Stranded by a hurricane. Check. Hotel secured. Check. Hot guy to share it with. Check. No, wait. Not him!

A tough girl with an awkward flirt-game, Claire has long ago given up on catching the eye of Irish hottie Conor and she refuses to change. If he doesn't like her as is, then screw him.

A loner workaholic too busy to notice, Conor isn't looking to nail the next chick--even one as hot as Claire--just his next bonus-earning presentation.

But when a hurricane strands them in Atlanta and they're forced to shack up in the same hotel room for several days, things tend to get…exposed.

DESERVING IT is a steamy, standalone romantic comedy from RITA Winning and USA Today bestselling author Angela Quarles with a happy-ever-after and no cheating or cliffhangers.

2.5 - I love all his expressions… Stars.

We return to Angela Quarles hugely enjoyable Stolen Moments series with the third book Deserving It giving us Conor and Claire’s story.

I'm starting to see that opening up to someone isn't necessarily a bad thing...

This book had so much potential, the author has a snappy entertaining writing style, and I absolutely adored its predecessors and characters because of it. But for me the Angela lost the story through the over exaggeration of Conor being Irish. Coming from the UK I would like to think I have at least an average grasp of the language used by the Irish, and I literally spent 40% of the book not understanding what he was saying, and another 40% working it out even though it had been botched together and sometimes ridiculously so. One of my pet peeves is authors trying to being in an accent or type of dialect particular to a specific country/region, and then completely butchering it and the author did it with bells on, on this occasion.

I highlighted so much of this book, for the wrong reasons, and I have put the Greatest Hits below –

~ Christ bleeding on the cross.
~ “Chill the beans, now there. Didn’t mean for you to take a hopper.”
~“My bleeding mobile is bleeding after me.”
~‘diddies’
~“dead feek?”
~“What the bleeding hell? You’ve got a maggoting idea there, you have.”
~Muppeting plonker.

I could go on (and on), it verged on the ridiculous a lot of the time, and I spent so long at points trying to decipher what the author was attempting to get across, the actual story between the pair of them became secondary. The use of Bleeding and Fecking/Feck was just too much as well. I may be wrong, and if you are Irish and reading this review, please do correct me if the above selection is common speak, but as a reader, no matter the characters country of birth, although I appreciate an author attempting to be authentic in the language, I still want to be able to understand what is being said and not get distracted from the actual story because of it.

"Challenge accepted."

That said, and annoying language aside I really liked Claire (feisty) and Connor (adorable), another couple stuck in an unusual situation together, that then kick-starts a relationship. Both of them have their own demons they are dealing with, and I like the fact they both complimented each other in that area.

"The storm might have thrown us together in this room, but it’s not why I’m in this bed with you."

Although not an outright winner on this occasion, I still want to read more from this series and this author, and I look forward to reading whoever’s story she decides to write next.

Conor is the captain of a men's hurling team and Claire is a member of the women's team, she has fancied him from afar for ages but got no traction, until a cancelled flight in a storm brings the two of them together. Sharing a hotel room lets them get to know each other better and a competitive game of strip poker when the electricity goes out takes things to a new level.

This is the third book in a series, I haven't read the other two books and this can be read as a stand-alone, although I wonder how much back story to Claire and Conor's romance would be explained in them. Both Conor and Claire have issues with their mothers - issues that aren't really explored more, they come off as an after-thought.

The first chapter of the book assumes you have read the preceding books and just launches into a dialogue between players, the morning after winning the playoffs but all becomes clear.

Conor is Irish and Angela Quarles doesn't want us to forget it, every single sentence he utters seems to have some Irish brogue or 'saying'. I'm English and I've worked with Irish people, even ones with heavy accents and I've not heard half the things that Conor says on a regular basis. After a while it became a bit boring TBH, we get that he's Irish just ease up on the brogue!

Most of the action takes place in a very short period of time while Conor and Claire are in the hotel room and the resulting effect is one of claustrophobia with a lot of sex.

I have had Angela Quarles' Must Love Chainmail on my Amazon wishlist forever so when I saw this book available for request on NetGalley I jumped at the chance. Overall, while this was okay it didn't really grab me and I'm not sure I would want to read the previous books in the series.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Bumped for release.

Cute and entertaining read. It’s the third installment in the series but can totally be read as a standalone. Claire is a feisty, tough woman that built walls around herself so as to avoid being hurt. She’s had a crush on Conor since they first met but thought he didn’t really like her type so she pretty much gave up on him. That is until they are stranded together in the middle of a hurricane and then some truths come to light.
I liked the interaction and easy banter between Claire and Conor once they opened up to each other. Even though she wanted more than just a fling, she knew how and when to set boundaries, and never allowed Conor to treat her as if she didn’t have a mind of her own. Then again I was kind of put off by the way she behaved at times. I’ll explain more with a *spoiler* heading later. I also would have loved if the relationship had blossomed in the span of more than just a few days. Not saying it was forced, only that’s how I would have liked it. Both characters are complex and thorough yet their backstories felt unfinished, as if it was there only to feel in the gaps. Perhaps if the story was longer and we had spent more time with the main characters outside the stranded situation, it would have felt more complete. As it is, I can say it may not have fallen in the WOW category but it was still enjoyable.

**I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.**

This third book in the Stolen Moments series was just as delightful as the first two! I wasn’t quite looking forward to this book as much I was the last two in the series (Earning It and Risking It), because the main characters here were two of my less favorite to appear prior to this: Claire and Connor. Unlike Pepper & Luke and Jane & Aiden, these two seemed a little more abrasive... But they both proved to be totally darling characters!

Once again, this tale was told in alternating perspective, from his point of view and then hers, changing by chapter. I usually don’t like this method of storytelling, because I tend to find it rather confusing. But the author clearly labelled their individual sections, as well as very easily gave each of the characters their own distinctive voice...

There was quite a bit less action in this tale due to the limitations of its creation, i.e. basically being stranded in a hotel room during a hurricane. Just about every scene in the story was entertaining though... The strip-poker scene was amazing, and the other love scenes nearly equally as hot.

Since this story is about the captains of the hurling team and the female equivalent camogie, I was quite worried that there would be an awful lot of sports situations and lingo this time around. In fact, however, there was even less reference to the games than in the prior editions. Something that pleased me as a non-sports fan.

I definitely recommend this great read, and the others in the series as well. I am totally bummed that this the last book in the series! I wish the author were continuing it with ALL the members of the hurling team, just so that I could live a few moments longer in this delightful world she has created.

I received a free eBook version of this title from the Author and from NetGalley, and have willingly provided an honest review.

This story has a bit of everything. I like that. It is a romance love story and I liked it very much. Two characters that have their reasons to have build walls around their hearts. They open up and are both afraid of being hurt. They have to take their future in stead of living in their past.

Well written story with a nice storyline and plot. I like that the characters and how they develop.
A passionate and emotional read with twists.

It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. The epilogue is very welcomed and gives the story more to it and it finishes it better of than without it.
There are passion, hot scenes and lots of chemistry in this amazing story.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well-rounded, pleasurable plot with some serious thought provoking moments as well as a little humor. The Hurricane provides them with the opportunity to get to know one another on a very friendly level, lol. Conor is genuine and considerate, not to mention super sexy and just what Claire deserves.

Trigger warnings: recovering bulimic (talk of purging in the past, one instance of desire to purge on the page)

I’ve very much enjoyed Ms. Quarles’ Stolen Moments series, so I was very excited to get a chance to read this one! While I’ve read the previous two books, I think it could work as a standalone.

Conor is the exceedingly Irish ginger captain of the men’s hurling team, and Claire is the captain of the women’s camogie team (pretty much the same sport as hurling). Claire’s had a crush on Conor since she first saw him, but figured he had no interest in her. Unbeknownst to her, Conor’s also had a crush on her since that first meeting. After their respective playoffs in Atlanta, Claire and Connor’s flight back to Florida is cancelled due to a hurricane. With the entire airport closed, they’re forced to share a hotel room. The forced intimacy makes both of them realize they’re interested in each other, and, helped along by a game of strip poker, sparks fly.

“Of course, visions of us later in the game pop into my increasingly fevered imagination. Her sprawling on the couch in just her bra and knickers. And one sock. Why the fuck I’m after imagining one sock on, I have no idea.”

I personally adore seeing recovering characters, and I especially loved Claire. Part of her journey in the story is understanding that she’s moved from recovering to recovered, and as someone who had an eating disorder as a teen, I thought it was exceedingly well done. While Claire is strong, she’s also very empathetic and sensitive, so, in the past she’s had a tendency to place others’ (especially her mother’s) wants above her own needs. Part of her healing process has been cutting her mother out of her life, and also being assertive about being in control as often as possible. Control can be a funny thing, especially for a teen girl, and one of the insidious appeals of eating disorders is that it gives you the illusion of control over some portion of your life. While Conor is willing to cede control in the bedroom, Conor’s normal take-charge attitude feels like a test of Claire’s strength.

“Before, when he was my secret crush, it was easy for me to be smug about my strength. It wasn’t being tested.
But now that I’ve been with him? And it was the hottest sex I’ve ever had? How can I keep my walls intact if we actually date? I’ll get attached. I’ll want to morph to please him. I’ll want everything.”

Conor, on the other hand, is motivated by guilt. He feels that he needs to ace his work presentation to nab a bonus that he can send back home to help his sister out on the family farm. His long term Irish girlfriend – who’d known him since they were babies – told him he was “lacking” when she broke up with him. His need to provide value, to help, the “superhero-save-the-day,” to be “enough” – in work or in his relationships – is sincere, but misguided. Of course, it takes an erroneous assumption to make him go a step too far to realize that his value doesn’t lie in what help he can provide.

As for cons, Conor’s accent was just too much at times. The occasional “Jaysus” was fine, but at times reading things like “dead feek” and “gowl, muppeting plonker” (one of those is positive, by the way, go ahead and try to figure out which) was like decoding a foreign language. Ms. Quarles’ writing is usually snappy and witty, so I found the overuse of some of the grammatical constructs and Irish-isms disappointing, as it kept breaking up the pace of the writing for me. Also, I would’ve liked to see more of Claire and Conor together after the resolution of the conflict. It felt like I needed that emotional payoff of seeing them as a happy couple in a healthy relationship after all the struggles they went through!

Overall, though, I still loved this book, and am eagerly waiting for the next in the series! Recommended for anyone who wants a hot, witty, sporty romance with a large dose of Irish!

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

5 big burly and Irish loving stars for DESERVING IT!

Claire Hitchins has been crushing on Conor McDaid since she met him a few years ago. As captains of the Sarasota women's and men's hurling teams, respectively, the two are around each other a lot. But Conor hasn't given her the time of day. Hell, even if he did, Claire is too damaged to get involved, because she and casual don't mix well. But when the two are stranded in Atlanta during a freak hurricane heading a little too far inland and are forced to share a room, the walls start coming down for them both. A game of strip poker and some candlelit meals later, the two have the makings of something great. If only they could remain in their little bubble.

If you're anything like me, when you come across something you know nothing about when reading, you immediately google that bad boy and try to get some rudimentary knowledge. I hope that, unlike me, you're able to avoid getting sucked into the interwebs void, gleefully watching the Fleetwood Mac color guard video over and over, subsequently downloading the entire 40 year old album and playing it incessantly.

I digress.

Anyway, hurling. Look it up, this shit is cray! It's an ancient (3,000 years ancient) sport that, to me, looks like an insane mix of lacrosse, baseball, hockey, golf and soccer, worked with a long wooden spoon/samurai sword device. I watched videos and still can't totally understand what the hell is happening. But, now I can at least understand what madness Claire and Conor were into.

The first book in this Stolen Moments series was most excellent, and Ms. Quarles kicked just as much ass in DESERVING IT. Claire was a complicated character, and I felt for her unhealthy obsessions and need for control as she dealt with her feelings toward Conor. Conor, for his part, tried to stay away from emotional complications, which plagued him his entire life. They make a great match, since he needed someone to be protective and kind of obsessed with him, and she needed someone who liked her for her quirky, athletic, fierce self and didn't want her to change.

This book was frickin' hilarious, too, and the humpty humpin was erotic and fun and sexy as sin. Witness:

I'm not quite sure how to be reading this situation. Part of me hopes she's meaning what I think she is…

Of course, visions of us later in the game pop into my interestingly fevered imagination. Her sprawling on the couch in just her bra and knickers. And one sock. Why the fuck I'm after imagining one sock on, I have no idea.

LOVES. Pick DESERVING IT up today, and don't miss out on the first book, Earning It, either, you won't be sorry!!

Bottom Line: No OM/OW or sharing; condom use; no BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; no violence/murder.

OMG!! Angela Quarles Did it Once Again in DESERVING IT!! Plus I Devoured this Book in ONE DAY!! Conor and Claire's Story just Blows you away- literally! It's Funny, Witty and Card Game Sexy! Throw in a Hurricane warning, delayed Flights going back home & only One Last Available hotel Room in Town! It will have you wanting to know what is going to happen between a Sexy Tech Player & a Controlling "Keeps-her-Walls Up" Tough Girl.
Missing their Flights back home to Sarasota, Conor needs to get back home for a work promotional presentation but finds himself stranded in Atlanta Airport after learning of a hurricane heading their way. He bumps into Claire there after learning they have the same flight delayed and she has the Only Hotel Room available after unsuccessful getting one for himself. So Conor propositions her about him coming to "bunk" with her to "ride out" the Huge storm since now their flights are Now Canceled & wanting to get a good night's sleep. Claire tells him No and walks off, leaving him frozen on the Stop in a crowded airport. She finally agreed after learning her hotel room got upgraded to a suite & her guilty conscience of leaving him there after playing his championship game the day before which he must be exhausted. After a frightening 5am wake-up alarm goes off on both their phones but comes to find out its an Emergency Alert blaring letting them both know the airport is shutting down all flights. "Hurricane Claire" made landfall north of Savanah and it is heading to Atlanta so they find themselves stuck there for at least a day.
This Book has All the feels of uncertainty of each other feelings, humor of two people comfortable/ uncomfortable with each other and the sexual Chemistry is off the Charts HOT!! I Loved DESERVING IT (#3) along with RISKING IT (#2) & EARNING IT (#1) from the Stolen Moments series but ALL Can be Read as Standalones. Conor will have you Melting your Hearts & your Panties with his Scottish accent! Claire has overcome past issues but still working on herself after childhood pressure to be "perfect" that enables her self-confidence. Conor and Claire certainly give you a Rollercoaster Ride of Raw Emotions that leave you wanting to hit the people that hurt them the most and HOT & BOTHERED!!! Plus I will NEVER LOOK AT A SLICE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE THE SAME AGAIN!! A MUST READ BOOK!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I really think this series peaked with the first book, which is a shame, since I really enjoyed the author's story in the Some Like It Geek Anthology. In particular, the story lacked spark and felt rushed to me.

Claire and Conor have been wanting each other for a while now, but not acting on it until their forced together by a hurricane. It seemed like they were in their own little bubble, which would have worked great, except for the fact that all they focused on was a sexual relationship. Claire has a pretty big secret, which is the reason behind some of her actions while in the hotel room, but it's only used in the context of arousing Conor. While I'm no prude, it didn't seem like the book took enough advantage of the forced companionship for them to open up to one another. There was also very little of the sport mentioned. No mention of going to the hotel gym to continue with training regimes, no mention of a comparison between the womens and mens teams, nothing. It didn't make sense to me to have them both be in this sport and not talk about it!

All things considered, I would have liked it to be a longer read. It's great for the beach, if you don't expect too much from it. I'll be wary of this author's work in the future, I think.

I’m not a great fan of romance which begins with characters hiding their feeling for each other because they assume the one is not interested!
And after it is mostly whining about what if and what what...
So I was very glad this book was so far different.
Yes, both thought the other had no interest in the other one, but here stops the similarities.
I must confess I considered during the first chapters to take a break in my reading, but I engaged myself to read this book, then came chapters 7, and I was game, drat!
It is a standalone read but I supposed reading the previous books might add some enlightenment about the beginning and some banters between the different protagonists.
Conor and Claire are two wounded people, which explains how they act around. They have flaws too but once they have an aim fixed, they go straight to it.
I also really loved Conor’s expressions, they are so different from how all men talk in English romance.
I won’t sum up the book, the blurb does already a good job, but I will add it is a very fast paced story, all happens in a window of a few days.
But with intense characters, you have an emotionally charged story.
In the short time the plot is set, we have the time to explore two great persons. We learn about their past, how they became who they are and we see how they accept to let the other inside their own walls.
A lovely story of acceptance, growing up and healing.

I received this book as an ARC, so here is my true and honest opinion.

Sweet mother Irish….

This is the third in the Stolen Moments series and once again girl and boy (woman and man sounds too awkward though true) are caught up in close quarters not entirely of their making. The same premise, perhaps, but a story made entirely their own…

Conor is driven to succeed to ensure he can always be there financially for his family. A bit of Catholic guilt, maybe, but no one can fault him for his devotion or that Irish lilt. Combine that with his love of sport, his sexiness and all-around nice guy-ness, he is the entire package… Claire has two left feet when it comes Conor. Thinking she was rejected, she acts accordingly, causing one miscommunication to lead to another. Thrown together, they have the opportunity to clear the air and get closer than they’ve ever been…

A classic storyline told with a sweet, funny and endearingly awkward delivery. If you are looking for flirty and fun, then this series, this story, is just what you need!

LOL (yet so true):
“Oh, and I mentioned he’s Irish, right? Cuz, yeah, his accent doesn’t do it for me at all…Lilts right up to my lady parts and gives ‘em a little tingle.”

4/5

Deserving It is the third book in the Stolen Moments series that feature the men who play in a hurling league. This one takes place after the playoffs in Atlanta and feature Conor and Claire who are stuck in Atlanta due to a hurricane. We've met both Claire and Conor in previous books and their interest in each other was hinted at but now, with Deserving It, we get to see it play out. Overall Deserving It was quite fun - seeing the softies inside their prickly personalities. Exploring some of the underlying issues that made them put their walls up to begin with. It's smart and realistic - especially the feelings, actions, and thoughts of Claire and her issue. My only complaint is that I read it too fast. (A sign of a good book if you ask me). I also would have liked to see some sort of epilogue or them together back home. However, I did read an Advanced Copy of this book so it may have since been added.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.

After I read the first two books in this series, I said I couldn't wait to read Conor's story and it doesn't disappoint! I loved the Irish "slang" and it was so well written that I could actually hear his words with that distinct Irish brogue. I loved Claire when we were first introduced to her and I love her even more after reading Deserving It. This was a quick, fun, sexy, surprisingly emotional read for me. After reading all 3 books in this series, I will definitely be reading more from this author! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

I received an ARC from the author; this is my honest review.
-Fun read, lovable couple, great sex scenes even though Claire likes to control and Conor lets her in his own controlling way.
-Believable situations. Drama and miscommunication taken care of in a timely matter - no stretching, which becomes old.
-It was a nice touch to hear about what they do outside hurling and that they are interested in other sports too.
-A bit of confusion: Claire has never seen an uncircumcised penis before. Are all American circumcised, then? Certainly not here in Canada.

“I swear to God, his Irish accent acts like some kind of aphrodisiac, rolling over me in seductive waves. His th’s come out as t’s, so everything is everyting with a little aspiration that’s like little happy sighs to my ears. Gah.”

Quarles nailed the Irish lilt in her writing of Deserving It. I couldn’t help but read her written words with an accented voice in my head that wasn’t my own. This book was a quick read chucked full of steamy bits of a snap shot of what can happen between two people in the stretch of a few days. It’s a fun divergence for the imagination for a rainy afternoon or lazy weekend.

I loved the vocabulary and accent Conor had, “I won’t be saying no to that, but you’re acting like you’ve never seen a man’s wire before.” Conor obviously needs to work on his gift giving, "she looks in the plastic bag. Closes it. Then looks up at me, confused. “You got me panties? White panties?” I liked this book, it was a fun read I fell in love with Conor the man was every woman's dream.

Angela just keeps getting better

Deserving It may be the third book in this fantastic series but Conor and Claire may be my favourite! Sexy Irish hunk and a strong woman - add in the chocolate cake and it's the perfect read. I love how each character delves into issues in such an honest way yet they still have plenty of fun - hot fun! Fantastic read and great insight on body image. Thanks Angela!

This is the 3rd book in the Angela Quarles Stolen Moments series. The series is about members of a Hurling Team an Irish sport that seems to be something like soccer or rugby. The championship game has been won and the team’s captain Conor decides to take a later flight home. Claire (a player on the women’s team) also has a seat on the later plane. Their plans are destroyed when a hurricane closes the airport. Claire manages to snag the last hotel room in town and invites Conor to share it. What each of them doesn’t know is that the other has been attracted to them for years but thought the other wasn’t interested.
Their hotel time allows them to explore their attraction and once the electricity goes out sparks come from a different place. This is a great story that explores the attraction between two people who each are damaged in their own way and afraid to let anyone in. As they each open up, their relationship is able to flourish.
One of the fun parts about this book is the many Irish idioms Conor uses – sometimes making it a little hard to read but fun nonetheless.

4+ Stars!

This is the third book in the Stolen Moments series, focusing on members of a hurling team and their romance stories. Unlike the first two books, the heroine is also a hurling athlete for a women's team. Due to misinterpretations from when they first met, both the H/h think the other is not attracted or simply doesn't like the other person. After three years of believing this, they are stranded together during a hurricane and end up sharing a lone hotel room where/when the truth comes out.

While the previous book (Risking It) will probably always be my favorite in this series, Deserving It comes in on its heels. I loved Connor and he's definitely a favorite book hero. He's native Irish, a ginger, smart, and an athlete. That's just the basics, because he's also honorable to the nth degree. I could go on and on, because I was so smitten with him. With Claire, I struggled a bit more trying to connect with her character. Her characterization wasn't a favorite, but Connor more than made up for it and saved the story for me. Above all and what impressed me most, was this author's ability to take a shortened story (novella) and give it enough depth to keep me invested and coming back.

A nice couple we have here and a book I really enjoyed. It was funny, a quick read and gave me that nice and cozy feeling, especially since at the time I was reading it, it was also raining outside. Even if this is the third book in the “Stolen Moments” series, it can be read as a stand-alone, but it does give you that feeling of wanting to read more from Angela Quarles.

Claire and Conor have had their fair share of happenings in life and both have something to run from, including each other. However, due to some misunderstanding they never got the chance to become more than team mates. Life has a way of turning things in the right direction though. When a hurricane puts them together in the same room, things start happening and truths starts coming to light. They will know many more things about each other, bodies included.

I must say that the author really did a great job pointing out Conor’s Irish origins. I did not mind at all the specific phrases or expressions included, on the contrary, they made the delight of my reading experience. The impact the weather has on the environment is also presented, as well as the preparations people make before the event.

In regards to character development, both have family issues that are only scratched in the book. The short length does not allow us to better understand the problems, especially when it comes to Conor. Claire’s struggle with bulimia and the steps she had to take in order to become in control of her life are touched upon quite well, but I wanted to see more when it comes to her relationship with her mom. The same goes for him, I would have wanted to understand more his protective side.

With all these taken into account, I will give 3.5 stars (rounded to 4) to this book, with the mention that for sure the other books in the series deserve the attention. The writing was beautiful, the story was extremely hot and everything combined gave me a nice lovely feeling. Happy Reading!

2.5-3 oh I am so thorn about it stars...
I love Angel Quarles writing. Her humor, charm, well rounded characters and fun stories.
I loved Claire, her spunk, feistiness. Sweet Connor - sexy, kind, hot and understanding. They both had enough chemistry to light up a room and when the conditions were right - a storm - they found each other.

"The storm might have thrown us together in this room, but it's not why I'm in this bed with you."

The story was simple. To the point. Even though it was shorter that the others the romance didn't suffer or the plot line. Well, maybe a little more in the end I would have wanted to get out of the couple. As usual they were both mature enough to recognize and correct their mistakes and that's one thing I love about Angela Quarles. No angst prolonged by stupidity.

Having said all that now I will say that the Irish words and sentences were atrocious. I have spent more than 5 years traveling from one corner to the other or Ireland and I have never heard such a way of expressing oneself. I admit I did not visit all the corners of Ireland - i.e. clubs, slums (if there are) and 'hoods' - but the majority speak a very good English with an Irish accent. The accent makes it harder to understand but once you get used, it's fun.
The "yeah" at the end killed most of the dialogue coming out of Connor. I have spent so much time looking to understand what he is saying at I barely enjoyed the story.
The slang was hard to decipher and almost Yoda-ish wording was an overkill, i.e. "You've got a maggoting idea there, you have."

Language aside I love these series and I am looking forward to reading more from Angela Quarles.

I’m not usually a fan of romances where there are prickly interactions between the characters. Usually I feel like one or the other (or both) of them is being an a** but I think that Quarles does a pretty good job here of making it work. Once they start to get over themselves and connect, they are a good match together. And being stuck in the same hotel room during a hurricane definitely forces them to get friendly 🙂

I really enjoyed getting to know Conor and he’s such a good guy. He’s got some insecurities that totally works for him – helps his image and doesn’t take away from his sexiness. Claire also has a past that has left her with some scars and while I kinda wish she’d been a little more open with Conor I can totally see where she’s coming from. Thanks to her childhood she’s made herself pretty tough but there’s still soft spots that she’s trying hard to protect.

Deserving It does have a shortened time frame, but with the forced cohabitation and the fact that they have known each other for a while it works for me. They still have their issues to work through and there is, of course, the minor freak out at the end but I really like the way they find their way to a HEA.

(While part of a series, this one can easily stand on its own.)

So, this was a pretty good quick read. I liked both characters and I liked their POVs, even liked Conor’s POV in Irish. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 (really should've been 3.5) was because every time Conor (or his sister) spoke, the dialog ended with “yeah”. I’ve been to Ireland, was there for a week, and not one person I came across in my drive around the country spoke like that. It didn’t bother me at first, but the further into the book, the more it bothered me. Beyond that, I recommend.

3.5 Stars. This is a cute book that didn't take forever to read (which was nice, in my opinion). It is well written and well edited, has likeable characters, and has an interesting plot. It's not one of those books that wowed me so much that I'll read it again, or even remember much about it in a month, but it was certainly an enjoyable read. I like that it had just enough angst to make it interesting but not so much that I got impatient with it. Conor is an absolute doll, and his insecurities make him seem more real and do not detract from his sex appeal; Claire is tough as nails, with good reason, but comes around pretty quickly to realize what's right in front of her. This is the third book in a series but can definitely be read as a standalone (which it was for me). I wish this author's previous works were on Kindle Unlimited because I would read the other books in the series if so. I think they are a little pricey (at $3.99) for their length, though.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Deserving It by new to me author Angela Quarles, is an entertaining book. The two main characters, Claire and Conor, reside in the Sarasota area of Florida. They are the captains of their local hurling teams. They are realistic and easy to get to know. Both of them have been attracted to each other for a few years, but have done nothing about it. After advancing their teams to the next level of play, they are en-route back to their respective homes. Unfortunately, or fortunately for them, a hurricane closes down the airport and they are stuck with each other until the weather clears. They fall into hot and heavy lust, which evolves into more.

Claire and Conor are a hot couple, and I enjoyed being a part of their lives. Conor is from Ireland, so his use of Irish English was quite funny at times. Claire's personality was interesting, and her coping mechanisms were understandable. This is the third book from the author's Stolen Moments series and it can enjoyed as a standalone.

3.5 STARS!!!
Although this is the third book in this series it can be read as a stand-alone. I've enjoyed this book as much as I did the previous books in this series. Deserving It gives us Conor and Claire's story. It was a good romance read with a lot of steamy scenes that you will enjoy. This was a very light read and it gives you a little bit of the characters past with their family members and ex's, which helps you understand the characters a little bit more. My only complaint about this story was be that the ending felt rushed. It seemed as if it came out of nowhere. I actually thought I somehow skipped a few pages on my kindle so I went back to check and I hadn't. That was a little disappointing because I liked the story but I didn't like the way it ended. Would I recommend this book? Yes, because it is a good romance read and I feel it's worth reading. I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future.
