For as long as she can remember, Katie MacAlister has loved reading. Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. Despite her love for novels, she didn't think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Since her editor refused to allow her to include either witty dialogue or love scenes in the software book, Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, where she could indulge in world building, tormenting characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes.

Two years after she started writing novels, Katie sold her first romance, Noble Intentions. More than thirty books followed during the years after Noble's publication. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and placed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell, and for the mystery world as Kate Marsh.

Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dogs, and can often be found lurking around online.

A buddy read with my Family @ the Wednesday UF group at BB&B! Because we love Dragons, even when they are annoying!!!

This was the forth and last book in the Aisling Gray Guardian Series by Katie MacAlister, and I have to say regretfully, it was the weakest of the bunch... I wanted it to be great, I wanted it to finish with a BANG, but it kind of fizzled off... One of the reasons was the multitude of arcs which either never got resolved (maybe they will be in the next Dragon Septs series), or were quite mishandled, and that had nothing to do with the already established air-headedness of the main character. It seemed as if the author got seduced by the frenetic feel of the series so far and wanted to keep it going, but had no idea where to take it at the end. This is where we were when this book started:

"..."“I’m a demon lord, a prince of Abaddon, which is more or less Hell. I didn’t want the job, and I’m going to be trying like the dickens to get out of it without causing some massive rift whereby people from Abaddon can come into our world and wreak…well, hell. Jim is not a dog, not really. It’s a demon I inadvertently summoned, although it’s not really bad, it’s kind of a former angel-like being who got sent to Abaddon and was kicked out of another demon lord’s legion. And Drake is the leader of a dragon Sept. I’m also a Guardian, which as you’ve seen, is kind of a demon wrangler. Got all that? Good. Now can we move on to the part of the day where I have a nervous breakdown because Drake hasn’t shown up to marry me?”..."

Yes, the family and friends have gathered to witness Drake and Aisling's wedding in London, but Drake is nowhere to be seen. So, she tries to find him, while the Demon Prince Honcho wants her to give him his monthly dues of sacrificed innocent souls, the Blue Dragon continues claiming she is his and has to do what he says, a new challenger for her position is pushing for the spot in Paris, and her family is driving her even crazier than she already is. On top of that, new relative of Drakes' shows up and he is not a very friendly and malleable fellow. Thank goodness for Jim and the new personal assistant demon Traci, or she would be just another crazy lady in the loony bin... All of this sounds just as we have grown to expect, but there was something missing and I think the author and maybe the reader, just ran out of steam. However, there were some very amusing parts...

"..."Jim cocked an eyebrow. “Like you think this is a normal situation?”
“Normal? I don’t even know what’s normal anymore,” I fumed, marching around the room while wringing my hands. “And now look, I’m wringing my hands. Have you ever known me to be a hand-wringer? I detest the sort of woman who wrings her hands! It signifies weakness, and lack of coherence, and a totally unprofessional attitude!”
“And if we know anything about you, it’s that you’re a professional, and you’re confident,” Jim said, nosing a spot on the floor.
“Damn straight I am!” I yelled, forcing my hands apart so they couldn’t wring themselves. “Look, they’re trying to do it again. It’s like my hands are possessed or something! Dear god, it’s the dark power. The dark power has taken over my hands and is trying to wring me into insanity!”
“Is this little drama going to take long? ’Cause if it is, I want popcorn and a Diet Coke with extra ice.”
“You’re not going to like where I put the popcorn and extra ice,” I said, ignoring my possessed hands to glare at the demon with much intent.
Jim’s eyes widened as it backed away. “You’ve got that evil, slightly insane look down pat. Have you been practicing? We’re talking seriously scary, Ash. Hannibal-Lecter-has-nothing-on-you sort of scary.””..."

So, overall, it was still a fun series, very erratic at places, but still charming and adorable. Biggest weaknesses - the sex scenes!!! Terrible! I think if we had just the convos concerning the plot developments and cut away all hints of sex and "intimacy", this series would have been better. I think some authors should just stay away from the more sexual encounters on page and KM is one of them. But I would recommend it to those who love light and silly chick-lit with some paranormal influence.

"..."“Boy, you really do have splinters in the windmills of your mind, don’t you?” Jim asked, shaking its head.”..."

Now i wish you all Happy Reading and may you always find what you need in the pages of a good Book!

AND DONE. At the end of this book I felt like I’d finished one of the challenges on a reality tv show, one of the painful ones.

description

Aisling just isn’t for me. Sometimes there are characters that you want to like and get into but then there is just something and so every little thing they do drives you nuts. That is Aisling for me. I just can’t seem to turn my brain off quite enough to enjoy her stumble into everything accidentally way of making it through a story.

So last book in the series and in the beginning I was a little hopeful that this would be better than a few of the others.

We have the addition of Aisling’s family who are in town for a wedding that just seems to keep getting postponed and they add some additional comic relief to help out Jim. I like Uncle Damian who seems to take the whole otherworld stuff in stride and just go with it. Stepmom Paula is a bit of a hoot with all of her lectures on what Aisling should be doing as a woman and bride. It helped a little, Jim was carrying the entire load before.

We have the addition of the plot arcs for the black Dragons, a Red Dragon war, Aisling postscribed (partially damned), Drake’s Brother, Fiat as Aislings new mate even though it is clear she is with Drake, the never happening wedding, the Baby, Demon Lord stuff, Guardian stuff, Silver Dragon Stuff and a few more. There is a lot going on and up to half way through the book I thought I’d give this about 3.5-4 stars. But then the ending totally fizzled half of the plot arcs were left just dangling out there and the sacrifice that Aisling was so hard for Aisling to make was actually nothing.

You could have taken out half of the various plot arcs and had a more coherent book for sure. Don’t throw it in there unless you are going to do something with it in the end. Seriously the end fight felt rushed and too convenient. Like hey I read this book no one has ever heard of and I can totally beat this because of it. No, no no no not okay.

Aisling bugs me and I know that is 90% of my problem with this series. She is needy in the relationship with Drake, telling him that he has to tell her he loves her at least one time a day. I know it is supposed to be cute but it seemed super needy. Plus some of the stuff that Aisling says about or to Drake is just ridiculous and out of left field.
“Your eyes are so gorgeous, I could just suck them right out of your head.”

Her hormones are on double duty and everytime she looks at Drake we had to read some lustful thought that went through her head. It got tiresome. Also, and this is really my last compliant, sometimes the sex seemed a bit skeevy. Hear me out. Drake is a dragon in human form and sometimes at the point of climax there is like an overlay of his dragon for a split second. This I accept, but Aisling tried to get him to shift a little while having sex and she could see his green scales and feel them. Um…ewe. That seems a little too close to reptilish for me to be comfortable with. I love shifter stories and I’ve never felt like this before while reading any scene with a shifter.

I made it through and feel like I’ve leveled up or unlocked some achievement because of it. The UF peeps at Buddies Books and Baubles did make it fun even though I didn’t really enjoy the story.

Buddy read with my fellow UF addicts over at BB&B.

“Is this little drama going to take long? ’Cause if it is, I want popcorn and a Diet Coke with extra ice.”

Unfortunately I don’t find silly humor funny and Aisling’s antics was just too annoying and ridiculous for me to have fun while reading this book. I can’t believe how irresponsible she was in this book and how utterly annoying her lustful actions towards Drake was. Instead of trying to get herself out of ALL the impossible situations she has managed to get herself into, she tried to delegate some of it, hoping it will all sort itself out without her having to do anything and it PISSED me off. However she did redeem herself slightly when she refused to give Jim up. I loved how protective she was over him in the end.

“Love you. Kisses and hugs. Smoochies galore. Licks, nibbles, and assorted gropages.”

The worst part about this book was the ridiculous and cheesy romance. And I usually have no problem with cheesy romance but there still should be some depth, some romantic emotions that make me feel invested in the romance and that definitely didn’t happen here. Aisling decided to become a needy heroine, wanting Drake to tell her at least once a day he loves her which was just ridiculous. And don’t even get me started on the weird sex scenes. This series would have been SO much better with that.

Plot wise this book was definitely the weakest in my opinion. Too many things were just too neatly sorted and others were just left up in the air for the other spin-off series’. As for the secondary characters I really liked her Uncle who was a total bad-ass despite being a mere mortal among all the Otherworlders and it made me wonder how Aisling could have so many TSTL moments if he had taught her to be better. Also her step-mother was quite funny at times.

“I detest the sort of woman who wrings her hands! It signifies weakness, and lack of coherence, and a totally unprofessional attitude!”
“And if we know anything about you, it’s that you’re a professional, and you’re confident,” Jim said, nosing a spot on the floor.

The only good things about the final book in this series was firstly that it’s thankfully the last one and secondly Jim the demon/dog was hilarious as always. His dry wit was the only highlight of this series.

Buddy read with the UF Freaks of BB&B!

It's over! *screams for the whole world to hear* I am free of Aisling and her total lack of integrity and gray matter! I was so happy that I was willing to give this an extra half star but my enthusiasm died after a couple of days (it took me that long to get around to writing this).

I was hoping that at least in the last book of the series there would be some improvement in the writing. Alas it was not the case. The writing is even worse than before and because a lot of the subplots were totally unnecessary (you can skip one of them completely and it won't change the outcome at all!), the plot holes were even bigger than in the last one and things were a lot of repetitive. Aisling got even more annoying and I still can't believe it's possible. And she's even dumber than before! And what's worse she's almost dragged Drake down to her level of reasoning (or lack of it thereof).

One of the reasons why I decided to keep reading was the blue dragons subplot and what the hell was Fiat up to. We never really got an answer to it and I suppose it's a setting for a spin off series but I will never ever read it. So yeah, I'm screwed.

Jim was as funny as ever and I loved how he was always mocking Aisling's lust for Drake. It was the best part of the series! But even that got a little annoying after 3 books. So basically the only good thing I can say is that it's over.

Special thanks to all my buddy readers for making this a funny experience.

An enjoyable conclusion to the events and multiple subplots of the series - though I do hope she writes more of this character. After the baby, I'm sure.

Aisling and Drake are trying to get married but something always seems to go wrong. Proscribed, Bael is hounding Aisling to give him his sacrifices, Drake goes missing in Tibet, Fiat uses Aisling to support his call for war against the Green Dragons, and it's all just one big mess that her family is in London to witness. Fortunately, she finds Uncle Damian to be very understanding and supportive.

Drake is, as Aisling often says, utterly adorable, and his character has really developed and matured. Aisling, too, has turned out well. It just goes to show that you can bring a couple together during a series, not try to keep them endlessly apart because of a misguided belief that a story ends once two people overcome odds to admit their attraction to each other. Which gets very tiresome, I might add.

I really needed something light and entertaining after Pretty Girls, so it seemed like a good time to finish up the Aisling Grey series.

The series did not finish as strongly as I was hoping. It was still fun and humorous, but it fell a little flat. Some of the elements felt repetitive, particularly the constant mishaps arising from the lack of communication. Aisling and Drake don't spend much time together in this book, so that was disappointing. What bothered me the most though was that there were several times that the story skipped over events and then just gave the reader a quick synopsis of what happened. I flipped back a few times thinking that I had missed something or skipped a page. And those were usually events that I would rather have read directly than read a recap of. So a felt somewhat cheated on those parts.

But it was humorous and diverting and a nice light read, which was really all I was looking for in reading this book.

I think I liked this one the best of the series. There were fewer glaring plot holes and the ending felt tighter.

It was still riddled with character stupidity and too much sex as a plot pacing device, but I think the author was going for humor more than credibility with this series so I've tried not to be too hard on her for it over all.

Mon avis en Français

My English review

This is the last volume of the series and as I had a great time with the first three volumes, I was looking forward to the conclusion of Drake and Aisling story.

The wedding is coming! Oh yes, finally and our two heroes are delighted! It’s not them the problem, no, it’s the universe around them. Yes, because every time they have to walk up the aisle, one of them happens to be absent! Worse, there’s always a very good excuse. But they are determined! Oh yes, they are! Because they’re going to have their wedding, even if Aisling has to go and save her beloved dragon to do it. Of course, she will always be accompanied by René, Jim and this time even her uncle who will discover an unsuspected world!

I had a good time with this volume. Aisling has to face all the problems that occurred in the previous volumes to find a solution. Which will be far from easy, it has to be said! New secondary characters are going to appear and I was delighted to see that some of the characters I’ve seen in other series were introduced here.

It was a series I enjoyed and I’m delighted to have discovered it. I really need to fill in the gaps because I have read many of the author’s books in several of her series and now I would like to read all the missing ones too!

I recommend it! Lots of humor, dragons, and demons, what more could you ask for?

I keep forcing myself to pick this book up and it just isn't worth it. Aisling is no longer funny. She's pitiful and the plot keeps throwing things at her. My very, very slight curiosity is not enough to keep forcing myself to read.

Ugh, I should have written this review earlier, the font sucks now.

This book is the reason why I love the Aisling Grey series and why I look at Book 2 and 3 with rose coloured glasses. My absolute favourite thing about a series is a good ending and this book certainly delivered. The middle could be mediocre but a good ending will earn a devoted reader. I love this book and how everything built up to a satisfying finish. Despite the craziness and all the whacky stuff the author wrote in, it had a great resolution and that makes the reading so worth it.

I laughed so much in this series. This book was definitely funny. I love Jim to bits and Aisling and Drake's relationship works in its own way. He is this serious logical person who is happy with his ditzy and unpredictable lover. It helps that she backs up her ditz with her own power, that her unique point of view is actually a benefit sometimes. I rolled my eyes at her a lot throughout the series especially when she complains and doesn't understand the underworld but her ignorance does lend her another point of view, another perspective to look at a problem and thus find creative solutions. I laughed so much when she was pushing for the sacrifice of chickens as the six innocent souls Baal asked for. I think only she could get away with it because other people wouldn't cling to their ignorance and ostensibly mean it. Not many people would rush to a cursed prison and enter heedlessly. She did and it could have all gone wrong but it worked out in the end. I think this book gave justifications for the traits that were so annoying in previous books. I think it definitely gave what was missing in previous books and I'm glad I read it. It gave a nice conclusion to their story and it is nice to see that it ends in a great way. All their struggles amounted to something good and that is always nice to read as an ending.

I love Drake. He is coldly pragmatic but he is there when Aisling needs him. He developed as a character from a dominant dragon to one that bends. I like their relationship together even if Aisling is a bit of a handful. However, Drake loves her and that bears more weight. They work together.

I love Jim. He is absolutely hilarious in every scene.

Aisling is a bit ridiculous and colourful. My opinion of her depends on how much hysterics she has and whether the people around her are buying into it or just letting her be. My opinion depends on the people around her.

Her uncle delivered one of my favourite moments of the book, which was when people were ragging on Fiat and how he is horrible. Aisling's uncle had the last word and said that Fiat looks like a pornstar. He doesn't trust people that look like they make their living with their dicks. He made the comment in front of Bastian, who looks like Fiat.

Anyways, I thought this book was absolutely a great one to end the series. Storylines were closed off to a satisfactory finish. Aisling learned to be a dragon's mate. She learned that she is a guardian no matter what anyone says. After going through many hardships to get a mentor and have her mentor be banned from teaching her and being banned from being a guardian to sacrificing that aspect of her to appease Baal, she had it in her all along and no one could take it away from her. She goes back to being a simple demon lord after giving Baal a hard time. She also stops being Venediger after giving them every reason to replace her. The topper of it being her wishing to rush the arcade fight because she has more important things to do than the ceremonial fight.

The book revolves around Aisling and her being overwhelmed by all her responsibilities. She is being dogged by an evil voice in her head coaching her to give in to its power. She holds out but she is tempted. She knows she can't keep avoiding it forever. She is also planning weddings but a lot of things are going wrong. The Green Dragons are in war with the Red. This is making life troublesome for the green sept. She is also being troubled by the blue sept asking her to perform mate duties. Fiat is using her to support his war against the green sept. She is also asked to perform Venediger duties and an imminent fight is on the horizon when a suitable replacement is found. Meanwhile, Baal is hounding her asking for her fealty and sacrifice. She is dodging all these responsibilities dealing with the most time sensitive or what matters to her the most first. She fends of the blue dragons by finding a replacement wyvern, she gets rid of the evil voice by getting the other princes of hell to kick her out, she gets rid of the dragon war by pushing Chuan Red in the closing portal, she learns she is a guardian no matter what.

They end with Gabriel officiating Drake and Aisling's wedding.

In this final book Aisling bumbles along in her usual „professional“ manner, „not understanding“ because nobody ever explains and the action interrupting again and again and again. And she continues making up weird rules for Drake to follow. Now he has to tell her „I love you“ at least once a day and she keeps calling him „Sweeeeetieee!“ rolls-eyes. Her lusting after him has diminished in no way, her self-centered behavior („Oh there you are, let me tell you how terrible my day was.... for five pages until I remember to ask you why you stood me up for “) and inability to think before jumping only interrupted by unbelievable flashes of genius („oh I think the black smoke from half-finished summoning circles will not trigger the smoke detectors“)

What remains of the sex scenes are a few fragments... actually a relief after the weirdness that reigned supreme in book 2 + 3.

While it becomes clearer, how the author intended to use Aisling‘s over-the-top cluelessness for comedy, most of the time those attempts just fall flat for me and Jim’s snarky comments are repeated too often to hold any comedic value at the end of book 4. But „sometimes brains are overrated“ (brains are mentioned 19 times in the book, most often concerning Aisling’s capacity). Aisling‘s favorite curse „hell“ is corrected by Jim to „Abbadon“ in at least two dozen instances.

Her collection of sidekicks has grown with every book. With the Rene mystery lifted even he becomes boring and don’t get me started on Uncle „black-ops“ Damian. Traci and the software company could have been good for some jokes but alas he is only ever sent to fetch chicken. Don‘t forget Nora her on-and-off friend/mentor who appears conveniently when she can help the plot.

Speaking-of. The plot is just as wobbly as the previous 3, barely skirting around the holes, lacking in actual consequences ().

Recommended if finishing a series brings you some kind of closure. Although the book leaves enough „open ends“ that the series could have continued...

Holy Smokes is the fourth and final book following the life and love of Aisling Grey (although I understand she and Drake will be pretty prominent characters in Katie MacAlister's new Silver Dragons series). This is a series of books you have to read in order for them to make any sort of sense. So, here's the order: You Slay Me, Fire Me Up, Light My Fire.

In this installment, Aisling and Drake are finally getting married, but as the book opens, Drake isn't showing up for the ceremony. They do eventually make it to the altar, but nothing in Aisling's life is ever done easily.

I've been a big fan of this series since book one. They are full of humor and you can't help but just shake your head at all the trouble Aisling gets herself into (think Lucille Ball from "I Love Lucy"). But there was something about this book that fell a little short for me. Aisling seemed to whine more than usual (or perhaps it's only my memory since I read book three over a year ago). She didn't seem to be herself and I kept waiting for someone to slap some sense into her. Oh how I wish I could give this particular book a better review since I loved the previous ones. It did have a happy ending and left lots of questions unanswered that will hopefully be tackled in the new series.

Gave it a 5 'cause of the hilarity, action, suspense, but my fave book out of the series is still the 2nd one (Fire Me Up). More mysteries unravel in this book, what with Aisling confirming she is indeed breeding, Drake is more protective than ever, and I really liked Uncle Damian's character, he reminded me of Robert De Niro in "Meet the Parents". Although this is the last book in the series, there are new characters and surprising events which lead to more questions. I give credit to Katie MacAlister for having answered them, explaining the history and providing us all with happy endings. She really got creative here, I liked the fight scenes, the Aisling-and-Drake scenes, and the lovable Jim's snarky comments. There were rekindled relationships and new ones. This is a great paranormal series, very interesting, and out-of-this-world, and if you just want fun and not-so-seriousness, I highly recommend it.

Drake he worries about his woman but he does it in a macho, alpha sort of way, “where are you? Where have you been? Why have you not answered my calls?” Drake growled. “Rene and your uncle said you just disappeared on the street. Have you been harmed?” You would think Drake would learn by now that to get what he wants he needs to give his woman what she wants, “I would be perfectly happy to let you make wild, passionate, steamy dragon love to me, but first you have to answer a couple of questions.” There are times Drake has a one track mind, “I’d rather talk about you riding me,” he answered, his dragon fire building inside him." I liked this book not a lot of humor as the last one but I'm glad these two got things worked out, finally.

Best book of the series! I really liked this series, and I liked the ending. I liked seeing all the characters grow, and I appreciated that not everyone one-dimensional. Loved seeing Uncle Damian in this one, too! :)

My only major qualm, in the end was that the books were too short and had too many editing errors to cost the price they cost for Kindle. If you are going to charge $7+ for a Kindle version of a book, it had better be longer than 400 page and be immaculate when it comes to editing, it had also still better be cheaper than the mass market paperback version on Amazon.

Another day, another catastrophic event planning a wedding is difficult at the best of times, but with Princes of Hell demending innocent souls, lecturing mother in laws and a certain wyvern bridegroom that has gone missing the shit has truely hit the fan for Aisling Grey, Prince of Hell, Guardian and wyvern mate extradonaire. Will she overcome all the new challenges before her, or will it be one disaster too many?

Oh Aisling, what a real cock up (in more ways then one haha) the past 6 months has been for her! Although she has found true love, an amazing and hilarious sidekick and a kick ass career it hasn't been easy for her, the odds are never in her favour and lets face it, she can be a little slow on the uptake sometimes. But I have really enjoyed these books, they are funny adventure filled stories that leave you dying to know what will happen next. And as well as having far fetched but highly entertaining plots, this series also had fantstic characters that have kept me glued to the page.

If you have read my reviews for the previous books in the series (which you should they are amazing reviews lol!) you will probably have guessed that I have an intense and disturbing obsession with Jim. I can't help it; I love him, I want a Jim all of my own so he can comment sarcastically on my life at inappropriate times and slobber over anyone who pisses me off. Aisling has also kept me highly entertained as well, I love that she keeps certain arrogant and overbearing wyverns in their place, whilst also melting into a pile of goo whenever he smoulders at her! As for the overbearing wyver in question, Drake, I still "meh" him, I like him, he is okay he seems to give great orgasms but I just can't get all hot and bothered about him.

But these books are worth reading for new world they create and watching Aisling and Co stumble through it. If these books were a comedy TV programme, I would class them as slapstick, you know one of those scenes where a characters walks in to something that causes something to fall over that in turn spills something, until 10 seconds later the whole room looks like the site of a plane crash? This series is like that, only in book form.

I will definitely be reading more Katie MacAlister more specifically her Silver Dragons series, Drake may not have blown my whistle, but Gabriel certainly did!

My second time through reading this series and then reading my review from the first time, and basically, I still feel the same. Though, I think I was a bit too in to rereading these and just devoured all 4 books in a row. I think my only wisdom to myself would be to 'next time', if there is one... Don't do that. Don't read them in all one lump. Space them out and savor the quirky brilliance of Katie MacAlister. The snarky, witty humor, wacky characters, crazy drama, hot-sexy scenes... All the things that make this entire series so great, became a bit diluted by the end. I think if I would have put more time in between, it would have continued to feel fresh. But really, the whole thing is great. Beyond great, and I'm glad I spent the time to re read these. And since I've already read all of the other books in the other dragon series books that are tied to this one, I'm just going to say, "Ugh, I'd forgotten what a douche bag Kostya is." And he just keeps at it in the next books. Oh well, not a deal breaker. If you haven't read these.. Read 'Em, all of them! They're soooo good.

What a fun ride, these books. I have enjoyed following the story of Aisling, Drake and Jim (and all of the other crazy characters). I am sad for their story to be over, but glad to know that the next series is out there waiting for me. I will say I was kind of "over" the wedding drama by the end, and if she called him "Sweetie" anymore I thought I might be sick. I thought the end was satisfing, and was glad some of Aisling's many problems were solved. A good read when you need something fast, witty and distracting.

In the fourth book in the Aisling-Gray-Series Aisling and Drake try to get married – with the emphasis on try – only to be interrupted every time they stand before the altar what was getting old and annoying when it happened the third time. There were as many problems for Aisling to solve as in the previous books, some new characters were added to Aisling´s team like her demon steward Traci, Drake´s brother and her uncle Damian. I liked him and his gruffly way setting Aisling´s head straight again when she started to wallow in self-pity. Aisling is still most of the time clueless about everything and her mindless babbling gave me sometimes a hard time to still like her. And I´m sorry to say but Drake lost a bit of his appeal to me I thought him being henpecked by Aisling a bit too much.. sigh and Aisling´s constant "sweetie" when talking with Drake was a habit I could have done without. Nothing against terms of endearment but I thought them to be rather ridiculous in connection with a strong and fierce dragon wyvern. But still it was a funny book to read and the dragons surely have find their way into my heart and of course when there will be further dragon adventures I will be on board...

I'd like a little closure with some of these books. I enjoy the characters even though Jim is annoying and Aisling is helpless and airheaded at times, but I wish more would be resolved. Hardly anything happened in this book to further the plot. There was danger, people were running around after people, nothing was getting explained to Aisling (and therefore us), and then more issues were presented, with no resolution. I've had about enough of books that keep building and building with no end in sight. I've read the 15 book series that go on and on about nothing, and it's not fun. I enjoy authors that plan out a series, set a book number, and resolve things as the books go along. When you write without planning books become dry and pointless-this series is getting there. I was very annoyed at the lack of closure in this book. It's sad because I really like the dragon septs and the secondary characters, but interesting plot lines get left behind in place or unimportant ones. More questions arise than are answered, it's frustrating.

It is up to her usual standards, in this novel several plots that have been floating around get resolved. It almost felt like the finale of the series, but I won't know that until or if another book gets back.

As usual, she puts Aisling the main character and her love Drake through hoops. She has all kinds of things happen to her most of her hijinks relate to the two of them trying to get married and having crises coming up which prevent said nuptials to take place. Reminds me a bit of Betsy from MaryJanice Davidson's vampire queen series in its humor. My favorite character is Jim the Newfoundland dog/demon former angel sidekick of hers, and if you read the book you will see why, he has a quirky but funny sense of humor. Just imagine someone with an impish humor inhabiting a dog's form, and you get the idea.

If you haven't read the rest of the series though, go and read them first and you won't regret it.

Book 4 of the Aisling Grey Guardian series. This book, like book 3, is extremely action-packed. The ending is MUCH more satisfying that the previous 3 novels in this series - this might even be the end of the Aisley Grey series, though it looks like more dragon books are on the way from the author's website. In this book:
Aisling's wedding to Drake is ruined 4 times;
The red dragon war gets worse before it gets better;
Drake is reunited with his formerly imprisoned brother;
Fiat (blue dragon) goes out of his way to screw over Aisley and Drake (I'm not sure why he did it though - his motivation wasn't clear.);
Aisling breaks Fiat's biggest rival out of prison;
Drake and Aisling steal Fiat's most valuable possession;
Aisling nearly loses her soul;
Aisling becomes a prince of Abbaddon (hell) for a short time;
Aisling does amazing feats of guardianship; and
She might be pregnant.

Action, nonsense, magic, and sexy men...what more can you ask for? Aisling runs a mile a minute trying to have a wedding, get out of being "Damned", avoid getting herself killed by red dragon sept members, and return to being officially Drake's mate.

In addition to the normal comic relief, Jim, the demon in a Newfie's body ("Who am I? Where am I? Do I still have all my toes?"), Aisling's Uncle Damian also gives way to some great lines, such as when he sees Fiat (beginning of chapter 8):

The dark voice in her head can get a little distracting at times (which is probably more to illustrate how Aisling is distracted by it) and her Stepmother's rants annoy you as they should (anyone else have a member like that in their family?!).

I am sad to see the series end..

Aisling is technically no longer Drake's mate, making their connection slightly diminished. While slightly silently mourning that connection she is trying to plan her wedding and deal with Fiat as diplomatically as possible, at least as much as she can be diplomatic. She discovers she in fact pregnant but of course still gets herself into a lot of dangerous situations. Love her relationship with Drake in this one, finally coming together. Love her uncle and of course adore the demon dog. Wish there was another book, what about the baby? What about the black dragons? I obviously love this series and couldnt get enough.

Fun Fun Fun. Love the Aisling Grey, Guardian series. This is the 4th book in the series and Aisling and Drake are TRYING to get married. One thing after another gets in the way.

I feel like a few loose ends were wrapped up in this book - enough that I wonder if there will be another? I hope so. I feel like Aisling had too many pots on the fire - and it was hard as a reader to keep up with all the trouble she was in from so many directions.

Definetly a great series to read and I really love her talking dog Jim. What a hoot!

This was a nice wrap up to this series - sort of...it leaves a few to many things unsaid with the dragons, but ties up all the guardian stuff. Maybe it ties into one of her other series? Aisling using the "sweetie" thing every other time she talks to Drake bugged the heck out of me, but the humor is consistant. The plot thickens in this book between the dragons and becomes more of the story. I really like this author and will definately check out some of her other books.

Humor, chaos and a lot of boinking. That's three words that can describe any book about Aisling Grey. If you need light and funny paranormal romance, this is always a good choice.

I would be sorry that the series ended, but I have the next series about Silver dragons and Gabriel to keep me entertained.

Disappointing ending to the series. Seemed like the author didn't have any direction and just wrote for the sake of finishing. Drake is still fire engine hot though!!

1st read - 2014 ****
2nd read - 2018 *** It got pretty tedious, but it was a good wrap up with enough loose ends to make me curious about the spinoffs.
