It’s not only his broad shoulders and gorgeous face that wreck my equilibrium, but also a distinct tattoo on his chest that matches one on my hip.
Our chemistry is off the charts. Searing kisses make his grumpiness bearable. Every touch we share is full of fire and flashes of memories, making me wonder if our connection isn’t destiny after all.
But do the secrets he hides behind his icy blue eyes have something to do with the weekend I can’t remember and the past he can’t forget?
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, writes character driven, heart-racing suspense, and swoony romances that will leave you glued to the page. With stories ranging from witty beach reads to heart wrenching and heart healing, her stories are highly regarded as emotional, relatable, and captivating.
Her books are more than escapes for the voracious readers of today. They are journeys of the heart that always come with a happily ever after reward at the end.
Poppy Stanfield is starting fresh after narrowly escaping death in an accident two years ago. Now working as a private chef, she's faced with a boss who seems to greatly dislike her from the very beginning. She has no idea why and no memory of what happened the weekend of her accident.
With his life in a downward spiral, Laird Faris is trying to move on from love and the woman who vanished from his life two years ago. His bandmates gave him the ultimatum - get your life together or leave the band.
When their paths once again collide in the most unexpected way, it's up to Laird to help Poppy remember the past and the love they once shared.
Laird had the absolute patience of a saint. 🙌 He was so far gone for her, and I was totally here for it! Their witty, and often comical banter, was so entertaining. You could absolutely feel their connection radiating off of the pages!
"But it was the strength of your love that saved us both in the end."
Poppy didn't have the easiest life/past, and the way that Laird's family embraced her as one of their own completely melted my heart. They both 100% deserved an HEA. There's no doubt in my mind that Laird and Poppy are meant to be. Their love story is truly beautiful and makes me believe in soul mates.
"I will choose you every time. In every lifetime. Our past, present, and future. I will never discount the power of destiny again. I'm embracing it."
You'll love this book if you enjoy: 🩵 Miscommunication 💙 Rockstar MMC 🩵 Second chance love 💙 Forced proximity 🩵 He falls first 💙 Workplace romance 🩵 Insta love 💙 Found family
I was gifted an advanced digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest thoughts. Thank you SL Scott!
I have read insta-love before, but this takes the biscuit!!!! Seriously, it's nano seconds!
Laird is a famous guitarist in a band and Poppy, we discover that later, she is a private chef. They meet at one of the band's concert. I'm still unclear if it was one night or the weekend, netherless, they made plans, had sex, and got matching tattoos. Unfortunately, Poppy doesn't meet Laird the next day (so they can get married), and two years later, pass by.
We found out that weekend Poppy got into a car accident and has amnesia and only can't remember that weekend. Laird, meanwhile, is portrayed as a besotted, fixated, devoted man to Poppy and the memories they made.
I liked Laird and Poppy. Inevitably, they meet again, and Poppy doesn't recognise him, not even his name. Eventually, Laird discovers why she has no recollection of him. I liked how he was so patient with her and did everything to win her back. I found it so strange and annoying when all of a sudden, Laird is faced with a paternity test. A woman he slept with in the two years is claiming paternity potentially of her child. Seriously, a man who was so in love, besotted with Poppy, has a foursome! I don't care how drunk a man who claims to be so in love found his soul mate doesn't have a foursome!
Many tropes to enjoy:
◇ Rock Star ◇ Amnesia ◇ Second Chance ◇ Insta-Love ◇ Forced proximity ◇ Enemies to lovers
Wow what a ride! This book was emotional and frustrating! We get a glimpse into the night Laird and Poppy meet and it was insta-love. Poppy is in a horrible accident the day after they meet and loses her memory from that weekend. Destiny brings the 2 of them back together two years later. Poppy has absolutely no idea who Laird is, only that she was hired to be his personal chef while he was taking a mini vacation to get himself back together after dealing with the heartbreak of losing poppy years prior. He finally puts all the pieces together as to why she has no recollection of who he is. But they fall in love all over again. Two things I didn’t understand was how her best friend who was with her at the concert and the weekend she met laird had, did she not know poppy had been with laird that weekend? Could she not fill her in on some details? Secondly, the OW drama pregnancy scare like 70% of the way through the book made no sense. Yeah I get laird was dealing with the heartbreak of poppy not showing up, but a woman coming out of the wood work two years later asking for a paternity test? It would have been better written as him being so heartbroken and destroyed that he didn’t sleep with anyone since poppy. But instead he had a foursome in Nashville? That just didn’t mesh well with the broken man he was portrayed to be. Overall a decent read, but nothing spectacular.

Idk, but I feel like most of the books by this author are always second chances. That has a guy who is apparently in love with the fmc but still gets involved with OW during their separation. I only read 3 books by this author, and two of them were second chances with long ass separation. And this one seems to be just like all her other 2nd chance books, so yeah, not for me.

This was flat, and I held on for 12 chapters. He's a rock star, sees her in the crowd, ONS, and instalove, and he asks her to marry him but meet him for breakfast the next morning if she agrees. She's hit by a car and ends up with amnesia related to that weekend. Several years later, he's still depressed that she never showed, goes to his family cabin, and she's hired as his personal chef but doesn't remember him. Complete unrealistic, no chemistry, and it all just fizzled. DNF 30%

“Our attraction was instant, our chemistry undeniable, and the freedom to do as we please recklessly exhilarating.”
Laird and Poppy…. Oh my what can I say…. I anticipate any book S.L. Scott puts out. I love how characters from different series intermingle with each other and connect her books. I now have to go back and revisit The Crow Brothers series where Laird makes his first appearance, and Poppy is from my favorite series The Westscotts. (If you haven’t read any of those books I highly recommend them!)
“It hadn’t occurred to me until that moment that I might not have been meant to be with her the first time. That this time around might be my redemption.”
This book pulls at the heartstrings in all the right places. It makes you believe in “Kismet. Destiny. Whatever we call it, it’s real.” Fighting for the person you love. Knowing that person is your safe space and your home, even if you have to make them fall in love all over again.
“I will choose you every time. In every lifetime. Our past, present, and future. I will never discount the power of destiny again.”
You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters and this story! 🩵 Happy Reading! ⭐️🌹
Laird & Poppy – oh my word. Their story was second chance, enemies-to-lovers perfection. It was way more emotional for me than I expected, and I loved every second of it! All. The. Stars!
Stars: 5/5 Spice: 3/5
Rock star Laird has been having a hard time and goes to his family’s cabin to clear his head. But he’s surprised to find a woman in the kitchen. And the last thing he expects is for that woman to be Poppy – when he hasn’t seen her in two years.
I loved everything about this. Poppy was trying to move on with her life and at the same time, desperate to figure out the truth of her past. And Laird? I love him. He was broody and broken and just going through the motions of life. And when he finally lets his walls down? Gimme. I may have just melted into a puddle on the floor. I could not read it fast enough and didn’t want it to end, all at the same time. Highly recommend!
This book is very surface level. Like I get no emotions from it. Also, almost nothing happens. They meet, she has the accident, they don't see each other. They meet, but she doesn't remember they fall in love. She remembers. The end. No actual conflict. I'm so over these insta love tropes because there is no development of feelings of love. They make books seem so emotionless. There is a lot of telling what happening instead of showing what's happening. The whole thing with her mom and the paternity scare were also pointless. They come up, and then it's a nonissue and then bam book over. Some of the dialog tripped me up too. Like there were multiple times when I had to go back and read through the dialog to make sense of who was saying what and how it fit into what was happening at the moment.
The book starts with a one night stand between Laird and Poppy and then moves forward to the second chance aspect of the book. The first time they meet is one for all those believers in soul mates. When they found each other again I was giggling so much because of the misconceptions between them both. What hasn't changed is the attraction and connection between them, the way they just get each other was sweet and fun to read. I loved that Laird wasn't the typical rockstar dismissing Poppy instead he was all in, making plans for their future and how they would fit into each other's lives. I enjoyed the blending of other book series the author has written but if you haven't read them it doesn't matter because the storyline is easy to follow. I adored the characters of Laird and Poppy and how romantic the storyline feels. This was a story that was easy to get lost in, one that made me smile and swoon in equal measure. So if you want to see how this great love unfolds don't pass this book by.
Laird & Poppy’s story is sweet and fiery. They meet at his concert, and fall fast for one another. They are ripped apart, but when they finally come back together, you can’t stop the connection they have. I loved that Laird is turned back around to her in no time flat. He can’t hold onto his anger. I loved it!
Wow! Just WOW! Never Have I Ever by S. L. Scott is a stand-alone rockstar/amnesia romance, and it was an incredible read! I loved every single word, from beginning to end! This is definitely one of my top reads of 2024.
Laird and Poppy's story was brilliantly told. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I was all in from the prologue! It was just so different from the usual rockstar romances. I was pleasantly surprised that it was the male rockstar that was so enamored after a one-night stand, and the amnesia part of the story was so good! The whole story was pure perfection, and highly recommended with a million stars!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She can’t remember. He can’t forget. What to expect: ♡ Rock Star ♡ Amnesia ♡ He Falls First ♡ Personal Chef ♡ Second Chance ♡ Forced Proximity ♡ Enemies to Lovers ♡ No Third Act Breakup
If you do not believe in destiny or soul mates, this book will make you reevaluate your beliefs! Laird & Poppy met one night at one of his concerts, and they immediately fall in love. They share a night of passion, full of promises for the future. They agree to meet the next morning to begin a life together. Except, one of them is a no show.
The story is so well developed. the characters are described in such a way that you can't help but feel like you 'know' them. I did not know that this book is part of a series, and that some of the characters are returning characters from previous books, however the author does such a great job in recapping their lives to help with context, that it didn't matter.
The story is well paced and hooks you in immediately. This was un-put-downable.
Another swoony read from SL Scott! Never have I Ever starts out romantic and unpredictable. The opening of this book is everything! Two lovers intwined and dreaming of the possibilities! Gah! But then...life happens. Destiny, fate, and soulmates have all collided.
Time does not always heal all wounds as noted by Laird Faris, famous rock god of Faris Wheel. He is bitter and angry. His passion has fizzled as well as his patience. Lightning does strike twice and places Laird with "the one that got away," but the reunion is not a happy one. Poppy has no idea what happened one weekend two years ago. She woke up with amnesia from a car accident after narrowly escaping death. Their paths have once again crossed and wow! The anticipation of Poppy remembering Laird is almost too much!
She can't remember. I can't forget.
Never have I Ever has everything that we love about SL Scott's books: chemistry, steam, alpha men, fantastic women and lots of spice! I loved Poppy! Her kindness, her beauty, her soothing persona and her wild side are so much fun and warm feeling. Laird is part grumpy alpha (only because of his circumstance) and part holy hotness! There is definitely a slower pace with this one but I enjoyed every moment! SL Scott draws you in and makes you fall so in love with her characters.
There are many other interconnected stories that feature other members of Faris Wheel and lots of crossover character cameos. Nobody puts the "S" in swoon like S.L. Scott!
3 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow it was pretty an emotional read. Insta-love, second chance, enemies to lovers…
It was going really cute and sweet, despite miscommunication and Laird’s decision to hide that they already met before accident… Until he mentions that he hooked up with 4 women at the same time after Poppy. Really? Foursome? When it states that he was heartbroken and destroyed. I know that it’s not exactly cheating since he thought Poppy didn’t show up at the diner. But for me knowing that it was AFTER Poppy and so soon really fucked up further reading. And then Poppy gets her memories back and it’s not even mentioned. It seemed really unnecessary for me to add that to the plot. And one more thing which I would not mention in order to avoid spoilers.
Also I think author intended to put a found family angle, but it was not written very well. I would like to see more interaction with Marina and her family (as her mother is more of a mother for Poppy than her own). Same goes for Laird’s siblings, but they do appear a few times.
Overall, it was a decent read, but nothing spectacular. Though had a lot of spice.
“I will choose you every time. In every lifetime. Our past, present, and future. I will never discount the power of destiny again. I’m embracing it. My soul was with you in that car. When you pulled me from the vehicle, my heart was in your hands.”
hmm i don’t know what i expected but it was for sure not this. the pacing was really weird and i didn’t understand a lot of the actions both main characters did.
3.5⭐️ 🌶️🌶️ Love “Rockstar “ romances but this one fell a little short for me. I did fly through this book and there was some aspects that I did enjoy. But I really struggled with the beginning of this book because of all the miscommunication. Yeah I know the MFC had “amnesia “ but I just couldn’t deal with the MMC not revealing that they knew each other before her accident. There was some other tropes in this book that I disliked too and the ending was very cookie cutter HEA. Overall if you like Rockstar, Force Proximity, He falls first, workplace romance with a HEA… then you will enjoy the book . 💙💙💙
Although I’m still fairly new to this talented storyteller’s work, she won me over with the first romance I read and then proceeded to knock me flat with this one. If you’re an interconnected series fan, you'll love the way this story brings together several fictional worlds.
Second chance romance is one of my absolute favorites (next to rock star ;) ), but this one is the end-all, be-all of second chances. Give me an elusive rock star we've been teased with, pair him with a strong, fierce heroine who's a survivor with a touch of amnesia, and it's pure perfection.
I don’t know how she does it, but Scott manages to hypnotize me into her world, immerse me in the story, and make me feel everything alongside each character. And this one? Chock full of feels and complicated emotion. I couldn’t help but fall hopelessly for Laird and Poppy and couldn’t get enough.
In an uncertain, volatile world, I’ll take this unparalleled romance with a guaranteed HEA any day. Charming, angsty, poignant, and profound, Laird Faris and Poppy Stanfield are destined to become the next social media craze and your new favorite read
Can we talk about amazing, this book had a great story from begging to end. Poppy and Laird complemented each other perfect. It gave me The Vow vives but with a little more rock n roll. A story about two people loosing themselves and finding each other in the most inconvenient way. This book made me want to keep going and never stop reading just when I thought it couldn't get any better it does. The story never stops hitting you with surprise after surprise just when you think hey i figured them out no baby you have not. Never have I ever is a must add to your TBR or better yet drop what you are reading and start this love story.

“Try as you like to forget this night ever happened, this tattoo will be a daily reminder that we once existed at the same time and place.”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Suzie knows how to create the most beautiful fictional men and write the swooniest love stories.🥰
This book centered around the magnetic love story between Poppy and Laird, a sexy rockstar who falls hard for her. Their whirlwind romance takes a turn when Poppy’s accident causes amnesia, erasing memories of their passionate weekend. While Poppy remembers everything except their time together, Laird struggles with moving on. Their emotional journey back to each other is filled with frustration, humor, endearing vulnerability, and so much passion, making their chemistry palpable. Loved this book and I swooned so hard for Laird.
📖 Tropes: ♡ second chance ♡ rockstar romance ♡ enemies to lovers ♡ forced proximity ♡ amnesia ♡ soul mates ♡ he falls first
I had been wanting to read something from this author’s works for a while, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to do so. And, wow! What a story this is!
This couple’s instant love story pulled me in because, let’s be honest, who hasn’t daydreamed about a musician performing just for them at a concert? I can relate to that, and it made it simple to relate to Poppy. However, the heartbreaking turn of events that comes next?! I never saw that coming!
Laird’s emotions are deep and relatable, and I felt my heart break for him numerous times throughout this book. I admired his innate desire to keep their connection alive, a testament to his unwavering love for Poppy. Setting aside their passionate chemistry (although it’s hard to ignore because, wow, they have incredible chemistry!), his absolute conviction that they were destined to be together forever was truly beautiful.
This engaging read had me hooked from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book and am eagerly anticipating Shane’s story!
I was fortunate to receive a free copy of this one and happily leave my review.
Writing a review for a book I read and loved is a pleasure, but it can also be really tough. Especially when that book held so much emotion, brought out ALL THE FEELS, and left you smiling as if everything was right with the world and just as it was supposed to be. Well, that's how I feel when writing this review of Never Have I Ever by S.L. Scott. I can't imagine giving this book the justice it's due, but I'm going to try. I hope you'll get to know Poppy and Laird on your own as well, and I hope they inspire you, as they did me, to look for love in the little day-to-day things. They really matter!
Poppy and Laird are characters whom we've met in other books by this author. She has now brought two of her fictional worlds together, and I couldn't be more pleased. I've loved Poppy through so many books, especially When I Had You. That book brought out just how amazing Poppy is and showed us her incredible friendship with Marina Westcott. It made me love her to see the loyal friend, cheerleader, and support system she was. And to see her be on the receiving end of the support and get her own HEA has been wonderful. And to see her use those skills on Laird to help him through the tough stuff - swoon! I just love Poppy so much!
We haven't seen Laird in a while, but being brought back to the land where Faris Wheel was born felt like a homecoming. Laird wore his heart on his sleeve in this book. It broke my heart at times, but that pain held all his truth and emotion; it makes the reader understand the depth of his love, believe in love at first sight, fate and destiny, but most of all, that soulmates do exist - just keep looking until you find yours.
If I haven't been clear enough yet, Never Have I Ever was a pure pleasure to read. I loved every minute, even when those minutes were filled with angst and suspense. From their second first glance to all the other meaningful gazes to come, their sizzling chemistry was figuratively a sight to behold. The tension from each new discovery of those forgotten moments had me holding my breath and brought excitement to my heart, EVERY TIME.
Following the scenic route of Laird and Poppy's journey back to each other kept me flipping through the pages, staying up late to read, yet never wanting it to end. Knowing how all the hints of the past were windows to the truth and never knowing which one would open the void a little more brought extra excitement to the story. We never knew when or what would trigger the memories. And in the end, everything is how it was supposed to be.
Thank you Suzie for giving Poppy the love she deserved. You captured my heart with these two. I'm so happy that you like to link your stories together and I hope this is not the end for Poppy and Laird. I hope we see them again. Keep writing these stories that open my heart to all that love can be. It's inspirational, and I love how your stories make smile, make me laugh, and how my heart beats faster with the connections you create in your characters. I can't wait for more.
*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*
One weekend three years ago was long enough to change the lives of Private Chef Poppy Stanfield and Musician Laird Faris. Poppy was with her best friend Marina Westford and Marina’s boyfriend Cash Warren after his F1 Race watching a local group called Faris Wheel. She couldn’t keep her eyes off the guitarist (I mean, who could really blame her… ). He couldn’t keep his eyes off her either.
It was love at first sight for Laird Faris. They spent the rest of the weekend together, got matching tattoos that meant something only to the two of them, and shut the rest of the world out. On their last night together, Laird made Poppy an offer to join him for the rest of the tour. All she had to do was meet him at the Magnolia Café at 7 o’clock the next morning. But Poppy never showed.
Fast forward three years and Laird is still in a funk. Nothing much interests him anymore. He’s not writing new music and no woman compares to Poppy. His sister, who is also his bandmate, sends him to their family cabin to get away for a week, try to clear his head of all things Poppy and get back to who he was before that fateful weekend. She even booked him a private chef.
Not really wanting to go, but also not liking who he has become, Laird heads to the cabin. And once again, his world tilts on its axis. Who does he find in his kitchen not long after he arrives but Poppy, who has absolutely no idea who Laird is. The reason that Poppy never showed up to the café is because she got into a horrific accident that caused her to have amnesia and so far, little things have come back, but absolutely nothing to do with that weekend and the man standing in front of her.
“She can’t remember. I can’t forget.”
Laird doesn’t know what to make of this Poppy. She still looks and acts like the woman he fell in love with all those years ago but looks at Laird like he’s a stranger. Poppy is immediately attracted to Laird, but she’s there to do a job, nothing more. Laird’s angry with the circumstances but has to make the best of them once they are snowed in with no hope of getting out for a couple of days.
Laird is trying really hard not to tell Poppy their truth, because he doesn’t want to cause her any more distress. Yet, their attraction grows between them, and their chemistry is ridiculous. But what’s going to happen when Poppy’s memories of that weekend come back to her? Will she be able to trust Laird to make new memories when he was withholding their past from her? Or can they just make their own future if her memories don’t resurface?
I’m not usually one to seek out musician heroes in the books that I read, even though I’ve read plenty. I was in love with one in my former life and he pretty much shattered my heart into a million pieces. But Laird made me hear his music (and intentions) through his actions and affection for Poppy. We should all be so lucky to have a Laird in our lives.
