Wild Wind

Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley brings a new story in her Chaos series…

When he was sixteen years old, Jagger Black laid eyes on the girl who was his. At a cemetery. During her mother’s funeral.

For years, their lives cross, they feel the pull of their connection, but then they go their separate ways.

But when Jagger sees that girl chasing someone down the street, he doesn’t think twice before he wades right in. And when he gets a full-on dose of the woman she’s become, he knows he finally has to decide if he’s all in or if it’s time to cut her loose.

She’s ready to be cut loose.

But Jagger is all in.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Wild Wind is Jagger Black's story and oh my goodness- this one was amazing. Definitely the best book KA has put out in the last year or two IMO. I loved it so much. I've got a soft spot for Chaos. It's my favorite MC series and I couldn't wait to get more.

Jagger and his heroine, Archie have a unique meet cute. They meet at a cemetery. Archie is the girl across the way and Jagger is the boy who helps get her through one of the hardest days of her life.

After that meeting and connection, they run into each other several times throughout the years. It's like fate wants them to be together, but the timing never seems quite right. Until it is. Once Archie and Jagger decide to give it a go, things get serious quickly. Even though they're a new couple, it feels like they've known each other for forever, and in a big way, they have.

I loved Archie and Jagger's relationship, but just as equally I loved watching Jagger come to terms with his place in the world and learn more about the father he never knew. This one brought out so many feels for me. I had high hopes for this one and it lived up to all my expectations and then some.

Wild Wind can be read as a stand-alone, but for those who love Chaos, you're in for a real treat.
Because he was hers. And he had been since she was fourteen. And she was his. She knew this. Because she had been since eternity.

The 1001 Dark Nights Series is a collection of novellas by various authors set in already established worlds or series.  It is so you can get a glimpse into the world and writing of that series in a stand-alone book.  I generally like this idea but Wild Wind a novella set after the Chaos Series wrap up is not a really good representation of why I normally like Kristen Ashley.

I’ve read 50+ books by Ashley and normally her stories work for me.  But every once and awhile there is something that just crashes and burns and all the stuff that I generally like from KA books like the Descriptions of décor, the family drama, the alpha male of it or the social commentary just fall flat and I have to say that seems to be the issue with Wild Wind.

Jagger and Archie spend about ten years just missing each other or getting their stuff together.  He saw her on the day her mom died and knew she was something special.  Their meeting was interesting and I really enjoyed the quirky punkiness of Archie and the woman she became.  Her eclectic style was really cool.  Overall, Jagger is a good guy and easy to like as well.  I did like them as a couple and so the book wasn’t a total dud for me.  And like all Ashley books there are some really cool emotional scenes.

The issues I had with this book in the series is that there is no big struggle really.  There are a few family issues and trouble from a couple kids in Junior high but it didn’t have the higher octane struggles like kidnapping, murder or organized crime of Ashley’s other books and so the plot of the story just really dragged.  Archie and Jag do spend a lot of time getting it on, but Jag’s struggle in the book is figuring out how to deal with some aspects of his dad’s death.

The other big issue I had for Wild Wind was it felt preachy.  I preface this by saying I don’t care what race/sexuality/gender you are.  People are people and I wish we’d stop throwing so many labels around. That said can we just pick one social issue to advocate for instead of trying to throw all of them into a novella at once?  It was like Ashely was trying to point out how her diverse her cast was.  The bad kids were white male, while the kids being picked on were ethnic.  Archie runs an afterschool hang out for intercity youth in her shop which is cool but again it was another social commentary on intercity youth and lower income families.  Then she added in interracial couples (is that even still a thing?) and a trans type character and someone else who was pan sexual.  I mean just stop, it is a novella with little to no plot. Even her step sisters were granola and bourgeoisie.  Pick one issue and role with it not all the race/gender/sexuality/class issues at once splattered with decorating descriptions.

This is not really a good example of her best work and so I would possibly recommend reading one of her other novellas in the 1001 Dark Night Series which in my opinion were all better.

Narration:
Stella Bloom is a staple in a few of Kristen Ashley's series and she has a fantastically sultry voice that is wonderful for romance.   This was my first listen to John Hartley.  He is a natural and performed the male characters really well.  He is suited to giving good Alpha and I'm excited to hear him in a few more of Ashley's books as he seems like a really good fit for them.  I listened to Wild Wind at my usual 1.5x speed.

I adore Kristen Ashley and her Chaos series and the 1001 nights series is awesome. Everything about this has been great. I've been introduced to some new to me series and authors and gotten some new stories from series and authors I already love.

I don't think there could ever be enough of the Chaos series. And each of these novellas have been perfect additions.

Archie and Jagger were typical Kristen Ashley characters. The way they met was so unique and sweet and I couldn't get enough of them together. And as always the posse of friends in Archie's circle were a perfect compliment to the story. Plus we got the Chaos brotherhood.

I loved getting more of Hound and Keeley and Graham's boys. I really wasn't expecting Jagger's story to be quite as emotional as this one was. Which was short sighted of me considering the history. No doubt the next series from Kristen Ashley will be just as addictive as this one.

It's okay.
Readers of the Choas series will want to read it.
I'm not sure it's one I'd reread. It's not terrible and there's no actions that readers found offensive like in Standing Still.
I felt there was a bit of waffle and nonsense with some secondary characters that I wasn't bothered about.

Dual POV.
The Hero and heroine meet, sort of, they see each other across a cemetery and make eye contact,  11 years ago.
They feel a connection of sorts.
This spans over the 11 years, occasionally bumping into each other and sharing a few moments of that connection.
During those years they both date, some of the times they bump into each other they are with their respective other.
During these years, events overlap with his mother getting together with the man he considers his dad.

I don't know but some comments just seemed a bit odd to me.
' he was frustrated that his father’s wife wasn’t hooking up with a man his father considered a brother.'
Not his mother wasn't hooking up with his father's friend.

I'm not sure about the heroine using the term ' brother'
And now it's time for Google...

'This isn’t a Lionel Richie koozie.”
A Lionel Richie what?'
And
' “Is dinner gonna be caj?” she asked.
Annnnnnnd she could be a dork, calling “casual,” “caj.”'

It felt to me like they were the cool kids, or the author was trying for them to be.  They are in their 20's but the nonsense talk of abbreviations and Street language made me feel they were teens.
I feel that as in other books the author doesn't get this right.

The time they actually meet up that leads to the story the heroine gives me the Jules, from The Rock Chick series vibes.  The heroine offers help in her way to youngsters in a Fortnum type shop without the coffee, (Indie from Rock Chick.)

There are some links to Jagger's brothers book, as he dated Jaguar's girls sister and that history is revisited.
In that book he found out the sister was snorting coke and using him to get money.

The Hero and heroine bond over loss of a parent though Jagger was much younger when he lost his dad than Archie was when she lost her mum.
Basically things haven't gone well for Archie's family since her mum died so Jag tries to help with that.
There is a real emphasis put on the relationship between Hound and Jag and how he views him as a second dad.

The only ex drama is his ex but that's played down and they all get along happy, girl going shopping together.
No information about sexual history other than they are clean and 'covered.'

There were a few Classic KA sentences or paragraphs that I had to reread a few times to understand.
' And Hound had never brought it up, but Jag knew he knew about her because of the note he’d passed.
He didn’t know.
But he knew.
And Jagger was totally okay with that.
But not Dutch.
And with that…
Why?'

I think this is just her style and I'm going to have to accept it.

Another few odd quotes.
' She wanted to mistress his hair and make him ask her permission if he ever wanted to cut it.'
' She wanted his cock up her ass.
She wanted to claim his.
She wanted him to paint her toenails.'

Erm.......

When they get together it's very insta.  They feel this 'connection' they don't really know each other but are all in.

Secondary characters introduced.  Something KA does which I dont like is her friend, workmate constantly makes comments about how sexy Jagger is and 'how she just came', its just weird.

The main story is mostly about Jagger coming to terms with feeling worthy to be Black's son, everyone talks about how wonderful he was and yet Jag doesn't remember him.
And the secondary story is one of the heroine's kids at her group.

Drama from her brother.
Choas appear, esp Joker as Jag works with him on the custom work for the club.

There is also a Black and Tack scene from years ago as Jagger goes to Tack to hear about his father.

HEA.
Epilogue.

With her latest MC novella, Kristen Ashley gifts her readers with a sexy, heartwarming story about family and love.

Jagger and Archie were meant to be together. They were meant to be each other’s person regardless that they met when he was sixteen and didn’t even know their names until ten years later. Their love was fated, it was deep and swoony and sizzling hot. It was also about friendship, understanding, companionship, attraction and family and I knew I’d love it even before I opened it.

I’ve been a long time KA fan. I love that her books are always emotionally deep, meaningful with a dash a sweetness, a sprinkle of swoon and a dollop of sexiness no matter if they’re contemporary, paranormal or erotic romance. I always enjoy all the genres she writes in. Even though Wild Wind is supposed to be a novella, it’s really more of an M.C. full length novel.
“If you believe in God or fate or destiny or karma or whatever, I was there for you the day you needed me the most. And I may have fucked up along the way, but I’m standing right here telling you, unless shit goes south in a way neither of us can turn that tide, I’ll always be there for you.”

While Jagger and Archie’s story could be deemed as insta-love, it doesn’t really feel that way. Yes, they instantly connect when they see each other across a cemetery during her mother’s funeral, but it takes them a decade of random interactions for them to actually decide to do something about it.

I really enjoyed how KA developed Jag and Archie’s relationship which was completely gratifying. Of course there were hurdles to go over on both sides, but they both handled them with maturity and love that put this story squarely in the feel-good category.

As with all her books, KA writes with her own unique style I could identify with my eyes closed, which include a delicious alpha hero, a wonderful heroine, a great secondary characters both old and new, a wonderful sense of community, and a lot of intense feels including some tears on my end.

Facts: Wild Wind is “novella” #6.6 of the Chaos series by Kristen Ashley. It's really the length of a full novel. It’s told from both points of view with a happy ending. Genres: Contemporary Romance Tropes: Biker Romance | MC Romance | Alpha hero | Second chance romance

I was excited when this book came up for early review because I had just gotten reacquainted with KA’s words a few months ago and I wanted to read all the words now! I am still coming to terms with how wordy her stories can be, but I’m a different person/reader than I was years ago when I first began to read KA and appreciate her storytelling differently, better if you will.

After finishing this story, I couldn’t quite figure out what was the best part for me right away. It took some thought on my part and I have to say that the realism that KA put into J and A finally coming together, saying what needed to be said, and moving forward in their journey together was appreciated by me. It read so true to life that I was taken aback for a few. No drama for drama type of situation. They had spent so much time just missing each other that there was no room in their future to waste rehashing the should have could have of it all. At least that’s how I read the story. I liked that a lot about this story. It allowed for us to live in the today and tomorrow of their lives more than in the past. It made the story more captivating for me.

I felt the connection that J and A shared from the very beginning and as the story unfolded, the poignant journey that J was travelling. I loved every choice KA made with their journey. I loved the unique way in which they first laid eyes on each other and every moment forward. Even tho life got in the way plenty of times, their bond from the very beginning was strong and intense and survived. *sigh* I really want to go back to the very beginning with Mystery Man and have myself a Chaos binge now!

I know I have a huge bias toward Kristen Ashley's Chaos books. I don't know why, I can't explain it, and they're very different than my usual fantasy reads. But I love them.

This was a bittersweet read. As the last official entry in the Chaos MC series, I was sad. But I loved this one and Jagger finally got his story.

The many editing issues led to some distraction from the story. Had to reread a few lines to see what the author was trying to convey. Other than that I really enjoyed the story and characters and damn, I would have loved to have met Black Graham.

**Update**
This came out today! If you liked any of the Chaos series, grab this one. I think it is the best one of all of them and one of KA's best books. (And that is saying a lot people!) It has all the badass alpha biker vibes but with so much heart and emotion. Tack makes an appearance and it is...awesome! If you haven't read any Chaos, read this anyway. Haha!! Enjoy!

Kristen Ashley is a master of prose, a wizard with words. When she sits down to write...she writes...and the images she creates are colorful and real and descript. Now, I am a girl who loves a long book. I want to see it. I want to feel it. The pictures in my head are perfect and sometimes I even dream about characters and places.

I like to imagine Kristen Ashley does too, so these novellas are tough. I think I can feel in the words how hard it is for her to make the book shorter. The sentences are sometimes choppy like half of her thought just had to be cut. I think a lot of readers probably like and appreciate that; a more get to the point approach, but I miss all her words.

But let me let you in on a little secret, I was thinking this while reading the prologue. Then I hit chapter one. Yup, one-and the KA magic began. The girl across the way and the guy across the way became Archie and Jagger. The story became a fucking epic tale that started when they were teenagers and really began ten years later. A story centered on A.K.D.H.W.G (A tattoo full of meaning). Once Hound basically tells Jagger to man up or let her go, it’s on, and all other thoughts just fade to black.

There are so many strings trailing through this book. So many ideas, so many characters, so much heavy. There are so many stories that make up the couple Archie and Jagger and I loved them all. But, this story is all about the ending. From the moment Archie puts her hand on Jaggers neck to the final word I didn’t move, didn’t blink, I’m not even sure I was breathing.

This line:

“‘He died before he taught me how to love….Everyone loves him so much’ he pushed out. ‘And I have no fucking clue who he is.’”

“Oh, baby,...He’s you.”

Holy hell, I mean come on. I died right there.

Then he goes to see Tack. Dear God Tack, the ultimate biker, the ultimate brother. He sits on his mountain patio with Jagger and what he proceeds to tell him...to give him...will have tears streaming down your face and your heart in your throat.

And finally, Keeley. I was waiting for the talk between Jagger and Keeley. I knew it would be gut wrenching and heartfelt. Instead, it was a folded piece of yellow paper. Some hearts drawn by a little boy. And a recipe for pancakes. It.Was.Perfect. Jagger had become the man, the protector. The man Graham Black, Hound, and the brothers of Chaos knew he would be.

“My dad is dead, I was raised by my mom, so yeah. A woman raises you, you got no choice but to learn to treat women right, unless you’re a moron or born a dickhead.”

Jagger was three when his dad died. He doesn’t remember him except through the legacy he left behind. Archie gives him back everything he didn’t know he was missing. She brings out everything that is holding him back. She is perfect for him and they are perfect together. She gives him peace.

“But to this day, he would swear it happened. Swear that he heard You’re a good kid, Jag, in a voice that was totally familiar. At the same time it was not.”

This book is everything you will be expecting and more.

4 'That is everything' Stars!

The Chaos series from Kristen Ashley is one of those that I always go back to. These books and characters are very well loved by yours truly. Like seriously well loved. This crew of amazing characters and their unforgettable stories are so special to many and I was sure KA would not fail us with what is now considered the conclusion of the series. Jagger and Archie's love story, called Wild Wind, was the perfect way to wrap it all up.

A love story with a very unusual and heartbreaking start, happening in a span of various years, until these two finally find the perfect timing. I just loved this couple together (a great addition to all the other Chaos pairs) and reading their journey to a happy ending. It was beautiful to be back with this beloved crew and reconnect with everyone. I will never forget any of them. Chaos forever!

So, this one would have been 5 stars if it were not for that craptastic Epilogue. Just why???
So it's a solid 4.5 ****s

But the rest of this book was awesome. I haven't been keen on Ms. ASHLEY 'S later works. Mainly because they were just not my cup of tea 🍵 like her earlier works. But I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Very much a lot of story packed in this Novella and I was enthralled with Jagger and Archie from the prologue and beyond. Sweet, sexy, poignant, mysterious, heartbreaking, and hilarious reveals here. Bought this one over a year ago and finally read it. ☺

I would recommend this read.

I'm so bummed. The first chapter promised a hell of a story, what with all that backstory between the protagonists and all...But then the romance totally fizzled out for me, big time. It all became teenage drama, asshol-ish siblings and annoying friends... Best thing was Jagger and his place in the Club, his memories of his dad. And damn if I didn't tear up in the end because of that. But the romance? Meh...

This is such a hard one to rate and review because I'm really stuck on the fence. I waited...I meditated...I slept and still this morning, I dead stuck on the proverbial fence.

One side of the fence is that I gobbled this book up and loved the story of Jagger and Archie....

But...I just couldn't get past the "rad, groovy, caj, and the other slang which was repeatedly used. Ohhhh, and I cringed (honestly) when Jagger would be calling little kids "brother"

So that's the two sides of the fence that I'm stuck on!

ALL THE FEELS

Normally with a novella you don't get so deep that it evokes tears let alone a crying jag but this is Kristen Ashley so that all get thrown out the window because her novellas are the length of some novels (259 pages) and man did she set me on a crying jag. This book has ALL THE FEELS!

We start off with an unexpected meeting at a cemetery, emotions are high for both Jagger and Archie but there is something that is caught in the look they share that he just can't shake. Over the next several years they run into one another but even though the pull is still there the timing is never right. Until one day he sees her chasing someone down the street so Jagger steps in and that is the beginning of it all.

You can feel every single emotion with Jagger, I think he is the most sensitive biker in Chaos but you wouldn't know it until you really get to know him and honestly I would say that he still hides it pretty well. I love the brotherhood of the club and the way each of them look out for one another.

Archie is a breath of fresh air, I wish there were more people like her out here in the real world trying to make things better for those in their neighborhood instead of always looking out for themselves. She has great friends and would definitely fit in with the ROCK CHICKS.

Archie and Jagger are great together, I love not only the way they interact with one another, in true KA fashion, but you can feel their chemistry in everything they do.

If you are a fan of MC Romances or Kristen Ashley Books this is a must read for you. If you haven't read any of the Chaos Series yet, no worries because this story is written for newbies as well as lovers of the series alike thanks to KA and 1,001 Dark Nights. I would suggest you have a box of tissues as well as a tall glass of ice water nearby because you will need both of them.

Happy Reading!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I felt your love all the way across a cemetery and you didn’t even know my name.”

What You’ll Find:
✔️MC Romance
✔️Second Chance
✔️Sizzling Steam
✔️Novella
✔️Dual POV

Wild Wind is another great addition to the Chaos MC series. Though this can be read as a standalone, the backstory is a powerful one that will really bring the emotion alive in this one if you’ve read the Chaos series.

When Jagger locked eyes with Archie across the graveyard during her mother’s funeral, he knew she was the one. But time passed by and they never did make it work. When Jagger sees her chasing a kid down the street years later, he wades in. She doesn’t want anything to do with him. But Jagger decides he’s going all in anyways.

In typical KA fashion, Jagger isn’t wasting time. Especially since so much of it has been wasted already. And jump right into they do. Jagger is pure alpha biker. But sweet. Archie is such a fierce free spirit. So strong. Both Jagger and Archie have grief from the past in common. And you think you know exactly where this story is going with it... Jagger healing Archie. But it ends up being more about Archie healing Jagger. And that will leave you feeling so much emotion.

The emotion I expected. I have read the entire Chaos series and know the backstory, and knew where it could go. But it went in a direction I was not expecting that brought tears to my eyes in the end. It was heartbreaking and beautiful. There’s also an incredible amount of sizzling steam I enjoyed. They certainly had chemistry from the get go!

There was something about the sentence structure that was familiar yet not. It took me a minute to get into this story because of it. There were also some terms used I wasn’t crazy about either. But it wasn’t overly distracting. And the author doesn’t make it hard to make you feel like you are there with them, pulling you in, with the descriptions she provides.

There was a great diversity of characters. And with so many cameos from the Chaos crew, it truly made this story. I loved catching up with Joker and Tack especially. Getting more from Dutch and Georgie, as well as Hound and Keely. There is a lot packed into this novella and everything seems to move at a quick pace. But it’s clear this couple was destined. And there’s no messing with KA couple fate.

I received an eARC for my honest review.

REREAD 04/27/2024: My thoughts are the exact same. I felt the emotion in this book, especially near the end was ALOT after having binged the series. Gosh that grief gets me. It was a slow start for me to get into this one, even with the reread, but overall I really enjoyed Jag's story this time too!

Well that didn’t feel like a novella at all. I love that about Kristen Ashley! Even her novella don’t ever feel lacking.

Simply put, Wild Wind is beautiful.

Jagger and Archie’s story sucked me in..I was hooked from the very first chapter and I was adamant to finish it in one sitting..I was not willing to get myself out of my chair. Reality was irrelevant. Jagger and Archie’s story was my new reality..atleast for the time being.

Wild Wind made my heart hurt… it’s so well written. The loss and grief felt so real and I cried my eyes out.

But like with all the books written by Kristen Ashley, Wild Wind is passionate, wild, a little dangerous, heartfelt, emotional and has some amazing secondary characters.

The Chaos series in itself is an AMAZING series and Wild Wind is a wonderfully written addition. If you haven’t started this series, please do. You won’t regret it.

Just so boring!

I feel like KA's writing has gone downhill the last few books. I've been reading her earlier books recently like the Ghosts and Reincarnation series and love them, but these recent Chaos books have really been poop. This book was so boring I almost gave up to read another book. Jagger's drama was really no drama and Archie's issues with her brother really didn't have closure, but just his promise he was going to do better.

Did not finish and I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate for this but…I’m officially taking myself off Kristen Ashley’s fan list.
This book was so cringy.
People just don’t talk like the characters in K.A’s books and thank God for that or we’d all sound like idiots.

This one was really good and touched on a lot of serious subjects without seeming preachy. I really loved how Jagger and Archie met, loved that they had this odd connection both kept alive for years, but I wished it was more from the start. It's easy to see that both of them needed to grow up, to experience life before they could be ready for the reality of them together because once it was on the table that was it.

I really loved Archie and what a free spirit she was. She really looked at life in a great way! I really liked how she ended up putting her store at the center of her community and helped build it to be more and have the space be a safe place for the kids. It was better how Jagger took a look at all of that and got it and saw how showing the kids what Archie built for them, along with Chaos, what brotherhood and family is, not always blood, but those you choose to let in.

The other really great thing, but also sad, was how both Archie and Jagger talked about loosing a parent. I liked that they didn't balk at talking, but also how by Archie talking about what was so great about her mom it caused Jagger to deal with his own issues about loosing his dad. While things weren't great for a while for him, dealing with things ended up being awesome. He got back things he didn't remember and learned things that he needed to.

This one was a great addition to the Chaos series, but I also feel that as much as it was about Jagger and Archie, it was the continuation of Graham Black, a guy who was never around for the books, but left a lasting impression.

Jagger and Archie’s story.

I really loved Archie and she was perfect for Jagger. Their connection which spanned over 10 years was beautiful.
Jagger found someone he could really be at ease with. Both had lost a parent. But Jagger hadn’t ever known his father as he had passed when he was 3.

I wanted this story to be totally about them, their healing and although we see Jagger slowly heal, it missed the mark again for me.
Once again it’s the side stories, the drama. Which was a bit labelled.
The side characters were just too much, it felt forced and I found myself skimming again. It unfortunately took away my interest in the couple.
I wanted Jaggers mother to get to know Archie, as a mother would want to do with her son especially Jagger and the setting for the meal was lovely but no.....more drama from clones out of Rock Chicks.
On a plus there were some feels, especially from Tack and his mum but I’ve had more from the previous series.
But this definitely wasn’t one of KA best. There is something about her older work and I miss that.
It’s all becoming a bit PC now.
All in all I’ve loved the Chaos series especially the first 5

Dear KA, sis it's ok to have your mcs not act like EVERY other one of your previous mcs. I get it, the formula has worked for years but it's ok to switch things up a bit. Don't be shy....

The early hit and miss years tanked this book for me, if they got together so easily why'd they waste all those years? Over some typically dumb reason 🤦🏾‍♀️. Jeeze I'm over it! Also listen I'm 36 years old..... I'm not looking to read romances with my daughters "language" in it. If I wanted to hear the phrases and terminology used by today's young people I'd skim through TikTok or listen to my kids. To make matters worse it always comes across as cringey in KA's books....like that mom who's trying too hard to be cool. Boo it's ok, you're doing too much...relax a bit😣

This is such a gorgeous story! Sweet, sexy, super-functional and beautifully emotional, it’s a fantastic story for much-loved Jagger Black, and a wonderful finish to the Chaos series.

Jagger is the youngest son of Keely, and ‘adopted’ son of Hound (from Wild Like the Wind) and brother of Dutch (from Wild Fire). Jagger was only 3 years old when his father, the heart and soul of the Chaos MC, was murdered. He doesn’t remember his father, but his death, and the grief of his mother and the club as a whole, has impacted his life in a big way. It’s while visiting his father’s grave as a 16 year old that he first lays eyes on a girl across the way, broken and grieving, attending the funeral of her mother.

Jagger makes contact, writing the girl a note which is everything to her, and their lives continue to cross over the years, but they never get the chance to explore the connection to each other that they both feel. It’s not until around then years later that Jagger sees the same girl in trouble, and he wades in to help, sparking a chemistry-fuelled interaction which leads Jagger to the conclusion that now is the time to finally make his move.

He was hers. And he had been since she was fourteen. And she was his.

Archie is all kinds of awesome. A little bit punk, a little bit boho, all unique and all in on life, she is wild, confident, and completely open, and I kind of have a girl-crush on her. She doesn’t hold back with Jagger, letting him know all that he meant to her and all that she’s felt in the intervening years, and also letting him know that she is instantly all-in, and it’s on.

“If you believe in God or fate or destiny or karma or whatever, I was there for you the day you needed me the most. And I may have fucked up along the way, but I’m standing right here telling you, unless shit goes south in a way neither of us can turn that tide, I’ll always be there for you.”

Fun, intense, honest and super passionate, Jagger and Archie are all about each other as they start a life together. It’s beautiful to watch, and there’s a great cast of friends and family that are a part of their journey. Archie has some family drama, and Jagger is there to have her back, there’s also a storyline for the kids that Archie cares for, particularly an 11 year old boy who is struggling with life, and Jagger wades in to help him too. It’s your typical KA romance, and I was loving the ride.

“What you said about me being your person … I think you’re my person too.”

But then there this added emotional storyline for Jagger. He has grown up in the shadow of his father without a single memory of the man. That has left its mark, and now that he’s found the girl that is his future, it’s messing with him and though he’s fully committed, he is holding a part of himself back from her. Watching Jag understand and deal with his grief for a man he never knew is heartbreaking. I ached for him, and I actually shed a couple of tears as he works his way through it all. The whole storyline is gorgeous as Archie and Jagger’s family (both through blood and through brotherhood) are there for him, and watching him find his way forward through that to claim his happy is just beautiful.

“He died before he taught me how to love ... Everyone loves him so much” he pushed out. “And I have no fucking clue who he is.”
… “Oh, baby ... He’s you.”

I loved being back in this world and catching up with characters that I love so much (Joker and Carissa – squee!). The Chaos family is fantastic to see when they are there supporting each other, and I loved that Jagger unquestionably has that.

I believe this is the end of the Chaos series, and even after the official ending with Rush’s book, getting the stories of the two Black boys has been the icing on the cake. Jagger and Archie’s book is everything that I love about KA’s books – a functional, sexy and honest romance, with so much heart and emotion. I loved this one!

4.5 stars!

I was super excited for this book to be released, as I couldn’t wait for Jagger’s story. However, this book was just okay for me.

The opening of this book really intrigued me. I loved the backstory of how they met and kept running into each other over the years. Yet when they finally really get to know each other it’s pretty much instalove. Which I understand this is a shorter book, but I’m not a big fan.

I loved the parts of the book that dealt with Jag’s feelings and struggles about being Black’s son while he didn’t have much time with him. This book focused a lot more on Archie’s family, and new characters, where I feel it would have made more sense with Keely, Hound and Dutch.

This book was also missing the big KA struggle that she’s famous for and a big part of why I adore her stories.

My last gripe is her word choices. These characters are in their 20s and saying “bruh”, “da bomb” “jizz” and others that over time had me wanting to skim conversations and sex scenes.

I enjoyed the epilogue and the cameo from other Chaos characters.

5 SMOOCHES!

I’m a huge Kristen Ashley fan, and her Chaos series is among my all-time top favorite series. It’s one of the series that I reread often. I’m going to take any chance that I can to slip back into that world, especially when new material is offered up. For us diehard KA fans, Wild Wind, a 1001 Dark Nights novella, is a chance to head back to the compound and commune with those bikers and their women. For a reader new to Kristen Ashley’s Chaos world, this is a chance to dip your toe in that water and get a feel for this series and these characters. It’s a chance to test the waters of this before diving in to read the whole series. Something, by the way, that I wholeheartedly recommend to every romance reader.

Wild Wind is the story of Jagger Black and Archie. Jagger is the son of an original member of the Chaos MC. His father was lauded the moral compass of the club, he was revered by all the members, and his murder hit both his family and the club hard. Jagger gets his first glimpse of Archie as teen while visiting his father’s grave. He makes eye contact and connects with a beautiful teenage girl who is at her mother’s funeral. So begins the slow-burn love story of A, the girl across the way, and J, the boy across the way.

Over the next decade, their paths cross on occasion. They’re young and they don’t quite grasp what it is that they’re feeling except to recognize that whatever it is, it’s powerful. When they finally mature enough to act, it’s at a time when Jagger needs to decide if he’s all in or out, because Archie is ready to either move on to exploring what’s been building between them or move on from it. With chemistry as hot as theirs, a connection between them like nothing he’s ever felt, Jagger is all in. I loved Archie, she was perfect for Jagger, exactly what he needed. I loved her quirky style, I love her spunky spirit, and I really loved how she knew down to her bones that Jagger was her person. She did not waiver, she did not back down, she simply waited for him to catch up. Once Jagger accepted what was happening, he truly was all in. He recognized that Archie was his person, and he got straight to work getting them on the same page and caught up.

For me, Wild Wind by Kristen Ashley was a chance to revisit a favorite series through a fresh story. As these 1,001 Dark Nights novellas do, It temporarily quenched a thirst—while simultaneously leaving me craving more. If you want to try out Ashley’s Chaos MC series before committing to it, this novella is a great place to start. If like me, you just want to take a trip back to the compound with some new material, here is your chance. But either way, know that you’re in for a captivating, page-turning, sexy love story full of all the alpha male awesomeness that is KA. Five smooches from me for Wild Wind by Kristen Ashley!

*ARC EXCHANGED IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

Wild Wind was my first read from Kristen Ashley, so I didn’t know what to expect but this book definitely delivered and I really enjoyed it.

Jagger and Archer’s relationship was such a heartwarming one, as they were both dealing with so many issues and they really found an escape with each other.
I loved seeing Jagger’s character development, and him coming to terms with his father’s death and dealing with it.

I absolutely loved Archie as she is my favourite type of heroine, I loved seeing how she healed and grew as a character during the book after all she had been through. She is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read about.

I really believe Kristen delivered with this book as Archie and Jagger were such a great couple to read about!

I had a perfect Lazy Sunday reading this one, and as expected, I loved it!

Jagger ... the boy across the way and A... the girl across the way ( I’m not going to say what name is as not knowing until KA wants you to added to the enjoyment and mystery)

So many great lines highlighted, so many heartfelt, tender, emotional and oh wow, steamy moments. Jaggers emotions and his deep feelings hit me hard at times. Losing a parent so young before you have any memories before you get to know them is hard, so I had complete Empathy with Jagger.

And I adore chapter 6 so much, so I re-read it a few times. The heart knows what the heart wants! And those essential chapters, which involve Tack and Keeley, had me reaching for the tissue!

I loved the array of secondary characters that made me smile and added to the story. Adore all the snippets that involve the other Chaos Brothers, which has now left knowing that a reread from the beginning of this series will happen very soon.

Wild Wind was a beautiful love story about healing and finding your peace. When I finished this one, I did have to sit and take a moment to come down from another KA emotional and enjoyable roller coaster.

Just perfect!
