One year later, Cutemon goes to Taiki's Xros Loader together with his teammates to aid Taiki in the Digimon Hunt.

Cutemon lives in the wastelands, having moved there before the events of "The Vagrant War Demon, Rebellimon" due to seemingly being a better place to live in than a cave. However, as he was a weak Digimon, he was attacked in the past by the dangerous outlaws that lived in the desert, namely a group of Giromon. He was saved by Rebellimon, though the latter did so only because he wished to face strong enemies, and quickly left before Cutemon could thank him. Later, he healed Rebellimon after his defeat against Boltmon. In the present time, Cutemon was once again attacked by a group of Giromon, from which Yagami Taichi and Greymon tried to protect him. Rebellimon soon appeared and killed all but one Giromon, and then attacked the evolved Metal Greymon. Cutemon tried to stop him, but Rebellimon would've ran him over had Taichi not gotten him out of the way. Rebellimon then left, warning everyone to stay away from him, allowing the other three to go back to Cutemon's house, where he explained how Rebellimon had no memories and merely kept fighting the strong with no reasons to fight or win, as well as their past story and the story of the wastelands. Cutemon later healed Agumon's arm after the latter fought with a group of Boarmon led by the lone living Giromon, which Taichi considered a neat ability. After he did so, he heard Boltmon arriving, and warned everyone to run away, though to no avail. He then tried to protect Rebellimon after the latter was defeated once again by Boltmon, only to get easily blown away by Boltmon stomping on the ground, then nearly killed by Boltmon stomping on him, only to be saved by Rebellimon who underwent a change of heart, if without fully understanding why he did what he did. Cutemon, now riding on Rebellimon, took the chance to heal his broken arm, allowing Rebellimon to finally defeat Boltmon. After the battle, Cutemon was asked by Rebellimon to ride him, and then they left to parts unknown, merely knowing they are going "straight forward". Rebellimon and Cutemon reacted to the attack of a group of Soundbirdmon in "The Angels' Determination".

A Cutemon and its tamer are in Amethyst City when E.G.G. is destroyed by a large amount of Maquinamon bursting through it. They watch them spread over LACUNA, then watch as Chained appears on a screen and explains the rules of the suddenly announced quest.
