I swear, last M/M of the year. lol This read was very interesting. I think I'll remember these characters for a while! They are rather unique. Did I LURVE THEM TO BITS? Not quite. But I found them very intriguing and rather well developed.
➦Ah, the infamous sex club scene. A guy comes in with his friend for a newbie night and catches an eye of the owner of the club, who's this powerful, rich and super sexy dude. He's definitely looking for someone to dominate but there's absolutely no whipping or anything like that in this book. It dealt more with an obsession to.. "own," for the lack of better word.
➦I know a lot of people were not pleased with the ending but I didn't mind it one bit. It facinated me in a creepy way. I remember the last thing I thought was "You, sneaky little shithead!" :D Anyways, if you are looking for an intriguing M/M read that doesn't follow the usual formula and you enjoy a bit of grit and dark themes, then check this one out!

➦I was waiting for some military action and boy did I get it in this book. It is amazingly written and I devoured it. These two army guys have been friends forever and have been getting deployed together for a long time. One has always been in love with the other, who doesn't believe in relationships. That's sort of a very rough gist of it but it's much much more!
➦This book kind of reminded me of HIM by Bowen and Erickson, in a way that it evoked similar emotions and how much I loved it. And everyone here knows that HIM is my favoritestest MM of all times. To there, if that doesn't entice you to read this, I don't know what will. :)

This series keeps getting better! There's not much military action going on here but the book is about a military single dad who has lost his husband and is having hard time moving on. Until a younger guy comes around for the summer to help him out with the kids. Ugh, it was cute and hot and a bit heartbreaking, if I'm being honest.

This book reminded me about why I love this genre so much. I also totally expect for someone to throw a brick at me for saying that this was my first book by Eli Easton. [image]
➦Well, I really lurved this one. I had my eye on it ever since it became available on Netgalley but I've waited it out on Audible. This book was so sweet and hot and also a bit angsty towards the end. It also made me cry, I was legit driving to the grocery store and sobbing. Nothing to see, people, keep moving. Just listening to a story of two guys finally finding their HEA and crying happy tears. [image]
➦I'm not gonna go into details about the book. I'll just paint this picture for you. Imagine there were two best friends who did something stupid and injured their hands. Now, imagine them being in recovery in the same house. Can't use hands. You see where I'm going with this? [image]
➦But it was so much more than that. It had flashbacks to their past and we got to see glimpses of them as best friends throughout the years. So. stinkin. cute. I'm a total happy camper and this is also my book #250 of the year, apparently. So there. I'll try to find the cutest seal of approval. [image]

This will be a quick review of the trilogy as a whole.
➦My overall impression was positive. But I was surprised by a couple of things. I've expected this fantasy to have, well, more fantasy? [image]
➦This felt a bit like... like... Game of Thrones pumped full of testosterone and minus the dragons. Or magic. Ok, forget it, it wasn't like GoT. But there was a battle for the throne (or two) and it felt like most characters were those of the male variety. [image]
➦D'uh, exactly. It's an M/M novel. But still? Anyways. A captive prince sold to slavery to another prince. Sounds fun! A lot of action, twists and betrayals in this trilogy to keep a reader interested until the end, but no magic. It's a fantasy world with lots of fighting but a traditional kind, with swords and such. Yeah, not even a little bit of magic. It's ok, I got over it. It was still good. [image]
➦Another surprise was how slow burn this was. Also, not a bad thing. But if you're expecting pokepoke you might not get it for a while. May be some strokestroke to keep you interested. lol I know, so eloquently put. [image]
➦Ok, so, to sum it up: if you're looking for M/M fantasy with a lot of war strategizing, action and twists then this is for you! And in the midst of it all is a slow burn romance between two people who are very unlikely to ever trust each other or be friends. But no magic. [image]

➦I'll be here and I'll be waiting. There better be more soon. Or else. lol [image]
➦But all jokes aside, I really am enjoying this series and I'm hoping that all these novelettes will be combined into a complete set which will amount to a full good size fantasy romance. There's a lot of good stuff going on here - besides a romantic relationship that's loaded with sexual tension there's also an interesting plot and good amount of world building. But I could go for more. Well, you get it. [image] [image]

➦Can you maybe, I don't know, add another... say... 500 pages to this goodie so I can continue salivating over these hot elven creatures? Speaking of elves. [image]
➦This is what I imagine these two like, their hair might be backwards but what the f ever. Even though it's been years since I've played Lineage or any kind of mmorpg, I am still a huge fan of anything fantasy, so I'm always on board to read about mystical creatures that are masters of warfare. I do love me some good pew pew too. [image]
➦I am getting carried away here. All I want to say is that I'm very impressed with the writing and amazed at what this author was able to achieve in just so few pages. It left me wanting more and I'm now moving on to reading book #2

➦I have to say that I normally try to avoid any books that have Russian characters in it. Usually I just end up rolling my eyes so hard at the use of Russian words, etc. Once I've listened to a guy in an audiobook call his girl a little bear instead of a little mouse for hours... [image]
➦And, as much as I've been trying to imagine that cute one in the gif above, somehow my brain kept sending me images of this instead: [image]
➦Anywhooooo. This book has an adorable Russian guy who makes syrniki (russian pancake thingies) and talks about Russian superstitions, and, well, he sort of reminded me of myself, or of my own upbringing, to be exact. And, naturally, because I really really really LOVE myself, I loved his character too. [image]
➦Speaking of pancakes, I have no idea how he managed to make them so fast, dude has skills. Me making pancakes: [image]
➦Me after eating pancakes: [image]
➦And that's why I don't eat pancakes. lol
➦But I digress. So, this guy, Maxim is his name, comes to the US to chase his dreams and ends up at a bar where he gets robbed. What do you do when you have no money and nowhere to go? You rely on the kindness of strangers. Long story short, a good looking gentleman offers Maxim a roof over his head for a couple of days.
➦There's an immediate attraction between Maxim and Derek. There's only one problem, though. Derek is straight. Or so he thinks and so he wishes to be in public.
➦If you like roommate tropes with likable characters then do give this one a shot. I'm a sucker for GFY and this book is hot! It's a bit angsty towards the end but also completely stinkin'-I-bawled-my-eyes-out-cuz-I-was-so-happy cute during the epilogue. [image]
