Jennifer I'm just gonna start with the books that I've read this year. Some of the reviews will contain spoilers since I'm just using the same review I wrote when I completed the book.

Review:

** spoiler alert ** I was really irritated with the book when I started reading it. It was like the author was trying to hard to give the characters street cred, and the dialogue bothered me. Once I got past that, I was hooked. The characters are compelling and the story line is enthralling. It's a unique take on the vampire legend. I cannot believe what she did to Carlos! I cannot wait to find out what happens with the rest of the series!

** spoiler alert ** I love the way this series is developing! I was so glad that Carlos was being good and that he was able to hide his master status from Fallon so that he could successfully fight him. And, I loved that he saved the kill for D. I really hope that as the series continues he continues to refuse to feed of innocents so that he can be saved by the light and be with D. They belong together! Really excited to read the rest of the series!

Review:

Very cute story. I liked the intrigue of the kidnapping and the sort of love triangle between Marty, Keegan and Alana. Nina and Wanda were great side characters. I loved the writing and the comedy.

Review:

I'm glad that the second book continued with the same characters and expounded on Nina's storyline. But, I didn't like this as much as The Accidental Werewolf. Nina's personality was too different from how she was portrayed in the first book. She spent too much time whining. I hope that the story for Wanda is back up to the same caliber as the first one. Even though I was a little disappointed with this story, I am still looking forward to the next book in the series.

I really like how L.J. Smith tells her stories. She draws you in, and you really feel what the characters feel. I love how even though the stories are separate entities the characters from the previous stories make appearances in many of the other stories.

Review:

I love this series. I love the characters. I love the plots. I love how the characters from the previous stories make appearances in the newer books. I do not love how the finale does not get released until May 2011. That is entirely too long to wait for the finale! I am so excited for the finale to get released and I will definitely be re-read this series before the last one comes out. I liked this volume better than volume 2; the characters were more likable and more intriguing. L.J. Smith is a master storyteller!

Review:

** spoiler alert ** This was a really interesting concept. I love the characters, especially Derek! I know he's kind of mean and seems creepy, but I think there's probably more to him than that. If I were Chloe, I would have freaked out when I saw that first ghost too. Sending her to Lyle house sounded like a good idea at first, but it was obvious that it was too good to be true. I was sad that they killed Liz, but I understand how it was necessary for the progression of the story. What I don't understand is why Chloe let Rae talk her into leaving without Simon and Derek? And her Aunt? Didn't see that one coming!

Review:

** spoiler alert ** I loved the follow up! This answered so many questions that were posed during the first book. I was right about there being more to Derek than meets the eye. He really is a good guy, and he is better for Chloe than Simon. But, I get the feeling that he will probably back off since Simon likes her, even though I hope that she ends up with Derek. Rae being the one to sell them out was a surprise, and that Tori ended up going on the escape was interesting. I loved the trip across the state that Chloe and Derek took, and how he is developing as a character, learning to trust and trying so hard to help Chloe learn how to control her powers. I really hope that Liz makes another appearance in the next book, because she was really helpful in this one. I really hope that Aunt Lauren isn't dead, but I fear that she is. Can't wait for the next book to get released!

Review:

** spoiler alert ** I really like this series. However, this is my least favorite of the three books. While Christine is an interesting character, I find her hard to relate to at times. The tall, beautiful, brilliant heroine is very cliched. I did like the dynamic that she had with her family; her struggle to prover herself made her much more likable. Alec was fun and very charming and exactly what she needed. His joy and love for what he did, and his willingness to give it all up for the right woman was very romantic. I'm glad that neither had to sacrifice what they loved in order to be together. And most of all, I loved when she finally stood up to her father! That scene was brilliant!

Review:

** spoiler alert ** This was a nice conclusion to the trilogy. I felt that Amy was the character that I was most able to relate to, and her ability to get lost was charming and embarrassing at the same time. I felt her love and her heartbreak, just like I was supposed to. Although, I found the ending to be a bit predictable. I just knew that Byron was going to show up at her house during the bridal shower. I found myself waiting for him to make his appearance. I'm glad that they were able to overcome their differences and be together. And I'm very happy that Amy finally stood up to Meme so that she could have a life and not feel guilty about it. I love this author and I'm really looking forward to reading more of her work. I hope they are all as good as this series. Great characters. I'm glad that it wrapped up all of the stories too, with their one year wedding anniversaries. It was nice to know what happened after the happily ever after.

Review:

I am not a huge fan of compilations like this. I find that there is not enough time to fully develop the characters and so I am left wanting. Even when they are characters that I am familiar with, like two of the stories were, it still seems rushed. I bought this book for the Sookie story, and found it to be not as funny or as interesting as I was used to. I would have liked to give it 2.5 stars instead of just 2. The stories were all really well written, they just lacked the pull of a full story.

** spoiler alert ** It's really more like 3.5 stars. Cute story. I'm glad that Gen ended up with Jack. I knew that Nick was not going to be the hero since he showed up too early in the story, and since she was so into him he obviously couldn't be the hero but I did not expect him to be that crazy. I'm glad that Jack was able to save the day. It was pretty obvious that Jack was going to be totally sexy and I'm glad that Gen liked him not only because he was so hot, but because of how intelligent he was. And I'm very happy that she stopped pretending to be someone and something that she wasn't and was able to get back to her roots. I hope that Annabelle ends up with Matt. Looking forward to the next book.

Review:

** spoiler alert ** Very cute story. The premise was very interesting. I loved the challenges that Lucy and Quinn had to overcome (especially the lies associated with online dating) in order to be together. I was heartbroken with Lucy when she figured out that she started out as just a job, and when Quinn told her that she was a suspect until Breathless struck while they were together was unbelievably sad. I loved that he risked his career to her, and that she told him to give back the surveillance tapes. I just wish we could've known when Quinns' suspension was over! Maybe in the next book that will get resolved. The end of the book set up the next one well. I hope that it is a good as this one.

Review:

** spoiler alert ** The story was well written and it's an interesting concept, but I disliked Artemis so much that I had trouble appreciating the story. I really liked Holly, Butler and Juliet when she was mesmerized. But Artemis was a spoiled brat who needed an adult to put him in time out. His intellect allowed him to get away with so much and he put so many people in harms way with barely a hit of concern. I will not be reading the rest of the series because I cannot stand the main character.

I loved this book. I was a little worried when I was first considering reading it, but those fears were ridiculous! The story is fast paced and engaging the whole time. It is a very easy read and is great for readers of all ages. So excited to read the rest of the series to find out what happens. What will happen with Grover? Will he succeed? And what is in store for Percy? Can't wait to finish it! And looking forward to the movie too!

** spoiler alert ** I loved this book! It was a nice follow to The Lightening Thief. I am glad that Annabeth and Percy were able to stay friends, and I love that Percy was able to actually finish out the school year at one school. So, Poseidon is kind of a slut, but I loved that Percy and Tyson were able to help each other, and that Percy stopped being so embarrassed by him. And I was very happy that Tyson did not die in the boat explosion. Percy was much to nice to Clarisse and Luke. I cannot wait to find out how he vanquished Luke. George and Martha were very funny. And thank the gods that Grover was ok! It was very clever to make him hide in the bridal shop to fool the cyclops. And that he was able to pull it off for so long, brilliant! Very excited to read the rest of the series!!!

** spoiler alert ** This was a cute story, but a little overly involved. There were quite a few characters and it will take quite a bit to wrap up all of the conflicts that were presented in this story. I am glad that she passed her test, got to keep her powers and got her happily ever after. Cute story.

Review:

** spoiler alert ** I really liked this book. Even though it was supposed to take place in the mid to late 1800s, many of the themes were still very relevant. It depicted the relationships between teenage girls very well, the passive aggressive nature of power struggles and the need to fit in. Gemma is a very interesting character, and I really liked how her involvement and attraction to Kartik was written. I hope that in the following books there is more of the two of them. Although I should have seen the twist about Mary, I did not, and was very surprised. I get the feeling that we have not seen the end of Miss Moore, and that she may in fact be bad. I cannot stand Felicity and hope that if she is in future stories that she stops being so jealous of Gemma and learns to trust her more. A very engaging and well written story. I am looking forward to finishing the series!

** spoiler alert ** This was a very nice follow up to book 2. Rachel was a very interesting character, as were Bianca and Nico. It was very brave, the sacrifice that Bianca made. And I understand why Nico was so mad at Percy, I'm just glad that he came to his senses. The adventures were very interesting this time, and I'm glad that they are getting better at understanding the prophecies. Atlas was very mean and I cannot believe he let Zoe die! It was a nice tribute to give her her own constellation. I cannot believe that Thalia decided to become a Hunter! I realize that it was a good decision to avoid being the child of the prophecy, but it was kind of a cop out; very chicken decision. Very excited to find out what happens!!

Review:

** spoiler alert ** I was very angry with the end of this book! Luke is Kronos! Is he serious! I loved that Annabeth got her own quest and that she broke the rules by taking extra people, but it was necessary. I am not liking the jealousy she is having over Rachel especially since she is still so hung up on Luke. Why is she allowed to love Luke and Percy, but Percy isn't allowed to like Rachel? Especially since she did so much to help them! What happened with Grover and Pan was very sad, but I'm glad he found him. And thank goodness Deadelus came to his senses and joined the right team. Nico is so sad, and I really hope that he can find a place in the world with alive people. Very mad about Luke, but still very eager to find out what happens.

** spoiler alert ** This was an interesting concept, but there was so much sex that the story didn't develop as much as I would have liked. I'm all for a good sex scene or two, but most of this book was sex and it really took away from the story. Mikhail was fairly well developed, but Raven was not near as well developed. She kept saying "how did I let this happen?" and "I'm so independent" but we don't really get to see that. I was really sad that the priest got killed. That was very unnecessary. I liked the short story at the back more, there was less sex and the characters were better developed. I plan to give the series another try, but I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was.

** spoiler alert ** This book was a compilation of short stories. They were interesting, but not as good as the series. The best story was the one about Dracula. Any time Eric is involved is a good time, but even that story was lacking. Eric does not bow and scrape and grovel. It was very not like him. The short stories are not near as good or entertaining as the series.

It had such potential, and in the end it seemed like she was trying to hard to write the next Romeo and Juliet, star crossed lovers who do not get their happy ending, but only bring misery for each other and their families. Too many books end sadly, it would've been nice for this to end differently, to have the happy ending. :(

** spoiler alert ** This had great potential and I was interested in it, but I was not as absorbed as I could have been. The language was too formal and not all of the characters were very well developed. It seemed like he was trying to hard to make add surprise twists. And I was not happy with the end. Sita/Alisa was a great vampire; brooding, a little bloodthirsty, times of great evil, and still had her humanity. But changing her back to human, not very fun. She did not develop and grow near as much as Yaksha, who was not near as important of a character.

** spoiler alert ** I liked this better than no.1, although I had issues because some of it was almost too far fetched. I was very glad when she became a vampire again; she was much more interesting as a vampire than a human. I was very surprised when Ray ended up being a figment of her imagination and when Kalikah ended up being a good guy. The whole going back in time thing to right her wrongs was what upset me most with this volume, it seemed to take away form the story. But at least she got her happy ending, killing Yaksha before he could be born and living her life with her husband and child; but again it was very far fetched, going back in time and changing everything. I did not see the ending coming and was sad when Seymore died. I did not see that coming; it was all a story that he made up to help him cope in the end stages of his life. Wow. Much better than No. 1.

And the tension with Oliver! Normally I don't approve of love triangles, but this square is amazing!

** spoiler alert ** So surprised about Bliss being the daughter of the devil, and his vessel! Love that she was able to keep part of herself and that she was able to kill the bond. Mimi is so mean! She was going to leave Jack for Kingsley, but didn't get the chance but since Jack did leave her for Schuyler she has vowed to destroy him! Can we say hypocrite! And poor Oliver! I am anxiously awaiting the next book!!! It cannot get here soon enough!

** spoiler alert ** Very cute series. I love the tension between Betsy and Sinclair. I cannot believe that her boss was a "sheep" and that he set her up to be killed! Thank goodness that plan didn't work!

Cute story, but it took a long time to get going. I did not like how it started, but very much liked how it ended. A very nice dynamic between the characters. I will continue with the series.

** spoiler alert ** Cute story. I love the new house and how Betsy, Jessica, and Marc interact. And how Sinclair and Tina fit in. Laura, the devils daughter was quite an interesting twist, especially since she is such a devout Christian.

** spoiler alert ** Cute story. I love how Betsy takes pleasure from teasing and tormenting Sinclair and Tina with Christmas! Laura is an interesting character, but she is getting a little boring. Although, she is much more interesting when she embraces her dark side.

** spoiler alert ** This story was very emotional, especially when Jessica takes a turn for the worse. Betsy can be very self-centered, but when everyone disappears and her world comes crashing down she realizes how important everyone is, and she really starts to develop some grit as a ruler. And for her to save Sinclair and Jessica was wonderful!

** spoiler alert ** Betsy has really grown as queen, and it is very obvious in this book. I am super sick of The Ant and really hope she gives up and goes into the beyond already! So sad that Nick and Jessica broke up, but glad that Jessica picked Betsy over Nick and really sad that Antonia died and that Garrett killed himself because of it. Can't wait to find out what happens next!

** spoiler alert ** Cute story. Not as big a fan of this series so far as the Aisling books, but still good. And I really like that Aisling and Drake play a role in this series. May is a very interesting character, but I am really sick of her twin! Gabriel is a very strong and passionate character, and I like him and May together. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Cute story. Not as good at the original series, but still enjoyable. I really like the relationship between May and Gabriel and how ridiculous Megoth is. And I absolutely love that Drake, Aisling, and Jim are all still part of the story. But, I absolutely HATE Cy. She is a dumb, annoying, worthless character.

** spoiler alert ** A nice ending to the Silver Dragon story line. I am glad that May was able to keep Megoth from getting his powers and get unbound and de-consorted from him so that she can live happily ever after with Gabriel. Not happy that Cy ended up with Koysta; I was kind of hoping that she would be a casualty of the big fight. I am intrigued to find out what happens in the next book and whether it will be another spin off series or a stand alone book to bring everything to a close. I love that Aisling had twins, one boy and one girl. Drake was hilarious with the sterile gowns and appointment cards! And now that we know Tully is Baltics mate... Wow. Jim was hilarious, as always. I cannot stand the archimage, and was hoping that he would be a casualty as well. Looking forward to the next book.

** spoiler alert ** This book was so much better than Hunted and Tempted. I loved the evolving storyline of Stevie Rae and Rephiam! It was gross when it started out, but now that it has some dimension, feeling and interaction it is amazing. I love the struggles Stark went through to protect Zoey, and how the "nerd herd", even though they weren't in the story a lot, played an important part in helping Stark. What is up with "asstarded"? I miss "asshat". It was very nice to see Aphrodite showing real emotions, and the scene with her and Darius when she was being insecure and vulnerable was a nice change for her. I liked that Zoey was not a major player in this book, I was getting very bored of her whining, indecision and selfishness in the previous two books. It was great to see Neferet showing her more evil side and that Kolona now knows just how evil she is. I was stunned when he was emotionally hurt by what happened to Zoey as a result of him killing Heath. Oh Heath, h...more This book was so much better than Hunted and Tempted. I hope he gets reborn soon so that he can be in the story again! He is my favorite character and the series won't be the same without him! My faith in this series has been restored and I am now eagerly awaiting Awakened.
