Piper and her mother take on another new adventure in the second book of the brand-new Piper Morgan series.
After saying good-bye to her circus friends, Piper Morgan and her mom are on the move again, this time returning to mom’s hometown and to Piper’s beloved grandmother’s house after Piper’s mom takes a job in the local elementary school principal’s office. Piper is excited for a new school and new friends—and is thrilled when she is made an “office helper.” But there is one girl who seems determined to prove she is a better helper than Piper—and she just so happens to be the principal’s daughter. Can Piper figure out how to handle being the new girl in town once more?

Piper is now living with Nanna in her mom's hometown. Mom has a new job working in the principal's office. Piper wants to impress Mr. Steadman and be the best office helper, but she has a major rival. Lily is Mr. Steadman's daughter and the two aren't getting along.
It was interesting seeing how Piper and Lily interacted with each other and changed throughout the story. Bad things were said and done between the two and there was the suspense of whether things would worsen or get better. There are lessons here about kindness, rivalry, jealousy, and the power of internal change. The characters, both the young ones and the adult ones, were nicely fleshed out and I enjoyed the school setting.
I enjoyed this second book in the Piper Morgan series as much as the first. Piper and her mom now live with Nanna and her dog, Oreo. More than anything, Piper wants to be a ‘helper bee’ at the school where her mother works, but how will she ever be better than Lily, the principal’s daughter? Piper is a cute, spunky, thoughtful character, who learns from her mistakes. For example, she discovers that winning isn’t everything. Sometimes being a good person is more important. Entertaining Class Facts come at the end of each chapter.
Piper Morgan in Charge! Is the fourth book I read front the series. This was my least favorite one. The storyline was ok just not my favorite. You could use this one as a read-aloud as well if you wanted to. I think if you read the other ones you should read this one as well.
Super cute! My favorite so far. This one is about Piper's mom getting a job in a school. Piper gets to be the office helper along with the principal's daughter. At first the girls fight and have a very adversarial relationship but then they learn how to be friends and its super sweet.
This was a book about getting along with other kids mostly at school. The story was easy to understand and believable. At the end of each chapter there was a summary of the points that chapter made. Example: to make a friend a good the way to start would be to smile and say hello. I think the reader would enjoy the story enough that the key points wouldn't be off putting. I recommend this book to young people who are able to read chapter books. I received this book from Goodreads for free.
I love this book as well as the entire Piper Morgan series. Written for young readers and told in first person, through the eyes of the pugnacious curious Piper Morgan, Stephanie Faris successfully discusses topics kids are curious about in a way that makes them want to listen. Our youngest readers have the opportunity to face issues and resolve them as though they were there, part of the adventure. Each story includes fun drawings that add depth and detail to the story.
This is highly recommended for parents, elementary school librarians, and primary school teachers.
