Return to the World of C.R.O.W. with Stitching Palms, an M/M Paranormal Romance
Diego Gregorio de Bimini needs a vacation.
After his roommate stirs up trouble with the Enforcers of witch law, he decides to do just that.
Heeding the summons to the Conch Republic, the Stitch Witch spends his days lounging in the sun and trawling Key West for curious items, occult and otherwise. When the discovery of a cursed item from his past places the Stitch Witch at risk of being discovered by the very Enforcers he hopes to avoid, Diego makes a deal with a local pawnbroker to spare the mortal world from an ancient threat.
B.L. Brown is a writer of paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and fantasy. She loves a good slow burn but recognizes that sometimes two characters collide with explosive chemistry that must be acknowledged. And boy, is it fun to read.

“Never forget, witch,” his voice dropped on the word, desire curling in the consonants, and Diego’s hips rolled of their own accord. “Curse aside, I treasure you.”
Diego of Ritual Income gets his own book and a cutie pie boyfriend. Only there’s something up with the boyfriend, and we have this slow unfolding of plot as Diego tries to find a cursed artifact before it claims the cutie, Trav.
After having my slump busted, I messaged the author to see if I could snag an ARC. She graciously said yes and I said YES. I really love this freaking world that feels like part chaos and like the powers that be are trying to keep desperate hold on containing it and the world is like, “here, hold my keys.” Every book is a treat. Diego and Trav are so freaking cute, and I’m glad Diego got his HEA because he freaking deserves it.
I took a chance with Shady depths way back when, and I’ve really fallen for this world in a way I didn’t think I would.
B. L. Brown does it again with an addictive addition to her C. R. O. W. Urban fantasy/paranormal series - but this time we get to follow Diego!!
I had so much fun reading this book. It’s funny, it’s got some fire tension/banter/spice, the story was interesting and there’s just something so magical about getting sucked into BL Brown’s real yet magical worlds!
While this book is a standalone that can be enjoyed without reading Ritual Income - I think reading it will add so much MORE to your enjoyment of the series. And both are just as addictive to read!!
This series is such a refreshing and unique twist on pnr stories. I cannot recommend it enough!!
Diego Gregorio takes a trip down to Key West, Florida for some much-needed relaxation after helping his Death Witch roommate solve a string of cursed murders. How does his vacation go? Well, he gets attacked by an occult necklace from his past and some very rowdy chickens. Oh, and did I mention he meets a very sexy pawnbroker and they have LOTS of fun.
This book was a very cute fantasy/mystery/romance that is perfect to read while lounging lazily in the sun on a warm spring or summer day. It was fun and fairly low-stakes. Compared to the previous books in the series, this one was much more lighthearted but no less engaging. I will continue to rave about urban fantasy with witches because it is my favorite subgenre of fantasy and B.L. Brown does it perfectly! The world-building, the character development, and the spice are all immaculate. Brown does an incredible job of dropping small, seemingly irrelevant details into her story that come back later to create a beautifully woven intricate tapestry of a story. My only criticism is that I wish this book were a little longer. Nevertheless, Brown’s books are so fun and a genuinely refreshing take on fantasy in a genre that seems to have too many of the same stories these days.
Also, this author has said the books in these series can be read as stand-alone novels and I don’t disagree but I think they work better when read in order as a traditional series. In this book in particular, characters and events from the previous book are brought up a few too many times for the book to truly work as a stand-alone. Although you can grasp the story without missing too much, the main character’s motivations and internal dialogue are better understood by having read at least the previous book in this series.
*MINOR SPOILERS HERE* Lastly, I want to say fuck B.L. Brown for ending the book on that cliffhanger. How could you do that to my heart? That being said, after a much-needed reprieve from Milla and Darkly, I am so excited to see that we get more of them in the next book.
Spice rating: 3.5/5 — some very explicit scenes sprinkled throughout, although no kink/fetish. Will I continue the series? Absolutely! Would I read another book by this author? Absolutely! Would I read again? Sure!
I will concede that my rating is purely based on a disconnect of taste, rather than any big shortcomings of the writing itself. There are some things that worked for me extremely well, and other parts that absolutely did not.
What I liked:
The setting. I am not an urban fantasy guy, but the setting (the Florida Keys) piqued my curiosity and I really enjoyed everything it had to offer. The way the writing kept things colorful and magical and special really complimented the place and made even the pesky chickens seem endearing. It always felt sweaty and bright and vibrant, and it sparked my appetite in the loveliest ways. I also loved the way the writing described magic, and the different ways it worked with different people. The witch systems themselves were fascinating and creative and clearly have a lot of lore behind them, but everything was introduced naturally and it never felt overwhelming. There was just the right balance to leave me wanting more and enjoying every morsel offered. I also loved Diego - his history, his present, and the links between both. His Way of being a witch was totally unique and it was really cool to see the way his talent was utilized for the plot. I enjoyed most of the other characters too, and was never bored by them.
What I disliked:
The sex scenes did not work for me, at all. I typically don't have any issue with lengthy or frequent sex scenes, but for this book I found myself wanting to blur past them to get right back to the plot, every time. And I'm not quite sure why that is. Maybe there wasn't enough build up from the start, or maybe it was Trav himself, who I couldn't get a solid grip on, personality-wise (which worked great for the plot, but not for convincing passionate romance). The constant inclusion of alcohol as a lead up to the sex also did not help matters. The writing for the scenes themselves was not bad, but they really brought down my overall experience.
That being said, this is a fascinating book. The writing and concepts were fun, the plot interesting, and I definitely want to check out more from this author and series (as this is my first entry to it!)
*I received an advance review copy of Stitching Palms for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Stitch Witch Diego decided he needed a vacation and headed for Key West, wandering around as he searched for strange or unusual items. A bicycle apparently wasn’t a good means of travel as evidenced by the crazy chicken attack. But he did meet Travis (“Trav”) who tried to help him as he was sprawled on the ground being pecked by a chicken. Trav walked him over to his pawnbroker store to clean up his wounds and, in the process of taking care of Diego, the two became very aware of each other. But as he was being bandaged out in the kitchen, Diego glanced at some photographs and felt a prickling at his fingertips as he saw a medallion that meant ruin and destruction. Trav explained that he had to take pictures to register everything he brings into his pawn shop with the Sheriff in case any of it has been reported as stolen. Diego tried to get more information about the medallion but Trav couldn’t tell him specifically since someone either pawned it or Martin had found it in his explorations. Martin would have indicated it, but he had… died.
Will the cursed item from his past put Diego at risk? Can he protect other people, and especially Trav, from the threat? And will Diego and Trav be drawn closer together as Diego deals with this danger and tries to save Trav?
This book was difficult to read at times because of the foreign words and accents which I found distracting and irritating. It totally threw me out of the story at every occurrence as I tried to backtrack and figure out what it said. But the overall story line was good and will keep the reader’s attention.
I am so happy I received an advanced copy of this book via Book Funnel! Stitching Palms is part of a larger series, but can be read as a standalone book. I haven’t read any of the others (yet!), and although this one references characters and events from the other stories, I didn’t feel lost or confused.
Diego is a stitch witch, and makes the mistake of riding a bicycle around Key West, causing a chicken related injury. If you’ve ever spent time in Key West, this incident makes perfect sense! I have family in the Keys and I think the chickens are some of my favorite characters in this book. Diego on the other hand, is not a fan of the chickens. But, the incident leads to him meeting Trav and there’s instant chemistry. Travis owns a pawnshop that unbeknownst to him is full of magical occult items. One item in particular grabs Diego’s attention...an item Diego recognizes from the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Diego finds himself battling a curse, and his past.
This MM paranormal romance story has everything. Witches, history, lgbtq representation, spice, sassy characters, and chickens haha. There is a lot of Spanglish on Diego’s end, and although I understand Spanish, I don’t think you need to be bilingual to understand what he’s saying. Everything is either translated in the story, or there’s enough context clues to understand. Also, if you’re reading on a Kindle you can just highlight and translate :)
I am now a B.L. Brown fan and have already downloaded the first book of the Witches of C.R.O.W. series.
3.5⭐ Stitching Palms is a great paranormal mlm story. I really liked the magic system, because it's not the typical kind of magic you'll find in every fantasy book. I adored the characters (especially Morgen) and the romance was written very well. There was tension between the characters from their very first meeting and I liked how their relationship evolved without any drama rooted in their feelings for each other, since it's not a pure romance book. In the first half of the book I was a bit confused about how the magic system worked, because I haven't read the other books yet. You can read it as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the other books from this series/world first as it probably makes it easier to understand what's going on. Nevertheless, after a while I was able to figure out the most important parts of the system. I was struggling to decide if I want to rate this book 3.5 or 4 stars. However, I decided to go with 3.5 stars as I feel like the book's missing something. It's a really great story but the main problem is resolved quite fast in my opinion. The book is only a bit over 200 pages, and the pace in the beginning was great but the end probably could've been drawn out more, since the characters didn't struggle a lot with resolving the problem. Overall, Stitching Palms is still a fantastic book and an enjoyable short read for in-between, and I will definitely read the other books.
Overall a good book and, in my opinion, better than Ritual Income and on par with Shady Depths. I do recommend reading both of these before Stitching Palms because, although the story is technically a standalone, you will probably have questions if you don't, and things will definitely make more sense if you do. I love Diego as a character and was very happy to see him happy and to learn more about his history, and Trav is a sweetheart. The recurring chicken bit was great, too!
I think the pacing was better than Ritual Income, but the timeline wasn't super clear and the way it read didn't feel like it lined up with Ritual Income, but that's not absolutely necessary for the story, and it felt like the plot twist was trying to hide behind a curtain made of cellophane. To an extent it was believable that Diego didn't realize, but it did get a little repetitive and frustrating after a while. Between Diego (who I can excuse to a certain point), Morgen (come on! she's a centuries old, crazy powerful witch!!), and the cultists (seriously? no pillow talk led to any revelations??), it shouldn't have gotten that bad. The resolution was exactly what I thought it would be, but I don't entirely dislike predictability.
I'm definitely going to be reading future books because these not-quite-cliffhanger-sneaky-teases keep me reeled in!
If you enjoy paranormal urban fantasy/romance and plenty of adventure, Stitching Palms: A Witches of C.RO.W. Novel, is the book for you.
This is a fun and entrancing read. This is book two of this series. I read this book as a standalone and I had no trouble keeping up. After reading book 2, I immediately went to read book 1. I’m excitedly anticipating book 3.
I enjoyed the fact that witches were intertwined in this book. Personally, it’s not something that I often find in paranormal urban fantasies.
Something else I don’t often find unless, I specifically look for it, is the inclusion of a character(s) within the LGBTQIA+ community. This is a MM romance that was captivating. This book takes you into a world that you’ll get lost in.
My only criticism? Not having book 3 in my hands already. Take a chance on this novel. You won’t regret it!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Diego is a sweet, sassy character, and I was really looking forward to his love story. This book did not disappoint. When visiting Key West, he finds his shot at love in a rather adorable shop owner. Their meeting is an accident, but Trav is just the person that Diego needs. He's so caring and attentive that Diego can't help but fall head over heels while searching for a cursed object from his past. With Trav's help, he might just save the day. I was so happy that these two got their own HEA because they deserve some happiness. The way they helped each other navigate their insecurities, just by being themselves, was amazing. I think that the spice is very well-balanced with the rest of the story and it's so good. B.L. Brown never disappoints me, and I love her for it. I can't wait to read the next one!.

This is my 3rd B.L Brown book and it's fighting for first place to be my favorite, I loved Diego in Ritual Income and I'm so happy he got a book. The relationship between Diego and Trav was beautifully done, from beginning to end they repeatedly showed one another they cared. Diego may never again trust a chicken but they helped him find Trav by accident as well as having him stumble upon a cursed object that allowed him to spend even more time with Trav while he searched for it in the shop keepers store. This book has a lot of funny moments but also showed vivid emotions in both characters who were experiencing different sides of grief, Trav his loss of a father figure and Diego his old life and the fears that followed him and weighed him down and how the two were able to finally share a bit of that with another person. The spice was done amazingly and the tension was top tier between these two.
This has been a special read for me and I’m not really sure if I’m even supposed to let you all know this, but I’m able to write all of this thanks to my Ritual Income’s review. A bit of backstory: I found B.L. Brown’s Ritual Income in BookSirens; I read it, I loved it, I wrote a review (it’s, in fact, four lines down ↓). A little while ago, B.L. Brown herself texted me through Instagram because she felt touched by how I saw Diego, and as I am a native Spanish speaker, like Diego, she asked me to be a sensitivity reader for this book.
Of course I said yes! That’s mostly why we’re here after all, heheh Glad I did.
Seeing the world through Diego’s glasses is both heartbreaking and beautiful. In the first book, he was only Milla’s ‘uncle’, Milla’s support, half Milla’s boss half Milla’s coworker. I think you got it, everything around Milla. He here recovered his autonomy, who he was. He took off the layers he was under since he got back and dusted off the ones that always were his but didn’t have enough time to even look at with everything that was happening. (Which is A LOT, go read Ritual Income if you haven’t yet.)
But that’s not even remotely all of it. While doing so, he also found love. And you all- well, to the ones following me at least, should know by now what of a sucker I am for love stories. And this one is of the kind that goes over barriers, wanting to get out of the way everything that could put the relationship at risk, because there’s nothing stronger than what the persons within are feeling for each other. Not gonna lie, I was on my toes because I was expecting a second Ritual Income, a whole plot twist that could put all of it in jeopardy, but the longer I read, the less I found it, ‘cause it didn’t exist! My queers were safe!
Uh, well… kinda.
Something that I should have expected, knowing who Diego is, was the historical setting. I’m proudly ashamed to say that it was a delightful surprise. If you’re into knowing about the Spanish Inquisition with witches, you should give this a try; it won’t go into a lot of details of everything at the time of the Inquisition because that was, like, five hundred years ago by the time of the story, but- uh. That’s the most spoiler I’m allowing myself to give, hahah
So, yeah, even though this is a second installment and you will get something of the like of our main character’s introduction if you read Ritual Income, I found this book rather separated from Milla’s story (no matter how much we tried to contact her, heh, I was laughing my life out knowing why she couldn’t, but B.L. Brown was the last one to laugh, leaving me baffled by not knowing and desperately wanting to understand what the hell was that disaster in the end).
I always knew I was into witches, but this side is one that’s only surprising me with each step taken. I’m sure as hell I don’t wanna miss anything nor from the Witches of C.R.O.W. nor from the Witch of the Demesne series, and there are already a few books I want to get my hands into (and one of them hasn’t even come out yet).
A good story with a charming romance with magic at its core. While I enjoyed the fun magic system, I felt it lacked some background, especially concerning Diego and the intricacies of the magic system and C.R.O.W.. Nonetheless, the system itself was enjoyable to explore. This could be because I have not read the first book, but I don't know how much the system is explained there. The presence of addicted cultists added an intriguing layer to the narrative, although their inclusion felt a bit odd and out of place at times. Overall, while the book had some vague parts (like why is Diego even alive again) it still offered an engaging story and an endearing romance that kept me entertained throughout, so I would still recommend it.
A sidenote: an aspect that didn't quite hit the mark for me was the blurb—I found it somewhat misleading and not covering the content of the story.
I was so excited to read Diego's love story. I fell in love with him in Ritual Income. As always, I appreciate the authors used of descriptive words. Diego and Travis met my accident. Who would’ve thought a bike and a chicken could be so entwined into someone faith. The plot of the story pulled at my heart strings. Diego helping Travis navigate grief and Travis helping Diego adjust to his surroundings. Their patience with each other while learning new things was refreshing. B.L. Brown did what they do best. One highlight of this series is the magic system. I thoroughly enjoy that its different from other magic systems. IF I were a witch in this universe, I would want to be a stitch witch. The most fashionable stitch alive. I enjoyed the work yet again and can not wait until the next installment in the series.
While this book is well written and engaging, it is billed as a standalone and I struggled reading it. I had several questions as I was reading that I think would have been answered if I had read the first story in the series before this one. Like how did Diego come back to life and who is Ludmilla? Also, there was the foreign language throughout. I find it distracting and after a while, I tend to just skip it since I don’t understand it. I really did enjoy the story of the cursed object and how it came to be in Trav’s possession. Also, the cultists were a different twist too that I really enjoyed. All in all, I did enjoy reading this story, but I would recommend reading the first book in the series before this one.
Happy release day to Stitching Palms by B.L. Brown!!! Thank you to BookFunnel for this ARC read!
✨️ Review Time ✨️
This book was a great paranormal romance following male main characters. I really enjoyed the atypical magic system. I found it to be very unique. While the story was lighthearted, it was still thoroughly engaging. The world-building, character development, and spice were beautifully written. The seemingly insignificant small details that are woven into the story later are one of the most enjoyable things, in my opinion. My only real complaint is that I wish the story was longer, I feel like the ending was finished up a little too fast.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book and this author as well! I look forward to reading more of their works!
Received as an ARC in return for my honest review.
🌴 MM paranormal romance 🌴 Magical world 🌴 Witches 🌴 Cursed items 🌴 Rogue chickens 🐓
This was my introduction to the B L Brown universe and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the second book in the C.R.O.W series so I was a little bit worried I wouldn’t be able to follow it, that wasn’t the case at all thankfully but I definitely think reading the first one would help in some areas and make the wider characters in the world make a bit more sense.
Even though this isn’t pegged as a romance novel the relationship between Diego and Trav was beautiful and so well written. I absolutely loved them together!
I’d definitely like to see where the rest of this series goes for sure.
I knew a Diego book would be incoming but I was DELIGHTED that it was next up after RITUAL INCOME. Diego is a stitch witch who has to figure out how to live life in the modern world as a recently resurrected Spanish gay man while still helping the Morgenhexe keep track of forbidden and foule magical artifacts. Shouldn't be complicated right? Unless you tangle with a heartbroken pawn broker who happens to have a taste for old magical junk and handsome stitch witches.
This sultry and sweet story about a traumatized stitch witch and a heartbroken pawn broker finding love together is a delightful, sexy, hilarious read. Do you love high fashion? Read this book. Do you love weirdo antiques? Read this book. Do you love cults and wild chickens and mangrove trees? READ👏THIS👏BOOK!!!
I honestly struggled to get into this book. From the start, I was frustrated because of the language barrier (I don't speak any other languages besides English) and a huge thing for me is being able to read and understand what's being said/ happening in a book. I think that just set the tone for me for this book and it ended up being a dnf for me. I'm disappointed about this having to be my review. I'm sure it's a great book for people who can understand and don't have the same issues as me. I had to leave my review regardless due to booksprout.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had a great time reading this book and found it incredibly adorable. Diego was my favorite character as he had a spicy and sassy personality, which I absolutely loved. Although the author claimed that the book could be read as a standalone, I did find myself a little confused in certain parts, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a standalone. However, I would definitely suggest reading the previous books. Apart from that, I thought it was a well-written story with a good pace and well-developed, chemistry-filled characters. Overall, it was a balanced and enjoyable read, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next installment. Rating 3.8 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book takes you on a rousing chase to save a “mortal”, non magick, before it’s too late. Magick Is all around and it isn’t the good kind. A curse that destroys is what our heroes are dealing with. A romance is blossoming but it shares the limelight with this blasted curse. This journey is full of adventure, excitement and a love story that balances out some of the suspense. The m/c’s really keep your attention and the storyline pulls you right in.

Stitching Palms is the second book in B. L. Brown's Witches of C.R.O.W. series. This story can be read as a stand alone as it is about new main characters and has its own plot separate from the first book in the series. This is a well-written book, with an interesting magic system and world-building. The characters are great and the story is well worth reading. I received an ARC of this book through BookSirens and have read and reviewed in voluntarily.
Reading about Diego's and Travis adventure kept me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with both of the characters and felt my heart drop thinking they were going to loose each other. There are triggers in the story but if you can see past them it is a great story line and I can see many new adventures for the characters in the story. Can't wait for the next book.
This was a cute book about a witch and a pawn broker finding safe haven in each other. There was tension and snarky humor a bit of danger, plus spice and a satisfying wrap up to this short story.
Such a unique magical world, with a riveting plot. It's so hard to find a balance of amazing plot with sweet and gentle love stories and this author flipping nailed it. A+
I received a free advanced copy of this book via Book Funnel and I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was on the edge of my seat, and I think it is a really fun read. If you’re into paranormal romance I will definitely be checking out books by this author again!
I received this book as an ARC read in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to the author and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.
This was an enjoyable paranormal mystery romance following to male main characters. The story was quite interesting and had me in the edge of my seat. The romance was beautiful, however, I must be honest, this was my first MM romance.
The reason for my 3 star review is that, although you can consider this a standalone, it is linked to another story/world that I had not read, and I feel that I might have understood some things in the story better if I had read the other books. I’m the type of reader who if it’s a series, or even a companion series, I feel the need to read them all in order 😊. I will say, you can absolutely enjoy this book without reading the others, it would be just my personal preference to have read the other first (I am going to read the other books now 😉)
Stitching Palms is a wonderful adventure and one I recommend reading. There are trigger warnings for this book, so please review them before you dive in.
