It was pretty cute. I wish we'd had more development, but there's little that can be done for a short length, and knowing that this story was previously in an anthology makes this length more a requirement than anything.
It feels like something Davidson could expand in the future. It has a very good foundation of an interesting universe, and an interesting relationship. Even following this characters again would be a treat. My one con is the length, as I prefer longer stories to shorts, but it has potential for more and I find that enticing

Silent Knight is a novella that first appeared in O Deadly Night Vol 2 A Charity Anthology and hasn't been changed in any way. This is the story of Ezra and Senon his invisible Silent Knight. Senon has protected Ezra since he was a child and now that he is an adult they meet. I enjoyed the story but hope that Davidson King will go back to these characters and the world she created here. I really enjoyed this quick read. I would definitely recommend this book.

Silent Knight Re-Read Review January 2025:
I originally read this King short in the O Deadly Night Vol 2 Charity Anthology last Xmas and loved it then and I think I might love it even more now. Ezra and Senon are so amazing together, despite some of the darkness of the story you can't help but cheer them on. I have no idea if Davidson King ever intends to expand and branch this universe or perhaps connect it to another of her series, if she does I'll be like the family cat poised to pounce on discarded wrapping paper on Christmas morning. If Silent Knight is all we get of Ezra and Senon's world than I will savor it for Xmases and Xmases in July for years to come.

Original O Deadly Night Vol 2 Charity Anthology Review November 2023:
(from the overall part of the anthology review): "these are dark stories would probably be an understatement. If you're looking for Hallmark-y, Disneyesque, cute meet, cliche HEA, then this is probably not for you. If you like creepy horror with your holiday fare then I can't recommend this anthology enough"

I said above that if you're looking for HEA this isn't the book for you but I think Davidson King's entry, Silent Knight(though more of a dark suspense than flat out horror) is probably as close to that HEA label as any horror collection can provide. Truth is, King's storytelling star shines bright in this perfect blend of dark, dreamy, and delicious. Destiny and holiday has rarely been darker.

I always enjoy Davidson King's work! She crafts new worlds that pull me through plot and character development. She's one of the few authors that can get me to read a Christmas story (cause it's my least favorite holiday), and actually enjoy it!

I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue that begins this story. Ezra, a child who lives in foster care, gets saved many times from often dangerous situations by his "Silent Knight". There is definitely some insta-love by the time Ezra meets his Silent Knight, Senon, in person. Insta-love isn't my favorite, but there is something sweet about in books about falling in love during Christmas. Kind of reminds me of a Hallmark movie. This whole novella reminded me of a Hallmark movie just with good and bad, angels and demons.

Overall, this story was fun and I enjoyed it. A little short, but that's just because I wanted more from this couple.

*Reader Note: I received a free copy of this book directly from the author and this is my honest review.

Originally part of a dark holiday anthology, Silent Knight is now in the world as a standalone. The short story centred on Ezra and Senon is a good very quick read. For me, shorts are hit and miss, and even then if it's a hit I'm frustrated because I want more from the MCs or more time in the universe. I definitely would be happy with more from these characters. Senon has been the sentinel in the shadows for Ezra's whole life, but when circumstances force him into plain sight not only does the threat level rise dramatically, so does the heat…

Silent Knight is a seasonal read - the events take place around Christmas - which is slightly on the darker side. There's insta PNR, as dictated by the short story length, but there's enough world building and the MCs are likeable enough to make it work. Entertaining. 3.5* rounded up.

An ARC was provided by the author. This is my honest review.

Silent Knight is a short novella by Davidson King.

There is a lot of mystery and suspense packed into this short story. It made for a very interesting read.

Ezra has a protector that has been guarding him all his life. When he has been in danger there has been someone there to protect him. Senon made a vow to protect Ezra and takes this seriously. There is some spice between these two. I enjoyed seeing these two form a bond with each other, even though it was quick to form, since they have roughly "known" each other Ezra's whole life, it wasn't unbelievable.

It take place during Christmas, so there is a bit of a Christmas feeling to the story, but I found it to be more about the suspense and intrigue of what was going to happen next with these two.

This book has love, vengeance, mystical beings, tragedy, and joy. All the feels! Ezra has had a pretty crappy life, yet he still manages to keep pure goodness in his soul and shows this by being a light to others, even in his darkest moments. He’s felt a presence in his life from a young age and knows there’s someone out there protecting him. He’s never questioned who it is, or sought them out. This is the story of how he meets his Silent Knight, and how he and his knight give their all to save each other. Once again, Davidson King gives us a story of darkness that leads into the light. It’s fast-paced and has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see if Ezra and his Knight prevail. I loved every word.

An entertaining and imaginative short story.

Sweet Ezra is about to have his world turned upside down and his mind blown! But really don’t all dream of having a silent knight waiting in the wings, keeping us safe, and would literally kill for us? Just me and Ezra? Okay then.

Well Ezra knows a good thing when he finds it.

A highly eventful story, that keeps you entertained the whole way through.

This was a quick and enjoyable read. At 56 pages there wasn’t much room for depth, but what it lacked in depth, it made up in wonderful world building and likable characters. I really liked the premise of this story and hope the author expands upon this story or continues with another one set in the same world. I’d absolutely read it. If you are looking for a quick introduction to the storytelling talents of Davidson-King, or perhaps in the mood for a ‘touch him and perish’ story, this is a great one to pick up. It says it’s a holiday story but that was just a blip in the story. I think this could easily be read at any time.

Ezra has been in the foster system his whole childhood and now is an adult.
Throughout his life whenever there's been trouble it seems to just disappear.
Ezra is aware he has some sort of guardian angel but isn't exactly sure who or how.
One night he's taken by strange creatures and all hell breaks loose, quite literally.
Soren has been tasked with keeping Ezra safe and he's furious that Ezra's being used to get to him.
These two were so sweet together and very steamy as well.
Together they'll have to fight to stay safe from the forces of evil.
I really enjoyed these characters and I really hope the author can find a way to continue their story

Silent Knight was previously apart of an anthology but has since been released as its own story. Even though I read this short story previously, I was excited to read it again now that it was being released as its own story. While the story itself didn't change, I really enjoyed revisiting Senon and Ezra. This story was really unique and was written fabulously.

I was drawn into this world as soon as I read the first page, the characters intrigued me and the events that transpired on page kept me invested in the story. Ezra and Senon's relationship has a bit of an insta-love component to it, which works with how these characters were written.

Overall a fantastic short story!!

This was part of an anthology “O Deadly Knight vol 2” which I hadn't read.
On saying that I urr on the caution of reading dark stories but with this I took a chance because of the author.

A good start as we meet Ezra at the age of 10 living with his foster family, “weird things” begin as he’s Watched.

The story tells a series of small events throughout Ezra’s life. Ezra’s human ideals gets a new input of information as his life is turned upside down on his birthday.
A great short paranormal story to read.
I received an advance reader copy and this is my honest thoughts.

Silent Night by Davidson King is a delight to read. This author has a gift for drawing the reader in with the wonderful characters she creates.
Ezra has gone through lift always seeming to just miss out on a catastrophe! He grew up in foster care and always felt like he had a guardian angel looking out for him.
Better than that he has Senon, his Silent Knight!
This whole novella reminded me of a Hallmark movie just with good and bad, angels and demons.
I would love to see more of these two!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/6.
🌶️/5.

Every Davidson's story is a cozy read to me and this was no different.
Senon, Erza's guardian angel, is a unique being with a special mission.
Erza only seemed to have bad luck until certain things started happening but he was always protected from them so real harm wouldn’t come to him.
Some evil forces are bent on taking Erza but Senon won't let them touch a hair on Erza's head.

Senon is such an adorable being. He was precious! He and Erza were so cute together.
I really had a good time with this one.

I did not get to read this story in the collection stories that it was included so I'm very happy I got to read it as a standalone. Ezra spent his child and early adult life knowing some unknown entity was protecting him. Until one day the truth comes out and his life is turned upside down. Senon made a promise to protect, but did not expect to fall in love. Together they must battle for love and the ability to stay together. A slightly violent paranormal holiday love story that is a quick, easy weekend read.

Thanks for the arc,I voluntarily give it an honest review.

Ezra had grown up alone bouncing from one home after another never realizing he was not truly alone, that was until the bad guys strike for real.

Senon was always in the shadows but now drawn out into the open may just both of them at risk, was Ezra ready for the truth that was to come.

Ezra and Senon was such a quick little read. Hopeful more to come from this amazing duo's new world that life has set in motion by fate of one request.

Ezra, half human, half divine. Both demons and the divine wanted him dead because he’d been born. Senon, both divine and demon, sworn to protect Ezra.

Very sweet, a bit bloody, and way to short, but the author did manage to add some steam. Even with the shortness it is a complete bite of goodness. These characters would totally rock a full length story.

The book starts with Ezra at the age of 10 being bullied by by three older boys. When a noise is heard, he runs away. When he hears what happened to them, he keeps quiet. At age 20, he is working two jobs to make ends meet and one of them is at the hospital. When something goes wrong , he meets Senon, his knight. This starts their story of Ezra finding out about his parents and who Senon really is. Loved it and hope there is more in this world.

Ezra has faced a tough life but remains kind-hearted and serves as a beacon of hope for others, even in his darkest times. Since childhood, he's felt a protective presence and never questioned it. The story follows Ezra’s journey as he meets his Silent Knight and together, they fight to save each other. Davidson King delivers another gripping tale of darkness leading to light, filled with fast-paced action that keeps readers eagerly anticipating whether Ezra and his Knight will triumph.

This is a quick and interesting paranormal romance. The world is interesting (and I would love to get more development maybe in a future expansion of this novella), the relationship is unique and sweet, and there is a bit of darkness and suspense to the plot. The story does take a darker tone, but it still manages to capture the holiday feel. An easy and quick read if you want something a bit more focused on the intrigue and mystery elements.

This is a short read and I do wish it was longer because it such a good read. I love Ezra and Senon! I like how Davidson King has created this world and I definitely would love to see more because this just seems like it could be an amazing world. I definitely would also love to see more of Ezra and Senon. Great quick read.

This is a super quick read featuring Ezra, Senon and some villainous demons.
Ezra lives his life doing the best he can and being the best he can. Circumstances have part demon/part angel Senon finally revealing himself to Ezra as the being that has protected him all his life. So begins a battle against the evildoers for Ezra and Senon where difficult decisions need to be made before they get their HEA. With some drama/action and a steamy scene this makes for a very enjoyable quick and easy read with a very satisfying ending.

“There wasn’t anything in this world I wouldn’t do for my silent knight.” Magical, mystical, and mysterious with a spooky bite. I’m all in with this brief taste to an entrancing world Davidson King has woven for us, and wish all their very own silent knight.

enjoyed this secret protector romance novella. The twist with the title and the Christmas atmosphere made it more romantic. Ezra learned who his guardian really was, and I loved that they we see how they have been connected over time as Ezra grew up. Quick and easy read for a paranormal Holiday!

I really enjoyed this. I'm okay with the length but I feel like it could of been a full blown novel and been just as good. Ezra really is the sweetest and deserves the world. If your looking for a short read that's got action steams and emotions this is for you.
