Story[edit]
Three years after the events chronicled in Digimon Adventure, the Digital World is in trouble again. But this time, its source of trouble is not an evil Digimon but rather a human boy, who has blocked normal evolution and is bent on taking over the Digital World. Three new Chosen Children, along with veteran Chosen Takaishi Takeru and Yagami Hikari, are called to save the Digital World from this threat using new forms of evolution, trying to live a normal life in the Real World at the same time. With new forces and great allies at their side, the Chosen Children face the new evil emerging in the Digital World while placing a halt to the evil force before it subdues the entire Digimon race under its dark power!
Overview[edit]
Digimon Kaiser Arc (Episodes 1-23)[edit]
The Digital World is under siege by a mysterious overlord calling himself the "Digimon Kaiser". He uses the power of Evil Rings and Evil Spirals to enslave Digimon and suppress evolution.
Three new Chosen Children: Daisuke, Miyako and Iori are introduced alongside returning Takeru and Hikari, and they receive the improved version of the original Digivice, the D-3, and the Digimentals, granting them the ability to performArmor Evolution. With this new power, the Chosen Children fight to free the Digital World from the Digimon Kaiser’s control, destroying Evil Rings and Dark Towers that enslave Digimon. Eventually, the Kaiser’s true identity is revealed: the prodigious student Ichijoji Ken.
While ignoring his true partner Wormmon, Ken creates an original composite Digimon, Chimeramon, to crush the chosen children and assert his rule over the Digital World. In the ensuing battle, Daisuke awakens the Digimental of Miracles, allowing V-mon to Armor-evolve into Magnamon. Empowered by Wormmon’s self-sacrifice, Magnamon defeats Chimeramon, and Ichijoji Ken finally realizes that he has been inflicting pain on real, living beings rather than manipulating mere computer data.
Jogress Evolution Arc (Episodes 24-37)[edit]
With the fall of the Digimon Kaiser, peace begins to return to the Digital World. The chosen children focus on repairing the damage left behind by the Dark Towers and helping Digimon regain their freedom. However, a new enemy duo emerges from the shadows: Archnemon and Mummymon. Using a mysterious power, they transform the remaining Dark Towers into powerful artificial Digimon, reigniting conflict.
Now properly fighting as one of the team, Ken works to atone for his past actions alongside Daisuke and the others. With the Dark Towers mostly gone, the chosen children are able to make their partners evolve naturally and they unlock the secret of Jogress Evolution, allowing two partner Digimon to fuse into a stronger form born of their combined hearts and trust. This newfound power becomes vital as the enemies keep getting stronger.
The conflict reaches its peak with the creation of Black War Greymon, a sentient Ultimate level Digimon born from 100 Dark Towers. Unlike previous foes, he acts independently, questioning his own existence and purpose as he battles both allies and enemies alike. His destructive path leads to the mysterious Holy Stones, sacred objects maintaining balance in the Digital World. As the chosen children strive to protect the stones, they realize that restoring harmony requires not just strength but understanding and forgiveness, especially for Ken, who continues to face the consequences of his former life as the Digimon Kaiser.
Dark Seed Arc (Episodes 38-50)[edit]
Disturbances begin appearing in the Real World. Dark Towers and phenomena surface across the globe, and children start showing strange marks on their necks: the Dark Seeds. The chosen children discover that these seeds were planted by Yukio Oikawa, a human obsessed with reaching the Digital World. Using the seeds to manipulate children, Oikawa creates gateways between both worlds, spreading corruption.
As the battle intensifies, Black War Greymon returns and ultimately sacrifices himself to protect the barrier separating the two worlds, finding the meaning he once sought. Oikawa’s body becomes a vessel for the revived spirit of Vamdemon, who reawakens as Belial Vamdemon, revealing that he had been the true mastermind behind much of the suffering since the beginning.
The final battle spans both worlds as the Japanese chosen children join forces with other chosen children from across the globe. With courage, faith, and unity, they defeat Belial Vamdemon and restore stability to both realms. The series concludes with a time skip showing a peaceful future where humans and Digimon coexist openly, fulfilling the dream that began when the first Chosen Children entered the Digital World.
