Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

Tattered by Devney Perry is an adorably sweet, swoony romance with just a touch of suspense.

When Thea and Logan meet one night in a bar in NYC, it's a one night thing. The attraction is instant and they know what they want out of that one night. What they don't expect is a child to come from that one night. When Thea finds herself pregnant by Logan- no last name- she has no way of finding him. Eventually she moves to Montana to be with the only people she calls family. Years later, her daughter Charlie is 5, and Logan is the last person she ever expects to see again.

Once again, Logan walks into Thea's bar, but this time it's in Montana. And he finds out he is the father to a daughter he's never known about. A good chunk of the book is Logan navigating parenthood. My favorite parts of the book were seeing Logan and Charlie together. It was so freaking sweet. I also loved watching that spark between Logan and Thea reignite. You could just see that they were meant to be, even though their circumstance weren't ideal, as they lived in different states.

So why not a 5- honestly, I didn't love the bit of suspense thrown in there. The story as beautiful and emotional, and great the way it was, I didn't feel like it was necessary to have that put in. Overall, I very much enjoyed this book. Charlie was the cutest, Logan was amazing, and Thea was strong and brave. It was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

I adore the secret baby trope.

Yes, I know, it's tired. It's been done to death. But it's still magically and ridiculously delicious, folks.

But I digress.

I really liked the main characters here. They were both reasonable people and they had decent chemistry. In fact, this was riding at a solid 4 stars for me until it reached the last 15-20%...

I didn't LOVE how certain things when down...especially the whole stalker storyline. So unnecessary...so cheap...so shark jumpy.

But anywho. All in all a decent romance read. Already started book two...

He’d walked into my bar and claimed it as his own.

And I was drawn to him, like shivering bones to a warm blanket.

I guess that was natural. People always wanted what was out of their reach. And this man was so far out of my reach, he might as well be standing on the moon.

Having loved “The Birthday List,” I couldn’t wait to dive into this second chance romance. I expected a page turner, and that is what I got. The prologue was intriguing, which led into an enjoyable plot line.

I found the characters, Thea and Logan, to be quite endearing and loved their chemistry together.

But, the “suspense” aspect within the storyline was like a bizarre “filler” of sorts, and distracting.

This is book one of a new series, but does not end on a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next release.

If you enjoy a very steamy romance where the H and h come from totally different sides of the railroad tracks and have a hard time trying to meet in the middle, causing much angst, give this one a try. Oh, and an adorable five year old is heavily involved in the mix!

We first met Logan in The Clover Chapel (Jamison Valley #2) when he was dating Emmeline, I remember feeling sorry for him when Emmy broke up with him for her long lost husband Nick. So anyway Logan is a very well off lawyer who helps run his family business and grew up very privileged.

Thea comes from a different world, coming from a very underprivileged childhood and struggling to get by on tips and wages from her bar keeping job.

 photo whiskey_zpsdgfbmsya.gif

When Thea serves Logan at the bar one night and sparks fly, neither of them expect their one night together will change their lives forever but it would be years later until Logan finds out.

Thea is a kick ass, strong willed and independent woman. I loved her story and how she worked hard for everything she has and stuck to what she wanted for her and Charlie, not giving into Logan.

Logan, not sure about Logan. Poor guy was a little lost in the relationship department after spending so much time focussing on his career, not going to lie he had me eye rolling at times.

 photo LoganandThea_zpsevlu8bci.gif

BUT Thea and Logan were just meant to be! They had such a strong connection and were hot together.

I adored Charlie and the relationship between her and Thea, I loved how Thea let Charlie be independent. I thought seeing the relationship grow between Logan and Charlie was extra special though.

All in all this was a beautiful love story told perfectly!!

Do I think getting pregnant from a careless one night stand is ludicrous? Yes. It’s the 21 century. Unless you’ve been abducted by aliens, I’m sure you can find yourself condoms everywhere or get a prescription for pills. But that little slip up is not important. Because I WAS HERE FOR THE SURPRISE BABY. I’m a sucker for small town romances, and the trope here is too good to pass up.

Logan comes to a bar in NYC where Thea works as a bartender. Their mutual attraction eventually leads them to have a one night stand. Having never exchanged last names, Thea loses the chance to inform him of their unexpected baby. Now after six years, fate decides to give her a second chance when Logan walks in a bar in Montana and inadvertently finds Thea manning the table.

It’s hard to believe that even though Thea spends six months trying to find Logan, her search always comes up empty. I mean, the guy lives in New York of all places—though maybe this is the problem—and he’s FILTHY rich—though Thea was never aware of his status. But this whole scenario is kinda implausible to begin with, so let’s not make a big deal out of it. The fact remains that I really enjoyed this book.

Logan and Thea are as different as they come. While Logan grew up with wealth, Thea has to work hard for everything. Logan is far from snobby. In fact, he’s a workaholic and has made a fortune for himself without his family’s last name. Throughout the whole book, we see them trying to overcome the mountainous difference between their worlds. I appreciate how this was handled. I loved that Thea doesn’t have to give up her world to fit into Logan’s but I also did think the ending was slightly unfair for him.

When it comes to being parents, they’re the best you could ask for. Logan reacts to the news of him being a dad better than I expected to. Charlie is a wild child with a soft heart. I absolutely adored her. Their relationship is strained at the beginning, but it quickly grows into a loving one. There’s a touch of suspense to this story, but it’s rather unnecessary to be honest. In short, Tattered is a mildly emotional, adorably sweet and swoon worthy second chance at love romance filled with heartwarming family moments. I look forward to seeing what kind of romance the next book will bring.

“I like to take the tattered and lost and make it shine. Garbage doesn’t have to stay garbage. Things just need to find their right place.”

Me agradou bastante a forma como a autora conduziu a trama.

I love single Parent books and loved this one too.

Thea is an amazing female lead and mother. I was obsessed with her protectiveness as well as how sweet and loving she was with her daughter Charly.
I think my favorite part of her was though that she did not back down. She is a strong as well as fighting main character that doesn’t want to change her entire life for somebody else, which I really appreciated.

Logan was super sweet. I know this book technically falls under the love at first sight category but at times it did not feel like it. He was caring and respectful towards people’s wishes but at times definitely a bit too obsessive as well as controlling for my liking. The character development he went through though was very nice.

As much as I liked all the side characters and the kind of set up for the second book as well as overall the found family trope in here I have one major issue.
There was one plot line that was separate to the main and did not in any way connect the two stories that bothered me. The plot line brought nothing to the book except for it being a space filler.

Overall Opinion: I think I liked the first half of this book better than the second. I really struggled with the added suspenseful aspect towards the end. I don't even understand why it was necessary. It definitely made my eyes roll! I guess it was to add some more conflict or something, but it felt thrown in and not given the appropriate amount of time to make it work. I felt like the whole book was very surface. The main characterizations, the side characters, the interactions with the side characters, and the resolution that the H comes in with. I just didn't feel anything. It was like a lot of things were just told to me instead of me experiencing them along with the characters. Don't get me wrong -- overall it was alright, but it's definitely not going on my favorites shelf.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Thea and Logan's story. They meet one night and have a one night stand, but never exchange contact information or even last names. When Thea finds herself pregnant she is unable to let Logan know that he is going to be a father. Years later, Logan finds himself in a small town in Montana and he is shocked to see the ONS he never forgot and even more shocked to meet his daughter. Thea and Logan lead very different lives and in completely different states, so they have to work together to try to make the situation the best they can for their daughter. There is some family and work drama, a few sexy times, and some suspenseful moments...and they get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Thea and Logan's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well overall.

Instalove: No, but they do move pretty quickly.

H rating: 4 stars. Logan. I liked him. I thought he handled the situation pretty well even though it was really unexpected.

h rating: 3.5 stars. Thea. I liked her alright. I understood that she had a bad past, but I wanted her to explain that to the H better (and sooner).

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull:Yes

Heat level: Okay. They have some alright tension, chemistry, and scenes -- and not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes, but pretty mild

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a cute ending with what I would call a HEA

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

This is a new series from Devney Perry called "Lark Cove." It is another small town, this time in Montana where we get to fall in love with the people who melt are hearts. Book one involves Thea and her daughter, Charlie. Six Years ago, Thea had a one night stand when she lived and worked in New York at a bar. She ended up pregnant after the night of passion; but because she didn't even get Logan's last name, she had know way of letting him know that he was a father. Thea ends up moving to Montana to raise her baby and be around her family of her own creation. Life is good for the five years she is there, until she comes face to face with Logan once again.

The thing I really enjoyed about this story was the fact that it didn't take Logan long to find out he was a dad. You know how there are a lot of books out there that have the poor hero not find out the "secret baby" until halfway through the book? I don't care for that much anymore, I become impatient with that, so this was pleasantly surprising when all became revealed right of the bat. The story that unfolded was mainly about Logan getting to know his daughter, and also him falling in love with the mother of his child! Logan and Thea had a lot of hurdles to get over, the biggest one being that he lived in New York, and she lived in Montana. There were a lot of other bumps as well, but I enjoyed this story a lot. I especially fell in love with Logan, and his little girl Charlie!

My only peeve about this book was that I sometimes felt Thea expected Logan to make all of the changes, instead of her willing to make compromises. She had good reason for her feelings; but I would have liked to see her bend a little bit more for him. Other than that, this was another winner from Devney Perry. Personally, everything that I have read from her, I have very much enjoyed. She is an author whom I get her books as soon as I know they are out! I don't even read the synopsis!!! I just one click her work everytime!

Thank you Steph for letting me join you for a Buddy Read on this one! I just love being able to gossip about the characters in our books! LOL

This thing with us was fleeting. I wasn’t going to move to the city. He couldn’t give up the career he’d worked hard to build. I didn’t blame him for that, but I was being realistic. Eventually, we’d drift apart to where our only connection would be Charlie.

TATTERED is an equally steamy and angsty second chance romance. From the first page, you will be drawn into this tale of complicated love with all its twists and turns. Devney Perry has quickly become a ”must read” author for many readers. I can predict that the ”Lark Cove” series will be another fan favorite.

Thea and Logan meet one night in a hotel bar in NYC. Thea works there part-time as a bartender and Logan is the devastatingly handsome man in a dark tailored suit that gets Thea’s heart racing. Logan and Thea have major chemistry and share one passionate night together. Although they go their separate ways the next morning they will find it quite impossible to forget the night they shared. Turns out it’s much harder on Thea, seeing as she winds up pregnant with Logan’s child. Unfortunately, the two don’t reconnect as quickly as we’d like since neither last names nor phone numbers were exchanged and after several months of hoping to run into Logan at the bar she works at, Thea decides to move to Montana to be with people she considers family who she knows will support her during her time of need.

Nearly six years later, Logan and Thea cross paths again when he happens to be in her hometown in Montana trying to finalize a business deal. The chemistry is still strong between them and fortunately, they're both unattached. Thea has put all her efforts into raising their daughter, Charlie, and running her “adopted” Mother's bar/restaurant. No man has ever piqued her interest the way Logan had.

Logan is a very successful lawyer and he also helps run part of his family’s corporation. He’s a workaholic and has also not had much luck in the relationship department. From the moment he sees Thea again, he can’t help but feel drawn to her. But he’s in for the shock of his life when he comes face to face with a five-year-old precocious little girl who also turns out to be his daughter—a daughter he had no clue about.

The two struggle with their new situation and also with the attraction that still burns hot between them. Thea desperately wants Logan to choose her and Charlie over his life back in NYC, but she is convinced that she is not enough to keep him satisfied and eventually he will leave her behind. She had a very hard childhood and she has severe abandonment issues. Logan is career driven and has never had to compromise in his life. He's used to getting what he wants. He’s about to find out that he’s no match against Thea and Charlie’s stubbornness.

This book was hard to put down. I have to admit that while I truly enjoyed the story, both the Hero and Heroine annoyed me almost the entire time. I felt Logan was overly selfish and not the least bit sensitive to his daughter or Thea’s needs, and while Thea was somewhat firm with Logan, I do think she needed more of a backbone.

This is the perfect summer read!!

Here are my overall ratings

Hero: 4
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4
Steam: 4.5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

To be honest with you, I haven't read that many surprise baby stories. In fact, it's typically not my favorite trope. I think I can count on one hand the amount of books I've actually loved with this theme and Tattered is most certainly my FAVORITE of them all. I cannot get over how INTO this book I was. I can't even explain how DEEP and INTENSE the feels are. I wanted to burrow myself into this story and steal Logan for myself. This man, THIS. FREAKING. MAN. He is everything. He's goodness and sweetness, sexiness and alpha-maleness, ALL THE THINGS in one deliciously explosive package. I died over him. I adored the way Devney crafted this hero. He was such a good person. Inside and out, his pure heart shined, and it was perfect.

Seriously, when it comes to writing romance Devney Perry is a winner at telling a story. Tattered follows Thea Landry and Logan Kendrick. Thea and Logan have a one night stand but never exchange information. Weeks later Thea finds out she's expecting but unfortunately NYC is a huge and there is no way, despite her efforts, that she can find Logan and tell him about Charlie (their daughter). Fast forward 6 years and fate brings Logan to Lark Cove, Montana on business. He's a lawyer and a philanthropist and is buying a camp for his family's foundation. While there he runs into Thea and finds out he's a father.

And here comes the swoon, people. This type of story line can easily turn into drama for the sake of drama. I mean, I have read some surprise baby books where I felt like the child was caught between toxic parents. And I hate that. Loathe it, actually. But THIS STORY is gorgeous. It's so well told. Thea and Logan care about their daughter and there is not ONE MINUTE where they don't put her needs first. My heart whooshed whooshed whooshed for these characters. I felt so intoxicated by Logan because he was such an upstanding guy. He did all the right things. And so did Thea. She didn't use her daughter as a pawn. These two were responsible and thoughtful and respectful and this story felt incredibly realistic.

Reading the way Logan treated Thea and his child, seeing his heartfelt desire to be in their life, to make a mark, to form a long lasting relationship with them was bliss. His connection with Thea is deep and tangible, wholly palpable and there was no doubt in my mind that these two were destined to be each other’s.

Overall, I more than loved this story. I felt captured by it. Once I started reading, I didn't want to put it down. And man, did I ever have the mother of ALL BOOK HANGOVERS when I finished. I couldn't get passed it, didn't want to move on. Tattered spoke to my heart and is undoubtedly a TOP FAVORITE read of the year. Heartfelt, sweet, tender, and all consuming, this is one romance that absolutely NEEDS to be on your MUST READ list. It's everything you want in a romance and so much more. I just loved it.

** Thank you to Inkslingers PR for the ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Of course the heroine had to be frozen and raising a kid while hero had a relationship with another woman for 5 years and he planned to marry her so he must have loved this woman. My problem with this is the stupid heroine had to be frozen. Really? Really? Get the fuck out of here with this fucking stupid shit.

I am always uber excited to start a new Devney Perry story; she has such a skilful talent of telling a story so flawlessly where every aspect seems to flow so effortlessly. I can’t help but be drawn into the world she creates for us to devour. Tattered was no different for me; I loved it so much and was so invested in the story from start to finish. I had those pages flipping at super speed. It was super sweet, romantic, emotional and it melted my heart. The feels were intense and I loved every second of Tattered.

Thea is no stranger to hard times and struggles. It has been that way for her ever since she graced this earth with her presence. She lives an unprivileged life having been brought up in poverty, and lives day to day trying to make ends meet living off tips from her job as a bar tender. Little does Thea know that one night of passion will forever change her life.

When a beautiful and alluring stranger named Logan walks into the bar Thea is working at, the stars are aligned and sparks are set to fly. There is an instant chemistry that neither of them can ignore. Needless to say they spend one incredible night together and the passion was intense, totally off the scales hot.

“The passion in his voice and the intensity of his gaze nearly broke me. Because his plea had nothing to do with dancing.”

Logan is worlds apart from Thea in every possible way; work, lifestyle, family and upbringing are nothing like Thea’s. Logan’s work is possibly the most important thing in his life, to the point where I would consider him a complete and utter workaholic. While he has had an affluent upbringing he has worked doggedly hard to achieve everything he has, but it comes at a price, his work has become his life.

While Thea and Logan only spent one passionate night together, they were not far from each other’s minds, but they never expected to see each other again.

Fast forward six years and Thea has moved from New York to Montana. You can imagine her shock when she sees Logan in the dive of a bar she is currently working in. Logan is in Montana on business and it was meant to be a fly-in fly-out business trip, but it doesn’t end up that way when he sees Thea again. She turns his life upside down when she shares the news that he is the father of her six year old daughter, Charlie.

Logan has some monumental decisions to make then and there. He is completely tied down to his job and his life is in New York. Will Thea and Logan make it work, not just for themselves but for little Charlie?

I was completely captivated and drawn into this story from the first word. Tattered was a beautifully written and heart-warming story of the perfect second chance. I loved the characters and everything they brought to this unforgettable story, especially little Charlie, she was utterly adorable. I couldn’t help but love Thea; she has been through so much in her life already and I wanted nothing more than to see her have the happy ever after she so thoroughly deserves.

If you’re anything like me and love nothing more than to sink into a second chance love story that will positively melt your heart, then I can not recommend Tattered enough.

MY REVIEW can also be found on my blog:
KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

TATTERED: is the first standalone in the Lark Cove series, a full-length contemporary romance novel, by ‘Denver Perry.’ In this we meet Thea Landry’ & ‘Logan Kendrick. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives.’

When a charismatic man walks into the New York bar where Thea bartends, her heart beat spikes up a notch and she’s instantly drawn to him, where for just one night she falls under the charms of a handsome stranger named Logan, and vice versa. One thing leads to another and he takes her up to his room where their unbridled passion is unleashed.

We were just Logan and Thea, two strangers with chemistry off the charts. Thea and I had agreed on just one night. One incredible night. The next morning we’d walk away from each other with no strings attached.

Needless to say Thea had made an impact on Logan and after that night she was never too far away from his thoughts.

Finding out she’s pregnant and with only the guys first name to go by she has no way of making contact with him and up sticks to Montana.

SIX YEARS LATER:
Neither of them expected to see the other again, so the last person Thea expected to see was the guy she spent that one night with all those years ago turn up in Montana standing in the dingy, bar where she works, sipping on the tequila shot she’d just poured him worlds away from New York. He’d come to Montana on a business venture, so it was a flying visit.

And when thirty three year old Logan Kendrick claps eyes on Thea, is the same day he unexpectantly finds out that he’s a father to a six year old daughter named Charlotte aka Charlie. Needless to say he’s beyond shocked but puts work on hold for a week to get to know his daughter and vice versa.

Logan is a workaholic, chained to his cell phone, his life is his work, and his life is in New York and Thea's and Charlies is in Lark Cove, geographically they are worlds apart.

I adored Charlie, the wild child at heart!! The wee tom boy!! She was just adorable and I'm so glad we got her in this story. The heroine Thea is the type you sit back and root for, crawling her way through life with all the hard knocks kicking her down, she's strong and independent to a fault, throughout it all she stayed true to herself, not once did she become bitter and you truly love her strong willed character.
And even though Logan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and life just fell in his lap he didn't abuse his affluent life, he'd rightly made a name for himself, he also appreciated what he had so this is where these two worked.

This was so beautifully written, where your heart turns into utter mush, and all the feels come rushing at you out of nowhere. Tattered is a truly unforgettable second chance love story at it’s best. And these types of reads are my kryptonite.

3.5 ⭐️ IM SO EXCITED to be starting lark cove!!! Thea was an angel & so strong. Logan wasn’t my favorite tbh HAHAHA but it’s fine, he was just kind of there. y’all know that sound “she looks absolutely beautiful…. um… and he’s there” that’s me w this book. at one point this man said that he “should’ve made sure she got on birth control” boy goodbye???? lemme humble u real quick. anyway I focused on Thea & Charlie and that was enough for it to be worth it for me <3 I always like the first book in small town series because u get to see all the couples to come and that’s the best part. when I tell y’all i’m gonna eat up this up… I MEANNNN IT. jackson & willa HERE I COME 🏃🏻‍♀️

This book kept coming up in my feed and for the life of me I can’t tell you why I got it in my head that this would have to be a mood read. Maybe the cover or title made me think it would be an ugly cry or angsty read? I don’t know but after finally having read it, I can say that I was totally wrong.

I really enjoyed this book. Logan and Thea always had the chemistry but it was everything else they had to work out. It was nice to see Logan’s growth through his missteps and assumptions. It was good to see Thea’s openness and her giving something new or different a fair shot. In some ways they were on track to make the cookie cutter mistakes in these types of stories but they reacted differently than how it’s typically portrayed. That was what made this refreshing. The writing was good. The secondary characters are totally gonna be fun to read next. Totally glad my tribe suggested it <3

This was fun! I've realized that while I don't like surprise pregnancy books, I really like secret baby books. I this one, Thea and Logan had a one night stand. Weeks later, Thea realized she was pregnant, but she had no idea how to find Logan. Six years later, Logan is back in Thea's small town and quickly realized he left something...important behind. This was a super sweet small town romance about two people falling in love and trying to figure out life. I really enjoyed how Thea loved her small town life and wanted nothing to do with the big city life that Logan was currently living. Her daughter was adorable and I loved how it wasn't just super easy for Logan to be a part of her life and be an actual dad to her. I do think the suspense part at the end was random and very forced and not necessary at all for the plot, but I enjoyed this small town romance that was kind of a second chance for our couple.

Tattered is my first introduction to Devney Perry’s writing and I can’t believe it’s took me this long to read something from her!! I fell in love with the small town feel, the laid back but feisty characters, and the bond over family. This story takes you on a journey and gives you a close up look at what means to be selfless and loving. We’ve all had to sacrifice something in our lifetime and this couple was no different.

Coming from a rough childhood and making something of herself hasn’t been an easy feat for Thea Landry, but she’s done it. Going from bartender to bar owner in the span of six years took hard work and she’s more than proud of herself. But the one person who she wants to make the biggest impression on, is her five year old daughter. One encounter six years ago, changed everything for Thea and with the gift of having a daughter and some memories that lasted only for one night, she’s more than happy with the way her life is now. That is until her walking one stand shows up in her bar completely out of the blue and gets his own surprise of a lifetime.

Logan has gone through his fair share of drama over the past year. Now newly single for the past six months, his main focus is nothing but work, work, work. After looking into some new potential investments for his family’s foundation, he’s suddenly eye to eye with his past one night stand. A one night that he’s always wanted to be more but didn’t get to far. Finally having a second chance to make things right, Logan is fully prepared to being with Thea again. What he’s not prepared for is having a five year old daughter he knew nothing about. With a shock like this, will Logan and Thea be able to move forward ? or will their daughter be the only thing that will hold them together?

First let me say that I absolutely loved the simplicity of these characters!! They were easy going and I just liked that they didn’t need much to make them happy because they were already happy. I also loved the fact that this author made the Logan and Thea’s lifestyles completely different and we saw how they both tried to fit into each other’s world. It wasn’t easy at times and this author never tried to shy away from their struggles so I appreciated. Aside from two issues that bothered me, I really enjoyed this story and I think if you’re in the mood for a sweet, laidback romance with swoonworthy hero, this one is most definitely for you.

It's a second chance romance book. With good storyline and refreshing point of view. Our hero "Logan"....the man was genuinely a sweetheart. But what impressed me the most was the way the "Thea" character portrayed as a mentally strong/ protective mother. How reality makes people tough was explained in this book in a very good way. And the supporting characters were just brilliant. I really enjoyed the story. Wanted something sweet and light after an intense book.....and I got it!

I’m feeling a little Tattered…

I think romance authors could do us a favour and put a *HORMONAL DISCLAIMER* at the beginning of the book. Maybe something along the lines of…

- If you’re hormonal, please make sure all sharp objects are removed from your presence
– O R –
- If you’re hormonal, please make it known to family members that this book could make you a wee bit emotional.

I realllllllly struggle reading emotional reads at certain times of the month. Now, I’m sure not everyone has the highs and lows when they’re hormonal, but this little chickadee gets a little punchy, screamy, cry…y RIGHT ABOUT NOW. So, when hubby AND Logan (the hero of Tattered) do stupid, numbskully things, let’s just say, it would be a good idea to LEAVE ME THE HECK ALONE!!!

I really enjoyed Tattered. Sure, there were a few times that I felt a little stabby because the NUMBSKULL was oblivious to what was going on in front of him, but it wasn’t all his fault. See, he can blame most of it on the money. Logan has money…lots and lots of money. This money has given him the freedom to make decisions based solely on his happiness. I can’t really blame him though because he doesn’t know any better. You grow up where your wish is your command, of course, you’re going to expect anything you want to fall in your lap. So, imagine poor Logan’s surprise when his wish doesn’t fall willingly in hip lap.

Thea and Charlie are Logan’s “wish” he wants to fall into his lap. Thea, for naughty (sexy) reasons and Charlie, to make up for all the cuddles he’s missed in her short life. Now that he’s found them, there’s no way he’s letting them go. It’s Logan’s job to convince them that by his side, and hopefully, in his world, he can give them everything they wish for.

Thea has had a pretty rough life up until now. She’s finally found a good place in Lark Cove to bring up her daughter Charlie. With good friends, a career she enjoys and a small town by the water, she couldn’t have wished for more for Charlie and herself.

Charlie is the best thing to ever happen to Thea. When she finally comes face to face with Logan Kendrick, Charlie’s dad, she’s worried that her dreams will be left in tatters. Will he demand custody? Will he make them move? Is their happiness inconsequential to his?

Is it bad that I’m surprised when an author goes by the way of a realistic storyline instead of angst for the sake of angst storyline? Sure, there’s heat of the moment stuff that can happen realistically (in romance reads), but, I think sometimes we’re expected to believe that a kiss makes you stupid. An example…If someone I’m threatened by kissed me, there is absolutely no way I’d forget they’re a threat, let alone start throwing my clothes off. It was refreshing that Thea was strong, independent, mature and a mother who considers her daughter's happiness and wellbeing. Obviously, Thea eventually throws her clothes off (come on, it's a Devney Perry), but she first assessed the possible repercussions and made the decision to risk her heart. I liked it, I liked it a lot.

Tattered was the kind of story that I felt proud (in a sucked into my book world, kind of way) for knowing Thea and seeing her reach her goals, stand by her morals and fight for her daughter’s happiness. I would have liked to have seen Thea compromise with Logan a little more. A little more, I appreciate your sacrifice, I’m willing to do this to see you happy…kind of more. He seems to have sacrificed considerably more than she did. Sure, I can see that it was probably for the best, but I felt like it was a bit one-sided. I believe she could have moved a smidge.

Another fantastic story by Devney Perry that took me on an emotional journey to a big goofy smile at the end. This is a steamy story that had my heart pumping. It was easy to see the connection between Thea and Logan. We're even treated to a little intrigue and Logan must use all his connections to protect and save the woman he loves.

I can’t wait for more in the Lark Cove series.

This book just melted my heart. Being a single mom myself, this book held a bit more meaning for me as a reader. I'm not really surprised because this author truly has a gift for storytelling and she captivates me every time I open up one of her books.

Tattered is about an accidental pregnancy, single mom and a second chance story all rolled into one. The best part...it was due to no fault of either characters for the separation between father and child. You get to learn about these characters and love them with out being disappointed by anyone's actions.

On top of such a beautiful story, the setting the author describes to us about Lark Cove and all the small town characters pulls you right into this town as if you are living there yourself. I love when a book can do that. I read to get a break from real life and that's exactly what Tattered accomplished here.

This was truly a great start to a new series and I will try to wait patiently for the next Lark Cove couple to fall in love with. ARC provided by Author.

She's celibate for six years after him because she had a baby and was a single mom. Meanwhile, he falls in love with someone and begs her to marry him multiple times, but he declines, then hooks up briefly with the typical vile OW2.

I am SOOOO tired of this plotline and for my own mental health am rewriting what happened in his absence.

I tried reading this a while back and stalled around the 40% mark. Timid appealed to me so I decided to finish this one. I had problems ....

I'm not a fan of long separations where the hero moves on and has other relationships but the heroine doesn't. Who says being a single mother means you can't have a sexual relationship? Ridiculous.

“Please, don’t take her away from me.”

With her Jamison Valley series and its motley crew of characters that have made us love each new story more than the last, Devney Perry’s books have quickly become synonymous with small town romances that are sexy, charming, and everything in between, and while she continues to spread her wings by crafting compelling, well-written, vibrant stories that never fail to resonate with readers, Perry is once again staying true to her roots. We are back in small-town Montana, with a book that combines two of my favourite romance tropes—a surprise pregnancy and a second chance romance—but this story is far more than just that. It’s complex and intense, thoughtful and heartwarming, and with a subtle thread of suspense running through it, every word was like catnip to me.

Let me just start by saying, it doesn’t get any better than this! I absolutely loved Thea, Logan and Charlie!

description

Thea grew up being discarded and unwanted. New York was a place of misery and pain. When a one night stand leaves her pregnant she moves to Montana where the only family she’s ever known lives. It is there she begins to build her confidence back up and raise her child.

description

Logan has bad memories of Montana so he’s not happy about his visit there. However, one visit to the local restaurant/bar in Lark Cove and he can’t believe what he’s seeing. Years ago he had had a one night stand with Thea. Afterwards, life got in the way and he missed the opportunity to make something more with her. Now his whole life has changed between one breath and the next.

description

Oh man I loved both of these characters. Thea, while being secure in her life and finding extreme joy in her daughter, Charlie, still held herself back from making attachments with others. It was going to take more than empty words to break down the walls she had built. Logan was so gun-ho about pulling Thea and Charlie into his life, he just couldn’t stop long enough to see that just because he willed something so, it would actually come true. I did wonder if he’d ever open his eyes to truly see the struggles Thea was experiencing. Let me assure you, it is possible to love a hero and still want to smack him upside the head.

description

The issues this couple faced seemed insurmountable without someone walking away losing a bit of their heart and soul. I hurt for them as they fought against the conflict, accepted it, and had to make hard decisions that would leave them both broken. I wanted to rant and rave because the angst at that point was so gut wrenching! They belonged together and yet life was pulling them apart!

description

It’s no secret this is a secret baby book but this author covered this issue in a manner that neither Thea nor Logan were responsible for the secrecy. They were each pretty much free from guilt which gave this story the ability to be and do more than most books with this trope do.

This is such a well written story with a smooth pace, never bogging down and never a place I wanted to skim. The chemistry between these two was fierce and neither could ever deny that. I felt that Charlie’s character was true to that of a six year old and other secondary characters were just as amazing and well developed. There is so much potential for future books here! But for now I’m going to just sit back and relax in the intense joy and satisfaction that I found in this book.

This book was a delightful surprise, I was meant to take a peek at the first few pages before I went to sleep and ended up getting lost in the book, stopping only when I was too tired to enjoy the read.

This book is a surprise pregnancy, single mom and a second chance story, the writing flows well and the story is an engaging one. The chemistry between Logan and Thea worked well.

I loved Thea’s confidence as a woman and mother, she was a fab main character. She is brave enough to do what is right for her and her daughter in the long run, even if it makes her heart ache.

Logan was also a pretty great main character – although early in the book I did wish he was less cocky about thinking he could persuade Thea to uproot her and Charlie’s entire lives and move to New York, but once he realises what he really needs to do, and what is best for everyone, I loved his focus in ensuring things would work.

Charlie was adorable and a charming addition to many of the scenes in the book.

A book I will definitely be re-reading.
