Red Havoc Panthers #1

Red Havoc Rogue

Rate this book
Annalise Sutter is a newly Turned shifter determined to get her life back on track. The problem? Her inner panther is a monster that attacks anything that breathes. She’s had to let go of her old life completely to protect the people she loves, and the one thing that has kept her steady through this transition is Jaxon Barns. They’ve been texting for months, but he’s anti-shifter and she can’t tell him what she has become. When a spot on a notoriously private panther crew comes up, she jumps at the opportunity to pledge in desperation to get her animal under control. Too bad that means leaving Jaxon behind, because what human is going to put up with an out of control shifter who lives way out in the boonies?

Jaxon Barns is harboring two things—a massive grizzly in his middle and an equally big chip on his shoulder about being born a shifter. He grew up in the Gray Back Crew, but can’t seem to settle down long enough to stay in one place. The only thing that eases the ache of being a rogue are the text messages that come from Annalise. She feels like the only real thing in his life, and when she disappears mysteriously one day, he knows something has gone really wrong. Now he’ll have to track her to panther territory to save her from herself.

But maybe the panther inside of her isn’t the biggest danger to Annalise’s safety anymore. Perhaps now, the biggest threat to her future…is him.

This was a super fun, lighthearted shifter book and I really enjoyed it.

I have read a couple other books by Joyce before, but I didn't realize she had SO many books out - and as I was reading, it definitely became apparent that a lot of them are tied together - especially these shifter books.

This one was about a bear shifter and a panther shifter.

description

But apparently, there gorilla shifters, bird shifter and DRAGON shifters (which you bet your ass I will be ALL over).

That said, I was able to find the correct reading order on her website and am now going to start at the top.

I loved that Jax and Annalise shared a deep connection before they had even met. Not knowing that the other was a shifter, they delved into more intimate topics and became the person the other relied on. So when Annalise knew she had to start over in a remote part of a new town, she was sad to let Jax go. She was having trouble controlling her animal and this new crew was known for taking in broken people. And she was very broken.

Jax wasn't willing to let her go. Known as a wanderer, he had a pack, but loved the open road. So he had no trouble leaving his family and tracking down Annalise. However, when he finds her, the reception from her new pack isn't exactly warm. She's everything he could ever want, he's everything she could ever need, but her pack forbids them to be together.

I loved the way they snuck around, not able to get enough of each other. I found this story to be sweet, funny and sexy. I enjoyed meeting the members of both packs and I hope they feature in some way in other books from the series. I did want more depth in this book, hoping for a little bit more of these two as a happy couple, but I was quite content with the way everything played out.

And she does it again.

I have followed each and every crew from the very beginning, I've giggled, outright laughed my head off, cheered and smiled with tears in my eyes saddened as each crew series comes to a bittersweet end. Only to jump with joy like a kid when a new series starts. Red Havoc Rogue is the first in a new series, so of course as soon as I saw it was, this baby was all mine at a one click explosion. As I turned each page, I noticed this story was different from the rest. It was special and that there was an underlying sadness that seemed to emanate from the pages. Something not seen in the previous books. T.S. Joyce as usual you have created a story that goes beyond just a read, your books are unique and this one holds a very special piece of my heart.

Great start to a new series!

Loved seeing Beaston, Bash and Willa again from the "Gray Back Crew".

Jax and Anna a great together, and their journey a good read.

I love this author's voice, storytelling, and colorful characters.

I can't wait to read the next book in the "Red Havoc" series!

I love this writer, but this particular book just wasn't for me. I never really connected to any of the characters. They felt like replicas of previous characters in her other series. Nothing about them felt realistic or genuine. I will still check out more of this writers future work, but I don't think this series will be one I stick with.

I didn't expect this at all, this is so spectacular,  I can't believe Red Havoc Crew Wow. Damn I want to be spinned around and ? by the counter PLEASE!! This little lady has another blockbuster in a big way. Blockbuster after Blockbuster everything she writes is just absolutely golden she has the Midas touch, she just keeps writing everything turns to gold.
Annalise Sutter is a newly made panther shifter but the panther inside of her was insane, yep she was a She-Devil. Fight was what she loved best, She-Devil would take anybody on. Even the Alpha Ben of the Red Havoc Crew. But not Jaxon, no he was her life, her savior.
Jaxon Barns, aka:Jax is a Bear Shifter his bear is a brawler, grizzly shifter named Titan, he's also is a Rogue and has a twin brother named Jathan. Never being able to stay in one place too long he just had to keep going that's his way of life. Jax had a big problem he was talking to a human because he's always wanted to be with a human, if he had a choice he wouldn't let his bear out, if he could he didn't want to be his bear. Than he found out she's a shifter, it wasn't her fault she was bit. Does he leave her now that he knows she's not a human? Can he help her adjust to shifter life? Can he stay in one place long enough to help?
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Annalise Sutter (Anna) a new shifter who is unable to control her Panther, one person was able to see her through the chance and the aftermath, Jaxon Barns (Jax), but he was anti shifter, so to help herself she decides to leave him and go and join a group her brother helped her find.
Jaxon Barns is hiding two things, one he is a shifter a Grizzly, a giant one and he has not told her. He hates what he is, he grew up as part of the Gray Back crew. He also has a problem settling down.
But as fate would have it, it brings them together, will they survive what is to come, will they find what they need. You will have to read the it, suffice to say that it's a great story well writen and I am still not sure what I liked the best, the two new characters Jax and Anna or seeing the old crew, whom I grew to love. But this new crew will prove to be as fascinating as our old friends.

Back to shifter magic

Setting: West Virginia and Wyoming
Genre: Shifter erotic romance
Annalise is a shifter who was turned into a panther shifter against her will in an act of violence. She can't control her cat so her brother built her a cage room in her house so she won't kill people. Six months later, her bother found her a place with Red Havoc Crew. She had been texting with Jaxon Barns, a guy she met on an online dating site, for 4 months, but she quit suddenly when she moved to Red Havoc. He went looking for her and found trouble. Lots of trouble. And sex. Lots of sex. Then, of course, HEA.
This book is an almost perfect example of this romance sub-genre. The characters are interesting and well-rounded, the plot draws you in, and the dialogue is delightful. Sometimes filthy, but very amusing at those points. This is erotica, but not exactly. I mean, in some books, if you redacted the sex, there'd be nothing left. With this and other books I've read by this author, you could take out the sex and there would still be a strong plot. Does that mean the sex is gratuitous? Well yeah, but that's what you're looking for in this type of book.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this book is the connection to the 3 Damon's Mountains series. If you haven't read those, I recommend you do. Enjoyment of this book doesn't depend on it, but it may enhance the experience.
Okay, the biggest negative of this book? It might not bother you, but "thrusted" is not the common past tense of "thrust". Yes, it's still acceptable grammatically, but "thrusted" just stops me in my tracks. The common past tense of thrust is thrust. It's an irregular verb. Just sayin'. (I know my grammar complaints get my reviews a lot of negative reactions, but I have to vent somewhere, yeah?)

Another 5 start read. Willa and Matt's son Jaxon, is a rogue bear, always restless and the h was forcibly turned. Her cat is out of control and she needs Jaxon to keep her alive. We get a great snippet of the Gray Backs, and 1010 again. Gorgeous book with a funny couple.

Another almost alpha?

*WARNING* contains adult situations
Annalise has a very angry panther inside of her. Anna did not choose her panther, she was forced to take it, and she the animal was born of violence, it is violent. Anna doesn't want to live in a cage, but knows her She Devil can't be trusted around others. When Anna's brother found a back woods panther crew, she had to go to there to try to learn from them.
Jaxon has a secret that he doesn't want to tell Anna. Jaxon's texts from Anna are what get him through his many bad days. When Anna just disappears, he has to find her no matter the consequences.
Anna reminds me a lot of Willa from prior books. There is a lot that goes on in these stories and there is violence, but above all, these half human, half animals just want a place to call home, a place to fit in, a family even. I think that's what I like most, even though these is near constant fighting, it's still a family. No one's family is perfect. Even the seemingly serious situations, there a lightness and humor from one of the characters. I enjoyed this story very much.

Again I wish for half stars. Damnit Goodreads, just do it already!

I really enjoyed this book. I saw this on Kindle Unlimited and decided to give it a shot. I LOVE KU because you can do that (authors, honestly, you should put at least your first book on KU so we can know if we like your stuff or not).

Seriously though, I'm more into aliens and shit so shifters are not my usual thing. Although shifter aliens are hot, but these were not aliens. SIGH. Oh well.
So when I choose this book through KU, I wasn't sure why I was doing it. Oh yes, that's right. HOT MAN ON COVER. Drool.

I liked how the story felt real (enough for a paranormal story at least), the characters were realistic and I felt a connection with both Anna and Jax.
This book was hot as hell, too, and I appreciate that sort of thing. Cough.

I just wish it were longer. I did like it that much that I wished it were at least twice as long!

But I'm now going to check out more stuff from Joyce. I can't wait to read her other stuff.

Such a good first read.

I was wondering from the mention in Kane's Mountains of Brody what had happened to him, I couldn't see a book for him but did see one for a Lynn and I wasn't sure if it was the Lynn or a coincidence. Brody has turned Anna by force and so her panther is a little wild. She goes to the Red Havoc Panthers as a way to help her get back her sanity and to help her fix her panther.

She does this but not before she goes a little more deep end and has to be saved. Jax is her saviour as she is his. He is a rogue with links to gray backs which are really my favourite! I liked him straight away and I'm excited to see more of this couple in this series.

I liked that we got to see more of the Red Havoc pack. They are a bit of a hot mess, Annalise, just adds to it. Jaxon was interesting, mostly because with growing up in the Grey Back Pack he was used to shifters that are a hot mess. He would be a good addition to the pack, but the panthers are resistant. I liked that both Annalise and Jaxon wanted to be together and defied Ben. Things got ugly for a bit for them all, but after a quick trip back home to the Grey Backs for Annalise and Jaxon, things settled between them, which then allowed them to get things settled with the Red Havoc.

Annalise is a wreck; she went on a date with a guy who turned around and bit her, now she has a monster in her aptly named She-Devil by Anna. She decides to join a dating app where she meets Jax who is the only one who can keep her sane through texts. Will Jax still want her if he discovers her truth.

Jax is really into Annalise, problem is that he is anti-shifter, but is he really, or is there another reason he is claiming that?

My God, I have gotten so hooked on all of Ms. Joyce's "Crew" series!

Oh my goodness, the feels. This feels more like her older ones which made me love the genre. I loved, loved, loved seeing the Gray Backs again. Annalise had been through so much and her story broke my heart but Jax just swooped in like a badass and gave her her life back.

Good plot

Super short quick read. I would've loved it if it had been fleshed out more, but it just ended up feeling rushed instead. Still, for only $0.99, a quick novella is not a waste.

4 1/2 Stars! Great action, storyline and characters!

Contains subject matter that may be offensive or a trigger for some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.

While this story could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend it be read in order for maximum enjoyment and to prevent spoilers.

This has a lot of action, and given the act of violence that gives Annalise her panther, the story is not as dark as I e,expected. Plus it was nice to check in with some of the characters (Willa!) From Damon's mountain.

Annalise and Jaxon have been texting for the past 4 months, after connecting through a dating app. Annalise was bitten and turned into a panther shifter, but she can't control She-devil. Her brother has found an isolated panther pack that may be able to help her so she doesn't have to be caged all the time to prevent her killing someone. The worst part is she has to leave everything ehind, especially her hopes and daydreams of a life with Jaxon. Not only because she could potentially kill him, but because he is anti-shifter.

How could her heart and body hurt and long for so.some she has never met? So she sends one final test letting him know she is moving in with another man, sends a picture of her brother leaning against the car and immediately dumps her phone in water to prevent herself from contacting him again in a moment of weakness. What will Annalise do when Jaxon shows up in panther territory? Will he survive? Will her panther hurt him?

DAMON’S MOUNTAINS SERIES REVIEW

I wasn’t planning on reviewing these books at all, but given the fact that I’ve been completely OBSESSED with them for the past month, it feels wrong not to write somthing. So in the end I decided to write a general series-wide review that I’ll put up on each book—that’s right, all 48—because that’s how much fun I’ve had reading these.

Let’s do this.

OKAY listen. These books are straight up trash. They are. Romance drama trash to the max. But there’s no denying how freaking entertaining these things are. They’re hilariously funny, extremely cute, filled with action (some more than others), and packed with grade-A soap opera drama. Some of the novels are better than others, but if you need to go brainless for a while and just read something fun, these are the books you need.

All the characters are out-of-this world awesome, but the real thing that sets this series apart is the world building. Joyce has created such an elaborately rich universe with all these characters and I am 100% here for it. I love love love how everything overlaps and that we get to see all of our favorite characters even long after their books are done.

To help keep everyone straight, I even created a family tree spreadsheet like a NERD (Willa would be so proud) which you can view here. Just beware of spoilers.

Nerd alert!

FINAL WORD

These books are insane trash and I’ve loved every second. If you’re needing some laughs and romance, look no farther my friends. It’s worth the Amazon Kindle Unlimited free trial just to get your hands on these.
