However, I’m a SUCKER for Q.B.’s writing, so I knew I was going to read it no matter what! I definitely think the author didn’t really know where she was going 100% with this book when she wrote the first book, because there were some inconsistencies in Chris’ character in the first book that aren’t how he is in this book.
This book definitely exceeded my expectations! From the very beginning, Chris was all about Marissa! He was devoted to her from the very beginning, and wanted a relationship with her no matter what!
I love when there’s no denying that the MCs like each other in books and the couple just actually likes each other. And that was the case for Chris and Marissa. You can feel their attraction to each other and it was so yummy
Chris and Marissa had a, I think, 13 year age gap, but it really didn’t show in my opinion. I feel like Marissa was very mature for a 21 year old and fit in well with Chris.
Now….the third act break up REALLLLLLLY pissed me off because it was wayyyyy longer than it needed to be and took me out of the story tbh. And there’s not one, but pretty much TWO long third act break ups. Those break ups realllllly killed my mood and honestly didn’t fit in with who and how Chris and Marissa were as a couple. Like what happened during that time they were apart? (I’m not talking about with other people bc I know they weren’t with anyone else).
So while the first 55% was 5 stars amazing, everything after 60% lowered it to 4stars. I just think the break ups were so unnecessary, and way too long. Especially the second one because we don’t ever really see them come back from it before we’re getting the epilogue.

Their relationship was so cute and sweet. I literally devoured this book in one night with no breaks because I couldn’t put it down. I knew I’d love it though because Julia Wolf has been on a roll with amazing books that seem to find themselves on my favorites shelf! I loved their relationship so much and how they cared for and loved each other so much! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the heroine is the one reassuring and complimenting the hero (and of course he does the same for her, but it’s usually one sided in most books) all the time. He loved when she complimented him and I thought that was so sweet...more

The H was abhorrent and the ONLY reason this isn’t a one star is because the h at least slept with one other man during the separation. The situation with the fiancée was so disgusting that the H just could not redeem himself, especially after the way he talked to and about the h.
Maybe, MAYBE, I could have forgiven him if the woman he was with wasn’t someone he told the h she never had to worry about. Maybe I could’ve forgiven him if he had just hooked up with her. But no, this man got down on one knee, proposed, and lived with this woman. Not once did he try to track down the h. I could not stand him at all. Just refer to my highlights if you want to see what a gem he was. And the fact that he was going to let the fiancée be a stepmom to the h’s kid! ...more

I wasn’t expecting to love Vickie and Colt, but I did, SO much! However, I hated the third act breakup and the relationship just didn’t flow like it did before once they got back together. It just felt a little stilted, and just didn’t have the same vibe as the beginning. I’m going to choose to ignore the last like 25% of the book in favor of remember the good times from the earlier portion. Colt actually made me laugh and I really enjoyed their relationship. ...more
