Ishida Hiroaki is a supporting character in Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.

Profile

Hiroaki is the father of Ishida Yamato and Takaishi Takeru. He is a reporter working for Fuji TV. He was married to Takaishi Natsuko and the couple had two sons, Yamato and Takeru, before divorcing in 1995. Since then, he took custody of his eldest son and the two have moved from Hikarigaoka to Odaiba.

Hiroaki is perceived as the typical Japanese man, a reserved, almost distant person who devotes himself to his job - he is usually seen working late hours, even in weekends and Christmas. He doesn't seem to be too involved in doing house chores either - those are usually left to Yamato to do.

Despite his tough, strong appearance (he is noted for being an heavy smoker), he is a loving, friendly person who cares deeply about his sons. The divorce affected him a lot, he carries an old picture of the united family in his wallet. He and Yamato have similar personalities and seem to understand each other quite well. One of the running jokes in the series is that Yamato considers themselves as "two single men being roommates" and he looks after Hiroaki as if they have switched roles in the family. He apparently has a soft spot for his younger son Takeru.

Hiroaki is one of the most involved parents in the series. He seems to be fully aware of his son's activities in the Digital World and he often gives a precious help to the Chosen Children.
