A Bad Boy MMA Romantic Suspense Novel

I’m a fighter at heart. And I just found something worth fighting for – the baby I never knew I had.

After spending months behind bars, I’m a free man and I’m on the move to make a name for myself. I’m sent to collect on a big debt, only to learn the woman I have to collect from is a curvy beauty that I hooked up with one night. What’s bigger than that is she has an infant son… my infant son.

The role of father hits me hard, especially since I didn’t know Ashlynn was pregnant. I’m used to breaking heads and hands, no changing diapers. The moment Ashlynn and I are alone, the ferocious attraction is back, but it’s a dangerous attraction to have. The more I learn about Ashlynn, the more I realize she’s not the one in debt to my boss. But my boss wants nothing to do with old romance or a secret baby. He wants to collect, by any means necessary. Suddenly, I’m facing off against the mob.

For the first time in my life I have something to lose besides my life. I have a family… and nobody is going to take that away from me.

I love a good fighter story.  That rough bad ass attitude just does it for me.  When they fall head over heals for their woman, it's the icing on the cake.

Noah was a rough around the edges, illegal underground fighter.  He had no intentions of having a relationship or family.   He dedicated himself to fighting and working for Benito as his muscle.  He sees a woman at one of his fights and has to have her.  They have sex in the bathroom before his fight and all he knows is he has to have more of her.  They agree to meet after the fight.   Unfortunately,  the fight is busted and Noah is arrested.  A year in jail and everyday he thinks about the woman from the fight.

Ashlyn was a good girl who had worked hard to put herself through college dispite her horrible upbringing.   One night of her "letting loose" finds her pregnant and alone.  She  thinks about Noah every day, especially when she looks into their son's eyes.  She doesn't know Noah was arrested, she just thinks she was a notch on his belt.

Now a year has passed and Ashlyn finds Noah in front of her, and now they are fighting for their lives.

--badass underground fighter
--strong, smart heroine
--no cheating
--no om drama
--ow info after they are reunited, there is noone else at all for either of them. Noah is all alpha male and protecting what's his.
--no pushing away
--steamy sex scenes
--there were violent parts to the story
--HFN ending

I received an ARC from Author in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a part of a series, but you can read it as a standalone.
If you like fighter romance with a bit of suspense, secrets and babies, you will like this one :)
On top of it all, this is a second chance romance. Great combo!
Noah and Ashlynn spent one night together. Just one night that changed everything.
After a year apart, they bump into each other again, and sparks fly!
I enjoyed this one and recommend it to all fighter romance fans!

This just wasn't for me. Way too much going on and not enough backstory. Full of holes and contradictions. Insta-love, insta-action, insta-hea. It had promise, but just fell flat for me.

Just okay! 2.5***

Noah and Ashlynn meet at an underground fight and hook up. Ashlynn is the good girl who always does everything right, but she wanted one night of freedom for her. Noah is an underground MMA fighter. They had agreed to meet up after his fight, but in the middle of that, the cops barge in and everyone scatters, including Ashlynn. Noah is caught by the cops because instead of escaping he was too busy looking for Ashlynn. He is not to worried about the arrest because he is sure his boss Benito, who is a mafia guy will take care of it. He is not only Benito's best fighter, but his muscle as well. No such luck. Noah goes away for a year.

Ashlynn has issues of her own. Noah totally disappeared and she has never heard back from him. He did leave something behind and this is where I was like, really? She was a med student for goodness sakes. You meet some random guy at a fight and you hook up, with no protection? Really? Just no. So she has a newborn, with no idea of where the father is, a sick mom, a dead end job as a server at some club, and a dead beat dad who will cause her issues. I will say she was commendable in the love she had for her baby and in doing whatever she had to in order to support him and take care of him.

A year later Noah is free and angry. He has no idea what happened at this fight. Once getting to Benito he is told they had been set up. Anyway he just wants to go back to work and earn some money. Benito has a job for him and it leads him straight to the girl from a year ago.

He is surprised to find Ashlynn and shocked about the baby. It takes him a minute to work thru it all and it's sweet the way he was so grateful and apologetic that she had carried his baby and went thru her pregnancy all alone.

Besides the reunion between Noah and Ashlynn, there is suspense in this story. Noah needs to find Ashlynn's dad. He is involved in some mess that is putting Ashlynn in danger. So there are bad guys, some stalking, the sick mom and her secrets, and the mafia.

There is a reason why London Casey/Anna Fawkes will always be one of my favorite authors. She writes awesome stories with characters that stay with you even after you are done with the book. Gripping from the start, it has a good mix of drama, angst, danger, suspense, deceit, a great story-line that keeps you glued to the pages, forgiveness, second chances, romance, grief, family, sizzling sex, love, and a HEA.

Gotta love this bad boy

Ok, this was the perfect book for the book hangover I recently had. Noah was alpha without being mean or over the top. Normally, Insta-love is hard for me to really believe. But the way it was written worked and made me want to not just go with it, but believe it. I really loved that Noah wanted to find Ashlynn, he just didn't know how. He constantly thought about her while locked up. The way he found her was a little far-fetched, but I enjoyed the book so much that I didn't care. The important thing to me was that he always wanted to find her and it wasn't that they ran into each other and he was like "oh yeah, I really dug you. Now that you're here let's see if we're still into each other" . That's my beef with most second chance romances. Ashlynn rocked and was a strong heroine, which I love. This was a well written, suspenseful, steamy read that I've been wanting to read for awhile. I'm so glad I finally read it!

It makes no difference that this is book four in the series it is perfectly at home as a standalone novel and while I think that is a good thing, I don’t feel it would be any hardship if you have the time to give the previous books a read.
Noah has spent a year rueing the day he is handed a one year jail term, because it isn’t only his liberty he lost being inside, it was the chance to track down and the woman that rocked his night, right before he was arrested. Life was harsh enough being a fighter, at the beck and call of the mob but there was something about this woman that had him looking for her again, the chance for a second meeting, and it wasn’t of their minds if you get my drift. But incarceration put paid to all of his plans that night and the sh**storm that ensued and when the cell door closed, he was left with no option but to put his unknown, unnamed mystery woman out of his head, he had time to serve and keeping his wits about him was his prime objective.
Ashlynn’s circumstances were little different to Noah, she is making do and keeping her head above water, she has a completely different reason for being unable to forget her night with the sexy fighter, one that she is going to have to share with him sooner than she thought because Noah is out of jail and back in the employment of Benito but this time is isn’t just earning a crust in the ring, nope he is flexing his muscle outside too.
Collecting debts isn’t exactly what he wants to be doing but when the scope of works means that he just has to do whatever he needs to in order to resolve the matter, Noah’s fine with that, until he rocks up at the door of the guy who owes and is faced with someone he never expected to see again…Ashlyn
Now, that little tete a tete would have been awkward enough had there not been any weapons involved but the Mexican standoff that ensued was difficult for them all, he never thought he would see her again, or her him but no matter what transpired, the truth of their night together is presence of her child, her baby boy Jude because this is not the way you expect to introduce your son to his father!
Noah is blown away by the fact that he has a son, but he is also devastated that Ashlyn has had to go through everything herself, she is the mother of his child and he is gutted that he wasn’t able to be there not only to ensure she was safe and had everything she needed but to see his kid come into the world, he wanted more for his family and she and Jude were most definitely HIS family.
So without hesitation he is ready to step up to the plate and do whatever he has to straighten thigs out with Benito and the mob, to explain that her dad is the guy they want, not her and to take on the role that he has now accepted, as Jude’s father, and Ashlyn & Jude’s provider and protector.
It was never going to be easy, nothing ever is but keeping them both safe was always going to keep his life very interesting, there were so many secrets and lies surrounding their environment that it was difficult to make out the good guys from all the bad ones. But Noah was doing his best, trying to keep his head above water and to keep his family together but could he?
Would the mob use his family as leverage against him? Just how far would he go to make sure that the freedom he is struggling for is something that his son will never know about, the life he wants for his kid is so far removed from the one he has endured that he is willing to stop at nothing.
There are twists and turns along the way that I didn’t anticipate and it is fair to say that everything isn’t exactly what it appears at first glance but if they can stick together and believe in each other then, just maybe this little family may just have chance to make it.
Noah was a great character, he has more lying under the surface than he ever showed, he was a big guy but he had a sensitivity when it came to Ashlyn and Jude that brought his real personality to the fore, he was torn and tormented almost by the life he was having to live but he had an end game and in his mind he had reconciled the fact that he was willing to do whatever he had too to cross that finish line with his family intact and he had the perfect partner in Ashlyn because she was just as tough. She was so strong, she gave up college for her son and with no-one, was forced to bare the weight of her pregnancy alone. She was a beautiful woman that had a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue. As strong as Noah was toward ensuring her safety, she was equally as protective of him.
I found myself rooting for them almost from the outset but I was really worried that they wouldn’t get their happy ever after, that despite all their time and effort, all their hopes and dreams that there was someone and believe me there were enough of them dotted throughout the story to take what they were striving for away from them.
A good read with a moral undertone that cannot be downplayed, good people do bad things for the right reasons, and I think the story showed that you should never judge a book by its cover.

Fire & Ice

ALWAYS a powerful combination when these authors put out a book. HOWEVER when they join together it's just plain EXPLOSIVE! Absolutely wonderful, you're pulled in from the beginning & no matter what's going on you don't want to put the book down until you've read the last word! You cannot turn the pages fast enough to see what's going to happen next!
Noah's an underground MMA fighter for Benito Corlandio, he's also the one that gets the call when Benito needs someone found that owes him money (the hunter). One night at a fight Noah and Ashlynn have wild sex in the bathroom before the fight, the cops show up & bust the place up. Noah knows they have a plan in place to get him out quickly & safely, however he's too slow because he's looking for Ashlynn to make sure she's safe. Which means he got busted and spent a year in jail. Benito still had him protected on the inside by Bo. When Noah got out he went straight back to work for Benito. Benito loves Noah because he does his job, in and out; he has no baggage, until he does....... Now what?
Ashlynn wanted one night of wild and crazy fun before she went to medical school. She got that and more, but ended up with more than she bargained for. After her wild & crazy unprotected sex in the bathroom with Noah, she was able to sneak out the back & get safely away when the place was invaded by the police. Alone and pregnant she had no idea what to do, then her mother shows up with stage 4 cancer. Now Ashlynn is working night to night trying to survive and keeping the patrons at Ricky's from manhandling her. Noah comes knocking her off her feet after a particularly bad night at work, which is when he find out he's a father and she finds out he's been in jail for the last year. Unfortunately he's looking for someone that owes Benito a substantial amount of money, if he doesn't find Craig (who happens to be Ashlynn's father), then Benito will take Ashlynn and Jude to make Craig come out of hiding.
What will happen with Ashlynn and Jude, with Noah be able to keep them safe from his boss? Who else is looking for Craig and the money he owes? Someone seems to be after Noah too, who could that be? Will Noah be able to keep his family safe? Will Ashlynn get her fantasy ending? This is a hot and spicy MMA, mafia, bad boy/good girl suspenseful romance novel. There are lots of twists and turns that will keep you wanting more. I'm always waiting for the next book from these authors, EXCELLENT JOB! I received this ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review, but I also purchased a copy! Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.

Noah and Ashlynn were so darn cute together. Even when they were forced apart, they always thought of one another. Their first encounter left her pregnant and alone. Her family and friends basically gave up on her. She had no one. When Noah found her again, he became her best friend and her family. I loved Noah's possessive ways and his uneasiness with his son. It was so believable and comical. Noah was a proud man and he protected those who needed it, even if they were strangers. Ashlynn was a strong heroine. She was young and alone but she took care of her son and her dying mother. Loveable characters and action packed story.

100 STARS!!!! 5 STARS DOESN’T DO THIS BOOK JUSTICE!

Anybody who knows Karolyn James (aka London Casey) knows she is very good at what she does. She an author who knows how to write a book and keep the readers interested in the series no matter how long the series is. Hence, she knows what her readers want and she gives it to them1!!! No matter if it is a fighter, rock star, or a motorcycle club. “Hurt” is a book you do not want to miss. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed in it. She grabs you at the very beginning of the book when Ashlynn and Noah meet for the very first time at a fight match where Noah is getting ready to fight. Oh, I can tell you they had some powerful sex (unprotected sex, hint). She keeps your attention while Ashlynn is having her baby and trying to raise it, while working as a server at a strip joint. Noah is in jail having been busted for the illegal fight the night he met Ashlynn (oh, he keeps thinking about her. Your attention is still held when Noah gets out of jail and goes back to work for his boss, Benito Corlandio (Mob boss). And your breathing hard now because at this time Noah runs into Ashlynn after over a year in jail and trying to find a man named Craig for his boss. Oh, and the surprise he gets when he finds out he has a son. Oh, what a tangled web Karolyn James has weaved! Oh, I don’t want to spoil the book for you so that is all you get. I will give you this much to ponder though. The man Noah is after is important to the story. Things will come up that will test Noah and Ashlynn both. The book contains murder, mob bosses, a gorgeous fighter, and so many twists and turns you will dang near come unglued before you finish the book. Trust when I say you will not be disappointed! This book is for mature readers 18 years of age or older.

Will Noah and Ashlynn get together now that he is out of jail? How will react when he learns that Ashlynn had his baby? Will they even get out of this alive? Will Noah be a dad to his son or just run?

No Spoilers. ARC free book given for an honest review.

The best part of this book is Noah

I liked Hurt, the story was interesting and the development no bad at all. My only problem is the insta-love and is happening in more books I read lately and this one is not the exception.

My only problem with this is that they only spent one night together but when the see each other after a Year they are talking about all these feelings. People, it was one night I get it if you say you were still attracted to each other but that doesn't mean that Ashlynn should be super trusting with Noah.

Another thing Ashlynn is a terrible mom I mean Noah was in prison and she receives him with open arms in her house and even sleeps with him. I get it he didn't do anything terrible but she doesn't know that at first and yeah he's the baby's father but really? he is practically a stranger she only met him once . Also, she keeps getting in danger "trying to help Noah" with the baby in her arms. I know she sacrifices herself a lot for that baby and keeps him healthy I'm not saying she doesn't love him or take car of him I'm just saying when things got difficult she thought first of other things. I also think this has a lot to do with her blinding trust on Noah.

All of this aside the story was interesting it moved a little too fast but still good. The writing style was good too just some things that were happening in the story what got me like WTF?. The ending was really good and liked that Ashlynn was going back to school again after everything.

That's another thing I love Noah because he always was supporting her and wanting to make her dreams of being a doctor true. I really love Noah he was I little asshole-ish but he was good to Ashlynn and the baby. Ashlynn wasn't so bad either just a little too trusting to a stranger but that's ok I was still rooting for them to be together.

Noah has been wild since as long as he can remember; he never wanted a woman, never wanted a baby, never wanted a family, but Ashlynn changes all that. Looking for one last wild night before going off to Medical School, Ashlynn meets Noah at an illegal fight; little did she know how much that night would change the rest of her life. Noah turns up at Ashlynn’s apartment, but it has nothing to do with finding her or because of Jude, it is because her father Craig, a degenerate gambler, owes his boss, Benito, money. Noah has been imaging what it will be like to get out of jail and going straight back into the life he knew and loved, but that is not going to happen; now he has to keep Ashlynn and Jude safe and a secret, until he can get more information about Craig and the rest of Ashlynn’s family. Ashlynn knows she can never lose Noah again; Jude needs his father, she needs him and her heart needs a fighter. Ashlynn realises how hard Noah’s life has been, but she can see his internal strength that comes from his heart and soul and she knows she is in love with him. When Noah’s friend Bo is killed in prison, everything points to Ellis; somehow he is the connection between Benito, Craig, Bo, Ashlynn and Jude. Ellis has outrageous plans for Benito but he needs Noah’s help. There is no option, Noah has to do this for love, love for Ashlynn and Jude; he will do anything to protect them. The ensuing confrontation brings Benito, Ellis and Noah together, but Benito has lied; he knows exactly who Ellis is and there are consequences. This is a very intriguing story that brings together some exciting facets to make it an extremely fascinating read and one which I would have no hesitation in recommending. HURT by London Casey and Ana Fawkes

After spending months behind bars, his back to work and out to make a name for himself. His first job is to collect on a big debt, but when he gets there he realises it's a girl he hooked up with just before he went to prison. And what's more startling is she has a child, his child.

The role of father hits him hard, especially since he didn't know Ashlynn was pregnant. His a fighter, used to breaking heads and hands, not changing diapers. But the moment that they are alone, the ferocious attraction is back, but it's a very dangerous attraction.

The more he learns about Ashlynn, the more he realises it's not her debt, but his boss isn't interested in old romance and babies. He wants what's owed to him by any means necessary. Suddenly his facing off the mob. And for the first time in his life he has something to lose, his family....and nobody is going to take that away from him.

I loved this book, it was awesome. It was captivating and action-packed with lots of hot romance. I loved the characters, Noah is a tough, headstrong fighter, whose also really sweet. Ashlynn is a strong woman, who is forgiving, loyal, spirited, and very loving. They have an intense chemistry and make a great couple. However, I found that the speed that their relationship moved was just a little too quick, and there were a few discrepancies in the storyline. But never the less it was still a very entertaining read, which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Hurt by London Casey & Ana Fawkes was a great 5 star read.

Noah is a fighter that has ended up in prison. He can’t get the last fight night out of his head and the woman he was with. He wouldn’t have been caught if he hadn’t been looking for her, he was drawn to her and still can’t get her out of his head.

Ashlynn’s life has changed so much since the one night that she decided to be a bad girl. Her night with Noah changed everything for her and he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. Her mother is dying of cancer and her father has left them.

When Noah gets released from prison he goes on a job for his boss and comes face to face with Ashlynn, the woman he hasn’t been able to forget. In an instant his whole life changes.

Life had always been a struggle for me, understanding what the hell it all meant. Now the stakes were even higher because I actually had something to lose.

Hurt really heats up and there is so much going on. I loved how protective Noah became with Ashlynn and Jude. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. Just when you think things are finally going good another twist is thrown in. We do get to see a HEA but it was a hard fought battle to get there. I thought I was going to have heart failure a few times. If you like a great read with a hot MMA fighter and a strong female you will love Hurt. The sex between these two was also off the charts hot. Thank you for another great read.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s very fast paced, intense, suspenseful, and has some great sexy times. Noah meets Ashlyn at one of his illegal fights and they hooked up in the bathroom. When the police show up instead of following procedure like he’s supposed to, Noah goes looking for Ashlyn and gets arrested and sentenced to prison for a year. Once he gets out, he goes back to work for Benito. Settling for being the muscle and bringing in people who owe money, Noah heads out looking for a guy named Craig. Imagine his surprise when he comes face to face with the girl he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about for the last year and her son…his son.

I really enjoyed Noah’s character quite a bit. He’s sweet, loyal and protective of his new found family. He is guilt ridden for the fact that Ashlyn had to struggle through her pregnancy and delivery of Jude all alone and does everything in his power to make sure he’s there now. I felt Ashlyn was a little too trusting of Noah since she really didn’t know him to begin with and just welcomed him back with open arms. Other than that and the insta-love, I had no issues with this book. I thought it was well written with some great characters.

A fast paced suspenseful and add some.sexy scences and you have a very good read. Hurt is part of a series but can be read as a standalone and a read I don't think yo will be disappointed in. Noah is a fighter for a crime family but when he is released from prison the most important thing on his mind is to find the girl he had an unforgetable night with before he was locked up, but when his boss has other plans for him he has to takes the job and get going. Only does Noah not expect that his job leads him to his girl and his baby. Ashlynn slept with Noah and wound up pregnant a good girl who just let lose one night, only to face raising her and Noah's son on her own but when Noah shows up at her door looking for craig her life is never the same again. This is a wrll written book and the plot is well thought out and keeps you on your toes once you think you might have it figured out something comes along and knocks you back. I have enjoyed this authors books and loom forward to more.

Hurt started with strong emotions from the start and didn’t quit until it ended. Ashlynn and Noah were both so strong and emotionally charged. By the time they were together as a couple, there was nothing to stop them. Both of them stood against the bad in their lives. Noah and Ashlynn ramp up the steam in the book. Noah was that imposing bad boy figure that ultimately is butter when it’s about his family. He was really sweet and took fast to his situation with Ashlynn.

Noah and Ashlynn were two people running from danger while trying to maintain everyday living. Living being the optimum goal. Noah works for a very strong Italian family. Protecting their interests is supposed to be his first duty. Ashlynn lives for her son, Jude. When Ashlynn’s past and family crash into Noah’s job, things get really messy. Who can be trust and how to stay safe become the ultimate questions. Hurt is a stay up all night read!

Ashlynn and Noah shared one passionate moment and after that they wondered what happened to the other. Noah spent his time in jail, while Ashlynn carried and gave birth to their son Jude. Once released from prison for its business as usual that somehow leads him back to the one night stand he couldn't stop thinking about and the passion from that one night has only grown in the time they've spent apart. Once he comes to terms with his new family reality he must change his way of doing things and she must also alter hers to include him in it after being on her own for so long. While Ashlynn and Noah fall in love a mystery that neither imagined comes to light and before they can relax and enjoy life as a family they must put some grudges and old scores to rest.

It felt like deja vu, either I read a similar story or it was predictable. Don't get me wrong it was still a great story. Noah is from a Irish mother and a Italian deadbeat father, working for the Italian mob, was from a mc but th r mob destroyed the club, now he is their top fighter. One night of wild bathroom fun, half a fight and the whole police force to bust up the fighting will lead a year and a few month of changed not just for Noah but for the women he gave that on night to, Ashlynn, promising pre med student that quit school and became a hostess in a strip club. And a special gift that they made on their one night. Second chances, mob, crazy wackos, dead beat parents but a rekindle of a long missed romance. HEA, told in duel p.o.v.

I have not read a London Casey book that I didn't love. The characters are believable and you always get a full story. "HURT" is the same way. I fell in love with Noah and Ashlynn from the start. Noah, a fighter for a crime family gets caught and ends up in prison for a year. Ashlynn, the one night she decides to 'let loose', she ends up pregnant and has no idea how to contact him. They both struggle during the year apart and when they meet again there are obstacles in their way. Lots of twists and turns to read about, you won't want to put the book down. Read the book, you know there's a HEA so just enjoy the ride.

Karolyn James aka London Casey does it again with another amazing story. Hurt is the 4th book in their MMA fight series. This book could be read as a standalone. James never disappoints she had me at the beginning and held my attention from the minute Noah and AshLynn meet to when she is having the baby. James pulls you in with her details regarding each character. She has bought to life some of my favorite characters. So I suggest she take a look at Hurt because I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I totally loved this story. I love anything London Casey/Karolyn James writes. While this is book 4 in the Fight series, all are standalone novels. All of them are a must read in my opinion. London has a way with pulling her readers in and getting them hooked from the very beginning. The plot is interesting. The storyline flows smoothly throughout. The characters are well-developed and easily relatable. I loved the chemistry between Noah and Ashlynn. It's a fast paced read and one I couldn't put down once I started reading!

Life leads us down different paths. Sometimes our paths cross with someone or something that'll change our lives for the best. This is the case for Ashlynn and Noah. One night their paths cross and a year later they bump into each other, they have secrets. Not only a secret but Noah has to find Ashlynn's father, he's used her address and he owes the mob. They mean to collect by any means necessary and Noah is the collector. How does he solve this?

Exciting and intriguing, a recommended read!!

I was pulled in to this story right from the beginning and loved it! Ashlynn is a strong young woman raising her child alone and doing what she can to make that happen. There is an emotional connection to her. Noah is an intense fighter, someone that is loyal to those close to him. The danger, the bit of mystery, the intense connection between Noah and Ashlynn had me flipping pages faster. A must read!!
