Bastemon is a dangerous rogue Digimon that appeared in "Bakeneko" who can use her Helter Skelter to convert cats into monsters that have two tails, straight fur and a constantly ferocious expression. These cat monsters can control people's bodies by swinging their paws, which Bastemon uses to force their bodies into moving like cats, often leaving them on top of buildings or other dangerous high places after a while. According to Bastemon herself it was "exercise" to see if humans can actually climb down from high places like cats. She perceives humans as inferiors compared to cats and targets cat owners in the vicinity, claiming around 30 cats and humans before being stopped. Her goal is to claim a human as her own pet.
The trio got involved with Bastemon when she managed to control Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro through the cats he kept in the school's dorm. On the next night, Bastemon ordered all of the cats she brainwashed to bring humans to a nearby pet cemetery for "selection," where a cat kept at the school dorm controlled by Bastemon targeted Gammamon and Kiyoshiro and forced their body to sleepwalk and jump across roofs. When Hiro saw Gammamon sleepwalking on his own, he woke up to investigate and alert Ruli but was attacked by Bastemon herself, who used Helter Skelter to control his body and bring him to the pet cemetery alongside the rest of the victims. Once all of the victims are gathered, Bastemon forces them to sit like cats, then forces them to climb up a tombstone (which got an old woman into injuring herself by running towards one) and squeeze out of fence bars. Anyone who fails the test are controlled to dig their own graves, which included Hiro and Kiyoshiro, since Gammamon enraged Bastemon by driving away the cats brainwashing the boys. As an "act of mercy," Bastemon removed control from Hiro, Gammamon and Kiyoshiro and let a pair of cat monsters dig their graves instead, while Ruli, Angoramon, Jellymon and Espimon were thinking of a solution to prevent dragging the cats and innocents into the Digital Field.
At the meantime, Ruli, Angoramon, Jellymon and Espimon arrived boarding Airdramon throwing olive and celery onto the cats and Espimon burnt kiwi leaves with Mot Bomb, since the plants have similar effects as Silver Vine that it also sedates the cat monsters. This reverts all of the affected people and cats back to normal, allowing the party to isolate Bastemon for a fight. Bastemon proved to be a strong opponent, being able to drain Lamortmon's life force with Vampiric Dance and control him with Helter Skelter and counter attacks with her scarf, defeating Espimon and Airdramon with ease and keeping Canoweissmon busy. Kiyoshiro then ordered Thetismon to use Adue World to be drained by Bastemon on purpose, which she fell for. In actuality, Thetismon is loaded with Silver Vine extract through Dokutease, which weakened Bastemon enough that she was unable to control anything and was taken out by Canoweissmon.
After being defeated, Bastemon claims that there is no hope for cats in this world anymore and tells the group that she will continue watching over this world's cats, and wonders if she will find a partner someday. Hiro and Angoramon encourages her, telling her that she will.
