One year ago Isabella Mitchell moved to Kentucky to live with her cousin Noah. Like her mother at her age, Isabella is drawn to men she shouldn’t be with. When she travels back to North Carolina to see her parents, she and her ex have a one-night stand. She knows they are through, but sometimes what happens in the bedroom doesn’t always stay in the bedroom.
Eight weeks later Isabella finds out she’s pregnant. She can’t tell anyone, because she knows how upset they’ll be. While struggling with decisions, Isabella catches the attention of the mysterious Rusty Tillman, a ranch hand for the Mitchell family. He’s handsome, hardworking, and ten years older. When Isabella refuses him, he takes it upon himself to claim the child as his own. Since she doesn’t want the family knowing the real father she goes along with the lie. The only problem is that Rusty wants more.
Can Isabella open her heart to a new love, or will she go back to the only man she’s ever loved?

Sometimes, as a reader, I continue with a series or a spin off of a series because I loved the previous characters so much and harbor the hope that future stories will have the same magic as the first ones.
Of course I know that ain't always so...
Isabella presented a plot where it was like mother-like daughter. This happened a little with Noah, but it was almost identical with Isabella, so that I was reluctant to read it.
In the end, nothing really popped from this Mitchell/Healy story, except the awesome way Izzy and her father continued their unique relationship, and the fact that the Mitchells/Healys are growing.
From the first series, I am still interested in seeing what unfolds in the "next" generations. That doesn't mean I won't rate downwards when I feel the current installment of the series to be a blah disappointment.
0.0% Going to start this later - really nervous as while I enjoyed the last book I never loved it Although I enjoy Jennifer Foors book they never totally capture me so I never read them back to back but I really wanna get up to date with this series as Ive made a rule to myself that I need to get up to date before I start a new series :)
10% While everyone in my life called me Isabella, Bella, or Bells, he’d called me Izzy. He always had and he always would. It was just something that made our bond so special. I love that bella and Ty are still so close :D
14% Did he know how dark it was in these parts? Yh I didn't like Tate before but now I really really don't like him! -_-
18% In all of the years that my brothers had annoyed me, I’d finally gotten to a point where I could appreciate that I had them. They’d saved my butt, and comforted me when I needed it. If there was some way to tell my parents how they’d come to my rescue, I would have done it. I love the relationship these three have :) they bicker like all siblings but they have each other's backs :D
22% After all, I wasn’t just running from my old life, I was running from everyone that had ever known the man I used to be. ?! Oh I'm SOOO curious
24% If she only knew that I longed for the company of a beautiful woman. I just knew that I didn’t deserve it. This was my punishment for my past. There was no way to rectify what had been done, therefore I refused to give myself hope. What is his past?!?! IM SO CURIOUS! I NEED TO KNOW!
26% Personal reasons. For the most part it’s because I grew up around alcoholics.” Oh? I'm so curious about rusty?! I definitely enjoying this more than noah :)
30% It still gave me chills when he called me that. I love that he calls her that and she hasn't told him not too! :D
34% this man was clearly in so much pain that he’d tried to bury it, by running away Oh rusty! :'(
37% I went through the motions, with no real life coming out of me. For the most part I was dead inside. How anyone expected me to pick up those pieces and move forward was beyond my reasoning. They obviously had no idea what it was like to wake up one day and be without air. Oh poor rusty! :'(
38% but I also know that I’d be lying if I tried to deny it. I love that he just told her the truth instead of tying to deny it! :D
40% I had to look away when the heat of his words overwhelmed me. I could feel my heartbeat increasing, and knew that my reaction was only verifying what I could already feel was happening between us. I'm loving these two together - it was definitely building before but now that he's revealed his past it's definitely sped up their relationship! They're connected on a different level if that makes sense :D <3
42% My nerves were taking over, and I wasn’t sure whether to stop or push on. Oh rusty! I'm really loving him!

50% There was nothing that could bring me down from this high. Nothing but hearing my cousin’s voice getting closer. Oh shit....
56% My choice was always the right thing to do. I really didn’t have to think much about it at all. The time for being irrational and overthinking my decisions was long gone. If I wanted this second chance at happiness I was going to have to make sacrifices to have it. Oh shit I know what he's gonna do... I'm just really scared about how everyone's gonna react - especially izzy! :/
58% Don’t bother apologizing to me. There’s nothing you can say to give me back my life. Just lose my number. I can’t deal with hearing from you, Bella. No matter how much I cared about you, I can’t bring myself to ever forgive what’s been done. It was bad enough losing you, but her too? Was it really that necessary to destroy me? Yh I hate Tate! He's a dick, I don't even feel sorry for him!
60% I refuse to live my life as someone’s replacement, Rusty Oh izzy! You're not a replacement! Listen to her rusty you know the truth n if you listen to what she's saying you'll know why she's denying it!
61% I watched an upset father begin to get emotional in front of a crowd of people. He sniffled and leaned his face down onto his daughter’s shoulder. My heart broke for the bond that they shared, and I finally realize why she was so afraid. I didn’t know their history, but clearly they were close. Her mother joined in, putting her arms around both of them. I love this family! <3
66% “I don’t care what you say, Iz. I know exactly where you want to be.” You know you love him izzy! Listen to what he's saying to you - he's nothing like Tate izzy!
70% My mother used to tell me that if I loved something I needed to let it go to see if it would come back to me. This was what she meant, and I knew it was going to be difficult. Oh poor rusty :/ I think he's right though he needs to make izzy see that they're worth the risk and that he's not Tate :)
74% This was about the life that I wanted us to have together. It was about being in love with her. Then tell her that! You're both so scared of being each other's consolation prize that you're not seeing what right in front of you! :(
76% I’m ready, Rusty. I’m ready to admit that there’s somethin’ real between us. If that’s really what you want.” Yay! Finally! :D
84% I can’t tell you how good it is to hear the voice of my son again.” Awwwww! I'm glad we get to see rusty reconnect with his parents - I hope we see them meet again!
85% The bottom line was that I knew I couldn’t move forward until I left the past behind. In order to do that I had to face it. With Isabella by my side I was going to do it, because her love was my reason for wanting to live again in the first place. Awww I really love rusty! <3
87% “I thought you were better, son. I thought you’d finally been able to move on, but it’s clear that you haven’t. Why else would you pick a woman that looks just like the wife you lost?” Oh no! Please don't let this set them back! They were finally happy! :(
90% I wanted him to know without a doubt what he wanted before the baby was born. I hate this but at the same time I know izzys right! :(
91% I didn’t have to think about it, because the answer was obvious. “Never.” “There’s your answer. If Rusty had some hidden complex about you becoming his ex wife, he would have slipped by now.” Woo! You show her! Go Ty! <3
94% This secret stays between our immediate family. You don’t need to share it with anyone else.” I love that they know now but that it'll stay between them :) colt and connor and their sides of the family won't know :)
97% In a matter of seconds everything had changed. “He’s having two children at the same time?” She shook her head. “No, Rusty. He’s having one child.” She grabbed my hand and put it on her belly. “This little girl is yours.” Awwww izzy!!! <3 <3
100% I really loved izzy and rusty! I enjoyed this book a lot more than noah and shalans :D 4 stars!
It pains me writing this review as the Mitchell series is an all time favorite of mine and Ty is one of my favorite heroes. Isabella on the other hand... I do not like her one bit. She's so selfish, self centered and just horrible. Rusty deserved so much more and I started disliking him for being such a doormat for that little brat. Tate is displayed as a victim which disgusts me. Of course it's Isabella that thinks of him this way while the rest of the family wants to kill him.
"Isabella" is night and day from Ty and Miranda's story. So far this new Mitchell/Healy series isn't touching the original Mitchell family series one bit for me. I will of course continue on with the series since I do enjoy most Jennifer Foor books, although her latests (last few of the Kin Series included) haven't been at great as her past ones.
Definitely loved this one more then Noah's book. It had the angst. I wanted to cry a lot in this book. The love Rusty had for Iz was something epic!!! Iz finding Rusty when she needed him the most was just perfect. The whole Tate thing was such a big reminder of what all Miranda and Ty went through with Iz when she was little. It was a great story of love and lost. I'm so glad Rusty found Iz I couldn't help but be jealous for Iz and the things she felt about Rustys past hurt! That's always GREAT when you can FEEL everything the characters are feeling. Rusty had me hurting for him as well. Running away from his past like he did is something I could really understand him doing.
1 ⭐- Ugh! Didn't like it - triggers - pet peeve! ==================================== R A N T . . .
Isabela is totally insufferable! How such a nice and supportive family produced a woman full of issues like this is inconceivable. Her ex treated her in a despicable manner and her always excusing him and coming back for more abuse and yet having unprotected sex with a habitual cheater is irresponsibility to the highest degree. What a bitch!
Oh dear. It pains me to write this review, but this was hard to get through...
I wanted to reach through my kindle and strangle Izzy/Bells/Bella/Isabella almost every moment while reading this. I didnt feel like the character was well written to portray what Jennifer Foor was trying to convey in the story. Noah wasnt much better and really pissed me off in this book.
The only saving grace to this story was 2 things: a) Rusty and b) Jake and Jax - Their characters were great to read about!
I am really disappointed, as I really did love this series, but the spinoff has been ROUGH. I think I am done with this family and spin off series after the last 2 books.
I will divide this review in two the grammar and the story. Why? Because that's how I had to read it.
Normally this authors book have one or two grammatical errors that I can get over but this story was full of them. I felt like I needed to give the editor a dictionary or explain that just because that's how it sounds to you, that's not how its written. I love southern accents but that does not mean I want to read a book were every then is written as than making me re-read sentences over to understand what it said and that is on top of all the your/you're issues. There are even WHOLE WORDS use the wrong way. I'm not the queen of grammar but I expect better in a publish book that I'm paying to read. A better editor or a good beta reader would have fix that issue.
Now lets go to the story. The Mitchell series was one I read because most of the characters were likable, the situations were ridiculous but the story line more than made up for it. I say most because I completely dislike Savannah she is a self entitle brat that thinks the world revolves around her and for some reason everybody charters to her every want; other than that I love the characters. Now this spin-off seems to follow the same tract. I was expecting some character growth and original stories for the new generation. Instead I got a slightly alteration of the same. Noah's book already was a case of same issues different character making the old generation of Mitchell look like they forgot about their past. Now Izzy's book is the same thing different name. At the end of "Loving her" we were showed an Izzy that with the love of her dad grew to be an intelligent well love woman. Why are we presented now with an adult women with a case of unhealthy men attachment normally presented in a daddy didn't love me case? This is a generation that come from couples that love each other deeply, that went through hell and back to stay together and that show that love every day. How come their kids don't know how they should act or how a person that love them should treat them? Yes I expect mistakes and struggles but I expected a young woman that respected herself and demanded that respect because her dad show her she deserved it. I couldn't buy her because I love him excuse or the my family wont stand by me mentality. She acted like a brat not a strong woman and to top it off we didn't got more than a glimpse from the awesome father/daughter relationship she have. Rusty was a great character but I really didn't get the big reveal yes is a painful story but nothing that will cause people to fire you or alienate you like he made it seem it will happen. The whole Tate angle of the story was pitiful and laughable doesn't matter the circumstances a cheater is never the victim. The whole story felt like a regurgitation of her mom story, I think fans of this series deserve something original and better edited. Just because we like the books doesn't mean we will be happy with anything that gets throw together.Hopefully the next book gets better or I may just stop reading this series.
I recommended for Mitchell fans others will be just lost in the sauce.
3.5 stars - Love this family. I am really enjoying reading about the kids now that they are grown. So happy that they each have their own book. I loved Ty's and Isabella's relationship in the previous storyline when she was younger. I can't say that I loved Isabella in this story. She came across as so bratty and self centered. I don't remember her that way. The story redeemed itself for me, but it definitely was not my favorite book of the Mitchell/Healy series so far.
There were aspects of Isabella's parents that I liked, but I didn't expect her story to mirror theirs in so many ways. I found the way that Bella acted for the first half of the book to be childish, which annoyed me. I did like that Bella owned up to her actions and tried to help someone else, was so disappointed with how Bella treated Rusty. Bella kept changing her mind I got whiplash from the back and forth.
The whole clan annoyed me too when Bella finally revealed her secret. Instead of being the supportive family all they seemed to do was shout at her, then give Rusty the stink eye. It was only when Bella really made the choice to be with Rusty by protecting her secret that I was finally on her side.
Even with my issues, I like how this one ended, like that Bella is home and the future that she has.
holy crap this was a horrible book. now first off, let me say that I loved the entirety of the original Mitchell series. I have read them repeatedly. I was a bit taken aback when I heard that Ms Foor was writing a storyline for the younger generation of Mitchell's, but I figured I would love them as much as I did the first series. not so much. I barely made it through Noah 's story, and I cannot make it through Isabella's. this book is just junk. Isabella is an indecisive, irritating, pain in the ass. this entire storyline is ridiculous, but the fact she can't freaking make up get mind whether she wants to be with Rusty or not by 80-some percent through the book is just the last nail in the coffin for me. somehow each of these books seem to be getting worse. no thanks, I'm done. it seems that Ms Foor has indeed jumped the shark. adios!
Isabella is the second book in the Mitchell/Healy Family Series. This series are the stories of the children of the Mitchell Family Series (which I enjoyed thoroughly.)
Isabella is the daughter of Ty and Miranda. Isabella finds herself in a situation and runs to her cousins home in Kentucky. Here she meets Rusty, a man with a painful past and seems to be hiding something. Both have secrets, and together they find a second chance at love.
I love both of these series. Isabella I have rated 4 stars, well written as always. Jennifer Foor does not disappoint.
I love this family....but having said that, I'm not Isabella's biggest fan. Indesive and spoiled brat come immediately to mind. I couldn't get over how much her life was mirroring her mother's. I actually wish she had been honest with her parents sooner so they could have helped her put her mind at ease. I liked Rusty, but at one point I wanted to scream "walk away". Best part of the book....the bond between Iz and Ty.
Honestly. I have mixed fellings about this story. As much as I love the Mitchell. booms I don't like reading about the kid's. sex lives so I kind of skip past those parts. Its like I want to see how the kids grow op to have family's of there own but dint need to know the dirty. Give me Colt. Ty. and Conner any day....
OMG this book! So much emotion! I was so upset that Bella went back to her ex-boyfriend when she told her parents she wouldn’t. Then she found out his true self & left for good. She was living in Kentucky to get away from him, when she found out she was pregnant. I was upset at first that “little” Bella was expecting but as the story went on, I thought it was beautiful. It was so much like her mother & father’s story, how someone who was helping out on the Mitchell farm stepped up & announced to the family that it was his baby. Their were many ups & downs between Rusty & Isabella, as both of their pasts kept getting in the way, but it made me smile when they realized they were meant for each other. Rusty will make a great addition to the Mitchell family. He’s dedicated, a hard worker & loves Bella with all his heart. He’ll make a great dad too. Parts of this book brought so many of my own memories back that I teared up a little. Its probably the only book I’ve read that I could feel myself reliving a part of it, because of something in my past. It was also very sweet reading about Tyler doting on his granddaughter, which is still so weird to say because I still picture him raising his own daughter. Lol Just when I think I won’t love the next book as much as the one I just read, I do and it’s an awesome feeling. Can’t wait to read Christian’s story.
I was pulled into this story right from the get go, which is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written. At the same time I had my mini movie playing along in my head. Love it when that happens. Emotions run rife through this book, I went through each and everyone of them along with the characters. I have to admit though, there was a character or two I really wanted to punch, but they redeemed themselves before the end of the book. I might of cried once or twice, so if you are anything like me you might want to make sure you have tissues on hand. There are surprises throughout this story, some you may see coming, where others you won't. Some are large while others are small, some of the surprises may hit you square in the face, where others may pull on your heart strings. But each and everyone of them holds equal importance within the book. I have read this book on more than once and have enjoyed it each and every time, even cried at the same places. I highly recommend this book and this author.
Isabella Mitchell moved to Kentucky to get away from a toxic relationship. She really didn't have anyone to blame besides herself because she kept taking Tate back. A fresh start did her good she thought until one relapse in judgement brought on more stress and heartache.
Rusty was just the farm help...with serious baggage. After loosing his wife and young daughter he decided to move far away to escape the pain and memories. One day he meets firecracker Bella who makes him think he's seeing a ghost. No one knows his past and the burdens he bears.
Striking up a friendship with Bella proves to be no easy feet. But Rusty vows to not let it get him down. The 2 prove it to not be easy but the roller coaster is a fun ride.
This is probably the first time I have ever been undecided on a rating for a Jennifer Foor book. I will say that I LOVED the storyline in this book, but the reason I am in between with a 4.5 and 5 stars is because Isabella and even Noah, kind of irked me in this book. I wanted to smack Isabella around a couple of times. Her wishy washy attitude towards Rusty really started to wear on me. So with that said I didn't feel I could give this a solid 5 stars.
I want to Thank Jennifer Foor again for giving me an ARC of this book. I have to say I was sort of nervous to read this one. When I read the synopsis for Isabella, I honesty thought it was just going to be a retelling of Book 2 in The Mitchell Series (Miranda and Ty's Story), but I was so wrong. Yes the premise is similar to Ty and Miranda's scenario, but Jennifer created a whole different storyline. A lot of that had to do with Rusty. When she created his character she changed the dynamic of the story, because Rusty was a broken man who had something horrific happen to him a couple years ago. My heart broke so many times for him. I have to say that I LOVED Rusty. He was so broken, but still so sweet and loving. I loved watching him grow and open his heart again. It was great to see him get a second chance at happiness. I was a little surprised with the direction Jennifer took Isabella's character. I found that she came off pretty selfish in this book. She was also very indecisive. I guess when I pictured a grown up Isabella, that is not what I pictured. Even though I had these feelings about Isabella, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.
It was great seeing the Mitchell's again. We get to see Noah and Shalan also in this book. I loved that we got to see Tyler and Miranda grown up in this book. I was glad to see that Ty's sense of humor was still intact. I absolutely miss that man :) I do think that Noah's behavior in this book towards Rusty and Isabella was a bit over the top. I understand that he is protective of her and that they are BFF's but I really think Noah needed to let Isabella do things for herself. That's the only way she is going to grow up. I was glad that we got to see how Noah and Shalan were doing!!!
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Mitchell's and Jennifer Foor!! The writing was just as great as all of Jenn's other books. Her stories will have you laughing, smiling, yelling, crying and even blushing. Jenn's books suck you in and make you fell like you are one of the family. She knows how to create a story and characters that are so believable that you feel like you know them personally. I look forward to what Jenn has in store for Christian. (The next book in this series)
Jennifer Foor has really blown us away! What a beautiful, emotional story. It seemed so real, like we were right there with them while there story unfolded.
Isabella and Rusty are two broken people on their own paths of self discovery. When their lives collide they not only end up mending each other's hearts but they both learn to open up to we love again.
Isabella moved back to Kentucky to live with Noah and Shalan after she was left heartbroken by her boyfriend, Tate. Bella and Noah have been more like brother and sister than cousins. He is very protective of her, arguing with him over her ex is making life even harder. She knows Noah is just trying to protect her. Tate has her heart and has for years, getting over him is hard when she is still in love with him. How do you fall out of love with someone who has your heart?
When Isabella meets Rusty her life has been shattered. She not only has a broken heart to deal with, but a life altering decision that sends her in a tail spin. Realising there is more to Rusty then meets the eye she discovers she can sympathise with him. To add to the broken heart, she is fighting an internal struggle with herself, her heart wants one thing, her mind is saying it's a bad idea and her body is making the decisions. Life is kicking her while she is down, but there is light at the end of the tunnel but getting there is never easy.
Rusty is carrying secrets from a life he wants to leave behind him, he's trying to start a new life, a fresh start in Kentucky on The Mitchell Family Ranch. Seeing this tight knit family makes him crave and wonder, will he ever have that? Keeping his secrets is the one thing keeping others at arms length and is holding him back from letting people in and seeing who he really is.
Rusty is a ranch hand, he is mysterious, quiet and has secrets locked away which makes his demeanour come across creepy. Working on the ranch has given him a fresh start in life. Only problem is Isabella reminds him of a life he once had, the one he is trying to forget. There is something else about her, that keeps him wanting to know more...
"She was about to see the real me. She’d know my secrets. She’d know my pain. And she’d know why I had to leave it all behind."
When you least expect it life throws you a lifeline. When you are broken, lost and confused you can be closed off and blind to what's in front of you. Sometimes what you want and need is right there whether you want to admit it or not...
Will these secrets Isabella and Rusty are keeping, stop them from being true to themselves and each other? Or will opening up and confiding in one another lead them to what they both crave and desire?
We are loving this series and can't wait to see who's book is next in the Mitchell Healy series.
Isabella (Mitchell-Healy Series #2) By: Jennifer Foor 4/5 stars
The Mitchell-Healy series, a spin-off to the original Mitchell Series, continues with Isabella’s book. Isabella has a troubled past with her on-again-off-again high school boyfriend, Tate. We got a glimpse into their relationship in book 1, Noah Mitchell. Tate continually cheated on Isabella, treated her like crap, and let his “other woman” assault Isabella and beat the crap out of her. (That was when her cousin Noah had to go pick her up from a fleabag motel and take her back to Kentucky with him.) It would seem as though Isabella has inherited her mother’s bad taste in men, and bad decision-making skills when it came to them as well.
Izzy goes to visit her parents, Ty & Miranda and her brothers, Jake & Jax in North Carolina. While there, Izzy sneaks out and hooks up with Tate. They had been in contact with each other, texting and calling and professing their love for each other. Izzy thought that he had changed, that he had grown up and that he would be ready to be with her and her alone. However, she was so very, very wrong. Months later, she finds out that her one-night stand left her pregnant.
Rusty Tillman is a ranch hand working for Colt & Noah Mitchell and has been for about 2 years. He’s 10 years older than Izzy, but has always seem to had an attraction to her, has always noticed her, watched her from afar and went out of his way in order to see and look at her. Needless to say, this has always seemed more than a little creepy to Izzy.
Rusty has always been very secretive about his past, from which he is running and hasn’t let anyone in to get to know him. No one in Kentucky knows about it, and this has also served as a fresh start for him. Eventually he does let Izzy in, and it is a shocker and will bring a tear to your eye, if not making you cry. This does shed him in a new light to Izzy, and also brings them together in several ways.
After confiding her fears to Rusty, about what her family will think about her being a single mother, especially when they find out who the father is, Rusty steps up and claims the baby as his own. Of course he also did this in part, so that he would be a part of Izzy’s life as well.
*Mild spoilers* I really liked the book, but the only reason I didn’t love it was because of Izzy’s wishy-washiness towards Rusty, and how she continually led him on, gave him mixed signals, beat on his already broken heart, and used him, even though she knew of his past and the immense pain that it caused him. Also, I didn’t get how she could question the love of her family. Yes, I’m sure they would have been disappointed, but I don’t see them disowning her or kicking her out.
I was so ready for Isabella after finishing Noah. I had the pleasure of sitting with Jenn Foor at the Philly signing a few months back and she had given me a quick synopsis of the story so I was dying of anticipation. Basically this:
She did not disappoint. Rusty is swoon worthy to the max. His back story had me in tears and his perseverance and devotion to the woman he loved was enough to make me fall in love with him over and over again.
Isabella on the other hand...she took some time for me to come around to her. Much like her mother- her life choices proved to be not always the greatest but unlike her mother- I found Isabella to be a little bit of a snob.
Now- she does apologize for her behavior so she did win me over but I hated seeing her like that in the first place.
I won't give away a bit of the story line but what I will say is sometimes history repeats itself. But it's not always exactly the same. Isabella's story is heartbreaking because it shouldn't happen but it does. We often see- in real life- women falling for the wrong men.
I will say that I thought the way J4 decided to end the story was interesting. Some people may not agree with it but I think at the end of the day it proves one solid thing. Family is not always a blood thing. Our family can come in many different ways and at the end of the day love is the strongest force.
Now I also know how J4's mind works and I am sure that some of the things that happened in this book will come back one day...And when that day comes- I'll be ready to read the next chapter in their lives.
Until then I have to wait impatiently for the next in this spinoff to the Mitchell series! It'll be like:
Indecisive Izzy.... learns the past has a way of repeating itself...
I'm loving reading about these grown up Mitchell children. Some of the best parts are still Ty and his antics! This book is a great comedic and tragic romance story. Jennifer is really great at making me laugh out loud, but in the next chapter she has me bawling! I love it when books pull emotions from me, it is like I've connected and am part of the book! And now for a bit about the story...
Isabella has decided to leave her dirt bag ex, again - finally. Except there is one problem, Tate has left her with a parting gift. She is torn with what to do when an unexpected person helps her find her way. Her only problem is she doesn't want to trust anyone. She's done that in the past and it never works out. The only man that has never let her down is her father. Can she ever learn to trust again?
Favorite passages: - “Sometimes we need to walk away from what we want. I guess it’s part of life, even though it feels like torture.” - I wanted to know that indecisive woman that spoke her mind, and yet always seemed confused. - “You deserve to feel wanted.” - He smiled and leaned over to kiss my forehead. “You make me want to live again.” - “Whatever. If you need company than get a dog.” - “Now, I don’t need your support, but I sure could use it. You’re treatin’ me like it’s the end of the world, and it’s not. I’m having a baby, not becomin’ a stripper.” - “But then I think about you and remember that even at the worst times somethin’ beautiful can happen.” - “Can’t you understand that when I look at you I see my future?” - “You have my blessing, but just know that if you hurt her in anyway, I’m going to hurt you. That means if you fuck her in the ass, I’m going to fuck you in the ass. Understand?” - “It takes a real man to step up and take responsibility for a child that isn’t his. I mean, guys like that should be considered superheroes, or maybe even Greek Gods.”
Okay...so I typically let errors go and just look past them. However, there were just SOOOO many in Isabella that it was really hard to look past. Part of me hopes that it is just the ARC copy that I received that was riddled with typos, wrong words and grammatical errors. (Not the dialogue...I don't judge dialogue that way simply because it is written the way people speak and in all honesty people do not speak 'properly'.)
Okay...so moving past the errors that were like nails on a chalkboard to me...
The book was pretty good. The story line was fun and interesting and the romance was super sweet...when Isabella wasn't being a total brat about things. Gosh, she was whiney!! I get that she was in a bad situation and didn't know how to deal with it...but that doesn't justify the way she treated poor Rusty! He was just so damn sweet and she was plain out mean to him on several occasions.
Rusty is a sexy gentleman that has had a bad hand dealt his way. Just because he is secretive doesn't give anyone the right to judge him. I'll give you that the reason he was first attracted to Isabella was a bit creepy...but how many times did he need to explain himself to her? How many times did he need to prove himself?
Anyways...the book is really hard to review without spoilers! There isn't a lot I can say about the story that I haven't already. Overall it was decent, not great...but good. Even with all of the errors, I would recommend reading it. It was fun, sweet, emotional and the story was wonderful :) With well developed and realistic characters, Isabella is a book that makes you feel like a part of the story.
If someone sits down with this book and fixes the errors that kept pulling me out, this book would be a definite 4 stars for me!
Isabella is book #2 in The Mitchell/Healy Family Series by Jennifer Foor, this is a spinoff of the bestselling Mitchell Series here’s a link to the reading guide. I love this author and this series so I was super excited to be gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Being completely frank from the moment Isabella was introduced back in the beginning of The Mitchell family series she has always been a bit of a brat!!
She didn’t really get any better with age and in the last Mitchell Book Loving Her I kinda hated her with a passion!
Well now Isabella got her own book, do I still hate her well actually not as much as I did lol!! In this book she is in her early twenties and living in Kentucky with her cousin Noah (LOVE HIM !!) she goes home to visit her family and gets it on with her douche bag ex Tate.
Being completely honest it wasn’t a massive shocker that she ends up pregnant and unfortunately this is just far too similar to Isabella’s mom Miranda’s story.
In steps Rusty and kind of saves the show he’s a real sweetie and he just ignores Izzy when she’s being a bitch. I love him he’s absolutely perfect for her the yin to her yang so to speak. Now he has some issues himself most of which are just sad and then there’s the super, super creepy one!!! I’m not going to tell you what it is but oh yeah it’s creepy!!!
OMG his parent’s house!!!!!!!
I enjoyed this book but for me it lacked the passion and intensity that was in Noah’s book and the Mitchell family books.
This is a sweet love story but not my favourite by this author 3.5 stars.
I love Jennifer’s books! I fell in love with the parent’s books so I had to read the kid’s books. Izzy was always one of my favorites from the Mitchell Series and I couldn’t wait to read her story. This book had my emotions all over the place. One minute I was laughing and the next wiping tears from my eyes.
Isabella is in love with her ex. Even though he completely did her wrong she cannot let those feelings go. I HATED her ex so bad. When Izzy goes home for a visit she runs right back over to him and realizes what a mistake she made. It broke my heart to see Isabella struggling so much. I wanted to scoop her up and give her a hug. Isabella thinks her life is over until she gets to know Rusty.
This book is told through both Isabella and Rusty’s POVs so we already know Rusty isn’t a bad guy. BUT he has to win over Isabella and she doesn’t trust him because he is so secretive. But Rusty has a good reason to protect himself. Once I found out his true story it broke my heart into pieces.
There were times I wanted to crawl through my kindle and smack a few people including Ty, Izzy’s father. If you don’t know Ty you need to know him. This book was emotional at times but it shows the strong bond between family and how important life really is. I fell in love with Izzy and Rusty!!! Can’t wait to continue the other kids stories!
