Story[edit]
Overview[edit]
Compared to the anime version, the setting is drastically different and the characterizations of certain characters are altered from their anime counterparts as well. Notable changes include:
- Mad Leomon is replaced by a similar counterpart known as Mach Leomon.
- Amano Nene now has a younger sister rather than a younger brother.
- While in the human world, a Wizarmon disguises all of Xros Heart's Digimon as humans.
- Bagramon is given a backstory prior to his fall and he is treated more sympathetically in the anime. His final goal is to awaken Zeed Millenniumon as a device to eradicate all life and save it from suffering.
- Tactimon is significantly more honorable than he is in the anime.
- Blastmon is fought in Odaiba rather than Tactimon.
- Unlike in the anime, Dark Knightmon is alive and redeemed at the end of the story.
- The Digimemory order in the anime does not appear and the Royal Knights and Homeostasis fulfill a similar role.
- The final fight is against Ultimate Chaosmon rather than Bagramon, which Bagramon himself teamed up with Xros Heart and sacrificed himself to help defeat it, and Shoutmon evolves into his Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode form.
- The Seven Great Demon Lords is a proper organization in opposition to the Royal Knights (so Lucemon is now an independent entity instead of a random Digimon serving under Lilithmon and Leviamon is no longer considered to be heroic). Most of them refused to join Bagramon in the Xros War with the sole exception of Lilithmon, who is also explicitly stated as a member of this group unlike in the anime.
- The Death Generals do not appear and most of the Areas were cut off or made different.
The manga also makes homage to past Digimon series such as Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 and Digimon Savers.

Trivia[edit]
- The author of the manga, Nakashima Yuuki, revealed at some point that there were plenty of side stories that he wasn't able to introduce because of time constraints. This extra content include a chapter that takes place between volumes 1 and 2, that would give more depth to Nene and Kiriha's relationship, a story about Zenjirou and Kotone's efforts while Taiki and the others were in the Real World, an extra story with Beelzebumon and Mervamon, a chronicle where they would travel all across the Digital World to find the Royal Knights, a tale about how Bagramon and the Three Head Officers met each other, and even with Dark Knightmon, among other scenarios.
