In the real world

In fiction

  • The Mongols and their allies wage war with the Japanese and unleash their monsters, Gigan and Megalon, upon the nation. Two warriors are chosen to acquire a relic from the Shobijin temple that will allow the Japanese to fend off the Mongols. In the process, the two warriors face Yamata no Orochi, the monster that the relic they seek is capable of controlling. The resulting fight awakens the nearby Godzilla, who proceeds to kill the eight-headed dragon before being angered into following the two warriors. Godzilla is lead into battle with the Mongols' monsters and with a little aid from the warriors triumphs. With no more adversaries in his sights, Godzilla lays waste to the ships around him in Hakata Bay. (Godzilla: Rage Across Time #1)
