Werewolf. Billionaire. Bastard. Husband? There’s no way that Taylor Stockdale is marrying her rude, arrogant, sexy boss. Unfortunately, billionaire CEO Cliff Bronson’s not the kind of man who takes no for an answer. He holds the fate of Taylor’s best friend in his hands – and he’s willing to bargain for Taylor’s hand in marriage. But he’s openly avoided her for the past year, so why is he suddenly demanding a wedding - before the next full moon? And why did he call her his “mate”? And why does everyone in the little town of Hidden Hills act so weird once a month?
Cliff Bronson has made a terrible mistake. He’d been long-distance lusting after the curvy secretary for the past year – he likes her smart mouth as much as her full figure. The second he met Taylor in person, he knew that she was his, and he knew she was a werewolf – he smelled it on her. So, as was his right, he demanded that she be his mate. Unfortunately, it turns out that Taylor has no idea of what she is, and the first rule of being a werewolf is, nobody talks about being a werewolf. Now it’s a race against time to convince her that she’s his one and only – before his pack enacts their terrible and ancient law calling for the death of any human who learns of their existence.
Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.
Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).
When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.
I couldn't figure out if he was celibate after meeting the heroine or not. With this author, chances are not, also since he was not going to pursue a human, prospects are extremely bleak! Also he slept with almost all women in his pack and packs nearby. Just imagine Christmas dinner.
Gah!!! This was difficult to get through!! Almost a DNF due to immature characters and a weak plot.
Cliff is the alpha male/CEO of the company and usually SKYPEs meetings with his assistant, Taylor. He shows up to work for an in person meeting and fuses at her for not making herself known to the pack. He then informs Taylor he has chosen her as his mate, and storms out of the room. Taylor is totally confused because she doesn't know she is a wolf.
This could have been an enjoyable read except for the flow of the dialogue and all the characters were beyond immature. Everything Cliff says is described as "growled". The wolf Elders constantly argue and no one communicates effectively. It was like watching a bunch of teenagers
When Cliff discovers his secretary has no idea she is a werewolf, he sends pack mates to investigate what pack she is from instead of just asking her. It's all over the top and overly dramatic.
I like a little drama, but am not a fan of immature, ridiculous drama. Especially ALL the drama from all the females that wanted Cliff. Cliff admits to having slept with most females of the pack and many others from different packs. It was too much like reality trash tv for my taste.
Smelly times are great, but I'm not a fan of hot sex between couples that can't talk to each other or show intimacy outside of the bed.
There was a bad guy and a convoluted plot that made little sense. I have no desire to finish this series.
The Good -Kindle Unlimited, so it’s in my book budget.
-Body positive BBW romance. I always enjoy a BBW romance that doesn’t spend alot of time making the heroine feel bad for being a big girl, because fuck that noise. Here, Cliff is attracted and loves Taylor just as she is. Sigh. He meets her when she works as a receptionist at one of his companies, and he has found every excuse to interact with her. Once he meets her, of course he realizes she is his true mate and promptly tells her they’re hooking up. Taylor has no idea that she’s a werewolf, which combined with his less than skillful wooing leads to misunderstandings, misadventures and eventually romance. After he battles in the Alpha Trials to remain leader of his pack of course.
-Interesting ‘verse. The strongest part of a St. Clair shifter book is always the detail she can infuse in her ‘verses. She sets up some interesting scenarios for all of them, and they’re not carbon copies which is cool. I do think she can get lost in the details and overload the story with a bunch of plot threads that I wanted to snip. But that’s just me.
-Humor and friendships set up in believable manner. The second thing I usually like is the friendships between the heroine and her female friends. Taylor and her friend Chantelle have good chemistry and in general, I think the scenes featuring the interaction between Taylor and Cliff’s pack is filled with some good humor and made the story flow well.
-Plenty o’ sex.If you’re into sex scenes, there are a sufficient amount and it is not fade to black.
The Bad & Everything in Between
-Romance is usually the weakest part and this is no exception. I’m never that drawn to the romances in a St. Clair book for some reason. The sex is fine, but it’s not a substitute for an emotional connection. I liked Taylor and Cliff, but I wasn’t head over heels over them.
-There’s always an EV-ILL bad guy/girl. It’s exhausting after a while to read nothing but cartoonish adversaries. I’ve seen alot of it and it doesn’t add that much to a story. I’d love some more time spent creating a more nuanced villain rather than depending on the usual “mean girl wants my man” or “he’s Satan in a fur suit” villain.
-Convoluted wrap up. The way the Alpha Trials are taken care of felt unfolds like Twister and seemed almost anti-climactic.
I enjoyed it, even if I enjoyed the ‘verse more than the romance.
"The Billion-were Needs A Mate" by Georgette St. Clair is the first book in "The Alpha Billion-weres" series. This paranormal romance follows the story of Taylor, a curvy secretary, who works for Cliff, a billionaire CEO and werewolf. Taylor has fantasized about Cliff for a year; he is sexy, arrogant, and also her boss - oh, and a werewolf, it turns out. Cliff has likewise been lusting for Taylor, and when they meet in person, his need for her becomes unbearably strong. She is his mate. This book was short, sweet, and very entertaining, with werewolf rules, secrecy, an alpha “competition”, and several unexpected love connections in the pack. What’s not to like? 🌕🐺💕 3.75 ⭐️’s
This book had so many half-assed conflicts they all combined to make this almost unbearable.
🔻 The slept-with-MMC-twice-and-became-a-stalker psycho ex 🔻 The I-want-to-be-alpha tantrum throwing, wife-beating, wants to r*pe a 14 y.o, has the most obvious sabotage plans uncle 🔻 The ancients laws that don't allow them to use truth magic on the alpha contestant (seriously, why? it won't affect them during the competition) 🔻 Catty women left and right 🔻 Three brothers that love each other but pretend to hate each other for stupid reasons 🔻 Evil elders that want things to be bad... for reasons? 🔻 Random laws that keep popping just to make life easier for the villains, but would have no reason to exist if their actual goal was to keep werewolves secret.
and as if the alpha trial drama wasn't enough there's a random kidnaping 90% in with 🔻 A crazy, I-want-power human secretly turning himself a werewolf 🔻 And his crazy, evil psycho father.
Instead of leaving us to our misery with all that mess of a plot, the author brought this sentence into existence:
He French kissed her p*ssy.
⏭ 50% in I listened to this x 1.60 to finish it because... I don't know. I feel as if this book would've won if I had DNF'd.
One more book that's making me wonder if the audible subscription is worth the price...
Cliff Bronson always kept his distance from his employee, Taylor Stockdale. When he finds out she actually is a wolf shifter too he makes his play for her. However Taylor has no idea she is carrying the wolf gene and that someone changed her unknowingly. Cliff is still on making Taylor his mate but he also needs to find out who is creating wolf shifters and there is still the Alpha race that is going on. Can he keep Taylor safe and win the race?
This was a lot of fun. I liked that Taylor was sassy and thought the way she gets pulled into Cliff's world was hilarious. What a way to kick off a series.
3.4 stars. I know I marked it lower but I also really enjoyed this book! It’s such a weird mix of really immature conflicts with thoughtful dialogue and interactions. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. We have some of the stereo typical alpha male manwhore dude, but he was totally willing to listen to her and be respectful.
I appreciated that the heroine was able to stand up for herself throughout the book.
There is weird drama with both main characters having stalker-like exes.
It was a good time and I wouldn’t say no to this author. Perhaps she matured in her writing?
3 🌟🌟🌟 - An inoffensive, but fairly bland addition to the wolf shifter genre which you’re unlikely to remember is a few weeks time.
There’s nothing particularily wrong with this book, but then there’s nothing great about it either. It brings nothing new to the genre and feels very much like a paint by numbers story, with the character names being added in to a tried and tested formula.
For the most part the protagonists Taylor and alpha Cliff are pretty boring. There’s a lot of missed opportunities in the plot, which could have had Taylor and Cliff having a much more challenging start to their relationship, instead of the token issues shared. Also the alpha challenge could have been much more interesting and the sub-plot of how Taylor was turned is woefully under-used. In many ways the novel is trying to do too much Chantel’s story would have been better as a standalone sequel, rather than being hastily added into the middle of an already crowded plot. There were too many potential enemies throughout and I didn’t like how the brothers were at each other’s throats either.
The novel is not badly written, but it lacks any oomph. Definitely feels phoned in for the pay check and I’m unlikely to recall many of the characters and events of the story in a month or so. But it wasn’t a bad listen while I was tidying the house.
I wanted to finish this book. I'd put it down last week, deciding to read something else, thinking I'd get back to it later... Well, it's later, and I don't care enough about the story, characters, or their relationship to keep reading. I really wanted to like it--the premise is my sexy jam, but it was poorly done. No tension, no real chemistry, the heroine is one-dimensional and bends in the slightest wind, and I just couldn't care about what was happening.
I read this book over a year ago and I forgot about it. I recently read the “Starcrossed Dating Agency” series by this author, which I loved btw, and decided to read more by her.
When I started this book I was surprised that I had read this whole series before and completely forgot about it! I decided to reread it and after finishing and checking my review history I saw that I hadn’t left one for this book and so here it is.
I did enjoy this book the first time I read it. However, I found it was more a lite story then I had went into it thinking it was for a full length book. And so I was confused about it. Having reread it and having read another series by this author, I now see that’s the type of writing she does. If you are looking for typical dark paranormal romance with this author or series you won’t get it.
Yes, this story has characters that say they had horrible histories but the author doesn’t focus on that in her writing. She focuses on the positive things they do to never let it happen to someone else in her book universes. She doesn’t drag out there pain to make the story intense for the reader. She doesn’t focus on the “DRAMA”. She focuses on the romance. The getting to know you, falling in love romance of the characters.
In some places, mostly the endings, the author does rush the storyline a bit, otherwise, it’s a sweet reading experience. The focus is on love and joy, more then pain and misery like other paranormal romances. Likable characters, very funny dialogue and inner thoughts, more like a short story feel to her books but better because it’s a full length book.
Anyway, it’s worth a shot if you want easy reading. Enjoy!
I enjoyed this book, even with its predictability. The plot was decent, there was plenty of action and the romance was hot. I also liked the snarky female characters and alpha males. All and all it was a good story.
Well. Huh, so I read this. Werewolves seemed like a good start. And some of the writing was quite good. But to get to those bits you had to deal with a heroine who sounded 12 half the time, wade through dialog that made our uber-alpha, werewolf billionaire sound like a tween girl, slog through rote characterizations (Shelley, Jerrold, & most of the other secondary characters were cartoons, not characters), and then suspend disbelieve that the pack owned a bajillion acres of fenced & guarded land, on which they built a werewolf Peyton Place.......oy.
This book gave the reader a story but it lacked heart & soul, emotional punch, and a commitment to pacing & character development. The wolves deserved better.
Ok, so I just want to say that I love Georgette St Clair books. It’s always a blast to become immersed in the world she creates... but this book was just not doing it for me. The story was cute and all but I just didn’t like the feel of it. Like, it felt rushed and not very believable (I know it’s a werewolf story lol but still). The sex scenes were good. The characters were funny. But the overall storyline felt dry or like I was missing something. I’m going give the next book in the series a try and hope for better. Overall, it’s a quick read, not horrible but not great.
It was okay. I didn't really feel the romantic connection between the two main characters. The characters throughout the book were very one dimensional. I'm not sure if I wasn't paying enough attention, but it seemed multiple times that the author got confused about characters and names. Despite all that, it was still an enjoyable read. I'm on the fence between 2 and 3 stars.
An easy read. The plot was just enough to progress the book, not a page turner. The characters were flat. The romance was tepid. I like that the protagonist was a bbw but I feel it was a gimmick. Other than a few "i love all of you" and "don't be ashamed of your body"s, she could have been the typical heroine. There were several typos and grammatical errors that I was disappointed to see.
It took forever for me to finish this book given how short it was. The book was a very slow read interrupted with intense sex scenes. After a while the sex scenes couldn't overcome the lack of character development. The plot took a bizarre turn at the end. I was truly disappointed as I have enjoyed other books by this writer.
Started out as an easy read but as it progressed became even more superficial with what appeared to be story elements thrown in without a lot of thought. A couple of times I did think about giving up. Shame as I have read other books in the past by this author which I have enjoyed.
Wow! Terrible! "Sticky-finger dreams" and all! Got an extra star because it was short and I laughed at some of the romantic moments. Where was the romance? Where was the build up? Where was anything except stockholm syndrome?
The title is misleading, as he doesn't really need one. The story was uninspired and a lot like most other BBW meets millionaire alpha-books. It did have some good points, but mostly I'd call it a waste of time.
The Billion-were Needs A Mate is one of those stories where the action hits almost immediately and doesn’t let up until the final page. Taylor has no clue that she’s been turned and dropped right into the middle of the craziest, most dangerous world she could ever have imagined. Cliff knows he’s found his mate. He’s been in touch with Taylor through Skype concerning her job for almost a year now. His attraction to her is growing each day until he’s made the decision to go get his werewolf mate in person. His plate is pretty full with the Alpha Trials to determine the new alpha of his pack, some very annoying contenders for that title staying at the estate, brothers acting up and now the unreasonable urge to go claim Taylor as his mate immediately has Cliff quite on edge. His shock at Taylor’s reaction to his claim is almost humorous until it becomes clear that Taylor has no idea what he’s talking about, she does’t know she’s a werewolf as well… and he’s just outed a community of paranormal beings with rules from hundreds of years ago intact that says outsiders are to be killed if they learn of werewolves. Yeah, just another day at the office for them both.
Since this is the first story in the series there is some world building, yet it falls naturally through descriptions and the introduction of characters as well as dialogue. I never felt overpowered by what I was learning as it flowed quite easily. There are several characters to meet. Obviously the villain is one slimy piece of crap, but he’s not the only one to watch out for. Humor is very much alive and well in Cliff and Taylor’s romance as their one liners are such fun, and several other characters definitely have that verbal magic touch. Some of the characters we meet will have their full stories told at some point in the future, for now they are part of our couple’s world as we learn more about them all.
I had such fun with The Billion-were Needs A Mate. Taylor and Cliff are without question an alpha couple to contend with, close friendships, mysteries, danger and definitely sexy times make this a story that any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader will want to dive into. I would recommend this one and I’m already watching for the announcement of the next story’s publication date. I can’t wait to get back into their world.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. The best ten bucks I spend a month.
The Billion-were Needs A Mate The Alpha Billion-weres Book 1 by Georgette St. Clair ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fascinating story! First it's a very emotional story. But don’t get me wrong this is a spectacular read. This story takes us on a journey told from two perspectives Taylor Stockdale and Cliff Bronson. Taylor is a BBW and she is the secretary for billionaire CEO Cliff Bronson. Taylor has crush on her boss even though all she has done is talk to him on the phone and Skype with him on the office computer. Cliff Bronson has lust for his secretary for over a year. But as she is human he has to keep his distance. Until one day Cliff Bronson felt he has made a terrible mistake and he never make a mistake. Taylor has a secret too, she has been taking the company products for her bff who is sick. I always enjoy reading Georgette St. Clair books, she is a gifted and talented author. The story has humor, passion, mystery and romance. I enjoy her writing she write such interesting scenarios that are scorching hot. The characters are funny, witty, passionate, exciting and fantastic. I enjoy the friendships with it's humor, contrariety, loyalty and love that's so believable. I know that some may not enjoy how bossy the Alpha is but if you enjoy reading about Shifters you know they are protective, bossy and love their fated mate forever. But then I enjoy the secondary characters even the evil and bad characters they all make the story enjoyable.I highly recommend this story and I voluntarily reviewed this book, because I love sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers.
Voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
I really enjoyed this book! Aside from a couple of typos which I know will be caught before its released, I liked it. Its a little different than her usual shifter books. I mean if you read her Timber Valley or Mating Game books then you'd know this is slightly grittier. In my opinion. Which I kinda loved. We don't have a perfect male hero. He's an asshole, jerk, bastard, unfeeling...you name it. He's an Alpha through and through and makes NO apologies for it. Its what he has to be. He comes in barreling into Taylor's workplace being all demanding. Well...she puts him in his place and THAT was priceless! Awesome! I really liked her but there were times she didnt know what she was feeling. In her defense her life was changing and she was freaking out. Her hormones were off the chart because she was changing into a wolf. She succumbed to doing the dirty with Cliff fairly quickly but she did make him wait a little. Wanted him to understand some things. His Beta tried really hard to get him to understand how Taylor was feeling cause you know he's mated and has cubs. It took some time but Cliff came around. He really is a good guy. His brothers were something else. I really hope there is more because I'd like for them to get stories too! Quite an enjoyable read!
Very hard to finish as none of the “pack politics” make any sense as everyone seems ok with leaving getting a dictator as a ruler up to chance.
They seem to play loose with killing people I’m surprised that the main villain and the Elders who sided with him weren’t made to disappear in the night.
Everyone is a pushover and only causes more trouble for seemingly no reason. Like their is a whole pack of wolves about to be abused by this psychopath but everyone listens to their crappy elders who are ok with it because… plot device.
I’m infuriated about the amount of power a challenger has over this crappy “pack”. Like I get that he has a claim but the elder act like he is the current Alpha with the amount of power they give him to take prisoners and cover others in diplomatic immunity.
There dumb archaic rules should have gotten them exposed long ago, like how the hell do they imagine kidnapping/killing anyone who walks on their property will go?

It's a good read, decent plot to follow. OK, I really read it for easy smut and that was great. Nothing to intense just steamy. The story is a simple one, one seen in many Mate shifter books. Alpha wants their mate, something needs doing before they can do it, there is a villain or antihero and a struggle to balance the task and getting their mate. In this book the struggle to get the mate was not that hard, the twist as to how she became a shifter is a little weird...more Psychotic than evil genius...but I was still surprised though. overall a good read...doesn't make me want to jump right onto the next book, I just know they are there when I want to read them...but I'm not hurrying onto what happens to Grant. It reminded me of the Wild Pack series by Alisa Woods....but that one us better in other ways which is why I'm like...okay book 🤷🏿♀️ 3.6 stars
I loved this book. Cliff is a ruggedly handsome dominating alpha wolf. He wants Taylor is his mate is loved her for over a year but he thought she was human. She knew nothing about werewolves that she was shocked when she found out about it and no one knows how she became a werewolf. When she has to go to his estate just in case she tells anybody and And wait out the Alpha trials she gets her fantasy on. The book was really cool it was kind of long and long winded and places but it was needed so that you would know what was going on and I'm sure the next two brothers will have books and I hope it will be soon. Great read
Another great start to a new series. This was a bit slow starting off for me but it soon really found it’s rhythm and I loved the story. Taylor was a great heroine, feisty and smart, two of my favourite things. She did not just roll over for Cliff. Cliff just didn’t know what hit him when Taylor gave him what for and never accepted that he was her better. He really had to step back and rethink his attitude. So much intrigue, carrying on, and plain twists I wondered what should happen next. Cannot wait to read both Austin and Grants stories. I hope Mandy is in there too. This is my honest review of this book.
Cliff is a rich werewolf but not many know that. Taylor is a receptionist that works in his office. Taylor is a curvy girl just like Cliff loves. She thinks she's just in lust with Cliff because he's so gorgeous so he decides he's going to let her know how he really feels. There is trouble in Cliffs pack he's been challenged for Alpha by his two brothers and his uncle. There are going to be trials to seek who will become Alpha and before that happens there will be kidnappings, stealing, lying and wolf turning and let's not forget the fighting.
