The story within this brief book is infuriating, heartbreaking, and deeply upsetting. How we still feel the echoes of which trials in society’s view and treatment of women!

While poetry and flowery writing isn’t my typical fare, the lyrical writing worked in this short book. The book itself reads like a hazy dream and can feel a bit heavy at times but ultimately, the artistic style works.

4.5 I was a bit hesitant to pick this up as I haven’t found I gel well with “books about books”. Instead of gatekeeping, book snobbery, and pretension, I found a wonderful little community in the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop!

What I loved:
