Dynasmon was impressed by Duftmon's intelligence and wanted both of them to learn from him so Wanyamon said to play school. Duftmon thought he meant he wanted to study and agreed with it, but in reality, Wanyamon played a rebellious student instead, which annoyed Duftmon who blamed Dynasmon for it. Then, in "Survival Tactics", Duftmon gave Dynasmon and Wanyamon a lesson on Socrates. Dynasmon flew away with Wanyamon as he found school boring while Duftmon shouted at them.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger[edit]

Duftmon is one of the Royal Knights. Yggdrasill sends Yuki Dan/Yuki Kanan to find them and get them to their rendezvous point in Central Town in the side mission "Royal Knights, Assemble!".

After the Agent defeated Duftmon in his rampaging Leopard Mode and made him wake up in the side mission "A Facilitator's Woes", Duftmon Mode Changed as he found it impolite to speak to them in his fighting form. He introduced itself then complained once more about the selfishness of his fellow Royal Knights, who scattered despite him trying to assemble them, an attitude he found embarassing from an elite force that protected the world. Because they separated, Duftmon found himself alone in Gear Forest, where he became one with nature and lost track of time. He acknowledged that it was a failure as a leader to lose his cool like that, so he wanted to stay in Gear Forest to reflect before going to the rendezvous point.

Duftmon moved to the Gear Forest village afterwards. He joined the Agent in looking for Tonosama Gekomon so he'd become the lead vocalist for Bacchusmon's choir in the side mission "Find a Lead Vocalist!" as he was interested in his prowess as a lead vocalist. As Bacchusmon expected, they found Tonosama Gekomon in the Sanctuary. He was confronted with a Titan Gran Kuwagamon, who terrified him, so Duftmon decided to take the Gran Kuwagamon down alongside the Agent. During the fight, Duftmon can use Nanomachine Break III and Nightmare III.

After the fight, Duftmon praised Tonosama Gekomon's singing for giving him strength and asked him to join their band, which Tonosama Gekomon agreed with. The group then returned to the village, where Bacchusmon asked Tonosama Gekomon to sing to his heart's content, backed up by a chorus composed of a Gekomon and a Sunflowmon. Bacchusmon was greatly pleased with their song, to the point that he refused to let the Agent sing along. Their voices also became something for Duftmon to protect, and thus, he finally decided to protect the world and pretended to leave for the rendezvous point.

Unknown to the Agent, Duftmon also masquerades in the Real World as the Card King, the strongest of all card players. Pretending not to know the Agent, he challenges them to a card battle in the side mission "The Pinnacle of the Card World". After being defeated, he proclaims the Agent the champion then reveals his true form. Rather than return to the rendezvous point, Duftmon decided to stay in the Real World as the Card King until the final battle and asked the Agent not to tell the rest about it.

All 13 Royal Knights showed up in an Outer Dungeon to save the Agent and Sagisaka Hiroko from Mugendramon in the side mission "An Odd Letter". Omegamon explained they had felt an enormous power and rushed to their aid, though they couldn't all fight in such a small space so they allowed the Agent to choose who'd help them.

Duftmon then can be challenged to a battle alongside other Royal Knights atop the Central Tower. He has three actions per turn and is immune to all status conditions. Aside of normal attacks, he can use Shock Plasma III, Void Ray III, Ernste Welle, a modified version of Aussterben that does way higher damage than usual, and Idle Bubble. In the Super Ultimate difficulty, he gains an action before the party.

All the Royal Knights showed up to fight Chronomon, destroying his Kotowari no Kyozetsu barrier with a barrage of their signature moves, then left. This was necessary, as said barrier could not be broken by anyone who lived under the rules of Iliad, but the Royal Knights were from another world and the situation was desperate enough to allow them to interfere with the natural order of Iliad.

Duftmon is a Data-type, Ultimate-level Digimon of the Passionate personality. It evolves from Grappu Leomon or Knightmon if their HP is 2570 or higher, Intelligence is 2130 or higher and Speed is 1890 or higher, and if the player's Agent Rank is 7 or higher. The stat requirements can be cut by up to 4.71x through Agent Skills. Its signature moves are Aussterben (55 Light magic damage to all foes; increased damage if target has already acted and/or if the foe has the Machine gene) and Ernste Welle (90 Darkness magic damage to one foe; 50% chance of inflicting Chaos if foe has already acted; bonus damage if foe is of the Unknown gene). Alternatively, it can use Wolkenkratzer to Mode Change in battle into Leopard Mode. It is weak to Ice and Earth, and resists Steel and Null.
