Arabala traditionally means beautiful or graceful. But the author in this case chose the title for this book for its deeper play on words and because of his etymological love for visual symmetry. Right away you see the words “Arab” and “Allah” in the title name, if divided, as these two lovers are. You see “Arab” or Arabian “God” or “Goddess.” “Bala” means divine, similar to how “Bella” in Italian means beautiful. Bala means “youth,” “aphrodisiac,” and is associated with the ancient Hindu Goddess of beauty and grace. You definitely better understand after reading Arabala from cover to cover. Bala is a Sanskrit word that also means “young,” “powerful,” and “strength of mind.” In Arabic, Bala can also mean “trials,” “distress,” “catastrophic,” and “adversity.” The black Egyptian asp woven into the ram skull represents the divine feminine in both main characters. The snake in the garden of Eden is Sophia––holy female wisdom. The black Asp is the feminine yin. The white Capricorn skull is the masculine yang and the month of December when the two main characters reunite and when Lucius dies. But Lucius is reborn and still alive like the sun, reborn on the path of the ecliptic, at the same time of year that the sun is reborn. The ram and snake both symbolize the word “transformation”––the sexual alchemical dance of lovers. The dried haidemorala roses on the cover symbolize decomposition, autumn, and Lucius’s death. Mahru means “face of the moon.” Lucius’s name means “light” or “sun.” And every year at the winter solstice the sun dies just as Lucius dies. Skull and snake is death because transformation requires death. And the ring is symbolic of the conflict that ensues when the inability to follow your heart and listen to your higher self is refused. Death symbolic of being unconscious with conflict.

Arabala is a standalone novel completed in the year 2023 by the reclusive author Luca Evola. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, January 27th 1988, in the Chinese year of the dragon, Luca has always had a gift for drawing, painting, and writing from the time that he was five years old. Not much else is known about the author at this time, as he seeks to remain an illusive figure like Salinger and Ferrante. It took about four and a half years for Arabala to become complete, and its first draft was completed in 2014. In 2019, after moving to the western United States, the author continued to work on Arabala for another two and a half years. The title script, Arabala, was hand drawn by the author, as well as the lion and female figure inside of the front cover. The black vipera aspis on the cover was first sculpted by the artist Jared Balibrea (7thGolem) before it later became illustrated to fit the cover. Those closest to the author are, with respect and kindness, adamant about keeping his privacy and anonymity. And writing several books has never been a focus for this particular author.
