“Santa be my good little reindeer, darling, and run.”
The pine trees are dusted in sparkling snow, a stark contrast against the pitch-black night drenching the mountainside. Snow swirls around the cabins nestled cozily along a winding, private road, covering everything with its billowy, soft embrace. Each flake concealing my deep, dark holiday tradition.
She was never part of my plan, and yet she has always remained an object of my obsession. A link to my past, the only remaining thread of my humanity. When Hazel’s uncle left her his mountainside vacation home in his will, I knew adding one tiny stipulation would deliver her to my doorstep—and right into my dangerous arms. A weekend alone to establish residency seems like a reasonable request.
Will my sweet temptation become my next victim, or does she have what it takes to love someone like me?
In tapping out at 40%. I didn't think this was going to be the book for me when at 15% he's leaving a gift basket of soap made with his own cum, but by the 40% mark this man has put his cum into so much stuff it's like an unattended 5 year old at a finger painting party.
I'm not even going to blame this on my ambivalence to dark romances. This was just not well written lol
pre read Look- I don’t know what I’m doing here either. Conned into another seasonal book, this time ridiculous smut, through peer pressure BR.
Y’all know I’m a sucker for a stalker! Make him a reclusive billionaire obsessed with Christmas and #swoon!
This was my first Des Sweet book and definitely will not be the last. I enjoyed the gory take on a holiday romance, probably more than I should have! If I’m being honest, I would’ve liked to have seen the ending fleshed out just a bit more. Hazel was just a little too accepting and nonchalant with Kane’s revelations. All in all, however, this read hit all the right spots!
This was all kinds of crazy, id recommend this for the darker romance readers who just want a quick dark & spicy read. It slaps !!
🚩Crazy serial unaliver 🚩Stalker 🥷🏻Masked man ❤️Obsessed MMC 💔Heartbroken lost little FMC ☠️Touch her & 💀
Hazel is running away from her problems, heartbroken and lost she finds comfort in her uncles mountain side mansion which was left to her in his will.
Kane is quite simply an obsessed physcopath. He has wanted Hazel since he first met her as a child and made it his mission to get her. Pulling the strings behind the scenes he finally gets Hazel exactly where he needs her and puts his plans into action.
This guy isn't morally grey, nope he is full on darker than the night sky, dark like the bottom of the ocean...there are "body fluid" cookies and other products for Hazel to use. He wants her bathed in him, literally. Throw in some Molly, a dead deer, a cute dress up some questionable uses for candy canes... And your in for a ride.
A dark and chilling (IYKYK🤣) romance from Des and she hit Kane’s story right on the money. Last year, this was just a short story in an anthology and I was hoping she’d expand it… I’m blown away with just how much she fleshed Hazel and Kane out—if I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was a different story. But I’m not complaining one bit. Hunted for Christmas brings such a thrilling essence to holiday stories, you’ll never read anything like it. Long enough to get all of the nitty gritty details, but you can still read it in one sitting—and I promise you’ll want to! Every girl deserves to be loved by someone the way Kane loves Hazel 😬🫠 What does that say about me? I guess you’ll have to read Hunted for Christmas to find out 😏
“Santa says: Be my good little reindeer, darling, and run.”
This was a bit of a slow burn but once it finally picked up, I was addicted. The candy cane scene with Hazel and Kane... IYKYK. OOOOOOFFF.
Hunted for Christmas follows Hazel as she has recently split up with her ex after having been cheated on. She escapes for the holiday to her uncle's remote cabin for a solo vacay. Kane is the caretaker of many properties nearby including her uncle's cabin. He is hellbent on winning Hazel for himself. The plan he conjured up was WILD as hell and it worked...
If you don't mind a slow burn and love lots of spice then you definitely need to add this one to your Holiday TBR.
Why ⭐️⭐️⭐️? Well grammar and editing issues to the point I was wondering if this was edited. I usually never, if ever, take off stars for grammar issues. But this was truly so bad, that I would have to reread sections because of lack of punctuation or word choices, which took me completely out of the book. I mean, places were missing quotations, Kane turned into Kade, lack of punctuation or inappropriate punctuation, spacing issues, either missing a word or added words and honestly more than what I listed. I think this book would’ve been really good if the errors weren’t such an issue.
The story overall I did enjoy. We have an obsessive MMC, Kane, who is trying to get his childhood crush to fall in love with him. He never forgot her, but she really doesn’t remember him. However, he dedicated his whole life to get her back. So when the opportunity came up that she inherited her uncle’s cabin in Aspen, he told her that she has to stay a week in order to be able to keep the cabin. What she doesn’t know is this was all set up and it didn’t help that she was snowed in, because now she is stuck in the mountains with ‘Santa’.
I am a sucker for unhinged MMC’s and so I loved Kane’s character. His obsession was so over the top that he created and manipulated events all through throughout Hazel’s life. Can’t fault him for his level of dedication. 😅
Hazel wasn’t bad, but sometimes she would be boring. She got more interesting as the book went on, but I also think her character lacked depth as compared to Kane.
This book is a novella, so I did expect some things to be rushed. But I would say the ending was a little too rushed, and it seemed like the story was almost just shut off.
I don’t think this is a bad Christmas book by any means for the dark romance girlies, but if you are someone who gets irritated by grammatical and editing issues, you are going to want to skip this book.

Who turned the lights out on this dark romance book!? Oh. My. Lanta! 😈😱
Kane. Kane. Kane. Me oh my. Such an obsessive, unhinged man. No complaints! None whatsoever. His obsession is true and loving even though it's a bit too much. In a good way. Meeting as young children and then finally getting back into the others lives was perfect!
I'm such a sucker for unhinged obsessed stalkers. Yep. And if that's what you're into then welp this book is for you! Please. I stress this. Check your trigger warnings!
I received this as an ARC for my honest review and I'm beyond the moon in love with this story!
Well at least it was entertaining there in the last half of the book. I thought the candy cane scene in Meghan Quinn's book was crazy.....this is on a whole new level of WTF did I just read and how the heck is that even possible? lol
But all in all it was a quick and easy read that definitely had me shaking my head and laughing out loud.
Kane is willing to do anything to make sure Hazel is his. And it shows. This book is short enough to enjoy in one sitting, but not too short to where everything feels rushed. Des did good unpacking a bit of a back story for Kane and Hazel, so you get what you came for and more.
If Hallmark and a baby with exotic horror this book would be the baby. It was dark, twisted and cozy all at the same time. Kane was a man with a crazy plan to get the woman (Hazel) he always wanted. There literally was nothing he wouldn't do get and keep Hazel as his. After reading this there are some things I will NEVER look at the same way again.... Christmas cookies, bar soap, icicles and last but certainly not least candy canes.
This book was horribly formatted. Seriously, each chapter was only like 2 paragraphs but like 12+ pages. Made absolutely no sense — and I absolutely took stars away because of it. It literally messed with my brain and I had to force myself to read it. Then on top of it, it got weird.
Hazel's uncle passes away and leaves her his mountainside vacation home. But to keep it she has to stay there for one week as per the will which works perfectly for her as things with her boyfriend just ended and she was heartbroken.
What was meant to be a relaxing week turned into a chaotic psychological whirlwind that was Kane. He had been obsessed with her for a long time and he was ready to bring her to him! He played mind games with her to bring her closer to him and wouldn't let anything get in the way of him keeping her. He was psychotic and a serial unaliver.
I liked that as you read further into the book little pieces of the story were brought to life and you understood just how far Kane was willing to go to have Hazel as his.

I don’t even know where to begin with Kane! This man is my favorite dark MMC!! Not only is he willing to do anything to secure Hazel, but he’s been planning this a bit! This book definitely makes me wanna act like a Ho, Ho, Ho for Santa (iykyk). I mean this book has everything my little dark heart could ever want!! Kane is more than willing to whip up any special treat your little dark heart could ever want in a book, and then he’s willing to add his own special touch to make it so much more! He stakes his claim on Hazel in many different ways, and I’m not ashamed to say I love it! Bring me a “groundskeeper” who loves me like Kane love Hazel and I’m moving to the mountains in a heartbeat! This year you’ll be waiting up for Santa hoping he brings you special milk and cookies. Ho, Ho, Ho for Santa!
Des has officially secured her place in dark romance with these last few releases, but this one is definitely taking the trophy! 100% check triggers and understand the vibe of the book before going in. This book is for sure in my top 5 reads of the year and I can’t wait to see what darkness Des can write up next.
What if a young man fixates on a young woman for many years, until they’ve become adults, manipulating means, events, and people all on the chance that she’ll be dependent upon him and hopefully fall in love with him?
Now what if that young man suffered from severe disassociative disorder and his dominant emergent personality was that of a prolific, trophy collecting sociopathic serial killer? Would you be intrigued or repulsed? This is the question I’m still asking myself.
As a person who enjoyed the campy escapist “Mask Daddy”, I wasn’t sure what this was going to be but Hunted is far darker than Daddy…
Yet, it’s still an engaging read. Over the top to be sure, morally grey? More like pitch black, as the author describes it. Think Dexter, but after his “code of ethics” had been heaved out the window. Kane is deranged, and it’s interesting to watch the way his actions affect and change Hazel.
If you enjoy very dark romance, this is the book for you. It was a quick read, about two and a half-ish hours.
I was furnished an advance reader copy from the author and booksirens, and I’m pleased to share my honest impressions.
I read the content warnings and was expecting darker. Yes the deer scene was very disturbing and just wrong but I’ve read darker dark romance than this! So I was surprised when it said too dark for print
I do tend to read kinda fast and sometimes miss things . But… I felt the story was a bit lacking and piecey at times like when he mentions casually his multiple personalities…I’m like did I miss that somewhere else ?? Where did this come from
And then all of a sudden he mentions being a serial ☠️and having a basement full of body trophies and I felt that just kinda got thrown in there . Maybe if the book was longer these things would have had more foreshadowing or maybe it’s just me missing things
Also the ending, him casually mentioning the above and she’s like ok that’s fine we are meant to be together
Overall not bad but not good! If someone is into unhinged dark romance then I wouldn’t tell them not to read this. It’s decent . Definitely kept my attention!
3.5⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️(for amount) but an extra 🌶️for the type! The deer and the ex part

4⭐️ This was incredibly addictive i don’t know what des put in this but my god i ate it up!! Give me a stalker romance and ill eat it up but give me a rom-commy stalker romance and I’m absolutely sold. This book was so good it had the perfect mix of dark stalker romance mixed with ridiculous rom-com. The characters were hilarious and the banter each of them had was spot on. I really enjoyed how no actual romance happened until around the 70% mark making it really angsty. Its not light hearted in the slightest though this book was incredibly fucking dark to the point where our FMC Hazel was literally drugged and tricked into thinking our MMC Kane was her knight in shining armour. The spice in this was the perfect amount and was done so freaking well i throughly enjoyed reading it. Yes the characters were both literal physcopaths and the story was incredibly twisted so i don’t know what that says about me but i ate it up. The writing wasn’t perfect and it was slow at the start but the last 50% really made up for it. Please check your triggers before reading because this is takes morally grey and turns it into pitch black and deals with some very heavy topics that could be really triggering for some people, but if your like me and think the more trigger warnings the better then you’ll devour this one.
Oh, a dark Christmas tale, just in time, from one of my favorite authors! Hazel has just inherited her late uncle’s cabin in the mountains. One of the stipulations from the will is that she must stay there for a week to prove residency, in exchange for the property. Coincidentally, she recently broke up with her ex and needs some time to decompress and figure out what she wants to do with her life. What Hazel doesn’t realize that she has a secret admirer that has been behind the scenes to get her to the cabin, by herself and keep her there. It was chilling reading all about what he does and how he achieves this. Hold on tight, folks, because these twisted fantasies will ensnare you and keep you glued to the surprise ending.

I am at a loss of words, literally and figuratively. That's true. I finished this book in one sitting just two days before my exams. It was hot 🔥. Kane, is unhinged, both with his actions and his rambling. As his dead therapist said, he is a psychopath or has "psychopathic tendencies". He is sane, especially for Hazel. And Hazel is oblivious of all the things he is doing. Hazel has just been "heartbroken" and has gotten a perfect opportunity to escape to the mountains, all because she is someone's obsession. This book was quick, intriguing and amazing. A quick read with spice and a pitch black stalker you don't know what to do with - love or hate? It has a list of TWs, read it before you read the book and if TWs are like a shopping list for you then enjoy with cookies with frosting and hot peppermint candy cane cocoa. (Iykyk😋) ⭐:- ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 🌶️:- 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Tis always the season for an obsessive, morally grey psychopath that loves Christmas! This was perfect for this time of year. Hazel and Kane's characters are developed well and Des did a great job building things up/showing Kane's (kinda sinister) plans to win over Hazel. I loved watching Hazel discover what she had been missing/always wanted in her previous relationship and truly finding herself, but how can you not find everything you want in someone like Kane? Smart, attractive, obsessive, can bake, gets rid of people who have wronged you...you know checks all the boxes! I'm so glad I've found Des Sweet's Mask Daddy Holiday Collection and I can't wait for the next one!
Thank you to Des Sweet and Booksirens for the ARC!
Whew! What a ride! A spicy holiday romance with all the charms of a Hallmark movie plus an obsessed stalker MMC.
Hazel is looking for a nice quiet holiday alone in the mountains to heal from her recent and sudden breakup. Kane is the handsome trusty property manager of the cabin that Hazel stays in and who may or may not have schemed to make this exact situation happen so he could finally make Hazel fall in love with him.
Kane is definitely a psychopath but romantic nonetheless. Hazel is living her holiday movie dreams with the exception (added bonus?) of an accidental murder.
Definitely a dark romance and so fun for the holidays!
It was a fun take on me and Mrs Clause. It was fun to see the way the Kane loves and how hard and fully committed he is. Hazel is the girl who’s lost all of her personal strength and joy. She’s going to find it this holiday season and hopefully in the arms of a handsome man. Enter Kane.
These two were so fun and the way that they loved hard was fun to see.
It was a fun little hunting trip that I enjoyed all the twisted ways. Highly recommend this one for my all my dark romance lovers.
3⭐️ Come and molly cookies, icicle temp play, Santa says this is the perfect dark holiday read! I enjoyed this read but feel like I've hit my quota for Christmas novellas this year. They all become a bit same same.
Love the neuro spicy rep. It was a bit cute they both had some ADHD overstate modes and hyper focus modes.
There were so many fun moments with the hallmark references and the dark twists on them. I enjoyed the creative uses for candy canes. The plot was decent but the big reveal at the end fell a bit flat to me. Good overall though

This is the second book in Des Sweet's masked men series, they are standalones so if you haven't read the first book don't worry, you can still read this short, dark, and spicy Christmas book.
This book follows Hazel and Kane. Hazel has just inherited her uncles secluded cabin, and after her breakup with her long-term partner, she goes to the cabin to have some time to clear her head (and also to fulfill a stipulation in her uncles will so that she can inherit the cabin).
Kane has always lived on the mountain, he met Hazel once as children and his obsession with her has only grown since. When Kane finds out that Hazel is returning to the mountain, he puts his plan to make Hazel his into action.
Overall, I liked the story. The characters were flushed out, it wasn't just spice, there was a plot to keep you engaged. The story is fast paced enough that this book is easily read in one sitting. This book would have been a 4 star read if not for the ending. IMO, the ending was too rushed. The story would have benefited from a few more chapters to let the characters (especially Hazel) explore their thoughts and feeling on everything that had happened. Though the ending felt too convenient, it was still a good book.
If you are like me and enjoy both dark romance books and Christmas, you should pick this book up. As always, please check your trigger warnings before reading this or any other dark romance book.
This was different! A bit unhinged, honestly. The MMC has had an obsession with the FMC since they were kids. Sounds innocent enough, right? Well, the MMC is a bit of a psychopath— he’s done therapy and everything!—he’s a legit serial killer with a “collection” in his basement…and he’s determined to make the FMC fall for him.
Anyway, I enjoyed the ride on the crazy train!
Definitely dark, definitely beware of trigger/content warnings, but if you’ve read and enjoyed any dark romance prior to this then you’ll probably be laughing at some of FMC’s inner monologues and then at some of the dialogue between main characters as their craziness goes over the top!
This is a Christmas stalker romance and I don’t like holiday romances but this one was really good. He didn’t some out of pocket things and fed her some questionable things, but it was an easy read and I enjoyed it.
I wish I could have gotten just a bit more story it ended so soon but it was a great book for the holidays. I would read it again 🫶🏼

This was an aggravating read for several reasons, but I don’t like to DNF. The story itself was bonkers. I have read many a dark romance with even morally black (not gray) MMC, but this was insane. Man confessed to being a serial killer at the end and even though she’s only known him for a few days, she’s fine with it… doesn’t freak out in the slightest. The other times she’s slept with him, she was high as a kite because he doses her with Molly he baked into cookies.
The writing itself wasn’t great either. A large part of the first portion of the book had gigantic paragraphs for no reason - or maybe it’s because the paragraphs had no indents of any kind that I thought they were huge paragraphs.

I read 50% of this book and had to call it quits. Not only are there “questionable” ingredients in certain items but he drugs her multiple times and takes advantage of her. There’s a huge difference between morally grey and completely unhinged.
