What can I say Cesare's story isn’t Unique amongst the Mafia men see Cesare Costa is one of the Capo in the Costa crime Family in New York City. The most powerful of the Five Families…… To make matters worse, he’s the cousin of the Capo of Capo
And Cesare had a type. Pretty much any woman who is Off-limits……. And one of those hookups in particular. would had led to the Families getting into a war over his reckless action…. So, to save face with the Families Cesare Was hiding out In the Least likely place Balm Harbor, Maine
To be honest when I first started reading this book, I thought that Mere was bit over the top with her OCD, but Lord have mercy. But once I found out her back story, I just wanted to cry
For anyone who has OCD, they know the significance of how everything must have its place…… With that said, imagine the term oil that came along with everything turn upside down in her life, just with one man breezing back into town and everything fell apart. Suddenly, she wasn’t safe at work anymore. Strange men were threatening her and that roommate that she loved so much
I must say that I just fell in love with Vega first, And dang Vega and Mere were Polar opposites……. I could just see myself going to the supermarket, dressed the way Vega was….. yeah, your girl here is bit Unique as well. Now to say that I hoped that JG would write a book about Vega one day , that would make me down right happy is just Putting it mildly.
This is Cesare's story. When he thought he had left Maine behind his back, he was sent back there, in snow season 🥶 Since he's the dearest of the brothers, he drags Gav with him. There he meets Mere. We have blood, betrayal, violence, babies, and sex... Ohhh... And Brio has to make one of his psycho appearance. Jessica should have matched him with Vega, Mere's cousin, she's crazy, and I've loved her. There will be a book about her? Such a mystery, who did she marry? The bad lucky Anthony?

This has to be the sweetest mafia story I have ever read before. Cesare was such a big old softy, falling hard and fast for sweet Mere. He was so sweet to her, listening to her sad past, wanting to take care of her, realizing how quickly he was falling for her. Mere was a sweetheart too. She enjoyed working by herself at the flower shop, obsessively cleaning and organizing as a way to deal with the things she had seen in her sad past. These two were made for each other. I loved the mystery of this story, and I loved the badassery of Vega. This adorable story is a perfect addition to this Costa Family Universe. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Cesare is definitely one of the sweetest mafia men I’ve ever “met.” I did lots of swooning while reading this book!
I know we all love it when our mafia men find a badass FMC that can ☠️ people and hold their own with the best of them, but I also really love it when they go for someone a little softer and it brings out that side of them.
That’s what we have with Cesare and Mere. Cesare is a capo with tattoos, a tongue ring, and a typical mafia boss persona- based off of outward appearances, you would assume he didn’t have a gentle bone is his body. Mere is soft, sweet, gentle, and kind-and a tiny bit old fashioned. She just so happens to work for a florist that is owned by the mafia and used to smuggle illegal weapons lol
Mere creates a bright spot for Cesare in his dark world where he can show his soft and sweet side, and there’s nothing better than the “tough guy” going all soft for his girl 🫠 Cesare also becomes a safe place for Mere. She has the need to control and hyper fixate on certain aspects of her life to cope with childhood trauma that she experienced, and Cesare is supportive and understanding and is in no hurry to “change her.”
They find peace in each other and it is a very beautiful thing 🖤🖤
Also, the Costa Family series is my favorite of Jessica Gadziala’s…if you didn’t already know lol
I love mafia romances and I'm a huge fan of Jessica Gadziala. I devour her books at a rate that amazes even myself, as I'm usually a slow reader.
This book is the 5th book in the Costa Family series. This is Cesare's and Mere's story.
A mafia romance that will give you all the sweet, swoony and romantic feelings. But it's also an action-packed, fast-paced page-turner romance.
Cesare is an underboss in one of the most powerful "family" in New York City. The Costa Family. He likes a certain type of woman and that's what usually gets him in trouble. Let's say his type is the forbidden type of women. He is a gentleman through and through and knows how to charm the ladies 😉
Meredith (Mere) is an intelligent woman with a very traumatic past. She is happiest when she is alone and no one notices her. She needs scrupulous cleanliness and structure in her life to avoid anxiety attacks. Her life is a repetition of the same routines every day. Until the faith put her on Cesare's path.
You can imagine that mafia life doesn't necessarily always happen in the same order, every day, right? Yes, that's what Mere had to learn in the story in a painful way.
And what Cesare has to learn, yeah...you have to read this book to find out. Let's just say this is an exciting, suspenseful and gripping story, that would make you read it in one go.
Tropes: - romantic suspense - Italian mafia - florist heroine - sweet quiet heroine - small town - hero runs his gun smuggling business through the shop she works at - hero comes to check on “business” when he sees her - bad boy with a soft spot for her - tattooed hero
POV: first person - dual
Type: interconnected stand-alone (book five)
This author hasn’t failed me. I can’t get enough of her books, they are addictive.
I absolutely loved this book. It was a sweet love a first sight story. But the biggest question for me at the end is who did Vega end up with? I loved her so was so badass and become part of the family. And loved Brio's idea of the best ways to deal with the bad guys.
I love Cesare especially how he so accepting of Mere's quirks. On the flip side, I love how accepting Mere is of Cesare's life. This book flowed well and kept you involved. I am really anxious for Vega's story. She is awesome and one of those women you wish was your friend.
This was a lovely read with Cesare and Mere as the main characters each bringing their own charm to a mafia story based in a flower shop in Maine. The total opposites in character they both change as the usual Mafia mayhem ensues and the HEA is reached. The book is so well written and the characterization is great with characters from the previous books making an appearance. No spoilers and it's a really good read.
Absolutely love! Ceasar, the man whore of the Costa family, has found the one and surprise, surprise she is not who we would expect would lock him down. Mere is quiet, reserved, shy and so sweet. The perfect opposites attract senerio.
This book was very needed in the Costa family and we get so much joy of the new characters. Plus a glimpse of others we have already enjoyed. The family is so big, I hope we get them all!
Loved Vega! Mere is a florist survived with her cousin Vega. A handsome stranger turns up looking her absent boss .Things turn bad for her when she stumbles into what's really going on in the shop and what it's being used for.Her handsome stranger becomes so much more .Great story
This is what I would call 'mafia lite' it has the basic mob stuff but is really just a sweet opposite attract love story. I really like the mcs in this story. And the crazy cousin was fun and will surely be getting a book too.
The Woman with the Flowers by Jessica Gadziala is the fifth book in the Costa Family series. Cesare is sent to Maine to check on a family business. While there he meets the woman in the flower shop, Mere. He is drawn to her and her to him. Mere is the complete opposite to Cesare, She is sweet, caring and quite. Cesare is a big tattooed scary Capo! Dealing with her past she finds her OCD ways tend to put people off, but Cesare has nothing but patience for her.
I loved this instalment in the Costa family series, Cesare and Mere are so well suited and I really enjoyed their story and as always loved the secondary characters just as much. Highly recommend this book.
Cesare Costa had been sent to Maine to hideout after sleeping with the wrong persons wife. Exile done, he has now come home to New York, but isn't home long before he is sent back to find out why the money is coming up short from their gunrunning business they run out of a flower shop.
Mere (Merideth) works in said Flower shop but has no clue about it being a front. She lives with her crazy cousin Vega who steals every scene she is in.
Cesare who has always been a man-whore knows those days are limited when he meets Mere. Mere and Cesare have no clue of the danger she is in at the shop, but Cesare is defiantly the man to protect this woman who has captured his heart.
Excellent read, as always, when it comes to Jessica Gadziala! I was surprised to see a book for Cesare so soon after meeting him, but when the characters talk, we all must listen, and wow, his story needed to be told. I loved everything about him and his way of loving Mere and accepting her quirkiness. That book had a little of everything from suspense to acceptance, and it was an enjoyable ride. I can’t wait for more from this family, especially Emilio!
I don't think I'll ever tire of reading a Gadziala book. Add onto that, that this is my favorite mafia series of hers and you have perfection. All of her books have a similar layout but with unique characters. I loved the combo of Mere and Vega being introduced. Vega for her hilarity and Mere for her being so relatable. Mere and Cesare were so sweet together. I enjoyed every minute reading this.
Oh goodness, this tattooed, pierced mafia boss will have you ALL up in your feels! Like literally swooning... Cesare was so sweet, so understanding, and Mere was well simply amazing. These two found their calm within each other! TWWTF is a great addition to the series and a definite must-read!
Swoon. I am always at a loss for words, to review a book, because what can I say? She’s done it again, I’ve fallen in love with another bad guy who is a good man!!
This MFC has a sort of OCD and childhood trauma to go with it. The MMC has an endless amount of patience and understanding for her.
“A man who didn’t raise his brows or roll his eyes at my strange behaviors, my rituals. I mean, not only that, but he actually sensed when I was feeling weird about one of those rituals being interrupted, and offered to let me fix the situation.”
He is not the sharpest tack in the Costa family - he misses the signs of her being threatened for longer than I thought he should - but he completely accepts her and it's lovely.
The MFC’s cousin is awesome. I'm hoping she shows up later in the series. A perfect example line from her,
“I really hope you find a hot guy who will get on his knees and worship your Queen Mother.”
I loved this comment,
“Love was in the details. And some men really paid attention to them.”
The devil is also in the details so I spent some time dwelling on how both things are true, and how maybe love and the devil aren't so far apart.
Meh almost killed this book for me. Caesare saves it for me. He looks good, has great manners, wears nice suits, is passionate, caring about those he loves, he’s a good mafia boy. Now this girl. She’s your average people pleaser, with anxiety who works in a flower shop- but puts in the work of an owner. Get a life. Caesar helps her with that thankfully. Then comes the part where she is threatened and tells no one. Ugh! First and foremost- never give into blackmail. It instantly puts you at a disadvantage. There is nothing wrong with pretending to get out of a tough situation - does she do that? No, she’s comfortable believing her own lies. Anything that happened to her is on her, and luckily no one else was hurt. Like Caesar the true main character. My sarcasm is fierce today apologies, I was hoping for a better escape. However, the book is also really redeemed by the fact the story continues past her being saved. The Costa family is irresistible and their entry into the story most welcome. Sad face- Brio couldn’t give someone a rescue animal in this story. It’s Meh’s fault. Meh has an awesome best friend who brings a lot of color, joy and juzz to this story. Our splash of color. The twisted rainbow of delight.
This one really sucked me in. A fantastic read with all the mushy, lovey feel good highs. But also made me think as well. About grit, mental health, asking your people for help when needed, letting go of always thinking you're "too much" as you are. The writing really made me empathize with Mere's need to always have everything clean and orderly. It's surprising how a fictional character can shape your view on whether or not to accept someone's quirks or try to change them. There are definitely toxic habits out there that need help, but just a small act of having the hero accept her as is makes you think about it as well. Not all atypical coping mechanisms are harmful.
The Woman with the Flowers is the 5th book in the Costa Family series. This is Cesare and Mere’s story.
Cesare is a member of the mafia. When there is an issue with the money they’re supposed to be receiving from their flower shop business in Maine, he is sent to check on things and see what’s happening. Cesare didn’t expect the beautiful and shy Mere who was now working at the flower shop.
Mere had a rough childhood, and her only family is her cousin and roommate Vega. She works at the flower shop and lives a quiet life. That is until the dark and handsome Cesare strolls into the flower shop where she works.
This is a sweet story. I like both Cesare and Mere, and it was cute watching them fall for each other. Cesare has never thought about being serious with anyone before, so he was vulnerable and unsure of some of his actions. Mere was a little bashful and worried about her cleaning compulsions, but Cesare never made her feel uncomfortable and accepted her as she was.
Vega is a great addition to the story, and I hope to see her again in the future.
