It was impressive how the author managed to really put me in the main character’s head, as icky as it was. It was uncomfortable and I can totally see how it can be used as strong social commentary on how we approach female sexual predators, the judgement of their actions and how that impacts their punishment (or lack there-of). Celeste was truly a fascinating, horrible character. If it weren’t for the (in my opinion) overly dramatic climax, excuse the pun, this would have been a 5 star read, easy....more

I love the art and that cover is *chef's kiss*. The general idea of the plot is pretty cool too. I'm just not convinced it fully kept up? There were so many threads everywhere, and it was hard to keep track of everything. There were random little bits of plot that seemed to come out of nowhere and then disappear just as fast, never to be mentioned again. At some point I gave up on understanding exactly what was happening. There was just a bit too much in too short a time. I probably had a better idea of what was happening in the characters' personal lives than in the reporting. Not quite the point here.
Unlike most of the reviewers I've seen review this, I have no attachment to morals in storytelling. Madison can do whatever she wants to get the scoop, I don't care. It is kinda fun watching someone sink so low. She used people to get ahead and has 0 sense of loyalty, and I love that for her. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.

i read this as an audiobook even though i shelved the hardcover by accident and don't want to lose my updates. the narrator did a great job, his different voices and accents for the characters made it so much easier to figure out who was talking, cause there were a lot of people in this book....more

(hide spoiler)] other than that though, i really liked it and i will definitely be reading the next book...more

i decided to reread this after watching the first 12 and a half minutes of the show (thanks, random coworker who left their profile signed in). it’s been a hot minute since my first read but the show seemed good and i figured why not? gotta entertain myself on a plane for an hour or two, might as well pull this back off my shelf. it took me almost three weeks to finish but that’s because i brought this to work after said plane ride to read during breaks and recently i have had none of those breaks.
the characters are really well-written and i love the interview style the author chose. it’s a fun story too, the whole plot and concept is great. there are some books that don’t hold up with rereading but this is not one of them.
