And apparently I like romcoms now. Who knew?...more

The premise—Calla returning to her birthplace If Alaskan bush pilot books were a trope, I think I'd have a new fave. My god Jonah is one dreamy yeti. The premise—Calla returning to her birthplace to reconnect with her dying father who'd abandoned her—is gut-wrenching. And it doesn't help that the hot yeti starts out as a total asshole. I didn't understand how Calla could be held responsible for anything, and for a little while I wondered if I'd be able to connect with such a callous hero. I was certain I'd never warm up to Calla's father, but a few chapters in and I could sympathize with both of them. The Simple Wild is swoony and angsty with a few LOL moments. I'm officially addicted to Tucker's writing and can't wait to read more by her. ...more
Wow. I put this off for so long because of the price. I don't mind spending big bucks on books if I trust the author(s), but I'd n5.5 stars at least.
Wow. I put this off for so long because of the price. I don't mind spending big bucks on books if I trust the author(s), but I'd never read Christina Lauren before. I was lucky enough to snag this one on Libby, but if I'd paid full price, I wouldn't regret a single cent. Matter of fact, I'm sure I'll buy the paperback just to have it on my shelf.
I loved every second of it and found it nearly impossible to put down. The "now and then" chapters are plotted and paced to perfection. The writing is beautiful. I need more, but I'm not into hardcore alphas or romcoms--though I may have to make an acception. If anyone reading this is familiar with their backlist, please give me some guidance!

By the end, I was on board with the “winner,” though my heart still broke for the “loser.” I wanted him to get his happily ever after, but I struggled to envision him with someone new.
That didn’t last long because Jolene is pure perfection—and perfect for him. And as one of my all-time favorite heroines ever, she’s perfect for me too. I have a bit of a girl crush on her, if I’m honest. She’s a far cry from the average girl-next-door heroines I usually read. She's refreshing. She’s deeply flawed but endearing. He is too, actually. And they’re both so well written, I think Grant could have made them axe murdering, puppy smuggling, bank robbers and I would have found a way to forgive them.
Beyond the Truth is both clever and daring, and the sex scenes are off the charts hottt. It gave me The Unrequited, and to some extent, New Camelot Trilogy feels, and I don't say that lightly.
“You need to leave before it’s too late.” “It already is. I’m here in this room, and I’m inside you.”
Beyond the Masks was fantastic, but Beyond the Truth blew me away.
I love reading the reviews for this book. Especially the ones that begin, “This is my first Emma Scott book, and it won’t be my last…”
You're not aloneI love reading the reviews for this book. Especially the ones that begin, “This is my first Emma Scott book, and it won’t be my last…”
You're not alone. We’ve all said it…right before disappearing into our blankie forts and blowing through her backlist with stockpiles of chocolate. I should warn you though…when you reach the end of said backlist, it will be a dark, lonely day. But don’t fear. There's a support group for that.
I adore every single one of her books, but something about Bring Down the Stars is just more. If you’ve read any of the reviews, you already know about the constant, unconditional friendship at its core. You know about Wes, the altruistic hero “who lives every life but the one he wants.” You’ve probably even read a few colorful words about Connor, who in my opinion, is a product of parental pressure, genuine, but maybe a little misguided. But the more in this story is Autumn, a heroine whose strength, determination, perseverance, intelligence, kindness, humanitarian spirit, and unwavering ability to love mirrors her creator.
Bring Down the Stars is something special. If you're already an Emma Scott fan, I can promise you'll love it. It's exactly what you'd expect, though it will somehow still surprise you. If you're new to her, take a chance. You won't regret it.
And when the book hangover hits (and it will), don't worry. There's a support group for that too....more

This book is pure perfection and I read it every spare second I had, and some I didn't. It's that good. Get over the age thing and go for the ride. The h's insecurities bring her down (age-wise) and the H's life experience elevates him. They meet in the middle and it works, yet there's that underlying "gap" that's always there. But the brilliance of this book is that, at its core, age isn't the issue. Celebrity is. And the question becomes, should two people who are TRULY in love, let something like that get in their way? Yes. When there's an innocent child involved.
And now for my highly spoilery rant. (view spoiler)[What the fucking fuck? I seriously expected an HEA. Grrrr! I don't do non-HEA's! And near the end I was SURE I was going to get one. I actually thought the daughter was going to call Hayes and bring him back and they would all live happily ever after on that islet. 🙄🙄🙄 But...after sleeping on it--for a few hours, as I woke up at 5am and contemplated further--I agree it ended the way it had to. Clearly Hayes had some growing up to do, even if it wasn't all that obvious until the end. And sweet Isabelle, no matter how mature she seemed at times, was a child and decisions needed to be made for her--not by her. Their story couldn't have ended any other way. BUT the book could have! An epilogue 5 years into the future--with Isabelle grown up and some maturity under Hayes' belt--would have been appreciated. I wouldn't have needed an HEA in that instance--just hope. Just a hint of the attraction and love they once shared. Maybe a letter? IDK...something!? Grr argh! (hide spoiler)] Rant over. Thanks for listening....more
