I loved the first two books in this series and wanted to love this one so much, but I was soooo bored by this plot and didn't feel really any connection between the couple. I will admit I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator of the audiobook, so that may have hindered my enjoyment of the story, but not a whole lot happened in this book beyond them hanging out together. This was super low angst and focused on Ryan adjusting to finally seeking help for his anxiety and depression and the other hero 100% accepting him with no judgement at all, which I really loved seeing in this book, but the story itself just didn't keep my interest and I wanted a lot more from the romance. ...more
I really wanted to love this. The heroine is a spy and is forced to work with the hero as a married couple to uncover a stolen copy of the DeclarationI really wanted to love this. The heroine is a spy and is forced to work with the hero as a married couple to uncover a stolen copy of the Declaration of Independence. I really liked how the heroine didn't like the hero when they met and how she is very stubborn. But I feel like that tension resolved too quickly and they decided they liked each other too early in the book. Because of that, I was a bit bored by the romance. When it came to the spy plot line, I also felt a bit underwhelmed. Not a whole lot happened on that front until about halfway through the book when they finally go undercover in the household. Even then, they were just sneaking around and that was really it. I was expecting a more exciting mission and I was left a bit disappointed not hat front. I still enjoyed being in another Beverly Jenkins historical and how much history was in this book, but the romance and enticing plot were a bit lacking for me. ...more

She's a single mom running the inn and I couldn't wait to see how her story played out. Maisy was part of the kidnapping that happened in book one and she's now just trying to raise her son while running a successful inn. The moment Hunter steps into her inn, though, she's at a loss for words. Hunter is mysterious and gorgeous and Maisy can't help the way she feels around him. While she doesn't know a lot about him, they find themselves hanging out more and falling for each other. I really enjoyed how Hunter genuinely loved Maisy's son and how protective Maisy was of her son. Their romance was cute and I loved seeing all of the other couples from the series pop up in this book. I will say that I was a bit annoyed at Maisy for not demanding answers from Hunter that ended up causing a lot of problems in the end of the book. If she had just asked about him and not let him keep so many secrets, they could have avoided so many of their problems. I know he didn't want her to know because of reasons, but I'm not sure how she could date a guy and now know simples things about him and be completely fine with it, especially if he was around her son. Other than that small thing, though, I really enjoyed this single mom, small town romance! ...more

The beginning of this book had so much promise, but I quickly lost interest and didn't care about this romance. In the beginning, I liked Sesily enough. I was really intrigued by her relationship with Tom and how that was going to play out. There were some exciting times where Sesily gets into trouble and they have to fight their way out of situations. I enjoyed how she didn't care about getting into danger or trouble and would carry weapons on her. But the overall plot was so boring to me and not a while lot really happens. There were a lot of characters and some background information that wasn't explained well, so I felt like I was missing information I was supposed to already have going into this book. About halfway through the book, I was pretty bored and didn't really want to keep reading. I finished to see if things ended up getting interesting, but not a whole lot was happening and I wasn't really into the romance. ...more

Since this is book two, I can't say too much about the plot. This is a reverse harem where the heroine falls for her friend's three brothers. Things really shake up between the brothers and I really enjoyed how this focused a lot more on their brothers, their relationship with each other, and their protectiveness over Juliet. There's a lot of danger and suspense in here too and it was definitely entertaining! I'm not sure how everything is going to wrap up! ...more

It is a love triangle and deals with the repercussions of the two heroes joining the military at the end of book one. This one was even more emotional than book one and forced the characters to face the consequences of their actions. I loved the emotions! I did love the angst in book one, but this one explored more about the characters and what they wanted out of life and why they made the decisions they did. I feel like the characters definitely matured in this book and I really enjoyed the conclusion to this duet! ...more
Such a good ending to this series! This was a really solid small town romance series from Catherine Cowles and I really enjoyed reading each 4.5 stars
Such a good ending to this series! This was a really solid small town romance series from Catherine Cowles and I really enjoyed reading each book. This one is actually a super sweet marriage of convenience and I really loved the slow romance between Anna and Mason. Anna made some bad choices when she was young and ended up in jail and taking the fall for someone she shouldn't have trusted. Now, she's made her way into a life she loves running a homeless shelter. When her sister suddenly dies, Anna is determined to take the children and raise them herself so that they are not left with her abusive parents. With her past, though, Anna is terrified she won't be able to keep the kids. Mason has worked at the shelter and has been nothing but nice to Anna. He wants to be there for her and offers to marry her in order to look better to the court. The two strike up a friendship as Mason just wants to protect and support Anna and her kids. This was just a super sweet romance and I really enjoyed how it blooms while Anna was trying to gain custody of the kids. As with the rest of the books in this series, there is a bit of suspense at the end and some villainous characters. But I think it was a super sweet way to end the series and I really enjoyed it! ...more
I was so nervous to pick up this book. So many of my friends love it, but I know it takes placeTW for school shooting and loss of a loved one
4.5 stars
I was so nervous to pick up this book. So many of my friends love it, but I know it takes place in a school setting with a forbidden romance. I had to ignore how this would look in real life (that's just too horrible for me to think about as someone who works in education), but I fell in love with this book and this romance. Dani survived a school shooting where she lost her mother, and she's not sure how to move on. Now living with her brother and attending a new school, she's required to talk to the counselor every day. Dani's not interested in making friends, but she finds Lachlan, her counselor, is the only one she feels safe with and who she has a connection with. Very slowly the two start to fall for each other and I really appreciated how slow burn this romance was. Neither one of them wanted to fall for each other, but it happened. I enjoyed how much they saw each other outside of school and I was so in love with Lachlan's dog! There was a desperation to their romance because they couldn't stay away from each other but they new it was wrong, and I love those kinds of romances. I also really appreciated how their love had some true repercussions and it was never easy to be together. I also loved Dani's journey as a character and her growth all throughout and especially at the end. There was just so much emotion in this book about a girl who has lost so much in her life, and it was truly a special story. ...more

I think the pacing was a bit weird and I literally thought a chunk of the book was cut out because it just jumped forward a lot and I had no idea what was going on. Then there were other parts that were really slow and I didn't really care for. I love the idea of these two people spending a magical time stranded in the airport and then meeting later and having to act totally different with each other in a professional setting. But I didn't really care? I wasn't drawn to this romance and just wanted to be done to move on to my next book. ...more

I was so nervous picking this up. I see this book everywhere, especially consistently in the top ten in the Amazon kindle store. I didn't know too much about the book going in, but I had no idea it would have so many tropes I love! Naomi arrives in town after her twin sister has asked her for help. Little does she know, no one in the town, likes her sister and her sister had actually set her up to steal from her and leave her daughter with her. Now, Naomi has to stay in a town that hates her because of her sister and take care of her niece that she never knew she had. And the moment she had arrived in town, Knox has been butting heads with her and demanding she leave town. She's there to stay, though, and her and Knox end up fake dating while Naomi is trying to be a good parent for her niece. I really enjoyed the level of comedy in here as a rom com. The comedy wasn't over the top at all and there were actually quite a few funny moments. I loved the small town aspect of everyone knowing everyone and their business and that affecting Knox and Naomi's relationship. I do think that this book went on a little too long and that the sister was a bit too over the top as a villain. But I really loved all of the side characters and how fleshed out they were, especially Naomi's niece. She was a fun character and made this story seem more like a single parent romance, which I loved. I'm already trying to guess who the next book will be and cannot wait to continue on with this series and with this town of characters! ...more

They have to spend a lot of time together, share hotel rooms, sit next to each other, drive to practice together...forced proximity galore! I loved how this was a grump/sunshine romance and how they slowly started to fall for each other as they spent more time with each other. Their dynamic was so fun and I really appreciated how Gavin had chronic pain and we got to see how that really affects someone and their ability to perform at such a high level as a professional athlete. They both end up being super sweet to each other, even if they pull pranks and get frustrated with each other. I just ate this story up and ended up listening to the entire audiobook in one day! ...more

They have such a history and such a deep connection, so when Ember had her accident and was in a comma for years, Asher never left her side. He never gave up on her or loving her. So when Ember finally wakes up, years later, and has no memory of who she is, Asher is both ecstatic but also helpless. His wife doesn't remember him and doesn't seem to want anything to do with him. Ember knows she had a life before she woke up, but she feels like Ember from before is a completely different person than the Ember she is now. I really loved the connection Ember and Asher shared, and I enjoyed watching Ember learn to trust Asher and open up to him. I wasn't the biggest fan of how much Ember changed herself in order to feel like a new person, especially how she did it behind Asher's back. I know she explained her reasoning, but I didn't love the extreme extent she went to. I did love seeing the characters from Torn in here and Ember's reaction to her daughter's current situation. This was definitely an emotional read, it just wasn't an absolute favorite of mine. ...more

This is called Timid because the heroine is very timid. She's shy and has had the biggest crush on our hero for literal years. He finally sees her and kisses her, but the next day he has no idea anything between them happened and she realizes it was because he was inebriated. But the hero suddenly sees the heroine in a new light and decides to pursue her. It was fine. I didn't really buy the reason the hero saw her in a different light. And then his decision to pull away for the third act break up really annoyed me. HE was the one who relentlessly pursued her, but now he's scared it's too much? What did he think would happen when they started dating?? I don't know, but it annoyed me more than anything. I wasn't the biggest fan of the hero or the heroine, so this book was just okay to me. ...more

Felicity wasn't a nice person in high school and her boyfriend ended up getting mixed up in drugs. Felicity always blamed herself, so when he dies because of the bad crowd he was a part of after they broke up, Felicity can't forgive herself. Felicity decides to come home to their small town and sees Silas, a guy from her past. Silas was always there for her and they definitely had feelings, but Felicity had dated someone else. When Felicity was single, she and Silas started a brief relationship, but Felicity left town and left Silas heartbroken. Now that she's back, Silas is determined to have Felicity. This one was okay. The two jumped into a physical relationship and it took awhile for them to admit they truly loved one another. I didn't love how Felicity was the "mean girl" in high school and that whole plot line. Sure she had changed, but then she judged other "mean girls" and it all just felt very high school when they were supposed to be adults. Then we had Silas's dad who was super mean to Felicity and I just didn't really care about that drama. All three books I've given three stars in this series and I think it's time for me to give up. ...more

Jeremy is taken off guard when Lucy shows up and just kisses him, but he feels very protective of Lucy and is intrigued by the chemistry they have. I loved all of the antics Lucy found herself in. I smiled throughout a lot of these scenes, but the second half did take a more serious turn when this became a marriage of convenience once Lucy felt a bit trapped by marrying something with a higher title. But that just forced her and her husband to have a talk with one another and address what was happening between them. Overall I enjoyed reading Tessa's first historical romance! ...more

Her first day there, though, she sees Claire, Astrid's best friend and a single mom. And she hits on Delilah the moment she steps into a bar, not realizing she's Delilah. I loved Delilah and Claire's dynamic and how they obviously were attracted to each other, but Claire didn't want to betray her best friend and she was dealing with drama with her daughter's father. Delilah also doesn't feel like she belongs and doesn't want any ties to their small town. But their chemistry as SO GOOD and I loved every moment Delilah and Claire were on page together. While this was a really good romance, there was also a lot to the friendships and relationships in this book. Delilah had to really reflect on her relationship with her sister and confront some misconceptions she had about their past. Then, Astrid, Iris, and Claire had the best friendship and I loved them all interacting. I do think I would have loved this even more if I hadn't listed on audio because I did feel like the story dragged a bit in the middle, but I really enjoyed this story overall! ...more

This was a super sweet small town romance about two people falling in love and trying to figure out life. I really enjoyed how Thea loved her small town life and wanted nothing to do with the big city life that Logan was currently living. Her daughter was adorable and I loved how it wasn't just super easy for Logan to be a part of her life and be an actual dad to her. By halfway through the book, they established that they loved each other and Leo wanted to get married. And then the rest of the book was him begging her to get married. The plot was just so underwhelming to me. We do get to learn more about Cat and her past, but I wanted so much more out of this romance. I did enjoy how much she meshed with his family and how we got to see all of the Hathaway siblings. I was just annoyed that Cat kept on telling Leo she couldn't be with him even though he was ready to go all in with her. That was the major conflict of this book?? It got old pretty quickly and I just lost interest in the book. Sadly, this has been my least favorite of the series so far. ...more
