Andres “A” Alcazar. Ruthless cartel leader. The last man in the world Hope wanted anything to do with. Until he was swaggering into her private investigation office. He needed to find a snake in his organization. And he wanted her to do it. Falling for him was never part of the plan…
Jessica Gadziala is a USA TODAY bestselling author of over a hundred romance novels. She is a big believer in strong heroines, well-rounded side characters, and heroes who know how to treat their women.
Jessica lives in New Jersey with her seven parrots, three dogs, two rabbits, and a whole flock of chickens.
It feels like a life time ago since JG introduced us to A: Andres Alcazar, in Navesink Bank’s as the local drug kingpin. We met A in Niro's book. ……. I’ve always wonder if she would give A His own book. Well, she finally did it. And what a book it is.
A: Andres Alcazar know that Greed was a powerful motivator. He knew that personally, coming from nothing. Having to steal and fight for everything. Listening to his mother cry when she thought he was sleeping, but he was awake with a rumbling, empty stomach. He also understood really well how that once you started getting a little money, you were even hungrier for more.
Andres got Somewhat flaxen in his new position in Navesink Bank’s away from the Mexican cartel. So, I guess you can say that Andres was not surprised Find himself in a predicament. He has a snake in his house, slithered along corrupting anyone in its path.…….. so since he didn’t know who he could trust, he Outsource to the local Private investigator
Ok so there are few things that somewhat confuses me in this book is - how Hope works as a private investigator who is one of those type of women that takes -no-prisoners, she is a badass woman who never let anyone even look at her sideways… . But yet, at the same time, she lets her coworkers talk to her like shit. And mind you Hope, she is one of the Princesses, The daughter of a biker from the Henchmen club (OG Henchmen (Remy) , and her mother is a profiler from Hailstorm too
So, with that said, I had difficulty. Reading this book at times, was it a solid 5? No. Was it a solid 4, maybe. So, I was crossed between rating this book as a four or a three. Which was really difficult for me, considering how much I love this author’s writing skills and pretty much all of her books.………
Hell, I can’t believe that I would have to remind anyone how much I love this author’s writing skills after all this time. And how I just love all of the back stories that come along with Navesink Banks…… with just over 50+ books under my belt read ……. Maybe I’m just trying to convince myself that shit happen ….. Anyhow. I’d like to come back to this book later on in the future and reevaluate my opinion on it. So, with that said Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review
For me, this one was the best one yet !!! I enjoy reading this author's books but I was especially curious about A and Hope, and I am so happy to say that it exceeded my expectations.
Can't wait to see what's next... Vi's book should definitely be interesting 🙃
I love Jessica Gadziala’s books, and reading the ones set in Navesink Bank is like visiting old friends. But I don’t think this is one of her best. When you’re as prolific as this writer, there will inevitably be sime misses, and for me, this is one of them.
All of the things we expect from Jessica Gadziala’s books are present; strong characters; snappy dialogue, lots of action and great interior design (A’s library!). I’ve been looking forward to Hope’s book; Jessica writes such terrific, kickass female character. And A’s laidback charm has intrigued readers through a couple of previous books.
I was disappointed by Of Snakes and Men; I think Hope was wasted. Through previous books, there was a lot of build-up to seeing Hope as a PI, and I was looking forward to seeing her in action. But Hope does nothing in this book other than fall in love. Her detecting consists of overhearing a conversation (and the outcome of that is a plot-hole). She gets beaten up and from then on, is basically the heroine in distress, who takes no part in the action.
Nor was I convinced by the chemistry with A. Jessica is usually good at building the tension between characters, but in this book it felt rushed rather than organic. The best relationship in the book is between Hope and Val.
Disappointingly for a Jessica Gadziala book, Hope felt more like one of those romantic heroines who call themselves strong and independent, but never carry through with more than lip service to those qualities.
I know authors who make a living from indie publishing are under pressure to release books at a rapid pace, and perhaps a series with so many books is bound to run the well of creativity dry every so often. I’ll still buy Jessica Gadziala’s books, because even on a bad day she’s never less than entertaining,
Read this one to keep up with favourite characters; for A reading to Hope in the library, and for the dogs.
Its not easy being a drug kingpin. You need to be able to trust the men you work closely with. Andres Alcazar realizes he has someone who is pretending to be loyal to him betraying him behind his back.
Hope is an OG Henchman kid. Her parents are Renny and Mina. She grew up being trained in everything and has for years been training and trying to be accepted as a private investigator. The men she work with and for treat her like crap but she doesn't let that kill her spirit. She is surprised when Andres walks into their office and demands that she be the one who ferrets out the snake in the grass in his organization much to the reluctance of her boss.
I have probably said this many times after reading one of Jessica's books, but I thought Hope and Andres were perfect for each other. Total opposites yet fit together like a glove.
Always a perfect blend of romance, suspense, humor and strong family ties.
This is that classic dangerous romance that’s still safe. Where the MMC is the leader of a cartel but the focus is squarely on the romance, and I’m ok with that. Makes me want to read the earlier books, since this seems part of a bigger series/spinoff but still easy enough to read without a lot of confusion. But I would pay attention to content warnings for assault, torture, death (though it’s not so explicit it’s still there). Basically if you want a romance that’s close to the dark side but don’t need all the nitty gritty of it.
One of my favorites by Jessica Gadziala in a LONG TIME! It is rare to get one of her books that includes one of the Princesses (Hope) of the OG Henchmen (Remy) and one of the most enigmatic characters Jessica has ever introduced in A: Andres Alcazar, Navesink Bank's local drug kingpin.
Hope is a private investigator in one of two in Navesink Bank, but unlike working with The Professionals, she's stuck working with a group of misogynistic men who really don't let her into any big cases, and certainly not on any of her own.
Andres, or A, knows he has a snake in the grass in his organization. Unfortunately he can't really hire The Professionals, and he's stuck going to Hope's PI group. When he suggests she be the only one involved, the group of men she works with lose their minds and figure out a way to lie to one of the most powerful men in Navesink Bank.
The tension in this book, before AND after A figures out he's being lied to, is absolutely delicious! I adored the banter between Andres and Hope, Vi and Hope, basically just the way Hope interacts with everyone including the dog, Val. She's been treated as an afterthought for so long that when people, and dogs, really start to get in her business it freaks her right the heck out.
Hope's ability to do her job, even while being watched by literally everyone, is also shocking considering I'd be a babbling mess on the floor if A was messing with me on the daily!
Andres' need to separate Hope from anything that might put her at risk leads to some awful miscommunication that had me in tears at one point, and wanting to do some serious damage to him myself, but it works itself out fairly quickly - especially when Luis outs himself as the man of the hour.
The climax was phenomenal, with the OG Henchmen riding behind Remy to help Andres save Hope and the dogs, my heart was pounding like crazy!! The epilogue was tender and wonderful, and made my heart sing. I cannot WAIT to see what's coming next from Ms. Gadziala!
We have been waiting for A and Hope’s story for a while, and it did not disappoint! Jessica Gadziala created a story that was enthralling, suspenseful, funny at times, and full of acceptance. I have always been interested in A and his part in the criminal world, so finally, seeing him from the inside was enjoyable. Hope and all of her Biker Princess/Badass energy kept me interested until the end. Jessica Gadziala has created another set of characters that were complex as well as understood. I would love to see more from A’s men in the future.
I always liked Hope since she is a lot like I was so many years ago: active, casual, not girly girl ... I love Andreas for me, oh I mean Hope. Andreas treats Hope like every women alive would like to be treated by a man. I loved the storyline, the flow throughout, and the ending. Thanks JG, another home run.

Hope, she is independent and a kickass h. She grew up in a family who did not abide by the law, but were fearlessly protective and made sure that the females in their family could protect themselves. This h is a private investigator and 100% stubborn. She isn't given the respect she deserves from her male counterparts but she sticks it out in the hopes that they start treating her like an equal.
Andres, "Hey freaking Mama" 🔥🔥🔥🔥 this H had me falling in love with him, with one f****** line(saying). He didn't grow up in the best circumstances, which led him to live the life he has now. He is the head of the cartel, and he has a snake in his midst, he has been a considerate boss, but money is a powerful motivator and he doesn't know who to trust.
The chemistry between A and Hope was intense, the steamy moments were 🔥 and when the people who want to take him out, hurt his woman, he goes full on revenge.
Hope and A!!! The story we have patiently waited for. So good. Hope opened up her heart to the dogs and the man that created the pack! Loved seeing and hearing about both of these characters! Can’t wait to see what is created next by JG
I’ve had a break of reading books but just listening to audiobooks. I’m a bit behind on the reviews of those. I decided I needed to read - at my pace and in my voice. The only author I could trust to get me back to the books was JG. She has a gift for romance. Her heroes are alphas, her females are capable and her storyline’s are fun and happy (endings 😜) I mean these heroes go at their women so good I’m exhausted just reading about it!!
I didn’t think I’d get into the drug kingpin alpha but he was irresistible. He knew he wanted Hope, he knew she was capable and he wasn’t put off by all that is Navesink Bank - ie daddy biker. I didn’t like she wasn’t the one to sort out the villain but happy that the bikers got involved even in a small way. Great epilogues too.🙃
Hope is one strong independent woman and A encourages her to be so, they are good together even if they both fought it at the start. I like these spin off’s from Henchmen MC, Hopes dad Renny is a club brother, her mum is a profiler so she’s had an alternative upbringing where as A brought himself up before being in a cartel then pulling away and taking over his own cartel . She has an enormous jigsaw of a family and he has men surrounding him that he finds he can’t trust. He trusts Hope though right from the off. What is it about a man calling a woman ‘Mama’ that gets us straight in the ovaries?
This is Hope's story, she's Rennys daughter from the Henchmen MC and she's a private investigator working with colleagues who aren't the friendliest. She's gets the worst assignments until Andres comes in. He's the local drug cartel leader and knows he had snakes in his organization and he's here to hire them and specifically Hope. Its, as always, a great story. It's well written, the characters are great and some familiar faces show up. The lead characters are really interesting, I liked Hope as she was a strong lead as was Andres as her love interest. Great story in the Navesink Bank universe
Yes, finally we got A and Hope, and Val, lovely loyal Val. Another smash hit from Jessica Gadzialia, this story had it all and I loved the "ma" and "mamas" we got throughout. Love this couple 💜
I was waiting for this book! I even got my wish because I wanted A to be with Hope. These two were awesome together with A stepping back and letting Hope handle her business into looking for the snake in his organization, and having her back when she needed backup. Loved the daddy/daughter moment with Renny & Hope. I hope I don’t have to wait to long for VI’s book, because even though she is more in tune with herself doesn’t make her any less difficult to be with than Hope. There is a reason why they are so close.
I hate reviewing books but Jessica Gadziala writes so dang good I can't not praise the women. This was good the lead female was strong and snarky the lead male sweet and still strong without any a hole tendencies. Love seeing the cousins and biker family for a minute. If you like her Henchman series you will like this as well.
This book was so much fun. I love A, he is the perfect match for Hope. Thier banter was great. I loved Vi and Hopes interactions. I loved seeing Renny and Hope together. This was everything I wanted it to be.
I've been waiting for Andres and Hope story for so long. And here it is, better and more exciting than I could have imagined.
A, short for Andres, like everyone calls him, was a very interesting and entertaining background character in Jessica's previous books. Andres Alcazar is the local drug kingpin. The head of the Alcazar Cartel. He's not like his predecessors from the Soto Cartel. He has principles, and he has rules. One of the rules is that women and children are of-limit in the "cartel business." The other rule is that traitors must be severely punished, because loyalty is the most important thing for A.
Hope grew up in an MC bikers club. Her dad and her "club family" were outlaw bikers, members of paramilitary organization, loan sharks and of course, private investigation firms members. In her life, criminals have always played a "certain" role. But she tried to distance herself from it. Consciously or unconsciously. That's why A, the drug dealing mafia boss, was a no-go for her. Did she succeed? Hahaha, no...
I love this book. It's so damn exciting and entertaining. An action-packed and gripping romance with a badass heroine and a very patient cartel boss 🤣

This writer has the potential to do great works. The last few series after the original henchmen and the investigators series have pretty much been cookie cutter books. Slot a, slot b, sort of thing. It’s sad to see these great storylines sort of being phoned in though because she has such an ability to tell a great in-depth story when she’s of a mind to do so, unfortunately she hasn’t been for some time now. I hate to see such a great author bringing such mediocre books.
Been waiting for A's story, he's clearly inspired by Rio from Good Girls and I love it! It was a standalone kind of separate from the Navesink universe and the Henchmen except for some cameos. Not exactly the best story I was expecting with these characters but a good version anyway.
Of Snakes And Men is a standalone by Jessica Gadziala in her Navesink Bank world. I'm so glad we finally got a book on Hope and with A, bonus! Since meeting them in previous books they have intrigued me and I was not disappointed at all that they ended up together. Hope is a Henchmen MC princess being Renny's daughter and she's also a P.I. trying to prove herself in a man's world (aka her to co-workers) that she was just as good if not better than them. She gets that chance when A comes into her office looking to hire them because he fears there is something going on in his organization that he doesn't know about. He only wants Hope, for many reasons but to me, the most important one is she's from his world growing up in the MC, so she knows what to look for. Hope starts out hating him for being forced to do this, especially living with him, posing as his new maid, and just as he's getting past her walls he's does the typical man thing trying to protect her and says bye, but it's definitely not that easy in Navesink Bank. I gave this book a 4-star rating and a 3-spicy rating. I was happily surprised to learn A wasn't just some cold-hearted cartel leader but had a soft heart when needed and a love of books! I mean he unintentionally got Hope to go to the library to actually look at books… to read!! And Val just stole my heart that adorable boy. Val is definitely Hope's now that's for sure. The epilogue as always was awesome, loved it! I can't wait to see what Jessica gives us from Navesink Bank next, maybe Vi?
