Business or pleasure?

Former supermodel, Missy, has been cheated on (and by her fiance, no less), so she's got trust issues. A funny first meet with Nick literally almost knocks her off her feet, but he's all business.

I enjoyed the way Nick was able to worm his way into Missy's life through his business propositions by using charm and attraction. I loved the chemistry that was palpable between this couple and eagerly devoured those passages, but there were a few too many repetitions for me and there were a couple of random occurrences that bothered me a little, as they felt accidental to me.

Hatler always does a great job of bringing a side of humor to her plate of romance and the fun characters are the cherry on top. It's always a tasty treat to immerse myself into one of her stories for an afternoon and this one was no different. This series is comprised of short stories, but they always leave me feeling satisfied. Although there were a few small detours, this was still an enjoyable read.

Content: mild romance

Missy Nick
Fashionably Date was the first book I've read by this author. Overall this was a great book. Just wish there was a little more and not such a quick wrap up at the end an epilogue would have been awesome. But I did enjoy reading about Missy and Nick.

Who says you can't mix business with pleasure? Nick and Missy mixed a little business with pleasure when he talked her into a cross-promotion of his gym and her upscale clothing boutique. If you like meet-cutes they have a fun one. Nick saves Missy from falling, not once, but twice!!

Nick is a charmer and super swoony, but Missy's got major trust issues since her ex-fiance cheated on her with her maid of honor, so when Nick keeps a few things a secret she almost throws their blossoming relationship in the trash, so to speak. I liked Missy and completely understood her trust issues, but she was smart enough to listen to good advice from her friends. These two characters oozed chemistry--I could almost feel it through my Kindle.

I'm really enjoying this Do-Over Date series. The stories are clean romances short enough to enjoy in an afternoon or evening, and they always have a happy ending which is alway a plus in my book.

I liked Nick and Missy, who mixed business with pleasure. I enjoyed that ,although the sparks were flying, that they were both cautious. Missy was just getting over her breakup with her cheating ex and was reluctant to start a new romantic relationship, but fate intervened. Missy and Nick, with the help of our favorite coffee seller, find their way past misunderstandings to their HEA. I would definitely recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I binged this series this past week so I could read this story. The series does overlap with characters, but you could read this as a stand alone. This has been a fun series of quick reads. It's perfect for when you don't have a lot of time to invest in a book. Missy is a fun character. She has trust issues, but she is also a sweet independent woman. She's knocked off her feet by Nick and he is such a great character as well. There are some mixed signals, but thanks to the wonderful Courtney Carmichael they get straightened out. Courtney is a fun character in this series and I hope she gets a HEA story.

As a side note, there is a couple mentioned that isn't part of this series. I was interested in their story as well. It took a little hunting, but I finally found it. If anyone is interested in Claire and Alex's story, it's in Forever in A Kiss. I haven't read it yet, but the blurb says it includes Missy and her ex-fiance, which makes me even more interested.

Another fun story in the Do-Over Date Series.

I really liked Missy a lot. She was a fun character to read about and discover. She's been hurt in the past and has some walls built up around her to protect her. I loved her stepping back from her fashion model career to do something that she truly enjoyed. And her boutique sounded charming. I really liked how the author wrote Missy's character as being able to see the women who came into her boutique and help them find something to wear that complimented them as well as made them feel happy.

As with this author's other books, there's always a fun, silly and cute meeting of the main characters, and this one followed right along. And Nick is definitely a catch...or is it Missy that's the catch? ;-) You'll have to read to find out.

Missy is definitely hesitant to start up another relationship and starts seeing Nick for business purposes. But there's definitely chemistry between them. When things continue she's not sure if it's business of pleasure on Nick's part. I could definitely see her hesitancy in not knowing for sure what was going on between them. I know part of Nick's back and forth builds and creates the story and the drama between these two but I found myself a little frustrated over it at a couple different points in the story. The ending felt a bit too fast for their relationship but it was definitely a grand gesture and gave me a happy ever after ending.

Overall though it was a fun read and full of the humor and sweet romance that I love about this author's writing. I can always count on some great lines that have me chuckling, giggling or even guffawing out loud.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and to see how the author writes a fun story about an author with writer's block. It's gonna be great!

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.

I love these do over stories! I love seeing people finding another chance and getting some happiness!

Nick and Missy are two business owners who find that a merger of business and personal matters could be likely but issues from the past resurface and Missy’s pain might cause the biggest mistake of her life!

As always we have an amazing cast of characters that bring hilarity and support! I just would love some duel POV but overall great story

A story of a second chance. That is Missy Peters has given up on love after her fiancé was caught cheating with her maid of honor. Now after leaving life as a model she has opened a clothing boutique. She has no desire for love, she does like her morning coffee and her friends.
Nick Zambini owns a gym and meets Missy one morning at the coffee cart. After an easy met and saving a dog and her from getting hit by a bicycle they slowly find time for one another. Nick also wants to somehow combine their two businesses in a cross-promotion which she likes as well. The two of them work well together and also seem to mesh as a couple. That is until an old feeling comes back for Missy which makes her run. Now, will she go back to Nick or allow her fears to keep her away. This is a very good book and was a quick read with good characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Loved how Missy and Nick meet. While they are so attracted to each other Missy is hesitant to give love another chance- ex-fiance cheated on her. Loved how they combined business with a romance. The angst was upsetting - thought he should have understood why she was upset. Grand gestures on both parts was the best ending ever. I am so hoping the coffee cart owner Courtney Carmichael gets her own book!!!

Fashionably Date by Susan Hatler a fashionable five-star read. This is number five in the Do-Over Date series, but I have read it as stand-alone and didn’t feel like I missed anything. This was super easy to read and I really enjoyed it, Nick and Missy were such easy to like characters, even when you wanted to knock their heads together as they couldn’t see the wood for the trees. But they have a great story and one you will enjoy, but its wasn’t just them that made this story for me, it was the great secondary characters that I enjoyed meeting.

A sweet, fun romance

I have known for years that I can rely on Susan Hatler for fun, romantic stories that are just perfect for a couple hours of escape. So I am always happy to grab her new books when they are available!

Thrown together when Missy rescues a puppy and Nick rescues Missy, they are instantly attracted to one another. Though Missy is determined to never trust a man and never enter into a relationship again, she figures spending time with the handsome gym owner isn't going to hurt, right?

Nick was the ultimate swoony hero. Tall, dark, and handsome, with an Italian accent to boot. Add to that that he was a classy dresser and loved the opera (okay, I'd be fine without that one!), art, and knew how to create a romantic atmosphere. Nice!

I didn't quite understand how Nick, if he had the impeccable fashion sense that he apparently did, would not have seen how badly his athletic wear line would clash with the boutique offerings in Missy's store. For that to work better, he shouldn't have had such great taste.

With everything going so well between them, it was inevitable for problems to arise; after all, how boring would the story be with no conflict. As both Missy and Nick have trust issues - she with trusting a man, him with hurt over not being trusted - you guessed it, this was the area of contention. While I could see why each reacted the way they did, I felt that Nick was a bit unreasonable when he pretty much just insisted Missy trust him with no explanation.

With both Nick and Missy being interested in fashion and art, and with both being on the wealthy side, they did come across as a little superficial and shallow, though I think that was more because of the author's emphasis on them having an interest in those things in common rather than because of who they were.

If you enjoy short, sweet, swoony romances, make sure you consider Fashionably Date.

Who’s giving this five stars? It was a story rather than a novel. The main characters meet, go on five dates, have a brief misunderstanding and then the guy proposes. During a news conference. Sorry. Not enough meat on the bones. I need a whole lot more story line. More character development. Took two hours to read. Thank goodness.

This is book five of the Do-Over Date series and the main characters are former supermodel Missy Peters and gym owner Nick Zambini, who meet up at a coffee stall when she takes a tumble, then saves her from harm again, when she rushes into traffic to save a puppy. Missy has opened a upscale fashion clothing boutique, after moving to the city following the betrayal of her fiancé just before their wedding, leaving her bereft and wishing to be as far from him and her former life as possible. She persuaded her best friend and hopeful author, Michelle, to come and share her new penthouse apartment, but is being pushed to date again. Nick owns a few businesses and had recently taken over the running of the gym, Totally Fit and is releasing a new line of fitness apparel. When he meets Missy, he believes they would be able to work well together and should bring together her wish for everyone to look good and feel good, with his wish to help everyone feel and become their best.
They agree to a business date, an outing to the opera, with business to be discussed at the intermission! She finds Nick to be handsome and very intelligent, with very similar business working ethics and desires for growth, but also begins to feel so much more for him and she isn’t sure that it is reciprocated when all he seems to mention is business. She can’t get him out of her mind and Michelle even begins to think Nick is a figment of her imagination, until she brings her along to the coffee stand, at the same time of day when she had previously first met him, hoping to see him again. He had the same idea and she gets slightly embarrassed, having asked out loud of the stands owner, whether she had seen Nick. He takes her out to the opera, but they don’t talk business at all. Missy is still finding it difficult to trust another man after her past experience, whilst Nick has the complete opposite problem in that his former love refused to believe he was faithful and he couldn’t do anything to prove it to her! A couple of lovely and original dates follow, but her lack of trust raises it head again, when she glimpses a text on his phone. He won’t explain what it means, only saying she should trust him and she will find out what it was about eventually, but she doesn’t accept that!
It looks like their relationship is over as she walks out, but she is haunted by what could have been and how her emotions are in such turmoil with her decision. They are still linked through a new line of sports apparel, an improvement on his previous apparel made by Missy’s wedding dress designer, linking all three businesses in a new business opportunity, that Missy still needs to advertise in a huge promotion event a week or so later, in her shop. The wise words of her best friend, but more sage words from the coffee stand business owner herself, makes her rethink her actions and lack of trust. Does she want to throw away what seems to be a perfect relationship, both in her business and personal life, all for her previous bad experience, or should she have given him a better chance to explain and trust in his actions? She has a lot to think about and process, but so has Nick. Two like-minded workaholics have finally have met their match in life and love and it is only themselves they can trust in to make a decision about their futures. Barriers need to be broken and a HEA ending can be achieved. A nice short story of similar people, with opposite issues from the past, falling for each other and having to overcome their problems if they want the future they are meant to have together. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

(3.5 to 4 stars) - Conflicting trust issues!

It sure seems irreconcilable - Missy's been cheated on by her ex-fiance, and Nick's insecure ex constantly thought he was cheating.

This has Susan Hatler's signature fun & flirty style with main characters who manage to be both gorgeous and sympathetic. It gets off to a terrific start as the two meetcute and their relationship develops with just a few questionable moments to keep Missy (& us) wondering what those are about & what's going on in Nick's head.

*** SPOILERS ***
I understand Nick's frustration at being doubted when he hasn't given Missy a reason to doubt - but a text like that WAS a reason to at least question. And his answer was hardly reassuring - even though he could have been so by promising her that she'd know soon or telling her it's a surprise.

Presumably, he was being hypersensitive because of his previous relationship, but he had to have recognized that he was making it worse for her, knowing full well what her fiance had done to her.

However, trust isn't given, it's something that's earned. I don't think it's fair to Missy to expect her to fully trust Nick when she hasn't known him that long yet, they've barely established a relationship, & they haven't had much of an opportunity to prove their trustworthiness yet.

Trust in relationships doesn't develop from closing your eyes & jumping "all in". It comes from getting to know each other better & experiencing those moments that demonstrate your partner's got your back

I would have liked for them both to apologize for how they handled the situation, and promise to talk things out from now on

The reconciliation was sweet, but a ring? Nuh uh, way too soon. They barely know each other & still haven't learned how to communicate - or if they can.

So the 1st half of the story is easily 4.5 to 5 stars, but the 2nd half is a 3. The romance is entertaining, but the 2 frustrations above really impacted my enjoyment.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

I love this author’s stories because they are so realistic, so believable and relatable. In this case, we have two good people whose past relationships affect their ability to trust the current one completely. For Missy Peters, her ex-fiancé pulled the rug out from under her confidence when he cheated on her before the wedding. Therefore, she will be more sensitive to anything that makes her doubt or question. She needs reassurance, at least until she learns she can trust. She opens an upscale clothing boutique in another city to start over. Trying to save a puppy that runs into traffic, she herself has to be rescued by gym owner Nick Zambini who pulls her to safety. For Nick, his insecurity is an ex who constantly thought he was cheating. So being questioned when he had done nothing wrong was a sore spot for him.

Nick and Missy decide that their businesses can complement each other if they work together. Although Missy is supportive of the idea, she is still not ready to trust. That will take time and reinforcing experiences. So when she questions Nick about something that bothers her, it brings up his defensiveness as each of them responds to a trigger from the past. Will being with Nick help her to trust enough to take a chance on love? Or will his not being straightforward when she needs an answer push her away?

The story line is really good, the characters are likable, and the reader can understand their reactions. Better communication would be helpful, but those who fear getting hurt usually withdraw rather than talk about it. Grab your copy and see how these two will respond. Can they get a HEA or will fears make that impossible?

Missy's former fiance cheated on her with her maid of honour, so she's understandably wary of men. When workaholic Nick saves her from an accident as she rescues a puppy from the road, sparks fly, but she tries to tell herself that she's only interested in dating casually, and at first it seems as though he's only interested in a work partnership anyway. When she discovers something that suggests he's cheating too, will she choose to go all in and trust him, or listen to her own fears?

This felt a little more 'cookie-cutter' than many of the author's books, so I wasn't quite as keen on it, but it was still a good light read as a brief escape. Overall, though, the story is fun and has the important message that if you care for someone and want a relationship with them, you have to really be willing to 'go all in' and trust them unless you have proof that they're lying. An enjoyable read, clean and well written. It's nothing too deep, but sometimes that's what you want.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

He saves her while she is saving a puppy.........and the puppy ends up saving them both

Fashionably Date is the fifth book in the Do-Over Date Series by Susan Hatler. This is a sweet and very clean (no knocking boots or panty melting scenes in this one) romance story about Missy Peters and Nick Zanbini. They both have baggage that they are dragging from previous relationships. For her it was a cheating ex-fiance and for him it was an insecure girlfriend who thought he was cheating. Missy is starting over in a new city and with a new business. Nick owns a gym. When he rescues her while she is rescuing a puppy things spark but it is a slow burn as they journey along the road to a HEA.

I enjoyed Fashionably Date as it is a sweet, fun, and light story even though both characters are dealing with some emotional scars that they need to put to bed in order to have a future. I liked that they first were in a business relationship that allowed them to be in each others lives without the pressure of a romantic relationship, even though they were both thinking about it. Susan Hatler's books are great as a light read between heavier and darker books as she is always able to bring humor into her stories and characters.

I received an ARC from the author. Missy meets Nick when she saves a puppy from traffic and he saves her from a bicyclist. She owns a woman’s clothing store and Nick owns a fitness center. He wants her to cross promote with him. She is an ex super model and is reluctant to step back into that life. But of course he wears her down and she agrees. They also start seeing each other. Missy was hurt before and is overly cautious. Which also puts a wedge between them. But Nick isn’t like her ex at all. Another great story! Love this series!

What a great short but sweet little romance. This was a super clean romance with a great story line, easy to love characters, and a HFN ending.

This book part of a series, but each book can be read as a stand alone and in any order. I have been bouncing around this series and have loved every book so far. Susan Hatler has a great way of putting words to the page and making a beautiful and easy to visualize picture. So entertaining and heart warming. Gives hope and encouragement to find your own happily ever after. What a great "feel good" story.

Written as a 1st person, single pov with a HFN ending.

This book has loads of laughs, a few awkward moments and a few communication issues as we see Missy and Nick navigate their budding business relationship or is it romantic relationship? These 2 flip flop between what they think they want vs what they think the other wants vs what their heart wants. I loved both of them as they are successful, she has sass and he is delicious and both of them have flaws they need to work through if we want to see a happy ever after, fortunately they also have Courtney who makes the best coffee in the city and more and the Michelle the best friend to Missy and writer looking for a muse!

Missy goes to start a business and a new start after her ex dumps her. She owns a boutique. One day she runs into traffic to save a puppy. Nick rescues her from traffic. There is an instant attraction and they join forces to start a new business venture. She is a little guy shy after her ex but will these two workaholics find something more? These books are all just witty and warm and clean. The characters are warm and relatable, and this is just a wonderful story. The interaction between Missy and Nick was wonderful.

I loved this novel a lot. The characters were complete and realistic. The heroine had flaws and insecurities but was able to overcome throughout the novel. I enjoyed the plot. The story developed and progressed well. All the events were connected and felt in sync. All in all, I loved this story. It is now one of my favourites from Susan!

The story follows Missy Peters, ex-supermodel turned boutique owner. She believes in the motto “Look good, feel good.” She’s been burnt by a cheating rascal who destroyed their relationship by cheating on her with the maid of honour. She runs into Nick at Courtney Carmichael’s coffee cart, the best coffee place in SF. He saves her when she is about to fall. He also saves her when she runs into oncoming traffic to save a puppy. After those two instances, they decide to walk and talk. There is an undeniable spark. That is until Nick proposes that they work together and cross-promote.

I simply adore Susan Hatler's writing. It is at a crisp easy pace, the narrative is excellent and the plots and characters are funny, believable, and interesting, and this novel did not disappoint. Missy and Nick are a match made in a classy boutique heaven, and spending time with them is worth rooting for their happy-ever-after.

I loved this book. Susan Hatler is a wonderful romance author and I love all of her series. Missy was hurt when she caught her fiancée with her maid of honor. She quit modeling and opened her own clothing boutique. Nick owned a gym and saved Missy from falling then getting run over by a bicyclist. Nick asked her to go into business together. Missy tried not to fall for Nick but ended up falling for him. She had to decide to trust him when she saw a text from another woman who had been at his house. I could not put this book down.

Like Missy I was unsure at times if Nick was interested in her for business or romance. They'd kiss and then he would pull away. She kept telling herself she didn't want anything more than casual, but their feelings got stronger. I felt their romance escalated too fast especially after having a rocky jealous moment. But I like the idea of their new clothing line combing both business concepts.

Awwwwwwwwwwww, this one made me smile! Don’t get me wrong, these two coulda used more communication but overall? I loved them both!

Missy Peters is a former supermodel – okay, let’s face it, I was gonna pre-judge her personality however it turns out she is very sweet. And fun. And snarky – a quality I LOVE in my book characters as well as my friends. It won’t be a spoiler, as you find out in the first paragraph, but her ex-fiancé cheated on her with her maid of honor so she is a wee bit gun shy around men. (Who does that??? I mean, ex-SUPERMODEL!) She has a busy life, owns a new business, has a just-as-snarky novelist roommate (love her, too!) and may be a wee bit lonely. As she puts it, she’s on a man-diet, though.

So what’s the first thing that happens in the book? She literally falls into the arms of some serious man candy. They definitely have a meet-cute but you have to read it for yourself. His name is Nick Zambini and is just as yummy as the picture his name conjures up in your mind. He, too, has some personal issues and definitely gives Missy some mixed signals but their story is just perfect.

I SO enjoyed them getting to know one another, their “business” relationship development, I loved reading about the growing feelings between them. Fast-ish read but has a lot of heart. Love all these books from this author; they make me heart-smile.

Missy and Nick meet in the most unusual way. Nick jumps out into the street to save her as she’s saving a puppy. She’s been hurt by her ex cheating and just doesn’t know if she can trust anymore. Will she open her heart to Nick or ruin a good thing?
