Resurrected through the dark arts, it is the king of Undead Digimon which has obtained mighty powers. Originally a fiendish computer virus which destroyed the computer data it absorbed, it possessed the ability to revive the destroyed data as malignant computer viruses. As it possesses an extremely cruel and cunning personality, it is exceedingly difficult to destroy this Digimon. However, it cannot demonstrate its powers outside of the night, and its power is cut in half during the daytime. Its Special Move is manipulating a countless swarm of bats, and beginning a surprise attack (Night Raid).

Appearances[edit]

Anime[edit]

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Voice Actor: Japanese Ohtomo Ryuzaburo | English Richard Epcar

Vamdemon is one of the main antagonists of the series. He was presumably killed by Angewomon, but he was revived and evolved into his Ultimate form, Venom Vamdemon.

Digimon Ghost Game[edit]

Voice Actor: Japanese Morikawa Toshiyuki | English Brian Timothy Anderson

Vamdemon first appears in "The Crimson Banquet", in the guise of a CEO and businessman called "Aviel Kyogoku" (アビエル京極 Abieru Kyōgoku), who owns a company called "Scarlatto Vento" (スカルラット・ヴェント Sukaruratto Vento, abbreviated as SV).[N 2] He uses his creations (blood-themed cosmetics, jewelry, and desserts) to attract digital influencers – all of them being young women – and then attack them by sucking their blood and turning them into zombies/vampires. Sangloupmon (in the guise of the dog "Pachepa"), Matadrmon and Dracumon appear as his allies.

Tsukiyono Ruli finds out the truth after being surprised by Dracumon, her old foe. Amanokawa Hiro and co. arrive at SV building to help her, but they are surprised by Vamdemon's Night Raid, which almost lets Gulus Gammamon overwrite Betel Gammamon's consciousness due to his despair towards the suffering caused to Hiro, as one of the bats injected a virus in Betel Gammamon that caused Hiro to feel the same pain he did.

Despite the unbearable pain Vamdemon caused, Hiro takes control of the situation and makes Betel Gammamon evolve into his Perfect form, Canoweissmon, finally defeating Vamdemon, who then escaped by turning into bats, and reversing his attacks towards his victims.

Digimon Beatbreak[edit]

Voice Actor: Japanese Yoshino Hiroyuki

Vamdemon was a rogue Digimon that appeared in "Dangerous Fandom". It disguised itself as an actor known as "Urato Ryuki" (浦戸リュウキ Urato Ryūki)[N 3] to feed on the e-Pulses of women. To do this, it would stage fan meet-and-greets where only women can participate. It would then choose a number of women and throw them into its own Mirror World, themed after a hauntyard. There, it would claim that it will let them go if they manage to escape back to the Real World through gates it opened. In actuality, it had no intent to let any of its victims escape (with the "gate" being a fake created by their Familiar Bats), and only gave them false hope so it could savor on the e-Pulse of those who are in despair. Vamdemon would then feed on the women, causing enough damage to instantly inflict them with Cold Heart, with Vamdemon then keeping their Cold Hearted bodies as part of its collection. The police tried to investigate believing that it was merely foul play, but since the police officer in charge of the investigation got Cold Hearted as well, they backed off from the incident and handed it over to the Ministry of Civil Protection.

Kutsuwada Maki sent Glowing Dawn to deal with the incident, as an unknown bounty whose price could increase. To do so, Sakuya Reina and Pristimon infiltrated one of "Urato Ryuki's" women-only meetings. Rose Woodville did as well, thinking Vamdemon could be connected to GIFT. Both of them were sent to its Mirror World and made part of the hunt alongside two other women who were fans of Urato against their will, with Pristimon separated from Reina to be killed by a trio of Sangloupmon. Vamdemon sent its Familiar Bats to hunt the women down, though Reina and Rose managed to repel them even without their Digimon. Vamdemon then attacked Reina directly and nearly Cold Hearted her, before Pristimon managed to escape from the Sangloupmon in-time and save her. While Vamdemon was confident that neither a human nor an Adult Digimon like Wolvermon could defeat them, they'd ultimately fall in one blow to the silver brooch Reina carried, shot at them by Wolvermon's Tomboy Blaze, causing them to revert into Zurumon and separate from their Sapotama.

According to Kuonji Makoto, the silver brooch worked because Reina thought that it worked, indicating that it was affected by human thoughts to a certain extent.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger Prelude[edit]

At least one Vamdemon appeared in the human world during the Digimon attack, 3 years prior to the start of the game.

Manga[edit]

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01[edit]

Lord Vamdemon guarded the V-Tamer Tag of Shadows in his castle. He and Bakemon used their Nightmare Wave technique to try and pit Tachi and Zeromaru against each other. However, this technique was broken when Taichi had Gabou upload Bakemon's data to Zeromaru to act as a vaccine for the poison. Using his Familiar Bats, he blinded Zeromaru with their venom, but Taichi used himself as bait after telling Zeromaru to aim for his where his voice was, killing Lord Vamdemon.

His leftover hatred would then evolve into Venom Vamdemon prior to "Neo Attacks!!!".

Novel[edit]

Digimon Liberator[edit]

Oumi Reina played an EX8-060 Vamdemon from her hand in "GODDESS FROM THE ICE AGE", giving Kazuki Suzune a lot of memory. To fight it, Suzune evolved her Partner Digimon, Yukidarumon, into EX8-023 Polar Bearmon, then used its When Evolving effect to stop it from unsuspending or using When Evolving effects until the end of Reina's turn, as Vamdemon had no evolution sources. Reina answered by Blast Evolving an unseen Digimon into EX8-062 Piemon ACE, which instantly deleted Polar Bearmon by lowering its DP to 0 through four -2000 DP effects in a row. Because Piemon was a Nightmare Soldiers who was just played, EX8-060 Vamdemon's effect then triggered, allowing Reina to Jogress Evolve them into EX8-064 Voltobautamon.

Upon being defeated, he wonders if losing to human children is his destiny and accepts it, but nonetheless demands a rematch to change said destiny.

After Deserted Island's Battle Arena is cleared, Beginner City's Rosemon will send the player to Dark City to defeat a group of troublemakers that appeared there. Said group is led by a second Vamdemon. He's looking for his sweetheart, and to do so, he wants to enlist strong men and plans to gather them by hosting a Haunted Arena in Dark City. He thinks the player wishes to serve him, and while expecting him to be weak based on his appearance, names him head servant nonetheless. He still expects the player to lose in the Arena, but also wants him to learn from it. As such, he serves as the last opponent of the Haunted Arena, where he tells the player that he's too busy to play around but will make an exception, though nonetheless he still expects the player to lose against him. He uses the Nobleman of Darkness deck, a Black/Darkness deck with 5 attack, 3 defense and 3 evolution speed, which possesses 2 super dangerous cards, which are Dark Sevens and Rosemon's Seduction. It also has the joke card, Fake Sevens. Upon being defeated, he feels humiliated about it as he takes it as if he was being told to forget about his sweetheart, and demands a rematch.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

Voice Actor: Japanese Ohtomo Ryuzaburo

Vamdemon is the third major antagonist of the game, following the same role he had in the anime, including his death and revival as Venom Vamdemon.

Vamdemon is the thirty-sixth obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 30, "Shining Wings! Garudamon". As in the anime, Birdramon will evolve into Garudamon before the battle for the first time, and will stay in the form for free during the battle. He can deal multiple hits to one party Digimon with Bloody Stream and deal multiple hits to all the Party Digimon and heal himself with Night Raid. Upon being defeated, he drops the Continuous Attack DigiPiece, which allows the equipped Digimon to use the eponymous attack to attack a random target two times.

He is also the 54th obligatory boss of the game, fighting the Chosen Children at the end of Episode 47, "She Descends! Angewomon!". As in the anime, Tailmon will evolve into Angewomon before the battle for the first time, and all Partner Digimon will join the battle in their highest forms. He can deal multiple hits to all the party and drain HP with Night Raid, multiple hits to one Digimon with Bloody Stream, or damage to one Digimon, Break, Shock, Skill Seal, lower HP to 1 and lower defense with Dead Scream. He attacks twice per turn thanks to his Continuous Action passive ability. After being defeated, he drops the Focus DigiPiece, which allows the user to perform the attack of the same name which raises the user's attack and defense two stages.

Vamdemon and Pico Devimon serve as the final bosses of the optional Digital Dungeon: ε, where they fight the Chosen Children together. Defeating them grants the player an ATK↓↓ Chip Ω and a DEF↓↓ Chip Ω. During this fight, apart from his boss moveset, Vamdemon will also use Status Reset to lower the increased stats of one Partner Digimon.

Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode[edit]

A Vamdemon is used by a GIGO Company employee for the "Promotion Chance [3F]" Free Battle at the Colosseum. Apart from moving on to the next floor, this awards Taiga the Gas Mask accesory. Another is fought in the 20th floor Free Battle: "One last fight", alongside its Tamer, Heir. There, it attempts to take revenge on Taiga, only to be defeated, so it decides to go back to the underworld, though it still swears to defeat Taiga someday.

Voice Actor: Japanese Nemoto Cota (Partner Kemonogami)

Vamdemon is the Partner Kemonogami of Shinonome Kaito. From Part 6 onwards, when Dracumon scolded Kaito for angering Shinonome Miu with his continued efforts to baby her, Kaito insists that he does it to protect her, not to win her over. A Kiwimon attacks them, and Dracumon and Kaito insist to Momotsuka Takuma that he let them handle it, but Kiwimon overpowers Dracumon. Kaito laments his inability to protect himself, much less Miu, but Dracumon asks him if he intends to give up, Kaito refuses and declares that he would take hold of any power at his disposal to protect Miu. This allows Dracumon to evolve into Vamdemon.

Vamdemon is also a playable Kemonogami which can be obtained as both a Partner and a Free Kemonogami. It's a Special-type, Wrathful (Virus)-attribute, Perfect-level Kemonogami. Its unnamed Attack is Bloody Stream (110 power, 0 SP, deals Dark damage to target) and its special attack is Night Raid (225 power, 50 SP, deals Dark damage to target that absorbs HP equal to a portion of damage dealt). Its Passive Skill is Dark Noble (Raises damage dealt by Dark attacks two ranks and Dark resistance one rank. Less likely to be confused). Vamdemon's evolutions differ depending on whether it is the Partner Vamdemon or a Free Vamdemon:

  • Partner Vamdemon evolves from Sangloupmon and can evolve into Beelzebumon and Voltobautamon. All of these are unlocked by clearing specific events.
  • Free Vamdemon evolves from Sangloupmon and Fangmon and can evolve into Beelzebumon and Voltobautamon by using Ultimate Enlightenment Slabs.

  1. ナイトメア・ウェーブ is displayed as the furigana above the Japanese expression for "Nightmare Poisonous Electric Wave" (悪夢の毒電波, Akumu no Doku Denpa).
  2. "Scarlatto Vento" means "Scarlett Wind" in Italian. Although the official subtitles refer to the company with those words, the invitation shown in Ruli's smartphone ends with "Scarlett vent" signature instead.
  3. The name "Urato Ryuki" may be a reference to Vlad Dracula; "Urato" (浦戸 Urato) is similar in pronunciation to the Japanese transliteration of "Vlad" (ヴラド Vurado), just without dakuten, while the "Ryu" (リュウ Ryū) in "Ryuki" can mean "dragon", referencing the etymology of the name "Dracula".
