I enjoyed reading the Sinful Empire Duet by Eva Charles, which ends with Wrath. I was impressed by this novel's excellent character development, intense plot, and clever twists. This story has a bit of betrayal, redemption, and suspense wrapped up in an angsty love story. The book's darker themes were skillfully done, evoking a range of emotions as the story progressed.

I thought Rafael Huntsman's devotion to Lexie Clarke was admirable. Their interactions were brimming with desire and passion but also heartbreak because they weren't sure how to make things work between them. But love always finds a way, and eventually, they tame their inner demons and learn how to trust each other fully. For me, the best moments were when Rafael and Lexie were their most vulnerable. I enjoyed the tender touches and moments of epiphany. Of course, the passion and dirty talking were intoxicating too! Wrath is a satisfying ending to Rafael and Lexie's journey. I loved it!

The Sinful Empire Duet is a great story for anyone who loves romance novels with strong characters, sensuality, dangerous twists, and a happy ending that's well-earned.

Dual POV
The Sinful Empire Duet: Pride and Wrath can be read independently of the other books in the series, including Greed , Lust , and Envy .

Tropes: second chance romance, age gap, dark mafia romance, anti-hero, heroine in danger

A fantastic finale to what has been an awesome series beginning with Antonio and Daniella in Greed before concluding with Rafael Huntsman’s story in Wrath. With a gripping plot involving the evils of human trafficking that comes closer to home than anyone would have ever expected, the story opens where the previous book left off with Lexie in danger, she and Rafe faced a fair amount of angst which was balanced out by some seriously steamy encounters as they struggled to find a way to work together to find the evil mastermind with the overprotective Rafe especially struggling to curb his instincts and allow Lexi follow her path even though it placed her in danger

This series was my introduction to Eva Charles’ books and I was addicted right from the start. With gripping dark storylines full of intrigue and suspense to fabulous characters, all alpha, dominant heroes and strong, feisty heroines who will break your hearts with the ordeals they face. Not forgetting the sizzle factor which is off the charts, these books have everything you could possibly want in dark mafia romance. The Sinful Empire is one series I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone, it’s one I’ll be revisiting in the future

The duet as well as the series concludes epically in this book.

After the cliffhanger in the last book, I was very anxious to start this book. Rafael and Lexie have a lot to discuss but no time since the traffickers are still running free. They may angry at each other for their individual “deceit” but their insane chemistry won’t let that bar them from giving in. And boy did they steam up the pages.

The intensity of the book never stops from beginning to end. The small twists kept me enthralled. Not surprised by one of the perps but glad in the end the bad guys get their just desserts. And in a very diabolical way.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Rafael & Lexie: WRATH Delivered! 5 Stars!

It’s a reader’s dream come true to find engaging main characters, a solid plot worthy of said characters and for them to possess that undeniable pull towards each other. This euphoric feeling is magnified and extended when a series is born from this “world”, carefully crafted by the author to put you all in your feelings and pulls you in so completely you begin to feel like a part of this world. So much that you never want to leave it.

It’s also the reader’s burden to realize that book series eventually must come to an end. The best we can hope for is to be gifted with a satisfying end. The author, Eva Charles has given us this gift.

WRATH delivers. I LOVED IT!

The final installment of the “Sinful Empire” saga picks up where it left off. WRATH reunites us with power couple, Lexie and Rafael, knee deep in a dangerous investigation inside a sex trafficking ring. The energy in the air is charged and emotions are heightened. All hands are on deck as Rafael is frantically trying to locate Lexie and return her to him safely. All the events which began in PRIDE culminate in WRATH and the duo, along with the reader, finally discover who is behind it all, greatly affecting numerous lives.

This book had it all. OMG, my emotions were all over the place! So, a bit of advice, before you begin... grab a box of tissues (trust me, you'll need those tissues by the end), a hot cup of your favorite brew and hunker down... this one is a ride!

What I love most about Rafael and Lexie is that you have two powerful, strong-willed individuals who are so well-matched, they played off each other effortlessly. I couldn’t have been more wrong in thinking that Rafael and Lexie would be anything like Antonio and Daniella, our supercouple, in books GREED, LUST, and ENVY. Rafael and Lexie were vastly different, in temperament and their actions towards each other. Whereas Daniella eventually found her voice and strength, Lexie appeared to be born with it (no surprise given her upbringing and her powerful father). Antonio was much more emotionally stoic and calculating while Rafael was more impulsive and wore his emotions for Lexie on his sleeve. Brilliant writing on behalf of Ms. Charles. Many authors seem to make this “copy/paste” mistake when spinning off connecting characters from an original series. So not the case here!

Rafael just lets Lexie be Lexie, strong and independent. They faced the challenges presented together even they frustrated the dickens out of each other. The push and pull from Lexie was real. Nevertheless, Rafael flexed that “Alpha” and did not hesitate to display his dominance to keep her safe. Ho boy, the way he loved his “Angel"! I swooned repeatedly throughout the book! Rafael’s sexually commanding dominance over Lexie damn near brought ME to heel and submit just from reading! The spice level will have you fanning yourself and seeking ice-water for relief! The passion is there, and the reader will feel it!

I will not give anything away to what happens but suffice it to say I was stunned. The plot was so well thought out that I honestly didn’t see it coming! I’m not ashamed to say that I cried at the end. It was VERY emotional as these characters finally got the closure they deserved. Especially, Rafael. Who my tears were mostly for.

As the reader embarks on their final departure from Ms. Charles' world in Porto, Portugal. I firmly believe that true fans of this series will be satisfied with the closing of WRATH.

Brava, Ms. Charles! Well done.

On a final note, maybe it’s just me but I just can’t help but feel like while Ms. Charles closed the door on “The Sinful Empire”, she may have intentionally left a window open.

Hmmm… maybe it’s just my silly wishful thinking. 😊

Happy reading!

Ms. Charles writes amazing stories!

Her characters jump from the pages, into your mind, into your heart!

The dialogue was fantastic!

Wrath was everything I expected from this talented writer and more!

I was rooting for Lexie and Rafa! It wasn't easy, but heck yeah, the angst makes the sexy times all that better!

Valentina, my heart went out to her!

I loved Lexie for everything she does for Rafael!

Rafael took some time to come around, but eventually...! I'm not going to give anything away!

I LOVED the entire series! Dark romance lovers, I highly recommend this series!

I really don't want it to be over, but, I can tell you, I will binge the series again back-to-back!!!

I've been anxiously waiting for this book since being left hanging on that cliff at the end of book 1, Pride!!
Wrath, it was soooo worth the wait!! This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!!
The suspense and angst are at an all-time high in this one and the chemistry between Rafael and Lexie is still smoking hot!!
The ending made me so happy not just for Rafael and Lexie but for Valentina as well. I would have loved for her to get her own book. Maybe we'll get lucky in the future?

If you haven't read the Sinful Empire series yet, you really should...starting with Greed. I promise you'll love it!!

'A fitting finale to a series & duet with so much to offer from its characters, to its talented author who wrote them' - The British Bibliophile

Thank you to Eva Charles for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review

NOTE - This review does not contain spoilers, its spoiler-free, but my review will touch upon aspects that are listed in the blurb so if you don't want to read anything about this book before diving in, please scroll away from my review now :)

Wrath by Eva Charles is the second book in her Sinful Empire Duet . These two books are linked to the original Sinful Empire series, but stand on their own as a duet, following along the events and adventures that surround Rafael (mentioned in the original series) and Lexie. If you have not read book one to this duet--Pride--, I highly recommend that you do as it provides so much context and lead-up to the events that take place within this book.

Pride left us with one hell of a cliffhanger that for the last three months. Since reading the last words of that book, it's been on the forefront of my mind as to how the next book would follow on and were things would go. It could've literally been anything and gone anywhere, so it was going to be interesting to see which direction Eva would take things and thus, us along for the ride.

I should have seen it coming.
But I was too busy drowning in her essence.
Enjoying every lush curve.
Hanging onto each duplicitous word that tumbled from her sultry lips.

This duet has really made its characters work hard for their happily ever after (HEA), and this really is shown in this book in abundance. Everything is cranked up ten, twenty times more than it was in book one. This includes the spicy bits and oh my bookish bits there was spiciness in abundance and several times over! I'm amazed at the prowess of a fictional character's abilities, which isn't unusual considering the content of the romance novels I read but wowza! I was exhausted (in a good way) after reading each scene. Lord knows how Lexie would feel if ever she was real. Cracking writing from Eva, for those parts!

Even now, with the cards on the table and the secrets exposed, I crave her.
Every traitorous inch of her delectable body.

Other parts of a more graphic (and non-bedroom) nature have also been dialled up in this novel. This is far from a novel for the squeamish, we see the unveiled, ruthless and raw nature of the Huntsman men--namely Rafael--when they need to get their sleeves rolled up and more than a drop of blood spilled. Eva doesn't shy away from giving it as good as it gets with the graphic details as other authors might. She shows off why she's one of the best dark romance/mafia romance writers with making you wince, squirm and swallow back as you read the unfolding events. The mark of a good author is invoking a reaction out of their readers, and Eva did that just here in this book with these stomach churning parts. Smashing!

She’s mine.
She’s always been mine, andI don’t care if she’s my ruin.

Getting to know Rafael (and now Lexie) over the series of books in the original series and across duet has been nothing short of an unforgettable experience. We've seen the seeds of a mafia man in training bloom into one of the most deadly there is and I'm glad I was at the hands and mercy of Eva while doing so. All of Eva's Sinful Empire/Sinful Empire Duet characters are testaments to her writing abilities and I honestly hope that more and more people will pick up both sets of books to meet and love them as I did.

I'm going to miss this series, but I'm very much looking forward to my next Eva Charles read.

Five stars!

Kindle Unlimited: No
Stand-alone: No- Duet
Author: Eva Charles
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️
Spiciness Rating: 4/5 🌶
POV: First Person Dual Perspective
Main Couple: Rafael and Alexis (Lexie)
Trope(s): Forced Proximity, Age-Gap, Dark Suspense Romance

‘Last night I learned something new. Fools don’t have to suffer alone. Antonio was right. Sharing what's inside, with the right person, makes you stronger, not weaker.
I also learned that while Lexie is soft, pliable, and loving, she’s also tough and strong, and fearless- and so many other things.’

Wrath/Pride is part of Eva’s Porto world. If you read Daniela and Antonio’s Trilogy, you will be familiar with the characters in this book. Although you can read this Duet independently, reading the books in order will provide more information and background. As Pride was Wrath is a long detailed read. Eva does not shy away from triggering topics. However, she handles them with care. This book… Rafael had some groveling and compromising to do. Lexie held her ground as long as she could stand the smexy Rafael was throwing down. Watching their relationship grow, Lexie come into her own, Rafael get closure, and a glimpse into their future made my week.

We were left wondering what happened to the plane Lexie was on as Pride ended. Rafael has to swallow his pride and work with Lexie’s father, which works to Will’s advantage too. His operation has been infiltrated leaving Lexie in danger as collateral damage.

Once again under his protection, but this time Lexie decides to come clean on her project. Feeling nothing is left to lose considering the way he made his feelings clear just before she left Porto. With Rafael’s clout in the European world he could possibly help.

Rafael brings Tamar into their discussion.

Rafael wants a chance for their relationship to thrive, but Lexie just cannot let her heart take another hit.

He of course refuses to accept her answer.

In the midst of all the other chaos happening, Rafael and Valentina still have the global launch that will make or break Premier as a modern, cutting-edge port house.

Through this book we get more glimpses into Valentina and Marco’s marriage. Which has become a bone of contention.

Lexie is powerless but to let Rafael in. The hold they have on one another is too strong.

Just as they are settling in with the trafficking ring taken care of and moving forward with future plans, putting their running shoes to rest, life comes at them all once again.

I LOVED IT! If Pride crushed me, this one broke me and put me back together. THIS WAS A WILD RIDE! This series is fantastic and every book is better than the previous. It's simply amazing.

Wrath starts right where we were left off in Pride. This means it has a lot of action from the start, which is PERFECT! I love how the characters grow and take risks. Rafa's character development is GOLD. It's hard to put up with a man with a lot of pride, but the evolution is clear. He fights and he has a lot to make up for, but he finally trusts his feelings and now I love him even more.

Lexi shocked everyone in the best way possible. I'm so happy she came forward and demonstrated to everyone what she's capable of. I didn't breathe the entire chapter! My mind was like "Rafa, don't do anything stupid! Listen to her!!!!" :))) The team is fantastic. I love Tamar! She's like the voice of reason, and I'm so happy Lexi had someone from the inside who supported her with a clear mind. She needed that. Both her and Rafa.

Wrath is a rollercoaster! Action-packed, twists, romance, steamy scenes, and some CRUSHING EVENTS!!! I rarely cry on contemporary romance/mafia/dark romance, BUT THIS BOOK BROKE ME!!!! From that traitorous bastard (I didn't like him in Pride, but here I wanted to strangle him!!!!) and his stupid actions to those epilogues!!!! Woman!!!! The whole book is written perfectly, but hell, that one chapter (you'll see which one when you read it), that special one is absolutely magnificent and crushing! As a reader, you can feel the characters' emotions!! And not only feel what they feel but also this entire book puts your brain to work. You start suspecting and your brain starts putting every doubt and every previous suspicion into a map and makes you enter into the book. I screamed at the book when that one asshole dared to speak!!

The entire series is amazing and I'm so happy I discovered Eva Charles. She is magnificent! And I want to thank her and her team for bringing this book to the public and for sending me the eARC for this awesome book. I loved every page.

Wrath picks up right where Pride left off and straight away, I feel thrown into pages of edge of my seat tension. Rafael is working with Lexie's father to ensure she gets to destination safely.
There's more than just the traffickers they need to worry about when they realise they have traitors in their midst.
I find this authors writing style a little different from the rest, which makes her stories that much more interesting. Rafael and his internal monologue, along with him answering himself, before he answers others, is rather amusing.
Both of these characters are stubborn and headstrong, neither of them thinking they'll change their ways anytime soon which means Lexie isn't willing to give Raffa a shot. For now, anyway.
I think Raffa acknowledging Lexie's research on the traffickers and not flat out dismissing her shows his willingness to at least concede at times.
Lexie's character is inspiring in a way. While she cares for Rafael, she doesn't let him dismiss her and her opinions and you can really see that he's making an effort. There was a turning point in their relationship, and it finally bought them to the same side. There has been a couple of overlapping storylines throughout this duet, and I was hoping we'd find out more about Valentina and how she's been coping. I was very curious as to how everything would play out and while I expected Raffa or one of his team to find out the information, it wasn't. Which then put Lexie in an impossible situation, and I didn't envy her at all.
Despite how hard it was, I felt she really handled things well and again never allowed Rafael to dismiss her. Raffa showed that he had truly changed here, and the author did really well at showing a somewhat softer side to Rafael while still being the growly boss he is.
I think this was important as well for both of his relationships, the one he has with Lexie and with his niece Valentina.
Things moved fairly quickly from here and had me white-knuckling my e-reader waiting to see how things would conclude. The author wrapped things up really well and you aren't left with any unanswered questions at all.
There was a nice balance of spice and action, and Rafael's dirty talk is enough to make your toes curl. This book is for anyone that loves a good organised crime/Mafia story with a Strong, Independent Heroine and a dirty talking possessive alpha hole.
A really well-done conclusion to this duet, thank you!

Wrath is the conclusion to The Sinful Empire Duet and Eva Charles did not disappoint. Rafael Huntsman quickly became the Hero I wanted and needed in this story.  This is a dark and angst filled mafia and enemies to lovers story. Rafael is most definitely our antihero while Lexie is our fierce and surprising heroine.

Rafael finds himself desperately searching for Lexie. Her safety was paramount compared due to the fact she was putting herself in danger with hunting down human traffickers.  Their last encounter left Rafael bitter and Lexie hurt. And  now she’s running and he’s facing off with unknown enemies, her family, and his worst fears.

Once  Rafael is able to secure Lexie’s safety, they find themselves joining forces to fight a mutual enemy. All the while finding that their past and present are battling for their future. Lexie isn’t willing to chance another broken heart. Rafael realizing he’s fallen for Lexie puts him at odds with himself. She’s what he wants and he’s willing to risk it all.

I love how Charles developed Rafael. While he was broody and unyielding, I appreciated the fact that he made no apologies for who he was and what he did. He ruled his empire for the betterment of all concerned.  And Lexie refused to be tamed. She wielded power over  Rafael neither understood. And appearances from family and friends just added to an amazing story. The Huntsmans’ still reign supreme.

I really hate to say this, but I'm going to anyway. This is absolutely the best book I've read by Eva Charles to date. I had certain misgivings about Rafael in Pride. I certainly, never in my wildest dreams, believed that anyone could knock JD off his perch, but Ms. Eva made it happen. There have been a decent few alpha holes between JD and Rafa, and all of them had a certain charm, but none stole my heart in their darkness. Eva wrote a beautifully dark, difficult storyline that was more than just steamy romance (but never doubt that there was plenty of ateam). This story was one amazing thrilling and suspenseful story with superb twists that had my heart pounding. But more than the steam and the suspense, we delved into the heart of power and the defenseless. Lexie allows herself to be a strong, powerful ally while maintaining her individuality and sense of self, and Rafa realizing that allowing others in doesn't make him weak. An amazing well rounded story as we say goodbye to Porto.

The conclusion to Rafael and Lexie's story was so good and hard to put down. Pride was such an emotional roller coaster and the way things ended with Rafael and Lexie was shattering. So I was ready for the angst in Wrath.

Lexie is still in danger and while monitoring her flight the plane's radar disappears, sending Rafael into a frenzy. He fears the traffickers have found her, and will attempt to take her again.

When he's finally able to coordinate with her father, he and his team gather her and take her back to Porto where she'll be safest. While they make their way there, Lexie finally tells Rafael what she's been working on. He's furious at first but understands that her work bares looking into further.

He'll stop at nothing to keep his angel safe.

We get answers regarding Marco and Valentina's marriage.

Thank you so much to the author, and Greys Promo for this ARC to review

This story had so much going on that I was pulled in every direction finding answers to all the questions I had from the cliffhanger of the previous book. It was very interesting and engaging. The characters had a lot of growth throughout the book by learning to communicate better instead of running at the first chance. Lexie grew more comfortable with Rafael’s way of working and how he is. Their connection is much stronger and their love for one another shows through out the book.

Rafael was so protective and gentle with Lexie that it was so sweet to read seeing him in a leader capacity and then as wanting to be a partner for her. The book had some twists and I really liked how the story went. The ending was great and that epilogue was even better, I totally enjoyed it.

This book is the awesome conclusion to the Sinful Empire Series and it’s bitter sweet because I love the series, these characters that I care about & don’t want it to end. However, I’m excited as well to see the next Eva Charles series! In this book we finish Rafael and Lexie’s love journey and it’s complicated because even though they’re attracted to each other, they must trust their feelings and we’re not there yet. Rafael have to deal with his demons and Lexie have to deal with hers. Still, the burning passion is there and soon they can’t deny they’re falling in love. On the other hand, they have family issues that keep them busy and on edge. Specially when Valentina puts their loyalty to the test. They discover that a person close to them is sabotaging the launching of their new wine line and Rafael finds out that Valentina and Lexie are in danger. Then, Rafael understand that being a leader isn’t about being a powerful man but being a smart one. The end made me cry but I’m glad Rafael finds peace. I love how Lexie and Rafael find their way to each other. Awesome book and series!

Wow. Just wow!

The conclusion to this epic duet was A-MAZ-ING. Over two afternoons, I was glued to my seat reading this, and I did not want to put it down in the first!

The first book left me with my jaw on the floor, but wow. Wrath really got me good. I don't want to give anything away as this is best read first hand.

All the unanswered questions get answered in Wrath. The suspense and mysterious trafficking ring really takes a surprising turn, and I just had zero clue where that would go, but where that went was definitely not it.

Rafael and Lexies connection and chemistry is 🔥 I loved reading their story from beginning to their HEA.

FYI... Valentina's revenge was EPIC!

Eva is a sensational writer and how she can weave such a story as this, I think, is fantastic.

“Wrath” is the darkly brilliant conclusion to the Sinful Empire Duet by Eva Charles… and it was absolutely amazing! Rafael and Lexie’s love story was angsty, dramatic, and spicy, and I loved them both as individuals and as a couple. Rafael is super protective of the people he cares about, which is something I can respect. He’s headstrong and stubborn at times, but I truly think he has everyone’s best interests at heart. As for Lexie, she was smart and sassy, and I loved the fact that she didn’t let anyone walk all over her - not even Rafael. This book was super intense at times, and the plot twists had me screaming, so this was definitely a 5 star read for me!

This book is the perfect ending for this duet!!! We get all the answers to the questions we were left with in Pride and more! Rafael and Lexie’s love story is incredible. I love that even though Rafael is a dominating and powerful man, he shows Lexie the other sides of him. We see their love grow so much in this sequel that it was well worth the wait. We also see Lexie step into a larger badass role where she takes control of her life and how she wants to handle her investigation of the trafficking. Love this duet so much! It

I am entranced by the love that exists between Rafael and Lexie! These two have so much passion for life, for family but most of all for each other!

I love that through the Huntsman series Eva has shown us that even the darkest of people can be good! Rafael didn’t feel he deserved love or life. He was a man who searched in the dark, thrived in the shadows but his love for Lexie showed him that life is so much more and redemption can be achieved!

Now this series brought us some ugly villains but in the end the power of love always found a way!!

I have loved every twisted web of this series! The emotions brought out through the amazing characters will make this one of my all time favorite series. Ending on Rafael’s and Lexie’s story really brought everything together. So much packed into this book and I can say that it was done exquisitely!

Fine. Don’t think I liked Lexie and Rafael as much as Antonio and Daniela but not sure.

Good ending to the series. Some drama, good relationship moments, steam but not actually too much.

Favorite lines:
“I can feel the stupid seeping into the room.” - lol going to use this sometime

“He’s a manipulative little asshole. But until she says otherwise, he’s her manipulative little asshole.” - I’ve luckily never hated any of my friends partners, but this pretty much the point of action.

What an ending to Rafael & Lexi’s story! Plenty of heart stopping drama and heat to burn up the sheets; have your ice water or something cold to drink! I wanted to shake him sometimes for his thought process related to his father and Lexi knew how to push his buttons! The ending though was beautiful and made me cry but they were happy tears. Well done Eva Charles!

Boom! And that is how you mic drop at the end of an epic duet. Rafa and Lexie slayed every part of my soul. There are not enough words that can do their journey justice. It was beyond everything I hoped for and after that cliffy in book 1 was was on the edge of my seat… waiting patiently. The minute the story dropped on my kindle I devoured every moment. I read slow enough to savour the story but fast enough that gave me the hea I longed for. Lexie is goals. She is the type of heroine I adore and she met her match with Rafa! This is a 5 plus star read!

Wrath is the final book in the Sinful Empire Duet. I have to say I am not ready to say goodbye to all these characters. Eva writes an alpha male character like no one else. But I love how she writes her female characters. Lexie is such a strong woman who definitely doesn't take any $hit from Rafael. I love these characters on their own...but together the seem unstoppable. The twists and turns in this book had my heart pounding out of my chest and had me on the edge of my seat. I will miss Porto!!!!
Until our next adventure Ms. Eva.
