Network Security
Network Security refers to the protection and defence of the Network, the Digital World created in it, and the Host Computer that governs it.
Overview[edit]
The Network is susceptible to human hackers and evil Digimon frequently attempting to penetrate it or abuse it for their own selfish desires. As such, it is protected by the Firewall[1] and patrolled by different ranks of Network Security such as the Royal Knights, who are positioned as the highest-ranking defenders[2], Griffomon[3], Giromon[4], who uses the alias of "Net Keeper", and Cyberdramon[5], who work to defend the Digital World. Guardromon originally worked with Giromon to repel attackers from the Firewall until hackers infected Guardromon with a computer virus, using it to protect themselves from the Vaccine-type justice brigade known as the "Virus Busters."[6] Agnimon is said to be an incarnation of the Firewall and defends the Network.[1]
Guardians of the Net[edit]
There are a number of individual and groupings of Digimon that defend specific aspects of the Network or in specific ways, such as the Three Archangels who defend Kernel. The "Virus Busters" exterminate the spirit of "Evil" possessed even among Vaccines and especially by Viruses, and are Digimon who have the ability to Delete.[7] The Virus Busters War Greymon and Metal Garurumon fuse to form the Royal Knight, Omegamon.[8] It is absolutely impossible to violate Security in the presence of the Royal Knights.[2] Imperialdramon: Paladin Mode descended in a time of great disruption in the ancient Digital World, and rescued it from complete collapse using the power of Omegamon in the form of the Omega Blade[9], so it is recognized as the founder of the Royal Knights.[10] Omegamon (X-Antibody) invokes its Special Move "All Delete" from its "Grey Sword" in battles that concern Network Security, which are battles it cannot afford to lose. Anything that comes in contact with the edges of the "Grey Sword" while "All Delete" is invoked are not cut, but erased.[11] In contrast, Dukemon is a living contradiction, being a guardian deity of the Network despite being a Virus attribute, and if by any chance its balance is lost, it is possible for it to become a dangerous being.[2]
On Digital World: Iliad, the Olympos XII act as counterparts to the Royal Knights, defending Iliad as guardians.[12] Grace Novamon is born from the fusion of Apollomon and Dianamon of the Olympos XII, when Iliad was visited by an unprecedented crisis.[13] The Tentei Hachibushu are the guardians of Digital World: Shambala. Susanoomon is a legend to the world of Shambala, with the Tentei Hachibushu called in to take its place as guardians of the world.[14]
