From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark Ever After series…
Each day with Damien is a miracle, each moment with our children a gift. And yet I cannot escape the growing sense that a storm is gathering, threatening to pull me away, to rip us apart. To drag me down, once again, into a darkness to which I swore never to return.
I have to fight it—I know that. And I am waging the battle with of all my heart. But it is Damien who is my strength, and we both know that the only way to push away the darkness is for him to fold me in his arms and claim me completely. And for me to surrender myself, once again, to the fire that burns between us.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and #1 International bestselling author of over one hundred novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.

Be still my heart!!! There is just something about being reunited with Damien and Nikki that makes me giddy with excitement and in J. Kenner’s latest installment in Stark Ever After Series, Kenner more than pleases us in Please Me. Kenner reminded us the palpable and beautiful love story of Damien, Nikki and their family. Since this book is a novella, I will just say Damien will stop at nothing protecting his beloved wife and their family and together these two are the fiercest couple. Their love is passionate, intense and real and so watching these two reconnect and grow stronger is one of the most breathtaking thing. A must read for any Damien and Nikki fans.
EEEEEP!!! Nikki and Damien Stark are back with another little Novella!
I hope this will keep on happening until the end of times! ☺
In this little book we have Nikki busy with a new App and with the kids. And something is troubling Damien - he tells Nikki it's work, but she doesn't really believe it. She's surprising him with a little weekend getaway to San Francisco - but things will not go they way she planned!!! ☺
This was the perfect little addition for all fans of Damien and Nikki!
I hope we'll get a new one every other month for ever and ever and ever!
This one was realllly short - only 70% of the book was the story, the rest was other stuff - but it was a sweet, sexy, adorable and exciting little thing! I just adore D+N as parents! I want more of that - and we'll get more of that. There's a full-length novel coming soon and another one and a novella next year! YESSSS!
We also meet someone again in PLEASE ME who will be part of the new Stark Security Trilogy!!!
I never ever want to say goodbye to the Stark world!
PLEASE ME was another adorable & sexy & exciting little #MustRead about Nikki & Damien!! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Damien - this one is MINE! ☺
J. Kenner back with Damien and Nikki and it's absolutely wonderful to visit with them again. But, is there a problem with their marriage?
Damien promised no more secrets but Nikki knows there is something going on. She's hoping the weekend away will help him leave his problems behind and maybe tell her what's troubling him. But, the only thing it does is bring the problem front and center and has knocked Nikki on her ass.
She knows he adores the ground she walks on. She knows he's committed to her and their family. Now, she has to decide how to handle the bombshell that was dropped on her lap.
Like the strong, capable, forgiving and loving woman that she is, Nikki stands tall and accepts whatever fate has for her. And, Damien can't help but love her even more.
I love the Starks and the writing of J. Kenner. She is absolutely one of my go-to authors when I want to read an intriguing and romantic story. And, boy, does she know how to write romance.
I have to get back into this one later since I haven't read the series before. I got to read it through because it was part of a 1001 Dark Nights bundle ...so I was a little confused reading it. I also didn't know that the novella was the 5th book in the original series. But overall, Please Me is a short, quick read... though I was a little confused since I don't know the characters well... it was enough to make me want to give the series a try.
What a treat Please Me has been, if you are a fan of the Stark Ever After Series this should not be missed. For those new to the series you will get to know Nikki and Damien as a married couple with two beautiful daughters but for those who have read the series you know Nikki and Damien have been through hell and back, and it just seems that these two cannot catch a break.
This story revolves around a secret Damien is keeping from Nikki and I was totally shocked over the secret and quite frankly angry over it as well. While things are resolved and the truth is exposed I was saddened by the fact that Damien didn't confide in Nikki even after they said NO MORE SECRETS.
The love shared by Nikki and Damien are evident in everything they do, and yes that includes why Damien hid this secret from her. I enjoyed revisiting this couple and I hope we get to see them again at another time.
If you haven't read the Stark Ever After series no worries this book was written so that it could be read as a standalone, It's part of the 1001 Dark Nights Series which gives readers a chance to revisit characters and series they may have already read about but also gives new readers a chance to dive right on in and get a taste of something new. I would recommend this read to anyone that enjoys the BDSM genre of Contemporary Erotic Romances. Happy Reading!!!

I have somehow stumbled upon this audiobook and started listening to it without knowing what it's about or that it's the 7th or 8th book in a series. 🙈 That's why I didn't get into the story that much, hence the low rating. But since it was a very short book and also fast paced, it wasn't too terrible.
Don't think I'd ever be interested in reading the other books in the series though.
In the novella "Please Me" we continue with the Stark Saga and delve into the relationship. I have really appreciated J.Kenner doing these novella's for this couple. This is a book that I didn't expect to have the reveals that it did, I honestly was expecting a big reveal later in the series to be honest, not in a novella. But I was captivated by seeing what we see with Damien and Nikki. My heart really went out to Nikki the most in this one, she really has to put her best strength on in this one. There were some aspects that I didn't understand in her response to Damien. I thought it kinda odd, they are married, she knows he is keeping secrets from her, but doesn't think its that big of a deal but behind closed doors, she is tormented by the secrets. I just couldn't understand why these two aren't more honest with each other. Its been years since they were married, and you would think with their type of bond, they would have this figured out, but nope lol Sometimes these books it acts like these two are new in their relationship and they just aren't new together. So I do wish we could see a bit more maturity in their relationship.
But overall it was a keeper, kept my interest and was a delight from beginning to end despite the flaws we see in their relationship.
"His kisses make me hungry. Not for food, but for him."
This little treasure is confirmation that that the 1001 Dark Nights stories can be read as a standalone. I'm a huge fan of J. Kenner, but I got started a little late. I missed the first three books, Damien and Nikki's story. I've seen these characters many times in later books, but I've not had time to go back to the beginning and read their history, though I do have the books waiting on my kindle. Reading Please Me has me even more determined to do so, I loved it so much. There are glimpses into their past that really intrigues me to find out more, and I enjoyed seeing some other characters that I've met in other Stark stories.
The beautiful relationship between Damien and Nikki is obvious. Their feelings for each other and the fire they've survived to stay together makes their hard-won love especially strong. However; something is wrong. He's not himself and the wall he's putting up is frightening her. Why won't he talk to her about whatever is bothering him? What could be so bad that he'd break his promise to not keep secrets?
Yup, that's all you're getting. The author manages to fill the pages with steamy sex, emotion, and suspense. So much content for a novella, leaving you sated and smoking a virtual cigarette. But, I'm always ready for more. The line forms here...
I’d forgotten just how much I adore Nikki and Damien. Their love is deep, their life amazing, and their connection unbreakable. Or is it.
Nikki and Damien Stark struggle just like all parents to make time for each other—to ensure that their love is strong, strong enough to get through anything. But when one partner holds back, withholds information, love—anything—the other feels the strain in their relationship. This is just what’s happening with Nikki and Damien.
Damien’s nature—to his core—is a protector. He’ll protect what’s his no matter the cost. Nikki is a lover, a giver and she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Damien knows she’s there for him regardless of what he’s trying to protect her from.
I have to say that Please Me merely whetted my appetite for more from this amazing couple. I have adored their romance from the very beginning and I love how they’ve grown and flourished within each other’s arms. I can’t wait for their next book. ~ Missy, 5 stars
Just when Damien and Nikki feel like their life and their love couldn’t be more perfect, the past or should I say those from their pasts always seem to remind them that they’re not untouchable…that their mistakes might just have to be answered for and based on experience, these skeletons want to hit Damien and Nikki where it hurts the most, running smear campaigns or threatening to reveal their dirty laundry for the world to see and for two incredibly private people, like Damien and Nikki are, there’s nothing Damien won’t do to shield his wife and his kids from feeling the blowback from someone looking to benefit from Damien’s financial status.
But it seems that Damien, at times, doesn’t truly understand that his and Nikki’s passion and love stem from how connected they are – mind, body, and soul, which means that both of them have the ability to sense when something is wrong or there’s a secret between them, and in Please Me, Damien, once again, is trying to protect what’s his, but in the process, he’s shutting Nikki out and reminding her of the times where there were still secrets between them even after honesty/truth was promised.
Through all of Damien and Nikki’s ups and downs, their love, their vows, their bond may be tested, but it’s more than clear, it will never truly waiver because they are each other’s heart and soul, which means that they’ll always find their way through difficult situations together, even if it feels like they’re separated by insurmountable walls.
They’re Mr. and Mrs. Damien Stark and that’s what they will remain no matter who or what tries to destroy what they’ve built all these years together.
I began reading Please me as soon as it arrived on my kindle. I wanted to see what the author planned for Damien and Nikki and how they were living their happily ever after. In this short story, Nikki had planned a mini vacation for her and her husband, but Damien has something on his mind that prevents him from dedicating 100% of himself to his wife and family. We don't know what that is until a paparazzi blurts out the truth to Nikki. After that things went downhill for me. For a while, I thought that this novella would serve as a prologue of sorts to the next full-length book in the series and we wouldn't find out the truth until the end of that book. To my delight, we get more answers than I expected and I was happy with the outcome. What I wasn't happy with is Nikki. I loved how much she developed as a character over the years, but I didn't like how she shut off after Damien's secret was out. I do understand that he kept something very important from her, but I don't think it deserved that reaction. Overall, though, I can say that I had positive feelings for the book and I am waiting for the next novel of the series without dread. On a final note, I must say that Jamie and Ryan need to have another book. Jackson and Sylvia too.
It’s always nice to read a little more about the Stark family. Damien Stark remains one of my all-time favorite heroes.
Nikki and Damien’s happily ever after took me through so many emotions! They both have demons in their past to deal with, things that trigger negative feelings within them which makes for a fantastic angst ridden short story. Nikki fully intends to convince Damien to keep his promise that there would be no more secrets between them. She has planned a romantic trip that should eradicate the demons that have been taunting Damien. The depth of the feelings these two have, even with all their emotional baggage, is breathtaking. I loved the sweet moments with their daughters. If you enjoyed the series, you will enjoy this little return to Nikki and Damien’s world.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
I love the Stark novels, so was delighted that 1001 Dark Nights has given us another chance to meet up with Nikki and Damien Stark.
We see them having to deal with the demands of family and careers, when the first bloom of romance has past. Nikki can tell that Damien has an issue he is holding back, and so she makes plans to give him a chance to relax with her, and open up. This dedication to ensuring that they retain their closeness and their passion as well as the ordinary leads to a very sexy and sweet story.
I can never really get enough of one of my favourite book couples, so was delighted to get to read this lovely novella. If you have never met them before, I am sure that this would entice you into finding out just how they reached this point - you will not be disappointed.
When I started reading this and got to the part where the secret Damien was keeping was revealed I was furious. Luckily it was BULLSHIT because if not I WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WITH DAMIEN AND NIKKI AND I NEVER WOULD’VE READ ANYTHING ABOUT THEM AGAIN !! I was so mad when I read this and now I realize it was all done for shock and drama. Damien and Nikki have always been my top five favorite couples of all time but I have to say some of these novellas have really pissed me off.
The latest novella with Damien and Nikki’s marriage brings a secret that Damien isn’t talking about. Nikki knows her husband well and something is wrong. She's planning a weekend getaway determined to bring them closer. But the Stark’s are strong to the core, and though the revelation proves to be a test to their marriage, they can work through the rocky path.
You’ll not want to miss this mind-blowing secret. Can they survive the heartache? I love the steamy reconnection and reassurances. Great quick read. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Please Me (Stark Ever After) by J. Kenner 3.5 stars M/F Romance I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is a carry on of the amazing Stark series. You get to see Nikki and Damien living their life. Where there is normally all heat and chemistry, this is more of a realistic look in to their relationship.
Nikki knows that her husband is hiding something, but Damien is too worried about how it will change his life. Their communication needs a boost.
It's a quick read with some intense moments. But, Kenner always delivers with this couple and this time is no exception. It's a sweet look in to their lives.
Each day with Damien is a miracle, each moment with our children a gift. And yet I cannot escape the growing sense that a storm is gathering, threatening to pull me away, to rip us apart. To drag me down, once again, into a darkness to which I swore never to return.

REVIEW: 4.5 stars-PLEASE ME by J. Kenner by J. Kenner is instalment 4.2 in the author’s contemporary, adult STARK EVER AFTER erotic, romance series, and the latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. PLEASE ME is the on-going story focusing on billionaire businessman Damien Stark, and his wife / app developer Nikki Fairchild.
Told from first person point of view (Nikki) PLEASE ME follows Nikki Fairchild-Stark as she endeavors to come to terms with her husband’s recent change in behavior. Hoping to keep their marriage alive Nikki plans a weekend for two only that will fall victim to a potential scandal that is about to rock their orderly life. What ensues are Nikki’s attempts to uncover the truth, and the fall-out as Damien hides a secret that could destroy the woman he loves.
PLEASE ME is a story of secrets and lies; betrayal and power; love and forgiveness. As Damien’s past comes looking for revenge, Nikki struggles with Damien’s lies of omission that are about to spiral out of control.
J. Kenner adds another passionate and compelling addition to Damien and Nikki’s happily ever after.
Damien and Nikki have been through a lot since they’ve been together but each day with each other and their two children is more than just a gift, it’s what Nikki depends on to get past the demons from her past. With Damien keeping secrets from Nikki will this be the one thing that tears them apart?
I was gift this novella in exchange for an honest review.
I fell in love with Damien and Nikki from the beginning. They are a couple who are not perfect but they are perfect for each other. Damien and Nikki may be two separate people but together they make an amazing powerful duo! The things they do for each other and people around them. The love for their girls and each other kept me coming back for more. Damien and Nikki are so in sync with each other that they know when the other is hiding something from them. Nikki does her best to give Damien what he needs to be able to open up but when he keeps shutting her out, her fears start to take over. The need to reconnect brings them closer and drives them.
When Julie started this series, I doubt she thought it’d go this far. Out of all the books I’ve read I keep coming back to every book or novella she writes about Damien and Nikki. If the book just has a cameo of them, I’m reading that book. I fell in love with this couple right from the start. I’m more than happy that Julie keeps adding to their story. I can’t seem to get enough of Damien and Nikki and I look for to every novella or novel that comes out.
Please Me by J. Kenner brings us back to the world of Damien and Nikki Stark, the main characters from her Stark Trilogy. It is always fun to come back and read more about what is going on in the lives of these two main characters. They've grown stronger as characters since their first introduction, and I enjoy seeing "happily ever after" extend to years later where we can see the characters with their family and dealing with issues like a real couple would. True, we're talking about Damien and Nikki Stark, so some of their issues and troubles are not typical, but how they stay together and have each other's back even through the ups and downs is and that is what I love about these two characters.
In this story, Damien is acting strange, so Nikki plans a weekend getaway so they focus on each other and not whatever is worrying Damien. However nothing in Stark world is ever easy and Ms. Kenner gives us additional twists even in this short novella.
I very much recommend Please me by J. Kenner. I have enjoyed every book in this series and getting back to Damien and Nikki was a lot of fun and not to be missed.
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
In this latest novella of the Stark Ever After series, Damien Stark has got a secret - a potentially deadly one for his marriage to Nikki - but he's not talking about it. In her concern, Nikki arranges for a weekend getaway - so that the Stark's can focus on each other and not work or children. Just as they arrive at there destination, the bombshell is dropped. Blindsided with this information, it looks as if the Stark marriage has received its first major crack.
I love revisiting Damien & Nikki's love story and relationship. We all know how much they've had to deal with (false accusations of murder, a homicidal ex, manipulative parents), and this latest crisis isn't anything that this couple can't handle - or is it? What I can say is that this couple does - is what they do best. Work thru the issue, and remain a united, stronger front. The kids are adorable, but we don't get much interaction with them - I hope see more of Damien & Nikki as true parents in the next book.
Lastly, but certainly never least, we get sexy times - on private balconies & planes. I for one can't wait to see what other crisis threatens to impede on the Stark relationship. Bring on the next book, please!
He is my heart and my soul. My breath and my body. We know each other, he and I. Intimately. Passionately. Fully and completely.
Through good times and bad, til death do us part. Damien and Nikki have been through it all. Ups and downs, joyful moments, yet hardships that no one should have to endure... and yet, at the end they are stronger than ever! THIS is what makes EVERY ASPECT of the Stark series the most engrossing, addicting books by J. Kenner so EPIC!
This little novella in the 1001 Dark Nights series takes us back into Damien and Nikki's lives and the shit storm has hit the fan yet again. Let's see how their bond will grow, their love will blossom afterwards... cause come on, we all know no one leaves Damien Stark! LOL! Loved how Nikki takes the lead and Damien follows, to see her character now compared to where she started all those books ago... its fantastic!
If you have not jumped on the Stark bandwagon... you MUST! No question about it! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
“I’m still not sure what lucky star shined down and blessed me with Damien’s love, but I know that it is real and unfathomably deep. I know, because he tells me so. More important, he shows me. In every touch, every kiss, every silly or extravagant gift. He is my heart and my soul. My breath and my body. “ ~Nikki
Damien & Nikki Stark have long been one of my favorite book couples. They love fiercer and live larger than others, their lives a technicolor tapestry in a sea of ordinary black & white. In this new novella, the usually attentive Damien has been working long hours and acting secretive, so Nikki orchestrates a sensual getaway to reconnect with her distracted husband. Little does she know, he has been working those long hours to defuse a situation that could ultimately shatter their idyllic lives. It’s always a pleasure when a favorite author is able to surprise me, and color me surprised, but I did not see that revelation coming! Looking forward to more adventures from the always sexy Starks!!
Diving back into Nikki and Damien’s world is like coming home to mum. You’ve been doing fine on your own but there is something so comforting about your mum that is so wonderful. That is what Please Me is. Familiar, comforting, but exciting to read. Julie has kept these characters alive and fresh in another novella, giving readers a glimpse of what Damien and Nikki’s life together is like.
Despite their immense love for each other and their family, things are not always smooth sailing for Nikki and Damien. In Please Me they face another challenge, another person trying to tear them apart. What I loved most was despite this awful external force coming at them, was that they were normal and human and realistic as they dealt with it. Communication was hard, they wanted to protect the other.
It was a classic Stark formula but did not feel stale or old. I could read about this couple forever and ever and I’m so glad Julie keeps publishing new content about them!
