From USA Today bestselling author Aliyah Burke comes a playfully sexy romantic-comedy about one room, one bed, and a man who knows how to play…
When ex-pro basketball player Mitchell Anderson sees an overturned car on the edge of a cliff during a nasty snowstorm, he knows he has only minutes to rescue the woman trapped inside. What he’s not expecting is their instant attraction, or that she can deliver one hell of a pick-up line even under the most terrifying of circumstances.
Hope Roman’s entire life is on the edge. She’s already overwhelmed with grief and upset, and nearly dying is pretty much the icing on a terrible, soggy cake. So it’s just her luck that she’s suddenly snowbound at a charming little inn with the hottest, yet down right grumpiest, man she’s ever met. And naturally, there’s only one room left.
Now the pillow barrier between them keeps disappearing. And the walls are coming down. But Hope knows she doesn’t belong in Mitchell’s world any more than he belongs in hers. The question is whether either of them can trust the other long enough to play for keeps…
Each book in the Rock Falls series is * Tinkering with Love * A Sweet Spot For Love * No Cooldown for Love

confused as to why the cover is on a basketball court when the book takes place in an Inn, like i know he plays basketball but that isn’t the setting. ANYWAY on to the review, this book has a strange plot, which i like. i also liked the shared bed for half the book but what i didn’t like? how boring it was. it was kinda insta-lovey so immediately to me, im bored.
might i add nothing really happens after the plot like it’s just playing games, the single people meet up and mitchel talking to his friends. another thing i didn’t enjoy was that even though this book is third person, the main focus is mitchel. sorry but i do not care about that man, i would’ve preferred hope but whatev. i did like the characters dynamics and their banter, it made me laugh a few times.
i feel like the third act was absolutely over the top and unnecessary. it also pissed me off this his mom kept saying “her kind” and he wasn’t defending her. rather you are mad at her or not, you need to correct your mom.
it’s a pretty solid read but nothing important and if you don’t like insta-love i would recommend skipping it.
The gorgeous cover plus the synopsis were enough for me to hit request on this one. Unfortunately, while the author’s writing was solid, the plot was a little too much for me, starting with the hero discovering the heroine in a flipped-over car and then proceeding to save her before the car went down a cliff. The leads then found themselves stranded at a hotel where a singles mixer was taking place, and naturally, there was only one bed available.
The premise of this book was so fun, but the insta-love between the characters and the overly territorial hero made this book a miss for me.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
i actually really liked this book! it was so cute and it actually had a decent amount of spice. third act break up, but wasn't truly a break up honestly.
While I expected a lot from its synopsis, the insta-love/lust between the two characters, made this book a miss for me.
Thoughts: • I was bored, bored the whole damn time I ended up skimming. •I find characters' dialogues cringe-y and boring • the way they met was strange to me that the tension between them escalated quickly, hence, insta-lust/love plus the over-territorial hero irks me • I will say this again, this is insta-lust/love which I hate • the character's development was underwhelming and lacked depths
Big thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
To its credit, I read No Cooldown for Love in a couple of hours. Granted, I was on a plane with basically just my e-reader to keep me company. And even more to its credit, the whole plot basically hinges on there being one bed. Which I'm a sucker for. That's kind of where the fun of the book ended for me.
I didn't realize that this book is the third in a series, and the first chapter opens with the three guys lamenting Mitchell's recent divorce and cheating ex-wife. The way that they talk to one another just reeks of "dude" and manly men, and it was pretty off-putting. Mitchell of course swears off women, which doesn't last very long.
Then an absolutely bonkers thing happens, which is that as Mitchell is driving through the windy snowy roads of Vermont, he encounters an upside-down car perched precariously on a cliff (?!), then goes over to the car after calling 911, and rescues the woman inside?! All the while noticing how beautiful she is and chastising himself for noticing that. And then her call, without her in it, plummets off the cliff. Okay, sure, why not. I am all for accepting the weird coincidences that make romances function, but this was probably too much.
Mitchell and Hope then proceed to find the only nearby B&B, and of course there's only one room, and there's a raging snowstorm, so they're stuck. Along with a group of singles who have gathered for a singles event that gets extremely extended. There was a lot of potential here, including the pillow barrier between them that Hope builds every night that almost always ends up not working. But ultimately, Mitchell and Hope didn't talk about their feelings, instead dancing around one another and Mitchell getting alpha possessive even though neither he nor Hope ever talk about their feelings. Combined with the fact that they both in their minds say "well obviously when the storm lets up, I'll never see them again" instead of saying that to each other.
There were some sweet moments after they finally transition from idiots to lovers, but the third act breakup was truly awful. Mitchell reverted to a different version of himself, which was shocking given how he felt about Hope and what he had done to distance himself from that version of himself (though, apparently it wasn't enough). The breakup was so awful that I wasn't sure that I wanted them to get back together.
One other point in favor of this book -- it managed to be a one bed/forced proximity/stuck at the inn book for at least half the book, which is impressive.

For starters, I did not realize this was a third book in the series. This book was so boring, at times I just felt like I was skimming to finish. It did have some sweet moments and I thought the premise was fun and interesting but it just did not work for me. I also did not like how the men talked to the women. There is also way to much fat shaming and racism, which just makes me so uncomfortable. I think also since one of the main troupes in the book is insta love, and I personally do not really like this troupe, it was so hard for me to get into this book or like it.
"No Cooldown for Love" by Aliyah Burke delves into the anxieties of discovering love after experiencing fame and the insecurities that arise when allowing oneself to become emotionally invested in another person. The protagonist, Mitchell, is a former NBA player who has grappled with the repercussions of his celebrity status. After leaving his past life behind, he encounters Hope, a scientific journalist who is grieving the loss of her father figure. Their paths converge at an inn, where their tumultuous love story begins. Amidst the chaos, their relationship becomes a source of healing for both characters as they actively strive to better themselves.
Mitchell possesses numerous flaws, particularly in his perception of others, while Hope's shortcomings include her tendency to keep her emotions guarded. As the narrative progresses, both individuals undergo personal growth and development, ultimately transforming into stronger and more self-aware individuals.
This had some sweet moments and I thought the premise was fun and interesting but this didn’t work for me. I really didn’t enjoy the way the men talked about women in this book (the language they used describing women, the sexual harassment during singles games and the possessiveness). I also didn’t enjoy the suck and blow joke it had an air of homophobia. The book was incredibly to instalove/insta lust for me and I don’t even necessarily mind that. Overall this didn’t work for me but it was a quick and easy read.
A grumpy x sunshine, dual POV, interracial romance that sees an ex pro Basketball player rescuing a single plus size Black woman in the middle of a snow storm only to have them sharing one bed in a small inn while they wait for the storm to pass. This one was a bit cheesy for my tastes but still an entertaining read and okay on audio. Not my favorite by this author but worth a read nonetheless. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
Book 18 of 2023 - ☑️! Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, LLC & Aliyah Burke for an ARC copy of No Cooldown for Love in exchange for my honest review.
No Cooldown for a Love is an insta-love story between an ex-NBA player, Mitchell Anderson, and science journalist, Dr. Hope Roman. I enjoyed the diversity aspect of this book - a Black female MC, body diversity and the representation of someone who has been in the foster care system.
Mitchell is, admittedly, not my favorite male MC - some of the language he used was quite possessive, and that took me out of the story when that happened. Fellow reviewers have mentioned that they don't feel like the cover matches the story, and I would agree - while Mitchell is an ex-NBA player, the majority of the book takes place at an Inn/B&B. I feel like the cover could have reflected the book a bit better.
On the pepper scale, I'd give it 3/5 (some chapters are very open-door) and 3/5 overall.
"No Cooldown for Love" by Aliyah Burke is a romance that explores the fears of finding love after fame and the insecurities of letting yourself fall for someone. Mitchell is an ex-NBA player and has suffered the effects of his fame, and after leaving his life behind he meets Hope. Hope is a scientific journalist that had just lost her father figure. Both find themselves stuck at an inn where their love story starts. Their love story is chaotic while healing in a way. Both actively try to improve themselves.
Mitchell has a lot of faults, starting with his idea of people. Hope has a lot of faults including keeping everything close to her chest. Throughout their story, both grow as characters.
I found Hope to be very real. I am a plus-size woman myself, so her statements about how Mitchell wants her is too relatable. She sheds light on the feeling of not being enough, and how in society's view, we aren't seen as worthy of an ex-NBA player. Though she has multiple degrees and is a Doctor!!!! I think it is honestly a great book from that perspective, and has a lot of insight for others that have never experienced that sort of feeling of unworthiness. Mitchell made me want to rip my hair out, while he is very much a human throughout the book. I found the way he treated certain insecurities of Hopes maddening. However, he learns from his mistakes and understands that his actions and words have an impact.
It is quite spicy of a read!
Trigger warnings: - Shaming on body and clothing sizes - Cheating (not the main characters tho) - Toxic relationships - Death - Foster care system (Only briefly touched on)
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with this ARC.
Mitchell and Hope meet while Mitchell is rescuing Hope out of her overturned car after crashing in a snowstorm. Together they find shelter in an inn where they have to stay for quite some time. There is a mixer happening at the time they are there so we get to know quite a few side characters. The setting was cozy, made even better by the infamous one bed trope (at an inn!!!). Perfection. 😍 The MMC radiates pure golden retriever energy and is quite gifted in bedroom related activities 😌 I also really liked the FMC and her ability to advocate for herself as a Black Woman who is confronted with white centered beauty standards.
Unfortunately, I’ve found this book overall lacking for giving the reader the opportunity to connect more with the MCs. I finished the book with the impression of not really knowing Mitchell and Hope or anything of their backstory except that Hope’s mentor died and that she grew up in the foster care system, and Mitchell got a divorce. I personally struggle to connect with characters who are written in third person compared to a dual POV in first person, but that is a very subjective point of criticism.
Overall, I gave this book three stars because it was cute and the MCs were very likeable. The substraction of two stars is due to the criticism mentioned above.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
No Cooldown for Love is an only one bed/one room at the end, insta-love-ish book. It is about Mitchell and Hope. Mitchell sees a car at the edge of a cliff in a snowstorm and rescues the woman inside. He is instantly attracted to her . Hope is dealing with the loss of her mentor and getting stuck upside down in a car, during a snowstorm was not in the plans. Now she's snowbound with the hottest guy she has ever seen, and there is only one room and bed that they must share. As each of their walls start to come down they begin to wonder if they can be in each other's worlds.
This was a good book, and the characters were interesting. I liked Hope as a strong, confident woman and thought Mitchell was a kind, caring guy (just keep his mother away from me!). I just struggled with a lot of telling, rather than showing. I hate when a book tells me about things that happen, rather than experiencing the events.
When we got character interactions, the banter between the two was top-notch and an enjoyable ride. I also really like the friendship between Mitchell and his two friends Tully and Linc. I like a good, positive, male relationship.
Overall, this was a quick, easy, entertaining read. I look forward to checking out Aliyah Burke's books in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
Thanks to Net Galley and Entangeled Publishing I just finished No Cooldown for Love by Aliyah Burke. This is a Contemporary Romance introducing us to Hope and Mitchell. This is the third book in the Rock Falls series. I enjoyed re-visiting this world and this group of friend. Hope and Mitchell met on a dark and stormy night! After Mitchell found Hope on the side of the rode after an accident. This quickly became a Forced Proximity - sharing a bed romance. Mitchell who is a recently divorced, retired professional athlete rescued Hope from a wintery car accident after she left her mentor’s funeral. They happen upon a singles get together at the bed and breakfast as they sought shelter from a severe snow storm. Hope and Mitchell quickly began to develop feelings for one another as they were forced to share a room during the severe snow storm. I really enjoyed this book and this couple. The third act conflict - miscommunication- was quickly resolved and the story ended with a great wrap up for the series highlighting the friend group of this series. I gave this book 4 Stars and would recommend this book and series.
Book: No Cooldown for Love by Aliyah Burke Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: Instalove, one bed, forced proximity Publication: 26th June 2023
If you want an instalove-one bed-forced proximity trope book.. we’ll look no further, no cool-down for live is right up your alley.
Alibag Burke comes back once again with a powerful punch with the third book in the Rock fall series. An ex-NBA divorcee player and a scientific journalist who recently lost someone close to her heart. This story covers such depths with the characters showing their faults, flaws , insecurities, mistakes, hopes and aspirations for the future.
All in all, despite a few of the unnecessary plot stretching and irrelevant scenes, this book was truly the best I have read this month.
Thank you NetGalley and entangled publishing as well as the author for the ARC copy.
DNF at 61%. This book's tone really did not match the cover. I was expecting spicy sports romance not snowed in at an Inn. And the book was primarily snowed in at an Inn. I'm stopping at 61% because I'm satisfied with the instant love, Inn Romance and lost interest in continuing. I think this would make a great Novella with just that component because the characters were fun but it just couldn't propel me forward and I had a really hard time getting over how misaligned the cover & contents of the book were. Add that to reading this in the summer, and this was just a challenging combination for me. This was my first Aliyah Burke novel though, and if a plot interested me again in the future I would definitely pick up another book by this author.
What an amazing love story. I loved loved loved the plus size representation, and the strong, independent female mc was just perfect. I love the one bed and grunpyxsunshine tropes, but together? *chef kiss* The characters were all so loveable, and the banter was top-notch.
A big thank you to Netgalley and Entangled publishing for giving me the chance to read and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
it's hard to rate a book on its 2 first chapters so the 2 stars are probably harsh but I can't go on when at only 10%, after 24 hours of knowing each other, he refers to her as "my snowflake" (not skin tone related). no slow start that's for sure 💀
they're way too intense way too fast it's just not for me so I'm leaving it there, hope someone can enjoy their story and Mitchell's uncomprehensible character more than I did 🥰
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley and Entangled publishing!
I am screaming!!! This book was so good. It was the perfect build up and the one bed, one room trope gets me everytime. Honestly I wanna live in their town and be their friend.
I have been a fan of Aliyah Burke since I read her Megalodon Team series. I had no idea that I have missed so many of her books. Now that I have read several of her newer books, I am back in stride again. I have read all three books in the “Rock Falls Series.” Aliyah Burke has done an awesome job with this series. I love the characters, drama, humor, camaraderie, with a plot that held me captive. Mitchell is a former NBA baller. Mitchell and Flykra met when he rescues her when her car slides off the road in a snowstorm. Mitchell is instantly attracted to Flykra. The two have awesome chemistry which made the book flow so easily. As usual there is always drama but Mitchell and Flykra prevailed. Flykra is dealing with the death of her father, and she is grieving. The couple had their ups and downs with insecurities. When Mitchell and Flykra find themselves in forced proximity due to the snowstorm the two learn a lot about each other. I was a little bit disappointed with Mitchell for the hurtful things he said but he got it together. Glad that plus-sized female characters are making their way into more books. All in all, this was a really good book. I recommend it for your reading enjoyment.
I received an ARC via NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
It started great and then it's like the writing turned to mush. It became unbelievable with every chapter. Mitchell rescues Hope when she is trapped on a cliff upside down in a car with her leg trapped. He single-handedly saved her and the second he did, her car skitters down the cliff in true TV fashion. It read as a TV plot. In the next moment, they are now at some cute inn and there's only one bed and she is checked by some strangers (apparently inn has a medical team I think) and she is deemed fine. A couple of chapters later she is already at a singles event in that same inn laughing and chatting while Mitchell is moping for no reason in his/their room. I'm sorry how is she not checked by a medical team????? If it was a blizzard this can turn into a serious injury not to mention THE TRAUMA of the accident. I felt like this was just too insta for me, the writing I mean. The author just skipped this important moment and it felt like this was a filler to make their meet-cute more dramatic. I'm sorry but I'm not buying it and I just feel that there are things that can be overlooked in a romance novel but health is just not one of them.

Ms. Burke knocked this one out of the park. I absolutely love this book. It was so well written, and flowed so easily hope with such a beautiful character from the very beginning with her life, literally hanging by a string she brought joy and humor into a dire situation. How could you not love Mitchell he was a very of finding love again, but no way could he deny his attraction to hope after the two of them are snowed in for several days. The chemistry between them was off the charts from the very beginning these two eventually found themselves in love with each other due to old insecurities on both of their parts, there happily ever after was threatened. Thankfully, Mitchell got his stuff together and was able to win hope back she did not make it easy for him and I actually really like that about her because he said some very hurtful things but thankfully they were able to get things back on track, please read this book. This was such a good read. I absolutely loved everything about it.
This is the third book of the Rock Falls series but my first by this author. This was a sweet and cute story with a forced proximity trope where the characters instantly fell for each other. It explored the anxieties and insecurities of falling in love after experiencing fame and letting yourself be vulnerable enough to give yourself emotionally to another person. Mitchell is a former NBA player and has experienced fame and has had to learn to deal with his celebrity status. When he meets Hope after saving her life in a snowstorm, he is instantly attracted to her. Hope is dealing with the grief of losing her father. As they are forced to spend d time together, they both become a source of healing and emotional support for each other. The story had some really sweet and emotional moments, but there were also times of fun. The characters were interesting and likable and I enjoyed seeing them grow throughout the story. I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Ok. Ok. Strangers to Lovers and one bed??? Mitchell and Hope meet when he spots her car upside down almost falling off the cliff. Mitchell couldn’t help but save her but he finds himself attracted to Hope even though she is in extreme danger. Once Mitchell saves Hope they are forced to find a hotel because the snowstorm is too bad to drive and the roads are shut down. Only one room available and the pair must share the same bed because hope won’t allow Mitchell to sleep on the floor.
The attraction between the two is cute and they couldn’t help but fall for each other. I read this in one sitting and I really enjoyed this book. This was my first read from this author and I will be reading the other books based off of this one. 4.5/5 ⭐️ read.

In "Cool Down For Love," Mitchell, a former NBA player, has grappled with the consequences of his fame and crosses paths with Hope, a scientific journalist coping with the recent loss of her father figure. Their paths converge at an inn, where the foundations of their love story are laid. Mitchell's character exhibits various imperfections, primarily rooted in his preconceived notions about people, while Hope's own faults encompass her proclivity for keeping her emotions guarded. As their narrative unfolds, both characters undergo significant growth, evolving into more resilient and self-aware individuals. Their love story, marked by its chaotic yet therapeutic nature, is driven by their mutual determination to better themselves. "Cool Down For Love" presents an enticing concept, incorporating many of the romance tropes I typically cherish, such as the one-bed scenario, forced proximity, and a celebrity romance.
I loved reading about Hope and Mitchell's story. Their meeting was due to an accident Hope was involved in, but Mitchell knew there was something special about the woman named Hope who he had just saved. Mitchell fought his attraction to Hope with everything he could, but failed due to his jealousy towards the men at the Bed and Breakfast. Once Mitchell was in, he was in and gave Hope his all. Hope was such a good person who was dealing with loneliness and grief, but managed to let Mitchell in her heart. I'm glad for the friends they had and made because they kept them together when Mitchell didn't know what to do. I'm glad Hope and Mitchell found love with each other. Such a good read.
Love this series and how hard these men love. The women rock as well. This town and the people in it are heart warming. Mitchell and Flykra were sparking from jump. In a way I get why they didn't share basics but the whole fiasco with his mother and ex good have been avoided. The time apart didn't destroy anything. It made both see the never ending love. The besties had me rolling as that is exactly the way it goes when you are bonded in brotherhood and sisterhood. I wanted words with Mitch's mother. Nope she is permanently on my it list. What she did to her children is more than slap worthy. I wanted more with these couples beyond the one wedding. I was kind of hoping for a triple wedding since everyone is so close.
Although these are stand-alone novels, the characters are largely identical and lack depth. Also, the books all end with the women in the same exact circumstances, which feels unnecessary. Happily ever after can look a lot of different ways
In this book, the circumstances under which the main characters meet is far-fetched, although the conflict and its eventual resolution feels semi-plausible.
I appreciate that the author created characters who have endured various hardships, but the way those play out feels shallow and simplistic.
I made my way through the series, but don't recommend it.

Hope needed rescuing physically and emotionally after losing her mentor. Mitchell swept in not looking for love, but willing to give in quicker than Hope. This was one of those books that made me love love. The whole time I was just waiting for it to happen, and the friends just made the story better. I felt the drama was thrown in just to have a little drama. I would have enjoyed ut just fine without it, but I mean what's a love story without a fight for love. Anyway a great story with a smart heroine.
Ugh! Why do good books have to be ruined by making the characters so stupid? I'm so tired of male character doing devastating things to thw female characters, and then, because the female character love the male character SOOOOOOO MUCH, the ass gets a pass. And why is there always a "friend" that sides with the ass and makes the female character feel guilty for the way the ass made her feel? Ugh!
