Did not finish! I finally gave up at 76%

I usually refrain from rating books I don't finish, BUT this one upset me to such a degree I had to respond and give it one star! The first half of the book was okay. I was captivated and intrigued. The second half, however, jumped shark. It fell apart and felt like an entirely different story. It became rushed, discombobulated, and sloppy. Not to mention, the hero went from someone I liked to someone I despised. I finally gave up! I'd had enough!

3.5 ★'s

Let's cut to the chase ~ overall, I enjoyed the story. I liked both Cole and Angel. But were there problems, definitely...I'll get to those later.

Cole comes across Angel while he's at an allied motorcycle club and she's a victim at the hands of one of those members. That was a pivotal moment for Cole and he couldn't stand by and do nothing.

It was a bit disconcerting how quickly Angel got over the incident and wanted to be with Cole...but she's a cop's daughter and I could imagine that she was raised a certain way. She wanted her due and Cole helped her get that. From that shared caused, the relationship morphed into something more. It seemed they both found something in each other that they needed.

Unfortunately, not everyone was happy about Angel and Cole's relationship. I was a bit surprised at Mack's involvement and what all he did...especially since there didn't seem to be any repercussions!!

description

This book really reminded me of Sons of Anarchy and Cole is definitely Jax. But Cole suffers from the "woe is me" syndrome and thinks he's too dark for Angel and obviously this causes a lot of problems. They both have too much pride and are too stubborn to try and figure things out and just let their relationship go even after it's obviously they were manipulated by someone else!

But they do have some really sexy scenes and I loved when Cole would get all Alpha and want Angel to say she belonged to him. And of course, I loved when he talked dirty!

description

There's some interesting twists and Angel comes back into Cole's life but Cole has changed. Regrettably, he still doesn't come clean with her and this leads to his downfall.

I've seen it said that the Cole in the first half of the book is not the same as the Cole in the second half and you're darn right he's not. Thankfully, he decides what he wants and goes after it. I loved the change that came over him and "who" he had to be for certain someones!

Angel's Aunt Natalie was amazing but I was a bit surprised at who she got involved with! Crystal was intriguing and I would have liked to see more of her as well as Crash. I enjoyed quite a few of the other brothers - Cajun, Red dog, Kilt Boy and Green - and would love to read their stories!

Onto the problems:

* The main one for me was the editing...it really needed more editing and less describing of every little detail.

* I loved how it veered away from SoA but by that point, it was already so heavily ingrained that I had a hard time with Cole just being Cole.

* Some of the events were definitely unbelievable...i.e., the tattoo (I guess it could be realistic...it just didn't 'read' that way), Mack not being held accountable, someone being the PERFECT match (although I was happy about it), and what Shannon did to name just a few.

* As I mentioned, Cole did change but what was weird was the way he spoke changed about two-thirds through and he started sounding like one of Kristen Ashley's men.

Even with the problems, I still enjoyed the story. And I was happy to get an epilogue but it's almost as if things wrapped up too perfectly. Good thing I loved every minute of it!

3.99 almost a solid 4 stars
"Love I feel for you, babe? It’s rock solid. Ain’t nothing gonna shake it.”

Outlaw is the story of Angel and Cole, to understand them now we have to go back to the past and see for ourselves how those nine days forever changed who they are deep inside. The past and the present both different in not only time but tone and depth, the people we meet in the beginning are not the same ones we end with, so go in with an open mind and an open heart because it is one bumpy ride ...

Cole
He wanted to protect her, care for her. Keep her. He shook himself. He couldn’t let her in. He was a shell of a man with a black hole for a soul. He had nothing to give her.

Cole is a man with a blackened heart, and while his moral compass may seem broken there are a few lines he won't cross, one of them being human trafficking. The day he meets Angel, he knew he couldn't leave without taking her with him, using his position and pull, he takes her out of there and tries to do what is right by her. But the man she needs and the man he is, he knows he's no good for her...sad that he can't see what she see's.

Angel
This little wildcat, who was all claws, was responding to him with a sweetness that heated his blood.

Angel went from one shituation to the next, but Cole quickly proves that he is nothing like the bastards who put her in his protection in the first place. Slowly picking up her battered pride and emotions, she sees the man that he tries to hide away and it is him that has her heart opening up and trusting him with all that she is. All they have is nine days, and it takes some pretty fucked up shit to test your trust in someone and Cole has proven himself time and time again. From revenge, retribution and just simply protecting her. He managed to save her life and break her heart all in nine days ...

Three years later, unimaginable circumstances bring them back together, but one thing remains the same the love they feel is deep in their bones and nothing will ever change that. That feeling of finding the missing piece of your soul takes them back as if no time has ever passed, completing each other in every way imaginable.
“Nine days?”

“That’s how long it took for you to get your hooks in me, babe.” He searched her eyes. “And they were in deep. So deep I couldn’t get free if I tried. And I tried. I did try.”

But in those three years a lot has changed, it's not just as simple as Cole and Angel, a lot more is on the line and one has to decide if it's really worth it all...can love really be enough to save, to live and to forgive ???

I can't really say much without giving anything away, this is just one of those stories you have to dive right in and live through. The book is almost like two different stories, because Angel and Cole were both different people from the beginning to the end, the only thing constant is the bond they had to one another. There is a sense of insta-ness in the beginning, but once you accept it for what it is, then everything kind of falls into place . Cole and Angel aren't perfect , they do things that will piss you off and things you will not agree with but they are who they are and it wouldn't be their story without it all. The beginning was action packed and full of heat, while the second half was filled with heat, heart and hopes for second chances in life and in love. Enjoyably-frustrating biker romance, recommended more for those who believe in soul mates and sexond chances.

4-4.5 Roaring Bikes Rating

“You had me, in that one moment, in that one gesture. I was yours, completely.”

My Cole

My Angel

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*

Cole Austin, while visiting a friendly chapter for a good old-fashioned patch over witnesses a girl in handcuffs being dragged through a court yard.

Angel, is a good girl who with shitty luck gets into a dangerous situation - kidnapped and sold to a scumbag biker for his sick amusement.

Cole is a hardcore biker and a VP of The Evil Dead MC, but when he locks eyes with Angel something clicks inside of him. Something that screams "mine" and "must protect". He makes a deal with Angel's "owner" and takes her away with him back to his room at the club house. I gotta give it to Angel even with the crazy situation and being cuffed for 3 days and traumatized, like no woman should even hear about or have to experience, she fights Cole. Somewhere along trying to kill him and trying to run away she starts developing feeling for him. He starts healing her at the same time as she is giving him something, filling his dead soul (or so he believes).

Honestly, I am surprised by how comfortable she gets around him especially after what that scumbag biker who bought her did, but Cole is gentle and with their first time I completely forgot that he was a badass & dangerous biker. He is gentle and takes care of her.

“This meant something to me, Angel. I want you to know that. You giving that to me, letting me be the one you trusted enough to let in. Meant the world, babe.”

There are many obstacles that they face mostly because they are of 2 different world. One big ass obstacle was such a horrible move that drives her away. They spend 9 days together and it is another 3 years before they see each other again. Angel shows up all pimped out at the MC with a surprise and plea for Cole's help. After 3 years they both moved on but that connection runs deep and clicks right back into place.

“I’ve cut a lot of women loose in my life. But…I don’t want to cut you loose, baby.”

I was hesitant about this story as I had some friends DNF it, but I took the risk because I am just a glutton for punishment and well a hot biker. I was surprised because the book almost payed homage to SOA (PS. My favorite show... hence all the SOA GIFs). There were many elements and scenarios that came straight out of the show but in their own way.
Cole was a gentler biker than my man Horsie... If I can steal the comparison from some he's a cross between Kristen Ashley's Shy and Joanna Wylde's Horse and Madeline Sheehan's Deuce. He was all bad-ass but when it came to Angel he was a pussy cat who groveled at her feet practically every time he screwed up and being that he is an outlaw biker... he did that A LOT.

If you enjoy a good biker story with lots of booze, bikes, hot sex, parties, family drama, and blood... this a book for you. So don't be shy jump on that Harley and feel that engine purr and send you into bliss...

This is for My Eric Tormentor:

“In case I don’t say it enough, in case you got any doubt, let me clarify. Love I feel for you, babe? It’s rock solid. Ain’t nothing gonna shake it.”

“God, Angel. This is where I belong. This is where I’ve always belonged.”

***From Author's FB page: "I originally wrote OUTLAW as a stand alone book, with no plan to write a sequel or turn it into a series. But, it has been so well received, and so many have asked for more, that I have decided to write one or two more stories with these characters. Thank you all SO much for all your kind words and great reviews! Love you all!"

So by now we have all:
seen Sons of Anarchy
read Motorcycle Man
read Own the Wind
read Undeniable
and know what to expect when it comes to books about Bikers.

Lots of heavy/hard sex
Lots of drinking
Old ladies
Biker sluts/hanger ons
Blood shed
Brotherhood
Rival clubs
Trouble with the law.

This book doesn't disappoint!

When Cole first see's Angel, she is handcuffed and being dragged across a fellow clubs compound.
He doesn't know why but this disturbs him and he steps in to someone elses business and takes her from him.

He brings her back to his club and promises he will keep her safe.
All it takes is 9 days for them to fall for each other.

Then something happens that I'm not tell you about it and they part ways.

Jump to 3 years later.

Angel needs something from Cole, finally getting the guts, she turns up at the clubhouse and it's as if they haven't been apart.

They are still desperately in love with each other.
3 years can change a person and it clearly has changed them both.

But she needs Cole now more than she ever has.

He goes back to Phoenix with her but hasn't been honest about things in California.

When Angel finds out the truth she sends him packing. Even though it breaks her heart.

How will Cole win her back?
With the help of her Aunt Natalie they find a way to give us a HEA.

THAT'S ALL I'm saying about it as don't want to give anything away.

HONEST OPINION

I really liked this.
I mean Yes, Cole just KEPT fucking up and she kept giving him her forgiveness.
Yes they clearly needed to communicate more.
Yes Angel needed to get over her pride a few times sooner than she did.

But you felt what they felt. and fell for them.

Great Secondary characters, Natalie, Crash, Crystal etc.

A few mistakes in the writing here and there but enough to get over. Ie Colt instead of Cole.

But I will def be checking out Nicole's other work.

11/3/18 I thought a re-read would make me enjoy it more, but the only thing it did is piss me off more...too bad because the storyline isn't so bad...just certain characters that ruined the story for me :(

 photo SpoilerAlert_zpsitia5vcg.gif

Just to make myself really clear...this review contains major spoilers. If you don't want to know, don't read it !!!!!!!!!

So about the book...I actually liked it, although parts of it really pissed me off!

Cole is a vice president for the Evil Dead MC. When visiting a friendly chapter MC, he comes face to face with Angel. Angel is cuffed, bruised and being dragged by an asshole MC brother from this other club. Cole may have a blackened heart, but it's not that black and he can't just walk away from this situation....from her. So he rescues her and they leave the club together. Angel has been beaten and raped, but he can't let her go, because her dad is a cop and can't risk her running to her dad and therefore fucking the club. So, he takes Angel home to his club. He feels really drawn to her and the feeling is quite mutual. He vows to avenge her if she keeps her mouth shut to daddy.

The first issue I had with this story was the fact that they jump into the sack within 24 hours. I am not a huge fan of insta-love and this book reeked of it, but that was not one of my issues. The problem was Angel giving up her body to Cole, within 24 hours of her rape.....I just didn't buy it. I can't believe a girl who just got beaten and raped, would act like that. Which leads me to my next issue. The condoms ...there was not one fucking condom in sight !! Lady...you just got raped ....and now you're fucking a biker dude without a condom ???? He asked her if she was on birth control and when she said no...he said he would just take care of it and pull out !!!!! Really pissed me off!

 photo 2922ef56e32bd89bca952003843b0f68810867efc211997906a44a01f85a48ce_zps9jlhawea.jpg

They spend a few days together, getting hot and heavy and falling more and more in love. Meanwhile, Cole makes good on his promises for revenge. The club president Mack is not a big fan of Angel and how close she and Cole are, so he fucks thing up for them. I hated that guy !! The worst of it all was, that he didn't even have to pay for his douchebaggery. I wanted him to pay for what he did, but it is mentioned only once and he doesn't even apologize to her in the end...asshole.

 photo 52373340_zpskssepbac.jpg

After Macks fucks things up, Angel leaves. Cole is upset but he doesn't have her last name and knows nothing about her, so he'll just have to accept that things between them are over.

Fast forward 3 years and Angel is in desperate need of Cole's help. She will have to go and pay him a visit. Cole is shocked when he sees her at the club. Shocked because she is there looking really good and shocked because of the intense feelings he still has for her. He decides to help her and travels to the house where Angel has been living with her aunt for the last 3 years. Again....within 24 hours they have sex...this woman is really an idiot. She has been on her own after he left her and the past three years have not been easy for her. Still, within a minute he is forgiven and she's on her back again. No condoms in sight this time either !!

Then we get to the part where she finds out he's married. Now the cheating....I had no issue with. I knew about it going in, so I was prepared for this to happen. Of course, I thought Cole was a dick. He should have told her before they had sex. I didn't feel sorry for his wife though, because she annoyed me and she was also a lying bitch. Still....since I'm already spoiling the hell out of this review, I figured some people may want to know that the hero is a cheat.

 photo cheater_zpsjmofbaho.jpg

When Angel finds out about his marriage, she finally grows a backbone and tosses him out !! He goes home to file for divorce because ever since he saw Angel again at the club, he's wanted out of his marriage. Angel holds onto her anger however and Angel's aunt Natalie travels all the way to Cole, to see if she can help him out. First, she wants to know where he lives and see the club. She wants to make sure that her niece ends up somewhere safe and, since she will accompany Angel, she wants to know where she will end up. Guess who she fucks while she's visiting....Mack !! I just couldn't believe that shit. She gave it up to him within 12 hours after meeting him, knowing he was the reason Cole and Angel were apart for three years !! Sure, reward the asshole why don't ya. Well, at least we got to know where her loyalties lie. Who needs enemies, when you have family like that ??!! I think out of all the issues I had, Mack and his douchebaggery pissed me off the most and for her to jump into bed with him.....I just couldn't believe it !! Then, after doing this, she also forces a decision on Angel. I liked Angel's aunt Nathalie in the beginning....after all shit....I hated her guts !!

 photo a32cfed37c3846c553615cc60d159ef9_zpsr8tr7oyb.jpg

And Mack...he was just an old and pathetic little douchebag as far as I am concerned.

Funny thing is...even with all the issues I had, I still enjoyed reading this book. I mean Deuce pissed the hell out of me and I love Madeleine Sheehan's books. I'm gonna check out some more books in this series, hopefully, they have some better MC's.

A bit of a bumpy ride...

I have become obsessed with biker books. Has this reader ever even ridden on a motorcycle? Nope. Are there bikers hanging around in my area? Nope. But boy do I love a hot biker! I can rattle off several biker books which I absolutely loved. Check my read list if you’re interested to see which were my favorite rides.

Some parts of this story were bumpy, like the author switching lanes fifty percent through the book. Also, there were a couple of potholes in the road for me like, the windfall of money, the evil wife and a later attack.

Parts of the ride that were smooth was the first half of the story. Then there’s Melissa’s Ride, the tattoo and that epilogue...it was fantastic. I mean it, I was swooning and was all dreamy eyed reading it.

Character wise, I have to say that Cole was a bit soft for me. I’m used to a little more gruff from my biker old men but I did like him. Angel, Natalie and the boys in the club were a likable bunch.

I would definitely get back on if Nicole James decided to offer me another ride!

I gave this book three stars because the plot was great. The characters were at times also great but I just had way too many issues.

Please be warned this isn't a review it's me ranting and there are a lot of spoilers!

Well I am so glad i decided to read this book. It had mixed reviews so I almost didn't read it. Boy am I happy I did. I am a sucker for a man in a biker club. Those types of books just grab hold of me and don't let go. This book was no different. It was such an excellent read. I loved it. The story line was awesome and the characters were very likable. I am glad I decided to read it. A must read.

Angel

AHH, this book had me hooked from the very begining. It starts with Cole visiting with Wyatt about what appeared to me as "Biker Politics". One club is going to patch over the other brother club. Cole and Wyatt look up to see Chuck dragging a girl behind him handcuffed. Something clicks in Cole when he sees her and he's determined to help her. Angel is terrified. She's been kidnapped, sold, beat, raped, and the next thing she knows is she's being traded to Cole over an unpaid debt. She struggles to trust Cole, but eventually realizes he actually is helping her. They strike up a deal, he gets revenge on her abductors for her and she won't tell anyone what happened to her. But as time goes on they both realize they have feelings for each other. Both decide they want to see if they can make it work but a huge betrayal/misunderstanding separates them leaving them both thinking the other left. Years go by until they see each other again, but when they do that same pull is still there between them, the problem is they both are different people now with different lives.

"Nine days. That's how long it took for you to get your hooks in me, babe. And they were in deep. So deep I couldn't get free if I tried. And I tried. I did try. You were mine, Angel. But I was yours, too."

I loved the first half of this book, loved loved loved it. The second half I really liked just not as much as the first half. Don't get me wrong, Cole drops everything for Angel when she needs him most and I loved him for it, I just missed the excitement and danger the first part of the book had. I guess since I'm talking about negative things I also felt like a few ties weren't completely tied. Nothing huge, just whatever happened to the other club, did they end up getting re-patched and my major thing that got skipped over was some sort of confrontation with MACK!!! He completely betrayed Cole and Angel and neither one of them ever said anything to him about it. It was mentioned between him and Natalie but I sorta thought with the way Cole was in the first half of the book with Angel, once he found out what had happened with Mack he at least would have hadi a conversation about it. I mean because of Mack's betrayal Mack got off wayy to easy on this and it sorta ticked me off.

"Some news, a man gets from his woman, it's a moment in life. We havin' a moment?"

I definitely recommend this book. I had seen mixed reviews on it, some even DNF which left me a little nervous, but I really liked it. Cole and Angel were so good together. I loved how protective he was for her and just how much he was willing to do for her. I hated the three years apart thing, I was shocked when I got to that chapter and it said three years later. haha, I messaged my fellow buddy readers with a WTF message, lol. I've seen where there is a possibility for more from this biker club and I would love for Crash and Kilt boy to get their own story. :)

5 'I came for the dirty talking and ended up losing my heart' Stars

I can't believe this book is 518 pages long. I read it fairly quickly! It just flowed flawlessly. Of course, I read the reviews before deciding to give it a whirl. The most popular review for this book is a negative one, and I read other angry reviews too. To say this book sounded rough around the edges would be an understatement. Obviously, I had concerns. But sometimes I can't help being curious about books that cause folks to get their panties in a twist. I'm also attracted to angsty romance and dirty bad boys. This book seemed to have it all and so here we are. Maybe reading the negative reviews prepared me for it but I didn't find anything in 'Outlaw' to gripe about. It's MC Romance, ladies! Can't expect unicorns and rainbows sprinkled with glitter. I do agree that some situations at the beginning were (perhaps) unrealistic, but I really didn't care. I was sucked right in and just went with it--easily.

COLE AUSTIN. Boy, did he reel me in. That dirty talking bastard. The fool never thought he'd be capable of giving his heart away...until he did. To our heroine. Angel had him eating out of her hand. 9 days is all it took for these two to leave a mark in each other's hearts. Their time together might have been short but it was passionate and all-consuming. It was blazing-hot. After 3 years of separation, the moment they meet again, the feelings come back--full force. No, Cole wasn't perfect but he made me fall completely in love with him anyway. And by the end of the book, I was convinced he was PERFECT and deserving of Angel's love. It was undeniable. But the epilogue was the icing on the cake. It was my kind of unicorns and rainbows. I knew then I had to give this 5 Stars--sprinkled with glitter.

Warning:
Major angsty plot twist. Have some wine; it'll be okay.

It has been a while for me to pick up MC romance. I usually like my MC romance to be grity and dark. Outlaw is somewhat fall in the middle. Not dark and grity but not sweet and mild either.

The story picked up at promising start. Then as the story progresed, I feel the plot and the chemistry turned to cold. I feel cold and indifference toward Angel and Cole. Angel is typical weak and doormat heroine. While Cole is confusing.

The plot only held my interest in about 30% of the book. Btw, this is a very long book.

Review from when I read this book in 2013.

Surprisingly Romantic
I liked this book a lot but it was different to what I expected. This is the story of Cole, a gorgeous biker who is in The Evil Dead MC, and the beautiful, young girl , Angel , who he rescues from a life threatening situation. At the start I thought it was going to be your typical badass biker book. And it was. Then the whole tone changed and seemed to be more about the two of them and where their lives took them. It was not all gritty and raw as some biker books are. If you are a fan of 'Seize Me' or 'Undeniable' then this may not tick all the boxes for you as it is more about romance. If , like me, you loved 'Craving Constellations' then it might be more your thing. It surprised me in a good way this book. Was heart wrenching in places and passionately beautiful in others. I would say this is more a romance with a biker / MC theme running through it than a full on biker book. Enjoy.

THE BLURB FROM THE BOOK:

"When outlaw biker, Cole Austin sees a young woman handcuffed and being dragged across the yard of the Dead Souls Motorcycle Club's remote clubhouse, he's stunned by the realization of just how dark his world has become. This scene is even more than his twisted soul can stomach. Compelled to intercede and save her, he has no idea his whole world is about to change. He believes he's doing the right thing until a secret she's hiding makes him question if saving her may be the biggest mistake of his life. The two strike a deal, a deal they may both come to regret. Can his soul be saved? Is there anything he won't do for her? Are there some things he just can't? And are there some things she can never forgive?"

I wanted to like this. Since I read Motorcyle Man, I really would like to find some books as good as Mororcycle Man,I know that hasn't happened.

STUFF I DON'T LIKE:

On some friend's review, she counted all he Babes, Baby Doll, Baby used in this book.I'm telling you, It's far too many.

This was written in third person. That doesn't bother me but there were several times I couldn't
tell who was speaking.

MCs
Melissa------------ not much I can come up. She just had no personality. I have no idea what there was about her that made her THE ONE. There just wasn't believable chemistry between these two get's your panties wet. So, he's a

Cole - his character was more developed. That being said, he didn't even come close to being a believable biker. The author try to SAY he was dangerous but nothing really sticks out in his personality or thought that actually showed me his was different. One small job that you were TOLD he did didn't tell me how he felt about doing it, no regret was mentioned but nothing dangerous showed in his thoughts and personality either.

So, to sum up the two main characters, one was almost invisible and the other needs a teddy bear and pacifier.

THE PLOT
This was the only saving grace, IMHO it's really too bad that the author missed her mark.

SEX, PASSION

There were four or five in here. They were far too short. Cole must have Irectal Disfunction. To me, a love scene needs to last as long as if I were the lucky gal that got to make love to him.

Just didn't feel this one. Sorry.

I found this on a list (can’t say which one or I’ll spoil a twist) it follows Angel and Cole and their bumpy ride to HEA. The plot is balanced, the first half of the book takes us through the couple meeting/getting together and separation, then at 50% we FFW 3 years to the reconnection.

Bottom Line- Pretty good/OK surface-y read just don’t dig deep… or become inquisitive cuz chances are it won’t be explored. There’s some drama-llama that had a soapy feel with a bit of OW drama and unbelievable shenanigans. I felt certain parts took a just go with it attitude ( ) and other elements felt a smidge lazy (). My biggest grump though was Mack who orchestrated the breakup and took zero heat or responsibility. How did no one call him out on this?

I bought this book way back in 2013 for $3.99 (yup I looked it up on amazon.com) and never read it. Now that I've read Jameson and loved it, I decided to FINALLY give this a try. I'm not sure why I didn't want to read it. Maybe because I knew our heroine was raped in the beginning, but reading the book it wasn't detailed since it happened before the book started. I am kicking myself for not reading this book years ago.

From the get-go it was really action-packed. There was so much happening that I thought I was towards the end of the story when I realized that I was only at 30%. Don't get me wrong it really didn't feel like it was dragging, but just the opposite. There was so much that happened between Cole and Angel. This book was darker than I usually read, but I did enjoy it very much kinda like a rollercoaster ride where I'm not sure what's going to happen next!

I had a few issues with this book but they are all spoilers, so be warned.

First off, Angel is kidnapped, raped and physically assaulted. These problems were only mildly addressed. Angel had some minor issues caused from this but very unrealistically she slept with Cole within a few days of him rescuing her from her captor and he was no knight in shining armor. He threatened to kill her if she said anything about her capture.

Second, I was confused why Angel wouldn't contact Cole earlier about his children. She should have given him the chance to say he wanted contact with them, no matter what she thought his attitude would be about it.

Third, I had trouble believing Cole cared about Angel as much as he said he did when he moved on to someone else quickly enough to marry her two years after Angel left. Marriage is a serious commitment and he admitted he thought he loved her enough to marry her, even if he said it was because he didn't think he'd see Angel again. The contrast to Angel not sleeping with anyone else was striking.

Finally, he cheated. I didn't like his wife much and I got why he wanted to be with Angel when he saw her again, but it was still disrespectful and I hate cheaters. At least he had already gotten in contact with a lawyer.

I knew some of these issues would be in the story due to a review I read, but I was hoping the romance would compensate. It didn't. The romance was a little dull to be honest. Not what I was expecting with an angst filled storyline.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I was going to give this book 3.5 stars when I was at the halfway mark, but then I got to the end and the epilogue.
That's where it changed to 4 stars.
Outlaw is an entertaining read but it definitely lacks the darkness and grit that Undeniable had.
It definitely was not as steamy as Reapers Property.
It felt like more of a "hearts & flowers" version of a biker gang story.
But I did love Cole!! He reminded me of Jax from SOA, down to the way he's physically described.
The author spent a little too much time describing their surroundings and that irked me a bit but I liked how she pulled it all together in the end.
I'm a sucker for an HEA, and this book had it!
So I'm giving this one 4 stars!! :)

Decent read but frustrating

Good read, but darn did the characters just bug the heck out of me. Cole did complete flip flops and drove me insane. I care about you...wait no it's just sex...no I really care about you....no it meant nothing. Then Angel she would be so strong no then just disintegrate before your eyes. She put up with a great deal of crap from Cole and kept forgiving.

Ok then I had issues with Mack. He lied and no one called him on it and he seemed to survive scot free. Even Natalie didn't really give him crap about what he did.

Now you think I didn't like anything, but not true. Good solid story. Storyline was interesting. Will read the next.

Nicole James takes over MC Romance showing off her talent with the guys from the Evil Dead in Outlaw. A brilliantly crafted page turner that will have you on the edge of your seat each time you read it. 8 years of rereads, I find myself still captivated with Cole and the guys from the Evil Dead MC as though it is the first time I stepped through the clubhouse.

Warning! May contain spoilers and hard language.Read at your very own risk.

The book was ok overall but didn't reach my expectations.I'm gonna explain what I didn't liked. Let the bitching begin .

- What the hell is with these girls getting beaten and raped but in less than 24 hours they are back on riding a stranger's co..aahem??Beying captive and tortured for a couple of days then feeling sexual attraction for another dangerous stranger it is just too unrealistic for me . Sorry, I just can't wrap my head around it.

- Angel's aunt...just don't get me started there...couse yeah , she was there to see with her own eyes what kind of life can Cole offer to Angel...but while I'm at the clubhose why not behave all slutty and stuff??

- Speaking of MC clubhouse , as if MC members are that friendly that they welcome outsiders in their clubhouse. The clubhouse is some sort of freakhouse open for visits.

- I wanted to see more action into the club.It was just too quiet. The president gave orders to the vice-president while the actual members of the club were here and there sitting and drinking. There was no brotherhood and too much backstabbing.

- I couldn't connect with the characters and none of them got my attention, not even Cole.He was just too distant. We don't know anything about his past or what the hell did he do in the last 3 years , we only know that he is "not the man he used to be".

- There was too much drama and too much fuss.

This might be a spoiler, but I wish I would have known, because I might not have spent the money to buy this book. It started out pretty good. I cared a little about the characters. Cole wasn't really a strong alpha character, but I liked him alright. He had some issues, but he was a good guy down deep. But then......there was cheating. He was a cheater, and I HATE that. Absolutely. Hate. It. I almost didn't finish the book, but I sat it down a couple of days, then forced my self to finish it. Granted, it wasn't the heroine that he cheated on, but the situation made me feel like he had cheated on Angel, AND the other chick. Which made him a double cheater, and a loser. He did redeem himself somewhat, but since he was just "OK" to start with, I couldn't seem to care much after that. Wish I would have liked it more, and am disappointed that I didn't. If cheating doesn't bother you, you might like this one because if the cheating aspect hadn't been in there, I would have probably given it 3.5 to 4 stars.

The first book in Nicole James' The Outlaw series. Cole Austin is visiting another Motorcycle Club when one of their members drags a woman out. He is angry about how the woman is treated and finds a way to get the woman from the man. Angel was kidnapped and sold after attending a party. She fights with Cole at first until she realizes he isn't going to hurt her.

I have mixed feelings on this one. The story itself is told in a easy manner that I liked. What I had problems with was that I never felt the couple and the relationship was all that believable. It lack something. There were also certain elements that I didn't care for. Still, I think I would recommend it with reservation.
