The conclusion to this duet finally gives us all the answers you might have when reading the first book.
Silas was still the great MMC that he was in the first book, and he kept that momentum going throughout this one. He truly loves Ophelia and wanted to do everything for her and make sure she never knew pain but sadly the people around them had other plans.
Ophelia, however, makes dumb decisions again in this book and I just wanted to scream at her to stop and think for a minute. To finally see the light concerning Silas's family and their ulterior motive.
Disturbing secrets are revealed. The truth is never pretty, and this is shown over and over in this duet. Silas was right when he said that some things are best left unknown.
There was a bit of an anticlimactic feel concerning two villains and what happens with them, but I think it showed that despite them being evil, there was one other person that was worse, and their demise needed to be the main center of the ending.
The plot seemed a bit cobbled together, like the author was just making it up as they went along. However, every time I came to an overly-dramatic 'twist', I let it go. The fun in this kind of story isn't in its exactitude or plausibility. But what I couldn't let go was the heroine being left in the dark for so long, like she was just a passive cut-out in her own story. 😒
This is the conclusion of Ophelia and Silas and story and it starts right where the first one ended and it was full of Twists and turns. I loved the character and their chemistry and eveything about this one. It was thrilling, emotional and so many secets were being revealed one by one. I soo loved Ophelia and her character development throught out the series and Silas was amazing being rough around the edges but soft for her. I enjoyed this one.
I liked the book even though I was a little confused in some parts, but I attribute that to my (perhaps) misunderstanding of the words, i.e. with words that can be translated in several ways. Just to emphasize, English is not my native language. What I didn't like was the love relationship between close relatives (it's a bit sick to me). In my country ,a brother is a brother even though we have only one common parent. The story as a story is excellent, I had the feeling that I was watching an action movie and the book has all the recommendations from me.
I was so excited to see how this duet ends!! No spoilers but there are more secrets to be uncovered!!
Silas and Ophelia have this epic connection - he has always been there for her time and time again…except now is he really the villain? Who is pulling the strings?
Oh Silas, he has been in love with Ophelia for so long. I loved the story about his mom and the feathers. We definitely get to see his sweeter side.
I really felt for Ophelia as she tried to wade through all of BS that everyone in her life had dumped on her. Yes, she makes some naive decisions and yes people close to her tried to make decisions to protect her but hiding the truth has now put her in danger.
But there is one secret that ultimately stays hidden and I really liked how the author handled it.
“Some things are better left unknown.”
✨Genre/Tropes 🖤Dark Romance 🩷Jealous/Possessive MMC 🖤Anti-hero 🩷Touch her and ☠️ 🖤Marriage of Convenience 🩷Heroine in danger 🖤Friends to enemies to lovers
We begin right where book one left off with that huge cliffhanger. Can Ophelia find the truth of who she truly is and what the Fox Family wants with her? Can she ever trust Silas again? Will the dangers around them finally be revealed so they can live in peace? An edge of your seat conclusion to this dark romance. All your questions will be answered and of course get your heart racing too. I could not put this down. The connection between Silas and “O” was perfect and their extracurricular activities were quite something too! ;) Told in first person and dual POV
This second book in this duet starts where the last book left me on a big cliffhanger. Ophelia is confused who to trust and she has a lot to discover about some very big secrets, who’s manipulating who, the past and about herself. Silas is steadfast in his support for her. He’s a busy man trying to get answers and taking care of business. He’s patient with her uncertainties. It’s a fast paced story with plenty of spicy heat. Everything gets revealed and it’s an entertaining, engaging journey to get there. This was a very enjoyable book and duet.
"You can't marry Ethan Fox, if you're already married to me."
The story picked up exactly where it left us in the first book and it was very intense from the very first moment... Ophelia is in a bad place mentally and psysically... Ethan's lies had found their mark inside of her and for once again, she doesn't trust Silas and his intentions... I was frustrated by her, but I can understand that all these manipulations over the years had made a number to her and now she feels that her old time hero is a plain villain who can hurt her like no other since he is having a piece of her heart... But Silas is proving over and over again in here that he will always be her protector even though she wants to believe otherwise...
"Try to remember I'm not your enemy, will you?"
I love Silas so much... This man had lost so much in his life, and even though he needs to avenge the man who had made his life a living hell, for Ophelia and the love he is feeling for her, he can put aside his plans and to focus on her best interests... The first thing he wants to do is to marry her cause if she is married to him, she can not marry Ethan... But Ophelia won't surrender without a battle and still, he is there by her side, battling for the two of us.
"Saving Ophelia is what matters and if I need to be the villain to do it, so be it."
I loved Silas and Ophelia's story... Their journey was paved with thorns that were cutting deeply, but when there is love by your side, you can face anything... Even the ugly things!!! And they were too many ugly things in here!!! Too many secrets and betrayals... Too many villains after them!!! These two were meant to be, but love is not always easy... It has to be tested many times to find her rightful place... And these two had been tested so many times... It wasn't always easy, it wasn't always smooth, but it was magnificent to see them falling for each other!!!
"I don't need you to rescue me anymore, Silas." "I will always rescue you, Ophelia."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
The Villains We Makeis book #2 of the Heroes and Villains Duet. The conclusion of Silas and Ophelia's story will have you on the edge of your seat. The twists and complications just kept coming and coming!
I no longer know what is true, what was a lie, what is true now, what is a lie now.
There are so many things happening. Murders, blackmail, kidnapping, beatings and more. Silas is still the brooding, intense, alpha hero - or is he the villain?? That is the question! Ophelia has been through so much. The end of book one had me gasping at what she had to endure. She remains a gentle soul, but I lost my patience with her at times. She has gone through so much.
Ophelia is for me. In some sense, I've know it for a long time, but never like I do now. Never so clearly.
I love Natasha Knight's style of writing. It flows and pulls at you. The Villains We Make was quite the conclusion. It really put me through my paces. If you love dark romance, then this is the read for you! I can't wait to read what she writes next!
In this installment, Natasha Knight wraps up the story of Sillas and Ophelia.
We finally get the answers to the questions that plagued our minds: the motives behind the manipulation of the Foxes towards Ophelia and the origins of her birth.
Secrets find their way to the light and Silas will do just about anything to protect Phee from any outside harm. But how far is he willing to go to ensure that?
Some things are better left unknown.
Some truth have no place being unearthed and I loved how Natasha navigated this point. There's only one other book that used the same approach she did and I am glad that this was the way she chose.
I loved this book with my whole heart. In the first book Silas intrigued me but in this book he absolutely stole my heart. This man that has only known hardship is capable of love and his love is deep and sincere. I loved the scenes where we got to see a very soft side of him, scenes where him and Phee are just being. I wish we could get more of those scenes in an extended epilogue but what we have is plenty enough.
“Put your hands on the headboard,”
The spicy scenes where just as amazing as always. Natasha Knight has a way of imbuing love into those scenes that even if you are not comfortable reading sexually graphic scenes, you still enjoy them for the emotional aspect. She writes some amazing cathartic sex scenes.
Ophelia still managed to show how inexperienced with life she is. She trusted too much and made a few naive decisions that were pivotal to this story.
I loved how the story wrapped up. With the actual antagonist coming forward. I have to say, I did not see that coming although it was heavily hinted in the previous book.
Thank you to Natasha Knight and Candice Kane PR for the amazing opportunity of reading this early copy in exchange for an honest review.
This books (duet) had so many twists, secrets, turns, shockers - you name it, it’s in here. These books follow Ophelia and Silas through a seriously twisted story of their lives. This duet jumps between past and present (a little bit) to give a picture of how Ophelia, Silas and the rest of the Fox and Heart family came to be where they are today.
Poor Ophelia was constantly being manipulated (or made to believe she was). She had a really hard time in the first book believing in herself or her previous relationships. We see in the second book how that broke both Ophelia and Silas. Silas was the perfect anti-hero. He was always there rescuing Ophelia and working behind the scenes. I loved the symbolism and the little bread crumbs the author put in there so you have some idea of what is coming but not the whole story. There was a lot going on so it was a little hard to keep things straight sometimes but the ending was perfect. You definitely want to check for TWs but if you can - happy reading!
Natasha Knight has done it again and absolutely nailed the conclusion of this romantic suspense thriller. I loved it!
Following straight on from where the first book finished, Silas and Ophelia took us on a thrilling roller coaster of action, suspense, emotion and sizzling chemistry.
"saving Ophelia is what matters and if I need to be the villain to do it, so be it."
I loved Silas, he was dark, dangerous and possessive, he'd been through and lost so much, but was still willing to forgo the revenge he'd planned for years, if it meant keeping Ophelia safe. Ophelia was battered and bruised, body and soul following the events in book one. Although she was strong and resilient, she'd lost her faith in all the men in her life. Could she sort the truth from the lies and discover who she really was and trust Silas again?
There were twists and turns to this story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely loved it and whilst the conclusion was very satisfying, I was left wanting more of this wonderful couple.
The Villains We Make (Heroes and Villains Duet #2) Natasha Knight. I was so excited for this book to have come out so close book 1. I really loved the way book 1 ended, and I was curious where the author was going to take book 2. Silas was able to rescue Ophelia from Ethan and his family. However, Ophelia is in bad shape, physically and mentally. She doesn't know who to trust and who is telling the truth. She knows what Ethan and his dad did to her. She believes Silas burnt her childhood home down. Silas is trying his best to keep her safe while trying to convince her that he truly cares about her. More secrets were revealed. There were more twists and turns, which kept me on edge. I was truly shocked once everything was revealed. It's a really good story. Silas was everything . The story left me with a smile on my face. A true happily ever after. 4.5 stars for me.
We have the conclusion of Silas and Ophelia's story and get some interesting twists and answers. I really enjoyed Silas as the MMC. He continued his hero-villainess by protecting Ophelia and also keeping secrets from her. Ophelia started to be a little annoying for me, but in the end she did what she promised she would do...what all hero's would do....you have to read to find out.
I really do enjoy this author. She tends to keep her stories tight and clean. The only issue I had with this last book was that instead of picking up steam, which the story had the power to do, it seemed to lose it about 3/4th of the way through. There was intrigue, murder and kidnapping, and of course the smexy scenes to keep us happy. But it became a little too predictable to have the wow factor that a lot of her stories do. All in all, I really did enjoy the story, 4 stars from me.
MY most anticipated conclusion this year!!! My goodness-this author is just absolutely my favorite, possibly ever. Each book she writes-each story-so tortured, so angsty, so much push and pull, and this was no shortage of those things! We’re left off on the edge of our seat-danger lurking, but we finally get to see a little bit of happiness in the first book. Silas and Ophelia have been through literally almost everything-but with a danger that could possibly claim someone’s life, the story just gets that much more adventurous which triggers an even deeper love story.
If I could give this series more than five stars, I would. This is a wonderful way to tie up loose ends and give us readers a breath of fresh air.
I have been waiting and thinking about this conclusion since I finished the Heroes We Break. And it was so good and I didn't have to wait long. I was not prepared for the twists in this but I enjoyed them. The secrets her father has been keeping, a few deaths, and that last rescue!
After the rescue, Ophelias awakes in a home she doesn't recognize. Silas is there and he lets her know that they will be getting married. Because she can't marry Ethan, if she's already married to him.
He used to be her hero and now he's one of her villains.
One thing she knows for sure is that whenever she's needed him or been in danger, he always comes for her.
He needs her to understand that this marriage is real and that he married her because he loves her.
And he'll continue to protect her forever.
Thanks so much to the author and Candi Kane PR for this ARC to review.
Firstly, trigger warnings - discussion of DV and SA, probably some dubcon too. This duet was crazy. I really enjoyed it. Silas was a little *too* controlling and possessive for my liking, and Ophelia was very much a passive pawn. It was good to see her push back more at the end, but I wish she’d been able to come into her own more. I also wish Mira had played more of a part, but it is in keeping with their scenario that she was very passive too. I wish we’d had a chance to see Ophelia and her dad talk through everything at the end as I feel they had a lot that was left unsaid.
The pacing of the book was good. The world felt very contained due to the limited number of characters. The villains (Ethan and Sly) were despicable. The mystery and intrigue did a good job of driving the pace, as did the threats to Ophelia’s safety. All up, it was a great read - not too long, not stuffed with meaningless moments.

What goes around, comes around…
If you had read the first book; The Heroes We Break, then you know leaving it at that cliffhanger was not an option. Not reading this book was NEVER an option.
What I thought was an already intricate maze of secrecy and doubt in the first book, was nothing in comparison to the labyrinth of schemes, deception, and mistrust in this second book.
The pacing slows down as the story gets more elaborate. Plot twists are dropping left, right, and centre that there’s a lot to take in. Some predictable, some not. But throughout it all, you can’t help but feel the need to see Ophelia’s and Silas’ story through to the end. These two confront some pretty dizzying developments that always resulted in a “one step forward, two steps back” progression in their relationship.
However, one thing I found unwavering was Silas’ ultimate game plan. Mete out vengeance, and get the girl. Come hell or high water he was going to see it through.
This book evoked some strong emotions out of me. I spent half of the time frustrated and half of the time at the edge of my seat waiting to see how these MCs were going to handle the situations they were thrown into. I became so invested that it’s a testament to how appealing the writing and characters are.
The first book introduced varying familial dynamics, but they get more interesting and a lot more complex in this second book. There’s an obvious contrast amongst Ophelia’s and Silas’ families, and although these relationships are fictional, there were still some realism and relatability present. Not only did these characters’ backstories set precedence, but it also set the overall tone of the story. It’s gloomy and romantic elements took a bit of a backseat to matters that needed immediate attention.
This book broaches on sensitive matters that may be triggering for some readers. It contains rape (off-page), suicide (off-page), explicit violence and sexual content, blackmail, stalking, and death. It’s intended for readers 18+ only.
For a good chunk of the story neither Ophelia nor Silas could catch a break. Certain subplots were introduced only to conclude abruptly, and I was saddened by a particular circumstance, but it was safe to say their HEA was much-deserved and worth the wait.
I mentioned this in my review for the first book, but I’m reiterating it in this one— Silas is THE main attraction. This is his journey from cruelty and helplessness to courageousness and becoming a force to be reckoned with. He’s a determined, morally grey hero who has great intuition. If all else failed, he’s the one pillar of strength you could always rely on, and it was exhibited time and time again.
The writing is effortless to follow. The world-building is just diabolical enough to keep things engaging, and the antsy atmosphere throughout really elevated my reading experience. This duet is definitely different from Knight’s other dark romances. It’s more a contemporary with darkish tendencies that broached on sensitive matters.
Give this duet a try, if you enjoy romance reads containing any of the following:
- Next-Door Neighbours - Secret Crush - Friends-to-Lovers - Forbidden Romance - Age-Gap Romance - Marriage of Convenience
Make sure to read The Heroes We Break prior to starting this one, as it’s a continuous storyline.
It’s thought-provoking from start to finish. Also, heartbreaking at times. But at the end of the day, this story represented good prevailing over evil. And man, were there tons of evil to overcome. I enjoyed reading it. If you’re an avid fan of Knight like I am, it’s not to be missed. If you love dark contemporary romances, or relatively new to the sub-genre, this is a spicy yet suspenseful read I recommend adding to your TBR.
Every twist led to another, and then it still all fell apart! I loved the way this story played out, and a big part of that was that I loved Silas and Ophelia. The way things started, progressed, and finalized with them, such a natural growth, from the kids they had been, to the adults they became, to the life they are experiencing now. I also totally felt that things didn’t tie up in a nice neat bow, and while our couple has closure, life still has frayed edges that simply get to be that way, and that’s okay. Lots of heat, lots of intrigue, some tears, and a great big HEA for our couple <3
Who is the villain now??? This conclusion was exhilarating! I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen. Did it happen that way? ...Nope! I Love the suspense and unexpected twists in this book and of course the romance! Silas and Ophelia's relationship is the hottest degree of spiciness! Their lives are in constant turmoil but boy do they burn up the pages. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and delivered me a thrilling ride. I LOVE IT!!
The conclusion continues to keep you on the edge of your seat, the twists keep on coming and your captivated! I fell harder and harder for Silas as i read this part, the need he had to protect Ophelia is his priority. He’s demanding and in control of everything.
This is book two in the Heroes and Villains Duet and all is finally revealed. Ophelia just seems to be a pawn in everyone's game and she is becoming quite sick of it. Can her and Silas work things out?
After reading the first book in this duet, The Heroes We Break, I needed more of Silas and Ophelia. And this second book is the perfect ending. I was taken on a whirlwind of lies, deceit and lust and love. So many emotions swirled in my head and heart! Silas is fiercely protective of Ophelia, so much so, he feels the only true way to protect her is to marry her. But does Ophelia feel the same way? The men in her life have always told her what to do, and for some reason she only believes in Silas. These two are formidable and their love didn’t come easy. So many outside forces threaten them but these two were bound to persevere. Their chemistry is chart topping hot and I swear my Kindle had smoke coming off the pages. Many times my heart stopped and I couldn’t take a breath until I knew what happened next. If ever there was a duet to read, this is most definitely it. This author knocked this story right out of the park! Pure brilliance!
The final instalment of the Heroes and Villains Duet, The Heroes we Break left us on a nice cliffhanger and that’s exactly where we start off in The Villains we Make.
Silas and Ophelia’s is definitely a love story in the making, and it’s took a long time making them admit it.
Silas is the super grizzly alpha male when it comes to Phee and he will do anything to protect her, however Phee no longer knows who to trust.
Lots of twists and turns in this one to bring the story to a close, with plenty secrets to be uncovered.
Thoroughly enjoyed this series, which was slightly different for Natasha, and I love the different, still has dark elements, but moved away from Mafia/society.
“…people like us, Ophelia, we don’t marry for love.”
The conclusion of Ophelia a Silas’ story was just perfect, this is one of those stories you want to read once a year at least, it has everything, angst, sexual tension, a beautiful love story, a past between the characters that only makes stronger the emotions in the present; and one of the most beautiful happily ever after, I cant wait to have my copies so I can display them like they are meant to be.
What to expect: - Mafia romance - Troubled anti hero - Enemies to Lovers - Sexual tension to the roof - Scorching hot scenes - Dual POV - HEA
