FREEBIES are often good for MORE than one day, I have gathered all my FREEBIES on a special shelf: Kindle-freebies (currently over 400 books) https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
As a lot of you know the province I live in ( British Columbia) is under severe threat by fire. There are several towns that have been evacuated and my father is one that has been evacuated as well. He's currently traveling our way to stay with us... this is devastating and terrifying... please keep us all in your prayers, I have never seen or heard of over 20,000 people having to leave their homes; and the fires keep spreading and numbers keep rising..
Now about the book: obviously it was hard for me to be totally connected at this time, but there were aspects to this first book that I enjoyed. There are seven siblings in this Irish family and most live with their Pops and work in the family run bar! In this first book we get introduced to the oldest daughter and she ends up falling for her teacher!!!
What I loved was the interaction with the siblings; what I didn't care for was the relationship that developed between the heroine and hero happened too fast and I wasn't feeling it... because of that the sex to me fell short too.
I liked the story enough though that I'm continuing on to the next book!!! I think this series will get better as it continues!
That was my very short review from June 17th, 2015.
So here is a little more about this book.
Very well written and flowed smooth and easy. Very hot and steamy. Very erotic. Great characters and I loved the MC's. The other characters, especially the female mc's, were delightful and made me want to read more about them. Convinced me that Mari Carr was an author I needed to read more of.
I loved it so much I bought the bundle of this series. While I haven't finished the bundle I have read bk#2 in it.
I definitely recommend this series and this author to anyone who loves a well written adult story. By 'adult' I mean ADULT!
I read Come Monday a few days ago and almost wasn't going to review it because I don't keep most of my erotic short story reviews on this account, but then I changed my mind. Come Monday seems to fit into a nice little niche for starter/intro BDSM, so I'd think it could work for people who are new to the genre.
This story happened to be one of the many freebie shorts that I'd picked up along the way. One night before bed I happened to be looking for a pre-sleep quickie, so I chose this.
I loved the first half. It's no secret that I have a thing for stories about professors (and the classic fantasy of getting down on a teacher's desk). After reading several books recently in which the hero was either extra cocky or super controlling, I was immediately sucked in by the 'normal' professor checking out his attractive student.
But then...he switched into 'dom' mode and some of the magic was lost for me. I love bedroom doms, but I also have to admit with having my own personal struggle when it comes to men who want to dictate choices outside of the bedroom. For me, I was hoping that the story would be more about the handsome and distinguished professor who cut loose behind closed doors...and while I did get that, there was that added element of a man who wanted to be more of a dom in real life as well. Again, not the book's problem (let me disclaimer that he wasn't ultra controlling), this falls only on me.
If I had to evaluate based on characters, story, and steam content, this was a nice little freebie gem. With shorter books, you won't get a ton of plot and world building, but we weren't dropped immediately into the sex either, so I felt like we got enough information about the characters and their world. There was a great family dynamic with all of the brothers and sisters. Included was a romance and a HEA for those who need more than 'just sex' in their erotica.
I'd recommend Come Monday for people who are looking to wade into the shallow end of the BDSM genre. Content involved spanking and being tied up, some delayed/withholding of orgasms, and some anal & toy play - nothing too "out there."
Even though Will was a dom, he showed that in most trusting relationships, the subs ultimately hold more power than they're given credit for.
"Don't you see? Don't you get it, Keira? You have all the power. Dammit, I'd give you anything you want. Anything. All you have to do is ask."
1.5 It's really hard to write a very good story in not too many pages. This author didn't manage it, unfortunately. The story was rushed, the characters didn't have any chemistry, and the entire plot seemed pretty boring to me.
Keira is the oldest in a large family and she's become the surrogate mother since her mother passed away 9 years ago. She gave up her life and basically became a mother of 6 kids. That is sad, just sad.
I liked Keira and understand her from a 1st child's point of view. Fortunately, my mother is still happily living. Keira finally started to live her life again and then flips out when she thinks she's letting her family down. O_O This woman needs to be slapped upside the head.
Fortunately, Will - Professor Wallace has other ideas. Okay, Will is HOT. I love his Dommie ways. I loved how he took control and dressed her. I like a man who can dress his woman in the most flattering way. It's something which turns me on. This story was sweet and smexy. I'm glad I read it. I'm not exactly hooked on the series, but I kind of wonder about Tris and what's going on with him.
I recommend this story to the Sugarkink crowd - this is sweet and tasty.
First up in this series of novellas is Keira and Will. She is the oldest Collins sibling and has been helping to raise her younger brothers and sisters since their mother's death years ago. Will is her college professor and is mutually attracted to her, but she is his student and he keeps himself in check until the semester ends. Then all bets are off and the two of them act on their desires. WOW! He's into the BDSM lifestyle, he eases her into it, okay that's an understatement, more like hurls her into it! However Keira embraces it, and the two of them get their kink on pretty fast. Very HOT!
I enjoyed the whole family aspect, how they work together and have each other's backs. I'm looking forward to seeing if the BDSM theme plays throughout all the books, or if the author designs their sexual desires around their personalities. Should be interesting.
The purpose is erotic sex with a lot of withholding of pleasure. The plot was average, could have been better.
STORY BRIEF: Keira’s mother died when she was in high school. She took over the mothering duties for her six younger siblings. She also works in the family business - a pub and restaurant. Nine years later she begins doing something for herself – attending college part time. Her current professor is Will. When the course is over, he starts dating Keira. He spanks her on their first date because she opened her own car door. Each time they are together he does things that make her uncomfortable or cause pain. The result increases her delayed sexual pleasure.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: There is one scene where he stimulates her for probably over an hour while he feeds her dinner. He tells her that if she does not come he will reward her with normal sex later, which she desperately wants. That scene of her trying not to come was painful for me to read. For some reason this was more bothersome to me than most other bondage/pain stories. There are some long sex scenes. There is rear door activity and sex toys. Most of the scenes are he doing things to her and watching her discomfort. That didn’t work well for me.
CAUTION SPOILER ABOUT THE REASON FOR A BREAKUP: Plot wise, we have a breakup, which is typical for romance stories. I didn’t care for the reason. All of a sudden she feels that she’s spending too much time with her new lover instead of being available 100% of the time for her family. She is worried about her father’s blood pressure. She also learns that her youngest sibling Sean (18 years old) had a fight at school. She feels she should have been around more for him. But then the author never tells us what the fight was about. It was sort of an empty conflict. Mari lies to Will and says his type of sex is not for her when the truth is she feels guilty about her family needing her. It was not a satisfying conflict or resolution – even though she does end up with Will in the end.

It's a fairly, fluffy erotic read. Enjoyable without making you uncomfortable. Fun, low angst storyline about a Dominant professor falling for his student.
This was one those stories that i found ok, but it didn't really grab me for some reason. It may be that it was just too sort for my liking, or that fact i didn't like the use of the word cunt to describe her pussy, or just the fact the woman was permanently gushing down her legs just at the sight of him...No sorry, all these factors just didn't do it for me. Let alone the fact that i wanted to slap the main female character...keira. I know her mother died when she was 18, but why the hell did she feel she had to take her play to bring up her 7 siblings. No way. at some point you would have thought she would have told them to pull their own weight, that she had a life. Even falling for Will her old school professor doesn't wake her up to the fact that she doesn't have a life!, and he doesn't say anything, yet he takes on the role of her Dom. she's very submissive to him, and he leads her into this life style, yet he doesn't point out to her that she has an obligation to take care of herself!
I enjoyed the book and will read the rest in the series, i just wanted more and needed to ignore some unpleasant images that the descriptions created for me.
A thoroughly enjoyable story with some well written and erotic scenes of an awakening and developing Dom/sub relationship between Will and Keira. This is Mari Carr's first in her Wild Irish series of seven books, and the first of her stories I've read. It won't be the last. This story focuses on the eldest daughter Keira who is the surrogate mother figure to her now grown up siblings. A life of always needing to be seen to be in control and of putting her own needs second to her families needs, leaves Keira without a long term or stable relationship. Professor William Wallace her tutor and a Dominant male decides to pursue and see how far Keira will go in the role of his need for a submissive. What happens and does it work? Read for yourself...however in my view Mari Carr has produced a well edited story she can be proud of. I look forward to reading the others in the series and am happy to award this four stars.
Keira, our heroine is 27 and the oldest of seven siblings. Since her mother passed nine years ago she took over the mother role and has done everything for her siblings, now she is starting to settle slowly with going back to school. Her english professor has been giving her C's and she doesn't understand why since she believes her work is worth A's.. her english professor is hot, young, and a dom. So, he offers to re-grade her papers after giving her some pointers, then one day shows up at her family's restaurant and asks her out.. Showing of his dom side which totally turns our little submissive Keira on they turn into a short little affair however the family is supposidly missing her so she dumps him to continue playing momma bear. Dom/Professor Will is not having any of it..
On one hand this story was very rushed, speeding through each encounter between Keira and Will. But on the other, it lacked more emotionally observant descriptions of seven siblings taking care of the restaurant.
Mostly, I liked Will and Keira's chemistry, but sometimes I found his bossiness unappealing. I agree with other reviewers that his demands should stay in the bedroom. It just seemed a bit creepy and reminded me of the dynamics in a domestic violence relationship. But, this is a love story, so I'll give a little. :)
Overall, I thought this book was just okay. Would I recommend it? Not especially. Would I read it again? No. Heat factor? Spicy
I really enjoyed the writing style that Mary Carr offers. This is a good read for people who likes D/S and for new readers to D/S. This is a short novella that takes you into a heated romance relationship and a woman who is trying to learn to live again after her mothers passing and taking care of her siblings. You get quite a bit emotions along some smoking hot sex in a quick no brainier read how much better can you get? You cant in my books.
I enjoyed this installment and will be reading the rest of the series.
Loved it!! A late twenties college student has the hots for her creative writing professor...turns out, he has the hots for her too. After the semester they decide to go out together.. Turns out he's a dominant! (In and out of the bedroom). There is some family drama and we are introduced to all of her siblings. (Which turns out, they each have their own book). This is a quick easy read with some SMOKIN' HOT sex in it. I will be reading the others in this series.
This was a cute little story with some kink to it - Prof William Wallace likes to take charge inside (and outside) the bedroom. I wasn't enamored with the heroine, I felt she lacked a certain maturity needed for this kind of story... but overall I liked it and the premise of a story for the rest of the siblings for each day of the week is a cute one :)
HOT Damn!!! I love Mari Carr Books!! This has to be my fave so far, this series is going to be awesome! Just this one book had me laughing and it was so sweet!!! I love all the family.. Awesome awesome book!!
I really liked the characters. However the story seemed to be lacking for me. Hopefully, the rest of the series is better. I really like Keira's family. Overall, a meh read.
This fast paced novella explored light BDSM. Keira is used to taking care of her large broad. Since her mother died, she's picked up the mantle of making sure her six siblings are okay as she helps run the family bar. After years of taking care of everyone else she goes for her dream of attending college at 27. The last thing she expected to find there was an attractive teacher who makes her think naughty and new to her thoughts. Watching the two come together is a sexy journey through emotions , duties, and the hang it's we all have this novella is a satisfying quick read.
Keira is a 27 year old who has gone back to college after talking care of her family for the past six years. Imagine her consternation when her creative writing professor is so hot she can't keep her mind on the class. "He made her think completely inappropriate thoughts and she’d be damned if she became a cliché—the college coed who falls in love with her professor."
Will, 35 year old Professor Wallace, has tried "to understand the grip this young woman had on him. He’d never been attracted to a student before, yet from the first moment she’d stepped foot in his class, Keira Collins had shaken [him]."
With only two weeks left, Will invites Kiera to his office to go over her C grade which he is sure she is not happy about. They agree to meet in the mornings to help her bring up her grades.
As soon as the semester is over, Will visits Kiera at her family's pub and restaurant and ends up asking her out to dinner. From there, it is full speed ahead.
Delves a bit into the BDSM lifestyle but nothing over the top, mostly dominance and a little bondage.
3.75-4.0 RATING- I recently read another book by this author and enjoyed it so decided to check out what else she had and found this series. (It helped that this book was free too!) Overall, it was a good, guilty pleasure read. I consider the story line BDSM-lite. Because of the shorter length this author seems to favor, there wasn't a ton of room for development but I thought it rated high for readability. Definitely plan on reading more from this series and author!
I am so freakin' mad at myself for not starting this series sooner. I did not put Come Monday down once I started reading it. I can't wait to start the rest of the series.
I wasn't that impressed with this book. It started out kind of intriging, but got boring quick.
I am willing to give the background characters a shot at redemption in the next book, Ruby Tuesday, see if they are most entertaining than Keira and Will.
The whole reason I got this book was the whole hot for teacher thing. It was OK. The plot was quick, with mild BDSM. It just left me feeling unenthusiastic about it. And it took me forever to finish mainly because I was kind of over it.
This one hit all of my buttons in the right way ;) I liked Keira and Will a lot. Watching her realize she needed to live for her was awesome. Her family was interesting and I'm sure I will read their stories.
