★★★★! His To Possess (part 1-6). Small-town girl moves to big city & finds herself in triangle with commanding CEO & bad-boy rocker!

“I’d like to show you that giving up control to someone else can be both stimulating…”
“…and pleasurable.”

Thanks to my fellow buddy-readers! I had a blast on our thread (LINK!). Thanks also to my SSS, Allison!

His To Possess (Part 1-6) is a story that should just be dived into. The less you know the better!

Story opens up with an unemployed Jessica Long, Jess having left California to attend a job fair in Philadelphia in hopes of securing a job and relocating. She encounters sexy and commanding business man Dane Ranier at a coffee shop and when she is caught in rain storm he offers her a ride in his limo.

Their paths will cross again offering some off-the-charts sex scenes, but things quickly gets complicated! Then there is the unresolved issue of a unexpected break-up with her bad-boy musician ex-boyfriend, Storm. Buckle your seatbelt for some additional (predicable) twists and outright shockers as this story turns both complicated and kinky with a triangle and beyond…

Jessica Long, Jess: ~20 years years/unemployed > personal assistant/black hair/green eyes/~5’5”.

I never quite connected with Jessica Long, Jess, but both heroes did. Six words to describe Jessica: Attractive, meek, indecisive, immature, smart and pliable.

Dane Ranier: ~30 years/CEO Ranier Industries/heir/$$$$/dark brown hair/blue eyes/Dom.

Six words to describe Dane Ranier: Commanding, charismatic, strong, caring, memorable and assertive.

Storm: ~28 years/guitarist in rock band/dark brown hair/blue eyes/biker/tattoos.

Six words to describe Storm: Charming, conflicted, free-spirit, broken, caring and indecisive.

Though I wasn’t entirely thrilled with some of the shocking twists and turns, His To Posses ended on a high note. It left Jessica with a man to love. But it was angsty for me… keeping me worried, at the edge of my seat, up until the very end. Warning! This story contains MFM sex scenes!

Scorching sex scenes! Swoon-worthy heroes and an unusual plot! If you like kink and you enjoy the potential for a triangle and more this story is perfect!

“Her gaze dropped to his big dangling cock, even though she tried to stop it.”

4.5 Pleasantly Surprised Stars!

I love picking a book up with zero expectations, no reviews from friends to bounce opinions off of, and end up DEVOURING it. This book did just that! In a genre that's saturated with the billionaire alpha millionaire meets a down-on her-luck heroine, this storyline shakes it up a bit...or a lot.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The book revolves around Jessica who accidentally runs into sexy CEO Dane Ranier on the streets of Philadelphia. She's on her way to a job fair in the pouring rain and mistook Dane for someone she knew in her past. They struck up a conversation, he gives her a ride in his limo to the event...blah blah....sparks fly, bumping uglies occur and she walks out the next morning. Little did she know after said career fair, the job she interviews for and takes is as his PA. Coincidence? Hell no. But now their relationship must remain professional...right? It was fun watching these two who had SCORCHING sex a few weeks back turn into platonic business colleagues. Can they do it long term? She has no interest in a relationship anyways. Her rock star tattooed ex Storm left her high and dry. She's banning love! But that night with a stranger that now is her boss is on continuous repeat in her head...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Here's where my review gets difficult. That's all I'm giving you of the storyline. There's HUGE "I didn't see that coming" moments in this book and the rest of it involves that twist. It does mention in the blurb that this is a LOVE TRIANGLE. The mother of all love triangles actually. Hot tattooed rocker or alpha hot Dom businessman? Consider yourself warned. It also has MFM action...that is FUCKHOT...sorry to digress.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I swear, Dane is the perfect balance of alpha Dominant. You just want to crouch down on your knees and respond "Yes, Sir" to anything he asks. He draws something out of Jess that she never encountered sexually with a man.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The book is written well, paced well, although my deduction of a half star is I felt the ending was just a bit confusing and rushed. Anyways, if you're looking for a book with a healthy dose of steam, very mild BDSM, lots of twists and turns, then this book is for you. I see it came out previously as six tiny novellas. This book is all those novellas combined into one stand alone book. Although I'd love to see Melanie have a book with a certain other character.

Bravo! I enjoyed this one! Request it on NetGalley! It's worth it.

I must confess that this book is not one of my favorites. It was good and all but the last 15% chewed me up and spit me out. It changed my whole perspective of the book. I have never read a book that affected me so negatively.

There is Jessica...

There is Storm...

And there is Dane...

I guess you can see there is a triangle involved. I'm good with triangles, they are angsty and messy and it can make for a great read. Like I said, it started out that way and then ended on a sour note for me.

Jessica and Storm share a past, a love, but he left her and she may never be the same. Jessica meets Dane, a Dom and well she starts to forget Storm. She doesn't want a relationship, she just wants sex and Dane is all to happy to comply.

Storm reappears when he decides that leaving Jessica was the worst mistake of his life. He wants her back. Jessica starts to have feeling for Dane and Dane does too but won't allow himself to go there. Here comes the angst and there is plenty of it. I'm not a fan of bed hoping in a single day but I went with it. I will say that there is MFM and that was okay-ish even though it was borderline for me. But then it got real dicey and the ending was just....

His to Possess is broken down into 6 parts: The Seduction, The Morning After, A Perfect Storm, True Lies, Entangled, and Forever.

Overall verdict: Very fast-paced, easy to read, HOT steamy sex scenes, predictable plot twists but book was still enjoyable. A great escape from reality for a few hours. The last 15% killed it for me though.

The Seduction:

description

As the first installment meant to introduce the characters and plot, The Seduction was pretty spot on. I was intrigued, teased, and hooked. And maybe a tidbit jealous of Jessica. There were some parts I thought were unrealistic and downright creepy if it all happened in real life, but hey, this is the beauty of reading books! This part ends with a nice twist I saw coming, but made for a good wrap up and foray into part 2.

The Morning After:

description

Picking up right after the end of part 1, The Morning After kept up the pace and was delightfully addicting, maybe even more than part 1. I enjoy reading about hot, kinky sex, but more than that, I love a good story plot too. There was some unexpected plot and character development in this novella, which I really appreciated. Ends with an anticipatory feel.

A Perfect Storm:

description

Dane and Jessica continue with their “no strings attached” relationship, and we get more character background in here. Everything’s still hot and steamy, until the ending serves up a twist with Storm’s arrival. *dun dun dun*

True Lies:

The beginning of the end, at least for me.

Entangled:

description

Forever:

Fifty Shades of messed up. This last part destroyed the goodness from the first 3 and not even the hot sex scenes and semi-plausible plot could cover it.

I was prepared to give this entire collection of novellas a 4 star rating, but the last 15% just seriously didn’t do it for me. Hence the 3 stars.

DNF [half way into part 4] so no rating at this time. I felt the story had so much potential to be great but it was very predictable, felt like it was going nowhere and lost me at just over half way mark. I want to say "it's not the book but me/crappy timing", however, in this case I am not even sure I am interested enough to finish this at a later date. Having said that, I will check out more work by this author in the future because I didn't mind the writing at all.

4--Interesting, Different and Maybe Even a Little Weird--Stars!!!

His to Possess is a series of 6 novellas--each to be released within a few weeks of each other. This particular book is all six combined in to one book and will be released after the final novella. Or you can get it on NetGalley like I did!

The Seduction:

Jessica is in Philadelphia for a job fair. The morning of the job fair she see's a man on the street that looks very similar to her ex-boyfriend Storm. Jessica confronts the man only to find out that's in fact NOT Storm.

Meet Dane Ranier. Dane ends up giving Jessica a lift to the job fair and later finds her for dinner and they end up spending the night together.

The following morning Jessica sneaks out thinking she'll never see Dane again.

The Morning After:

Jessica lands a job. And guess who her knew boss is? No really....guess?

Now that Dane is Jessica's new boss things have to stay platonic. Want to know how long that lasts? Not very!

But things are about to be shaken up in Dane and Jessica land! Jessica gets a call from her mom....Storm's BACK and is looking for Jessica! Seems he made a mistake leaving her to go on tour.

The Perfect Storm:

Dane and Jessica's sex-only "relationship" continues. It's full of really hot office trysts. And that under the desk blow-job....

It's all fun and games until Storm shows up. And now we have a love triangle.

The twist....yep, I called it.

True Lies:

Dane and Jessica go on a business trip. Dane pushes Jessica away...only for her to land in the arms of Storm. And so begins the back and forth between Storm and Dane.

Storm. Dane. Storm. Dane. Storm. Dane. Storm. Dane. Storm.

Storm . Whoa dude.....

Entangled:

Jessica gives Storm a big

So Dane suggests a threesome, which just happens to be one of Jessica's fantasies. This is where things turned a little WTF for me. But I'm not going to lie....that threesome was pretty damn HOT.

Jessica still isn't sure who she wants to be with. She loves the dominance in the bedroom with Dane, something she didn't experience with Storm.

Forever:

Turns out the choice will be made for Jessica. Will Jessica end up with Dane? Storm? Or perhaps both Dane and Storm?

Overall this was a pretty good read. I pretty much read it in one sitting. It was engaging. It was hot. It was different. It was well written. Definitely preferred reading it as one book vs. individual novellas.

3 - Only For The First 4 Parts Stars!

I am going to break down my review for His To Possess into its respective parts, mainly because I really liked a lot of it, and then the author took me somewhere I wasn’t prepared for, and if I am honest I would never have requested the book if I knew it was in the story.

The Seduction – The first part of this pulled me in thoroughly, the mistaken meeting in the coffee shop between Jessica and Dane while she is in Philly at a job fair, and what followed after left me intrigued and looking forward to book 2.

The Morning After – As you would expect this follows straight on from the first part and my interest is building nicely. Jessica has managed to get herself a job as a PA with Guess Who!! I liked that there was lots more imaginative, kinky sex and the story develops at a good “keep you interested” pace too, especially as a ghost from Jessica’s past has the potential to reappear in her life.

A Perfect Storm – Lots more “non-committal” sex here, there and in the office, between Jessica and Dane, although and the story and character development keeps flowing nicely. We also have another twist in the tale in the form of Jessica’s past, right at the end that kept me reading straight onto the next part.

True Lies – Still enjoying it, the too-ing and fro-ing from Jessica between Dane and Storm is starting to get a little annoying, as is the bed-hopping (this is a bit of a turn off for me), but I was willing to keep with the story, and see where it went and ultimately who she chooses, the guy from her past, or the guy in her present.

Entangled & Forever –

Oh Hell No. I am not a prude, very far from it, but this is where I stopped. There are plenty of reviews offering the reason I didn’t go any further, and I will leave it to you to decide if you want to go and find out why I stopped reading at this point.

As such I am basing my 3 star rating on the first 4 parts of the book, those I read and was enjoying, I would happily read more from this author, I would have just liked a little warning as to where this story was going...

★★★ 3.5 stars.

Loved it right until the last 15%. Those last two novella's made it go from a 4 star to a 3 star read for me. Overall, I quite enjoyed reading this collection of novella's in book-form though, the constant cliffhangers made me want to keep reading until I knew how Jessica's turbulent and passionate story ended.

Review to come.

This was a decent quick read yet weird at the same time. There is a which was not really weird but the way it happened was a little odd. I do feel like some of the book was a little rushed and it was wrapped up a little too easily in the end. But I overall enjoyed this book and the sex scenes were pretty hot.

I will say I could have done without the penis descriptions:

"The shaft was long and covered with thick veins. It swelled to a large mushroom shaped tip."

"she continued to suck his bulbous tip"

"and drew his plum-size head into her mouth"

Personally not my cup of tea. I requested this title because the description sounded like something I would like, but by the time I got to the last couple sections I felt like I was reading something I didn't sign up for. That being said, I know there are patrons out there who read these types of books, but personally

I didn't find the writing to be bad, in fact I liked the way things were handled with not too much emphasis on certain things that would have dragged the main story down and the different points of view we received. In most serials I find that first person point of view gets tedious and I'm always wondering what the other person in the relationship is thinking. In this aspect, the author handled it very well and each person was distinguishable from the next. The scenes between Jess and Dane were very well written and extremely sizzling.

I will possibly read more by this author if I know what I'm getting. Like I said, her writing style was fine, just the situations that occurred were not for me.

4 Very smexy stars

His to Possess was the complete book made up of 6 novellas/parts. The first 2 novellas have already been released and future segments will be released over time. The entire book, which I read, will actually come out in March.

Carew does a great job drawing you in to Jessica's life. After being dumped by Storm, the tattoed guy in a band, she finds herself trying to start over in Philadelphia. She just lost her job, her guy and soon will not have a place to live. But just as luck would have she comes across her very own Knight in shining armor. Dane, who she meets due to mistaking him for Storm, helps Jessica with her problems and even helps her discover her wild side after a one night stand. Fast forward and after Jessica meets a new friend, Melanie, she lands a great job, and you will never guess who her new boss is.

Well despite some office/relationship concerns, Dane and Jessica continue to have a rather heated relationship. Some of the scenes are downright scorching.

Just when things are getting good for them a very big twist as Storm returns.

Obviously Jessica is confused and let me say, things do seem to move just a little fast. If you are one who has issues with love triangles, then this book is not for you. Things get really crazy around the 5th section. Carew does an amazing job with the visual she creates, totally off the charts hot...but still I was shocked.

The book finishes up somewhat quickly and I guess you get a happily ever after. But I can't believe what takes place after what should be the HEA. Literally floored me.

Overall, good quick steamy read. Personally I am not a fan of the serial novellas so I would just hold off til the whole book comes out.

Jessica is out job searching when she runs into a man who looks a lot like her ex-boyfriend. After a slightly embarrassing encounter, they happen to stumble into each other's path yet again when the man, Dane, offers to drive Jessica to her destination in his limo. They find themselves attracted to each other and end up sharing Jessica's hotel room for the night.

Jessica scores a job and is shocked to find that Dane is her boss. As they work to balance their physical relationship with their boss/employee relationship, things only become more complicated. When Jessica's ex-boyfriend unexpectedly shows up, she might end up losing both of them.

So this is essentially a six-part series that was combined into one book. The book is divided up into these six parts, almost like chapters, with cliff-hanger endings and all.

There were some things that I really liked, and some that I didn't.

I liked Dane, and I liked Storm (the ex-boyfriend). They were both interesting characters with fleshed out backgrounds, very distinct, unique personalities and truly seemed reminiscent of a real person you could find walking down the street right now. Ideally, most characters should be this way, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. I'll come back to this issue later.

I also liked the pacing of the plot. Little twists and turns were placed at perfect intervals, with the cliff-hangers keeping me reading until my eyes hurt.

The sexy scenes were generally quite, well, sexy, as expected. It was obvious that the characters had some sort of chemistry in both their physical and romantic relationships with each other.

Now to the things I didn't like.

Jessica. Yep, I didn't like Jessica. Why? She seemed boring. I didn't get to know her as a person. She seemed like a blank slate almost. She didn't seem to have any quirks, beliefs, etc that distinguished her from any other random person. She was bland.

I really think the author needs to work on her usage of adjectives and adverbs. She used some words and descriptors waaaaaayyyyy too much. I swear I read the word "masculine" in this book more times than I've read it in six full-length novels combined. She also kept referring to these men being like "super male" or something.... like not in those exact words, but everything was like "his musky maleness" or whatever. It's like, we get it, they are men, they happen to also be quite masculine men. Move on already! It got to the point where I was rolling my eyes a lot.

Anyways, it wasn't the best book ever, but not the worst by any means. Will I read the sequel? Probably not. Do I regret reading this? Nope.

If you're a fan of erotic fiction, you might want to try this. However, if the issues that I had with the book would bug you, I don't recommend it at all.

I went into this book, without any special expectation and I was pleasantly surprised. His to Possess is a quick read with high steam factor.

Jessica has left her hometown to attend a job fair in Philadelphia. Here she spots tall and dark stranger that reminds her so much of her ex who broke her heart. She decides to throw all caution out of the window and invites the sexy stranger, Dane, back to her room for the night. Jessica believes this is it, but this one night stand definitely do not end after just one night.

My list of ♥ and ☹’s for His to Possess:
High steam factor: The level of steam was definitely one of my favorite parts of this book and there were a lot of them. Opal Carew delivers varied scenes, but all of them with a common denominator; HOT.

Intriguing bi-characters: I really enjoyed Melaine and the little snipptes we got of her in this story. It made me very curious about her and what will happen to her. II would love to read a book about her and her way to her own HEA.

Predictable: If you have read books in this genre before, I do believe many of you will see what’s coming pretty early on. At least I did, and this is reflected in my opinions of this book. While reading I found myself waiting for the moments I predicted would happen and they, more than not, actually happened.

Indecisive heroine: My issue with this book was Jessica. I wanted to throttle her in large parts of the book. It’s hard to go into this without giving parts of the plot I don’t want to reveal. Anyways, Jessica’s indecisiveness bothered me a lot and her hot and cold behavior in general. Some of her decisions and actions were selfish and so mean to those around her in my eyes. These moments made it difficult to connect with her and thus like this book as much as I wanted to.

I did enjoy this book, but there was some moments that made it hard for me to fall in love with it. I do recommend it though for everyone who wants a quick and steamy read.

2.5 I-SHOULD-HAVE-KNOWN-BETTER STARS

Some people like threesome and I'm okay with it but threesome is totally not for me...

I'm sorry but the whole love triangle and threesome thing just make Jessica sound like an indecisive b*tch that seems to think she's the only one around who has feelings. You know what, those guys you're messing up with have feelings too!

But oh wait... Looks like Dane and Rafe don't mind their feelings get all played by Jessica!

Please, keep calling that feeling of yours love (I'm talking to three of them)

I tried to read Opal Carew's book once, I should have known better. This is totally gonna be my last time seeing her work.

Ughhh. There were so many problems with this book. It felt misleading to have the characters be together only for them to split up. It also was confusing to not know anything about Storm and then suddenly feel the need to root for him but that's what it felt like the author was trying to do. Not a good read.

This book was such a disappointment to me. I had such high hopes that this book was going to keep me entertained and interested to read the other installments. This book had me at the beginning. The story is of Jessica who had moved to another city to explore bigger options after being heartbroken over the separation of her and her ex-boyfriend Storm. After just a few months of living together Storm decides it is best to leave since he is a self-proclaimed drifter and it is time to leave and not stay in one place for too long. While in the city Jessica spots a guy that has a resemblance to Storm. She approaches the man to find out its not him. Instead she meets Dane, the owner of Ranier Industries. They share coffee with each other at some shop and she tells of how she is attending job fairs. Dane gives Jessica great advice on how to separate herself from all the other applicants. He ends up giving her a ride to the fair due to weather conditions. She thanked him and didn't even get his name.

I loved Dane from the beginning. He is such a strong man. He can hold his own and distinguish himself, even after being mistaken for someone else. He is also a man who knows what he wants and will invest the time to get it no matter what measures he has to take.

Dane liked Jessica do much that he found her and they had dinner together. They hit and off and ends up sleeping together. Afterwards he couldn't get her out his mind. He knew she was going to job fairs so he sent his secretary to find her and make sure she puts her application in at his company. Jessica gets a callback and has 2 interviews and she gets hired. She meets her boss and sees that it's Dane.

So far this is the good part of the book. Jessica and Dane like each other and now she is his personal assistant. He wants to sleep with her again but he lets her make the decision on whether it happens again. They get to taking about the past. She talks of her ex Storm and he talks of his brother Rafe, who is co-owner of the business. Rafe took a sabbatical from the business. Jessica decides that she just wants a physical relationship with Dane since she just got out of a relationship.

The book kept me at the part when Rafe returns. He walks into Dane's office and sees Jessica. He knows Jessica. Jessica knows him. She knows him as someone else though. Rafe is Storm!!! My mouth was open for about a minute with this revelation. I had to read some paragraphs over again just to make sure I read what I read.

After this, the book goes downhill for me. Both brothers are in love with her. Rafe even asks her to marry him. She says no. She can't make up her mind on who she wants. She sleeps with both brothers. Then when they fight over her she has the nerve to get indignant. She has no right to get like that when she is a whore and sleeping with 2 brothers. She continues to sleep with both of them even after that. The brothers decide to have a threesome. I don't know what 2 brothers would sleep with a girl at the same time. It was weird. It wasn't believable to me. Jessica believes this is her dream come true, but she still can't choose. She sees that the relationship is taking a toll on the brothers because they don't want to share her. At one point they both break up with her (that was funny). Dane broke up with her because he sees that Jessica and Rafe love each other and she could be the girl to make his life complete. Rafe breaks up with her because she likes to be dominated and he can't be a dominant to her.

By this time in the story I was already done. But what threw me off completely was when Rafe told Jessica that he didn't live her at all. He just needed love and she was the person that was giving it to him so he thought he was in love with her. Within the same minute Dane tells her he loves her and asks her to marry him and she says yes. Then all three of them sleep together again!!! What type of foolishness!!?? What man is going to let his brother sleep with his fiancee?

Also there was a whole other story with the secretary Melanie being in love with Rafe, but it's not worth getting into. The only reason I would read the next book would be if it was free.

Meh... This was originally a serial, so I am going to review each part separately as it was originally published.Part one: The SeductionJessica and Dane meet under mistaken identity (she thinks he is the ex-boyfriend that she's still pining over) but hit it off enough to go to dinner together. Going to dinner leads to a heated night of passion. Jessica doesn't want an awkward morning after scene so she slips out of her hotel room with only a note. But when a job lands her back into Philadelphia, Dane's city, she can't help but think about him. And wouldn't you know, the new job lands her right in his path. You can obviously tell that this story is just getting started. There's hints of BDSM in here, with Dane wanting to make a sub out of Jessica although she's not used to giving over control to someone in bed.I knew that they were going to cross paths again in some relation to this job, so we'll just have to see what happens next.Part two: The Morning AfterSo, Jessica goes back to Philadelphia for her new job and guess who her boss is? Yes, you guessed it Dane. She will be his personal assistant. But will she be able to resist him? She needs to keep their relationship professional, but is that an impossible task?Interestingly enough, Jessica's ex-boyfriend Storm keeps coming up. He's a musician in her brother's band who broke her heart when he up and left her without an explanation. And I see where this is going from a mile away. Are you with me?Needless to say, I enjoyed this second installment although I've got a pretty good idea where this is heading. I'm interested to see how that's going to be introduced into the plot.Part three: Perfect StormSo, things are going along fine with Jessica and Dane's "arrangement". They are getting it on a lot at the office. But, don't you know that's way too easy??In walks a blast from Jessica's past. Two guess on who it is. And how do you think he knows where Jessica works?Part Four: True LiesStorm is back. What does that mean? What happens with Jessica and Dane? Things get a lot more complicated with that. Just when I thought things were going well with Dane and Jessica, a monkey wrench is thrown into the mix. I think I know where this is headed but I'm not sure how I feel about it. We'll have to see what happens in the ext part.Part Five: EntangledJessica is torn between two men. Both of them hold her heart in different ways. She has to decided who she is going to choose, but the decision is proving to be incredibly difficult. So, yeah, this one ended exactly the way I predicted. I'm completely ready for the last chapter in this saga.Part Six: ForeverOh my goodness, I don't think I've encountered characters more stupid than these three in some time. GAH, it was so frustrating reading this last installment. I was hoping things would get more straightforward, but seriously, they just got worse. While I knew where this was headed, I wasn't exactly sure of how it was going to end and it was pretty bad. Just seemed a bit thrown together over all.I definitely liked the first parts better than the last so I'd give them 3.5 STARS and the last parts 2.5 STARS. So ultimately I end up giving this on 3 STARS.*Advanced Reader's Copy provided by NetGalley and Publisher in exchange for an honest review*

* I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *

This story starts out with Jessica visiting Philadelphia in hopes of finding a job at a career fair. She see's a man that looks just like her ex Storm, that she is still in love with. She follows the man into a coffee shop and walks up to greet him. She finds out it's not him and gets embarrassed and walks away. The handsome man is a successful business man named Dane. Later, Jessica is trying to get a cab in the rain. Dane see's her out in the rain and tells his driver to stop so he can offer her a ride. She accepts and on the ride to the career fair they talk and Dane gives her advice on how to handle her interview and they hit it off. Reluctantly, he tells her goodbye but he can't get her out of his head so he thinks of a way to see her again.

Jessica gets a call for a great job opportunity in Philadelphia. So, she moves there and finds out her first day, that her boss is the handsome man she couldn't get out of her head since she left Philly, Dane. She is apprehensive because she thinks he might just be hiring her for personal reasons and she tells him that, but he states that he really wants her to work for him and they will remain professional as long as she wants it to be. So, she is his assistant and everyday she comes to work, the sexual tension is out of this world. Jessica is very attracted to Dane but she just got out of a serious relationship and the man (Storm), walked out on her and broke her heart. And, now Dane is her boss and she doesn't want to get involved with her boss. Dane is a dominant and has incredible self control but with Jessica he is finding it hard to maintain his control.

They eventually give in to their desires with the understanding that their relationship will be sexual only. This is Jessica's demand. Jessica finds that she really likes to submit to Dane and things get intense and they have a very deep connection. Until Storm finds Jessica and wants her back.

This is when things get really interesting but I can't give anything away. But, I will say that Jessica is one lucky girl!!! She gets to have both for a bit and it is HOT! Of course, she makes a decision in the end and it is the right one. There is a little bit of ménage in this book and I was surprised but pleasantly surprised. ;) There are a lot of surprises in this book, as a matter of fact.

This story has different POV's and I like that a lot. There was some angst in the book but it gets solved fast. I gave 4 stars because some of the angst got to me a little and it was a little hard to absorb, but there is NO CLIFFHANGER. And, I was happy with the ending. I definitely recommend getting the full book because it would have drove me crazy to only read parts at a time. Great story though!

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

His to Possess was originally a serial and has now been combined into this one book. I haven’t read anything written by Opal Carew before, so I was excited to see what she would deliver with this book.

The story begins with Jessica pursuing a guy who resembles her ex, Dane, and immediately they have a connection. This was quite an amusing time for Jessica as she made a mistake and tries to cover it up. And then Dane offers her a lift to the convention… which was sweet! When they meet again the tension continues to build, and one thing leads to another… and you get the drift *wink*. Jessica gets a job in the end, and things get a little difficult for her, but the passion between Jessica and Dane never fizzles.

There was a twist in the story which I had figured out long before it happened and I was interested to see how things would work out for all of the characters. Dane is a dominant male, and I didn’t think he would handle it well. Jessica was able to explore a sexual side to her with Dane that she hadn’t attempted before, so I couldn’t see her going back to the ex. But Storm had her head all over the place and I could see why she was confused. When the three of them got together though, that was probably where I drew the line. Up until then I was enjoying the book, the decisions Jessica had to face about who she wanted and what would make her happy.

Opal has a writing style that draws you into her world and had me wanting to know more. For the most part I enjoyed the book; I liked the characters and who Jessica chose. But how the ending wrapped up, not so much. There are some lines that should not be crossed… not once but twice! Really? I don’t think that it would deter me from picking up more work written by Opal in the future though!

This book was very one dimensional. We didn't really get to know much about Jessica outside of her sexual preferences. She became wishy washy about two men but we only knew her indecision concerned enjoying sleeping with both of them. She was not someone who I identified with or even liked quite frankly.

I also had a hard time following because of editing, we get multiple POVs but the spacing between them acknowledging someone else's thoughts was not discernible in the ARC I received. It jumps back and forth quite quickly. (*I also had a lot of zeros and 1's interspersed in the words in the ARC I was given, but attribute that to early release and likely not expect that of the published copy so not taken into account in this review also was definitely irritating.)

Sex was hot, but outside that, didn't get much out of this one. If we had seen relationships develop a bit more outside of the bedroom, might have added some much needed depth.

Thanks to Allison for her hot updates of this book and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review (as if there are any other kinds, right?)

This is a very hot serieal series turned into a complete book. It involves an unemployed Jessica who is on her way to a Jon fair when she stops off in a coffee shop. She sees a man who reminds her of her ex-boyfriend Storm and is embarrassed when she realizes after chasing him down that she is mistaken on his identity.

Well it start to rain so said stranger who turns out to be sexy CEO Dane Ranier gives her a ride in his limo to the job fair. They meet again that night and you can guess where that leads too. Some serious SMEXY time !! Jessica believes that is the end of it but when she is offered a job at the fair she doesn't realize she will be working for the smae man she had a one night stand with. Now they have to get back to being professional after having a sexual past.

When they can't fight it anymore Jessica gives into Dane's Dominant ways and some fan-fricking-tastic love scenes occur. The catch Storm Jessica's ex that she never got over comes back into the picture. Oh what is a girl to do????

I gonna leave you with that. And just say this is not a book you want to miss. It involves some very sexy guys and some great lovin' !!

This is an ARC, given to me by St. Martin's Griffin via Netgally for an honest review.

I didn't hate it nor did I love it. It was a bit meh.

Story:

Jessica's life was in turmoil. After her boyfriend broke up with her and she lost her job and is about to lose her apartment. She heads to Philly, for a job fair, hoping that her luck might change. But one mistaking identity, rescue from the rain, and one hot sex with sexy Dane Rainier later. It would seem fate has other plans, when her ex,Storm,a heavily muscled, motorcycle-riding rock musician, enters back into her life. Both Dane and Storm make her body burn to be possessed, but will her indecisive heart cost her the love of both men? Let the love triangle begin!

For me this was a tad too dramatic and the characters were a bit off. They didn't grab me as I thought they would. I kept waiting for the book to get better but it just wasn't gonna happen. I did like the sex and Dane's go get 'em attitude. The way Dane and Jessica met was also good.

Well As always…… Happy Reading! :) <\i><\b>

Sweet heavens this was terribly written. Any situation involving her hair included the word "tumbled." It was that kind of book. And don't get me started on the penis references. "Plum-sized head"?? I'm really hoping she meant Italian plums. I thought about counting adjectives such as HUGE and MASSIVE in the sex scenes, but I can't count that high.

As for the plot-line itself? Completely standard with some added fail. I didn't care much about Jessica's bed-hopping in terms of slut-factor, it only bothered me because it was incredibly insensitive to everyone involved.

PLUM-SIZED.

Thanks go to Netgalley for the e-ARC.

***ARC received through Netgalley***

2,5 stars

Except for the last part in the story, His to Possess was really interesting and entertaining to read. It was hot and steamy but then, everything started to crumble for me when the heroine started to be with both of the characters. Really, it was frustrating and annoying. I think even the author didn't know what character she prefered or something.

So, it's not like l hated everything because this book had the potential to be one of my favourites. It was really good at first and I enjoyed that part. The ending was also creepy and just didn't make sense.

Oh and by the way, I just LOVED Storm. He was great ;).

Well I'm flummoxed. The book started out great...got truly bizarre and then crashed. I loved the beginning when she met Dane... Understood she was coming from a bad break up...that was Storm. But then Storm is Danes brother and then she starts having sex with both of them. Then ménage a trois... Some silly domination, and then Storm wants her to marry him. Aaa agh....I can't keep it straight. So I liked it then it fell apart. Thanks netgalley.
