon's safety, he tried to dissuade his friend from taking care of DORUgamon, but Wizarmon insisted. When their hideout was attacked by a hoard of Death-X-DORUguremon, Mummymon tried to convince his friend to flee, but Wizarmon insisted on protecting DORUgamon, saying that he wouldn't leave a friend. Touched by Wizarmon's words, Mummymon decided to stay behind and fight, and he participated in the battle against the Death-X-DORUguremon. He was last seen as the Digital World was being deleted, standing with his friends on a small floating piece of land. It is unknown what happened to him, but as he was with Tokomon (X-Antibody), who survived the deletion of the Digital World, it can be assumed his fate was the same.

Mummymon was a denizen of the ancient Digital World that survived to the modern day. He recognizes Ancient Sphinxmon and its ruler Pharaohmon, deeming the latter to be a sufficient threat to be never unleashed into the modern world.

In "The Mystery of the Museum", Mummymon was capturing humans it saw sighing with weariness to mummify them, believing it would cure them and give them eternal life after having seen the mummification methods of the ancient Egyptians in a museum. After a brief fight with Betel Gammamon, Amanokawa Hiro explains that this method doesn't work, and that humans cannot resurrect after death. After the fight, Mummymon decides to learn how to heal humans in real hospitals, and Hiro asks him to be careful to not be discovered. Since then, Mummymon became one of the trio's most prominent allies in solving cases related to dangerous Digimon.

Hiro sought his help in "Moaning Bug" as a Digimon Doctor, to treat whatever had driven Gammamon, Jellymon and Angoramon mad. Mummymon was incapable of answering that however, and instead only scared the humans even more, but he later investigated the scales and helped them find a solution alongside Clockmon.

Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro went to see Mummymon in "Whispers of the Dead" after human doctors could not tell him why he kept hearing Sepikmon's voice. Mummymon knew about Sepikmon, and offered Kiyoshiro a medicine he made to send Digimon into a near-death state to calm them down, though it had the opposite effect and excited them instead. Later, after Kiyoshiro went into a near-death state after hitting his head on the pavement, he was taken to Mummymon by Betsumon. Mummymon was ready to give up on him, but Jellymon decided to take the medicine to defeat Sepikmon herself instead.

Hiro and Kiyoshiro brought Tsukiyono Ruli to him in "Gluttony" when she fell victim to Quartzmon's parasitic abilities, where all electronic functions in the hospital inexplicably shut down and a small Quartzmon copy emerged from Ruli to deliver food to the main Quartzmon. While trying to reach out to Quartzmon, Mummymon was in contact with Hiro and realized that the black particles it was unleashing are actually mini-parasites that sap humans out of vital energy.

A Tamer-owned Mummymon (in its human disguise) appears as part of the audience of the Battle Stage in "Welcome to the Digimon Net Game!!".

Another Mummymon was among Barbamon's forces. He ordered the Commandments to fire upon Tatsuno Tsurugi's group, telling them not to let Tsurugi's group into Light City. He is killed by Black Gaogamon after the Commandramon he led destroyed the Trailmon C-89 that aided Tsurugi's group in "The Other Overseer!".

Mummymon is the Perfect form of the evolution line for Digitama #79. Its Digitama can be obtained by Jogressing two Digimon from the Moon Millenniumon (#37) evolution line. It is notable for having stats greatly exceeding those of most Digimon available in the game, including Ultimate Digimon.
