For as long as I can remember, Lachlan West has been my brother’s best friend and the love of my life. Trouble is, he kissed me four years ago and then never spoke to me again.
I was doing great pretending he doesn’t exist until I was assigned to write an article about former college athletes, and I learn that the sexy single dad is my first interview.
Determined to wow my editor with an amazing sportsball piece—(have I mentioned I know nothing about sports?)—I head to Ember Falls, ready to face my fears—and the man I love.
The grumpy quarterback turned fireman wants nothing to do with me or my article. Yet, somehow I persuade him to let me follow him around for a few weeks, and even if he said yes just to get rid of me, I’ll take it.
But the longer I stay in his small town, the more complicated our story gets. The boundaries we set fall to the ground—along with our clothes.
He holds me like I matter, touches me like I’m cherished and kisses me like he loves me.
We both know I have to leave Ember Falls, and he’ll never follow—I only wish I could write a different ending to our story.
Corinne Michaels is a New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of romance novels. Her stories are chock full of emotion, humor, and unrelenting love, and she enjoys putting her characters through intense heartbreak before finding a way to heal them through their struggles.
Corinne is a former Navy wife and happily married to the man of her dreams. She began her writing career after spending months away from her husband while he was deployed—reading and writing were her escapes from the loneliness. Corinne now lives in Virginia with her husband and is the emotional, witty, sarcastic, and fun-loving mom of two beautiful children.
The title and the cover got me to pick it up, but the story was a mess.
I did not like the FMC Ainsley at all. She was so annoying and immature. Did the author also have to make her the stereotypical woman who can’t understand a single thing about sports? I questioned her intelligence a lot throughout this book. As for the MMC, he was just so bland. He’s a single dad and yet we barely ever see his daughter.
The romance was also lacklustre and underdeveloped. The author never gives an explanation for why these two like each other. They simply just do. They supposedly have all this history together but it really doesn’t show. There is no tension or angst between Ainsley and Lachlan. And don’t even get me started on the miscommunication.
Overall, this did not work for me at all. It was my first book by the author, but not sure I would read another.
— The heroine has been in love with the hero for a long time (he is her brother’s bff) — They kissed 4 years ago and then he stopped talking to her (no info why) — They were separated for 4 years (They are not intimate or together yet, they just had a kiss) — A single dad (one of the readers said that he had a child before separation and his child was 2 yr at that time) — The h “thankfully” wasn’t celibate during separation — Pls don't make this another “It’s always been you” this crap isn't cool anymore.
All Too Well was a great start to Corinne Michaels ‘Ember Falls’ series. I’m a sucker for a single-dad romance and throw-in brother’s best friend, it was great!
Lachlan is a firefighter and a single dad, and his best friend’s little sister just showed up in his small town. Ainsley is a journalist and is writing a story about Lachlan. She hadn’t seen him in years, and I loved watching them get together.
This book was fun and romantic, and I adored Lachlan’s daughter, Rose, as well as the couple. Lachlan’s teammates were great, and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!
This is the second book I have read by Corinne and I enjoyed it! It was a nice intro to a new world and of course all of the new characters that will be our MCs for the future books. In this one we meet Lachlan and Ainsley. I am a SUCKER for brother's BF and this one hit for me. It was a different spin on this trope though. Normally there is one person who has been crushing on the other for a bit and it has gone unnoticed until suddenly it is noticed. This one was more like they had both been crushing on each other for a while and acted on their feelings at the "wrong" time and so nothing came of it. There is usually blood out from the brother and again this was different- Caspian was all in on them. I do have to admit that I found myself thinking this was a TAD bit too wholesome for me. I can't put my finger on what it was missing for me, but there was something missing. With that being said though I did enjoy the story. I liked the two main characters. They didn't have electric chemistry, but they had chemistry and Lachlan, my MAN, had a dirty mouth that I truly enjoyed LOL. I found myself smiling for most of this book. I wanted them to work and to help each other through their traumas and past things they had not dealt with. Lachlan was kind of a grump and seeing him kind of let go around Ainsley was wonderful.
Ainsley has found herself going back to a place that she hasn't been in years. She is headed to Ember Falls to do a story on her brother's BF AKA Lachlan West AKA the man who she has been crushing on since forever AKA the man she ran away from 4 years ago without a word since. Now he has become the fire chief for the town and Ainsley's paper wants her to do an article on him. The problem- he doesn't like talking about himself. And again she hasn't spoken with him in 4 years. So imagine her surprise when she is working up the courage to go and find him and he is at her door. Looking as good as ever. At least the intro part is over right?? Now she has to convince him to talk with her. Of course he says no and so she starts kind of following him and picking up bread crumbs that he leaves for her. For example him and his buddies are part of a frisbee golf league for college kids. Most of the guys that are on his team were bound for glory in the NFL and life happened to where that didn't happen. Ainsley wants to know why. The more Lachlan resists her, the more things start to change with them. She finds herself now living with him and his daughter Rose. She finds herself wanting to explore this thing between them like they almost did all those years ago. She finds herself going for it. So they decide they will do it. They will be together for however long Ainsley is there but when she leaves it's done. They have different lives. They couldn't make it work. Or could they? Lachlan keeps pushing her away when all Ainsley wants to do is stay with him and she is going to prove it. But will he believe her?
Lachlan has given up on relationships. He only has time for his daughter. The woman he loves left him without a trace 4 years ago after tragedy struck and moves were made at the wrong time. He hasn't talked to Ainsley since then. He only knows what is going on in her life because of her brother. But then she is back in town. She is actually here, and all of the walls that Lachlan thought he had built around his heart to protect him are crumbling. He finds himself asking her to move in with him when her living situation changes. He finds himself kissing her and not regretting it. He finds himself wanting more. But no one in his life has ever chosen him. So why would she be any different? When the story is done she is going to go back home and forget about them like she did before. At least that's what Lachlan keeps telling himself. Because he can't hope. He has too much to lose with her.
I thought the passing of a parent and all that entails were handled very delicately in the best way. I really liked how Corinne wove the story between Lachlan and his dad and how much perspective and time can change things. Especially things involving grief. There was a lot of healing in this book which is always so wonderful to witness. I am looking forward to continuing this series with the rest of the frisbee golf team with Miles the school principal being our next MMC.
Thank you to Valentine PR and Corinne for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! Hope you enjoy :)
"One day I hope you’re willing to take your own advice and fight for what you want." All Too Well is a it’s-always-been-you, mutual-pining small-town romance that will steal your heart. Believe it or not, this was my first Corinne Michaels book. And I think I’m in love with her writing style and her voice—OK, and Ainsley and Lachlan and Ember Falls as a whole.
"Lachlan West is that guy who I was never allowed to like but did anyway, and I am way too weak when it comes to him." It’s hard not to like Lachlan when all he does is prioritize his little girl in everything. I mean, my heart! And it gets harder when you see how long and how much he’s been pining for Ainsley. The one who got away.
"Ainsley has been that girl. The one that I knew would destroy my entire life and I wouldn’t even care." Although I didn’t like her running away, I have to like Ainsley for pursuing her dreams. For daring to try. And I also have to like her for the huge heart she has and for not giving up on people when that would be the easy way.
"You want me?" "Every fucking minute, and I hate myself for it." Ainsley’s older brother is Lach’s best friend, and the three of them were joined at the hip when they were kids. Even if Ains was 4 years younger, they were best friends. Too bad Ainsley started seeing Lach as a lot more than a friend without realizing that, well, so did he. In a moment of weakness, with emotions running wild, something happens between them. And he told her it was a mistake. So she left.
"You think about me a lot, huh?" "No." I think about her all the damn time. Four years later, Ainsley, who is now a reporter, comes to Ember Falls to do a story on a hero who rescued a girl from the flames—Fire Chief Lachlan. But turns out he’s not really into the whole fame thing. And he doesn’t really want her that close either, but it’s not due to lack of feelings. If anything, he wants her way too much and he doesn’t quite know what to do with it.
"One day we’re going to have to figure this out and stop dancing around what we feel," "Just not today, it seems." "No, because our dance ended before it began." It gets worse! With the cabin she rented being a fire hazard, Lach has to take her in. So she’s suddenly there in his space, getting close with both him and his daughter. Getting close to the life he has in this small town and to his friends too. Especially since the story she was supposed to write about him takes a turn into sports. Specifically, Ultimate Frisbee, which he plays with his three best friends.
"Then I really have to find something to wow you." "Ainsley, you’ve been doing that your whole life." I loved seeing the girl who knows nothing about sports going to Ultimate Frisbee matches. I loved her going to Rose’s, Lach’s daughter’s, cheer competitions. I loved how well she fit into Lachlan’s life. And even though all his walls were up, she keeps coming back.
"You. You are my biggest weakness, and it’s why I tried so hard to shut you out of my fucking world." There are small stolen moments between them. You can see how hard this is for Lachlan… until they finally let go. And I mean finally, because these two are clearly made for each other and you can’t tell me otherwise. And them finally starting to enjoy each other and what it could be—even if it has a deadline because Ainsley is bound to go back to NYC—warmed my heart.
"I’ll protect you." "You stole my line." "You stole my heart, so it’s only fair." There’s a past Lachlan needs to deal with. It’s family-related, but the way Ainsley supports him throughout everything speaks volumes about the kind of relationship they have. I loved how she pushed him to do something, to heal, so he could be able to open himself to what they’re feeling and to being happy.
"I’m coming back to you. I chose you. You’ve always said that no one ever chose you, well, I’m going to show that changed the day you let me fall in love with you." When her time in Ember Falls comes to an end, what will happen? Ah, that was my favorite thing. Because Ainsley takes control of the situation and she’s not about to allow him to retreat into what he thinks he deserves anymore. He's hers, she's his, and she's fighting for it. Good for her.
Also, thank you, Corinne, for not bringing around the overbearing big brother routine. And, to be honest, I loved her brother Caspian and I hope to see more of him!
"You’re my something to look forward to, Ainsley." "And you’re mine." Life’s too short to live with regrets, what-ifs, and what-could-have-beens. And yeah, taking a chance on love sometimes leads to heartache, but others… It gets you the one you should have always been with.
This was a great start to a new series and I can't wait to get to know all the inhabitants of Ember Falls. I love a small town, single dad romance. Add in a Brother's Best Friend and I am raring to go!
Lachlan was a great dad and a great fire chief. I loved his crew of firefighters and friends. He was just a genuine great guy and a hero. He hasn't had things easy in life and his relationship with his father is not good. My heart really ached for him. I loved seeing his growth in that area.
Ainsley is just trying to do her job and write a great article that will boost her position at her job. She really would rather avoided Lachlan and the feelings she's been trying to repress for years. But when she is forced to live with him after a fire scare in rental... she really has no hope but to fall for him again.
They eventually fall into a Friends with Benefits for the duration of her stay in Ember Falls. But with their history and connection... that's a hopeless endeavour from the start.
I loved all the quiet moments between them and seeing how well they know each other. There were some truly beautiful moments and I was hooked on their romance right away. I can't wait for more in this series.
I listened to an ALC narrated by Connor Crais & Vanessa Edwin, who did a wonderful job. They really swept me away in the story.
4.5 Stars 3 on the spice scale
*Thank you to the author for an ALC of this title.*
I love a new small town romance, but unfortunately this one just wasn't for me. The heroine wants to be taken seriously as a journalist, and takes a story interviewing her brother's best friend, who she used to be in love with, because he's a firefighter and saved people recently. She has to go back to her small town and interview him and try to write an interesting piece. I was enjoying the story when it started, but there wasn't anything about the hero and heroine that had me dying for them to be together. The journalist storyline was fine, but I was more just passively reading this story without getting invested in anything or anyone. I would have loved a little more substance with the daughter as well, since the hero is a single dad, because I feel like we didn't really get to know her as strongly as a character, which is what I'm always looking for in a single dad romance.
I wish I had loved this one more, but it was a miss for me.
All Too Well is a fun and enjoyable small town romance novel. We follow Ainsley and Lachlan who have loved each other ever since their teen years. They had one moment together. And even though Lachlan was drunk he remembers every second of it. But he did blurt out some painful things and that makes Ainsley run away as fast as they can.
Fast forward 4 years. Ainsley is working at a paper and she is dying to write important and meaningful articles. But time and time again she gets the fashion and simple things to write about. During a meeting she gets assigned a sporting article about Lachlan West. She sputters and tries to get something else. But off she goes to Ember Falls to interview him and follow him around for a few weeks. And that is what this story is about.
It's about two people who have loved each other forever. And are a bit shy to act upon it at first. It's a story about how you were raised impacts your day to day life still. It's about finding out your place in someone else's life. While respecting the dreams and aspirations of the other one.
It's a beautiful and gentle story. Which I thoroughly enjoyed.
But I did miss a little bit of explosive chemistry. I didn't feel their love in my soul or in my bones. I wish Lachlan's daughter had a bigger part in the book. And I wish Ainsley and Rose become close on page instead of off page. I just missed a little bit of magic.
The Admiral's story line was by far my favorite. I love his character arc and his character growth. That was top notch.
All in all a fantastic book! 3.75/4 huge stars from me for this beauty of a book.
Mother Corinne wrote my name into this book 😀 idk what to do with my life now. I have peaked. There’s no where for me to go 🫠
Okay but in all seriousness, I am SO in love with Ainsley and Lachlan. If you read the Whitlock Family series and loved Tempting Promises, you will absolutely love this one. There’s banter, quick wittiness, pining covered by pretend hate, it’s amazing.. I loved every single second.
So I’m officially in my firefighter era if anyone needs me 🔥 Lachlan coming to her rescue and making sure she’s okay?!?!? I was sweating. It’s the small town version of who hurt you and you can’t change my mind on this. Not only do we have a hella hot firefighter, BUT A SINGLE DAD? Sold. 💳
Corinne will always get me with my emotions… look. I get it. I’m a crier, but I SWEAR! Even when this woman isn’t in her “rip your heart out” era, she still manages to tug on your heart strings a bit. Lachlan’s relationship with his father is rough and had me tearing up through the whole book, but the end really had me in a puddle. 😭
Also apparently hockey is out and ultimate frisbee is in 🤣 I’m so here for it. Ex athletes turned ultimate frisbee team??? I’m so here for it. I was cracking up… “ex heisman trophy winner turned..frisbee..player?” 🤣🤣 golden. Perfection.

“Like I wouldn’t come to make sure you weren’t hurt. I’d have run through the burning house to get to you.”
After my freak-out this morning, which led me incredibly close to running away, changing my name, and never returning to my current life, I got a grip and came back—with cake pops.
“Let’s see if you’re sweeter after all those strawberries.”
“The legacy is in the little moments, not the big things.”
You’ll love this one if you like ✨ brothers best friend ✨ second chance ✨ small town ✨ boy next door ✨ single dad ✨ firefighter ✨ grumpy x sunshine
unfortunately for me this fell very flat after starting off pretty promising.
lach and ainsley felt extremely forced to me and i just am still very confused by the 4 year silence to picking up like nothing ever happened scenario going on in this. i get that they have loved each other for a big chunk of their lives but the fact that there is zero making either of them grovel (bc they are both in the wrong, her more than him imho) for the fact he embarrassed her so badly she ran away for 4 years and ghosted him???? to then just straight insta love (while still pretending that its not painfully obvious they both love each other)…. kind of wild to me lol.
i think in all honesty i may just not be the right target audience for corinne’s books because a lot of what im feeling and am conflicted with while reading this is the exact same stuff i felt reading “return to us” which is the only other book of hers ive done.
i really wanted to love this but alas i feel like theres just no strong direction this book is supposed to be taking, i have felt no connection to either main characters and i dont really think either of them truly have a connection themselves lol…. side characters were all great but honestly thats pretty much the only redeeming quality of this book to me.
i dont really know what id like to rate this book, so that will come at a later date but take this review with a grain of salt bc as i said i just dont think im the right target audience for this authors books.
3.5 stars. All Too Well is book 1 in the Ember Falls series and the cover is just so pretty! This is a small town, brother’s best friend, single dad, grumpy x sunshine, “it’s always been you” romance.
Ainsley and Lachlan have been in one another’s lives for years. He was her brother’s best friend and they shared a moment in the past that neither has forgotten about. Now they’re back in each other’s lives and have an actual chance at more. They both had a lot going on with their lives: their fathers were both in the military and that shaped a lot of their choices and lives, his relationship with his father has been complicated/strained since the passing of his mother, he stepped away from his football career to become a firefighter and raise his daughter Rose.
This is the start of a new small town series and I’m excited to see where the series goes. This story and couple I didn’t connect to quite as much as I thought I would. But if you want that “angsty, unrequited love, they’re finally getting their chance in years” type of book…this is it. The audiobook is narrated by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin, always sooo good, and the audio was honestly the perfect way to consume this book! Such a stunning cover!
I received an ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
After the next step mom heroine who was celibate for a whole fucking decade because she couldn't get over a one week fling while he not only got over her, but got married and had a kid with another women my expectations for this book are in hell
What in the world happened to the spark and connection and emotion found in a Corinne Michaels book? I really like a lot of this author’s work and was so excited to read this first book in her new series but wow, is it ever a dud.
This book is about a barely out of college woman holding on to an unrequited love with the world’s most bland man based on a single kiss years earlier, and who writes a human interest story on grown men (thejr careers peaked in college sports) playing in an ULTIMATE FRISBEE league that is SO evocative the owner literally begs her to continue working with the paper forever under any means because shocker- there’s internet everywhere and she can work remotely (hence removing the entire reason for their not being together). And she is willing to give it all up for the dude who desperately needs therapy for abandonment issues but hey, it’s ok because at the last minute he decides not to be a dick after all and confess his love. Yay!
There are a LOT of tropes here competing. Single dad. Firefighter/hero. Former athlete. Childhood friends to lovers. Frenemies to lovers. Small town. Brother’s best friend. These two are single and they definitely like each other but for some inexplicable reason have declared they have to fight their feelings because…why? The entire basis of the plot is wishy washy. Very early on in the book I was disappointed by how bland it was. I don’t often give poor reviews but this was very surprising considering I usually really enjoy Corinne Michaels books. I’m hoping it was a fluke.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my gosh I Loved it!!!!!!!!! Brother’s best friend is just such a fave trope of mine ugh it gets me every time!!
Ansley has been in love with her brother’s best friend, Lachlan, for years, but she had no idea he felt the same way. After a (half) drunken kiss between the two, feelings are left behind between and Ansley doesn’t look back. But 4 years go by and Ansley is forced to head back to her small town to interview the star of her fantasy’s for an article!! Old feelings come back & with a force stronger than ever!
But omg the chemistry between Ansley & Lachlan is so good and their banter had me giggling & kicking my feet!! I love them together & I really love a man who is HEAD OVER HEELS!!! Rose is so cute! The guy group is fantastic & they made me so happy. Overall I just had the best freaking time and yall need to read this one!

“Sometimes the things that scare me the most are the things I really want.”
Four years ago, I was rejected by my brother’s best friend, and I walked away, never looking back. Now, working as a journalist in the big city, I’ve been assigned to write an article on a small-town firefighter who recently saved a girl from a fire. I never thought I’d be back in my hometown, face to face with the man who broke my heart.
I loved this read. You could feel the energy between Ainsley and Lachlan. Even though she never looked back, now being forced to talk about what happened between them in the past was something I really enjoyed. The tension and chemistry, with some great banter thrown in, was perfect. I never thought I would read about frisbee being a sport, but it was quirky and fun. Also, Lachlan’s daughter, Rose, is adorable. I think this is a feel-good, easy, but also heartfelt read. I’m excited to read the rest of the series. Connor and Vanessa did a great job with the narration of these characters—I highly recommend it.

I am obsessed with Corinne Michaels' writing style! She has a way with words that hits me straight in the feels. I'm guaranteed to cry every time I pick up one of her books & All Too Well was no exception! Ainsley & Lachlan's history runs so deep and it seriously increases the tension when they're around each other for the first time in four years. I couldn't get over how adorable his daughter was, especially when she was around Ainsley & was so excited to do all the things with her. I enjoyed finding all the little Taylor Swift references throughout the book.
This book also hit me hard in the feels when Lachlan was describing & experiencing the grief from losing his mother. It hit so close to home for me & I could physically feel the grief he was experiencing in that moment. Approach with a little caution if death of a parent is a touchy subject for you.
The audiobook is narrated by Vanessa Edwin & Connor Crais. Both narrators did an incredible job with this story & it made all the events feel that much more real! They truly made me feel all the emotions the characters were experiencing. I highly recommend picking up the audio for this book.
Thank you to Corinne Michaels & Must Love Audio for sending me an early audio copy!
it was very cute story, love the small town second chance lover Ainsley MacKinley has crushed on her brother’s best friend Lachlan West forever. She hasn’t seen him in four years so when she is assigned to interview the hero firefighter she both happy and nervous. Lachlan is a former football player turned firefighter with a little girl named Rose.

✨️ From the first chapter, I knew it was going to make an impact on me. The connection that these two had was so clear. The tension between them was 🥵🥵. You get some tension, chemistry, banter, all those wonderful things, but I also teared up a few times. The story was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I'm a total sucker for a single dad, and Lachlan's daughter, Rose, was so freaking cute and stole my heart. This was also my first firefighter romance, and I gotta say, I need more!
Thank you, Corinne and Valentine PR, for allowing me to read and review. I loved it!
This was very cute and wholesome. Great for small town romance lovers and second chance stories. And if you love a single dad brothers best friend then you are going to love Lachlan. Great start to a new series.
I think im in a reading slump. Either that or im just very tired of the clichés. The issue with second chance romances is they are all the SAME. Its like a repeat everytime and ok I dont mind reading it as long as I actually feel something between the characters. I have more chemistry with cheese than what these two mc's had with each other and im lactose intolerant. p.s I also wish they would tell you in the blurb if it has a "misunderstanding" trope so I could run as far away from the book as possible
I sat down intending to read just a chapter or two, and next thing I knew, I’d devoured the entire book in one sitting. Corinne Michaels absolutely nailed it with All Too Well!
This story is everything I love about romance, perfectly wrapped in three of my favorite tropes: • Brother’s Best Friend • Single Dad • Small Town Romance
Ainsley has always carried a torch for Lachlan, her brother’s best friend, despite the heartbreak of a single kiss that ended with him calling it a mistake. Four years later, fate intervenes when her job as a journalist leads her to Ember Falls to interview none other than Lachlan. What starts as uncertainty quickly transforms into a journey that changes both of their lives.
Lachlan, the ultimate selfless single dad, is devoted to his daughter Rosie and has long suppressed his feelings for Ainsley. When she reenters his life, all those buried emotions resurface, forcing him to confront his past and his heart.
This is more than just a love story—it’s about growth, forgiveness, and learning to open your heart to the possibilities of happiness. The chemistry between Ainsley and Lachlan is sizzling, with just the right amount of spice to leave you blushing! 😊
If you’re a fan of small-town romances with heart, depth, and a dash of steam, All Too Well is a must-read. It’s an unforgettable story that will make you believe in second chances and happily ever afters.
If Corinne Michaels writes it, I’m going to read it!
Welcome to EMBER FALLS!
I’m loving the vibes of this new series and Lachlan and Ainsley are getting us started off right with ALL TOO WELL! 🩷
I mean who can resist a brother’s best friend who is also a single dad, who is also a heroic firefighter, who also has been in love with the girl forever… not me that’s for sure.
This one was sweet and swoony and I have to say that Lachlan’s daughter Rose stole the shoe. I loved how devoted he was as a dad, how much Ainsley fit in with them and just how much these three belonged together.
This one had some angst and some pining but I loved how everything came back to Lachlan and Ainsley always being the ones for each other! And the quirky small town and their magical waterfall, well I’m here for it.
I also have to say I was not prepared for Ultimate Frisbee to be a thing that I was invested in but here we are!
This one is so good, the vibes are on point and everything about this makes me want more… 🩷🩷
🩷 Small Town 🩷 It’s Always been you 🩷 Brother’s Best Friend 🩷 Single Dad 🩷 Fire Fighter x Journalist 🩷 Sportsball (Ainsley’s version) 🩷 Right Person Wrong Time
I love me a small town single dad romance! 💘 This is my 3rd Corrine Michaels book I read and my favorite of them all so far. Ainsley and Lachlan’s relationship was built from years of longing, pining, and being apart. You know what they say about right person, wrong time.
Tropes/ single dad, small town, small age gap, brothers best friend
Corinne has quickly become an auto buy author for me! Her books have such a good mix of plot, romance, spice, & angst… I just eat the stories up every time.
Lachlan & Ansley were everything!!! I’m such a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope (it’s elite and you can’t convince me otherwise). I actually can’t wait to go back & listen to this one on audio!
The waterfall scene? Yeah that about did me in 🫠😮💨🥵
I’ve read nearly all Corrine’s books and loved them..until now. Hurts my heart to say but I just do not get this book at all. The characters endlessly frustrate me. They are apparently completely in love with one another and are each other’s great love but he refuses to be with her for a reason that is not explained until the end for the book and she is completely understanding of this choice ….why?
FMC is a journalist so meant to deal in facts and a need to understand how things work, yet cannot for the life of her even remember the name of sports. She seemed juvenile at times….starts with her getting baited in to taking the story.
MMC has a fear of people leaving him so refuses to even entertain the idea of being with the girl he’s apparently loved all his life and would do anything for ..except of course be with her. And he became a firefighter for an unknown reason(simply needed a job?) even though he’s a single father and could be killed at any time, leaving his daughter alone….
There seems to be lots of cliches thrown in for the sake of it. Hero/Firefighter, brothers best friend, girl next door, trauma past, small town and old reliable F*ck it moment. For me, they just do not tie together.
4.25⭐️ this was my first Corinne Michael’s book and it did not disappoint! I can’t wait for the rest of the series and to read more of Corinne’s backlist!
What to expect -single dad -firefighter mmc -brothers best friend -small town -forced proximity -grumpy x sunshine -unrequited love
This was such a great first book to a new series. The entire story was so sweet and wholesome! It truly felt like a warm hug. I adored all the characters! Lachlan and Ainsley felt like true soulmates with a right person, wrong time vibes going on.
Lachlan is a single dad who has made countless sacrifices for his daughter. He has put all his wants, needs and dreams on the back burner in hopes of doing what is best for Rose. So rather than a career in the NFL, he leaves football, moves to a small town and becomes a firefighter. Lachlan is a selfless and genuine hero. He does have some struggles of his own and seeing his growth was everything.
Ainsley is on the grind and trying to make it in her career as a journalist. She has avoided all of her feelings toward Lachlan and they haven’t seen or spoke to each other for four years. That’s until her job sends her to Ember Falls to do a story on him. I loved seeing not only Ainsley grow individually, but also seeing her grow her relationship with both Lachlan and Rose.
This whole book kind of felt like the “quiet love” is sometimes the loudest. There were so many tender moments that warm your heart. Their past and romance hooked me from the very beginning. I’m also really looking forward to the next books in the series! Corinne set them up so well and I’m ready for them!
Thank you so much to Corinne and her team and Valentine PR for an eARC of All Too Well!
