Corrupted Union has everything you should want in a great mafia romance. A great anti hero. A sassy heroine. Some suspense and action. A bit forbidden touch. And whole lot of spice.
Keiran is the head of Irish mafia. And he is quiet ruthless and fearsome. But he has a soft side too. That you can see for his family and then for Rowan. The Governor's daughter. That's how he got roped into helping her in exposing her boyfriend's corrupt father..when he just wanted to intimidated her father into helping them taking down the dirty mayor. In the process..he ends up kind of forcing her to marry him. Not that she was exactly opposed to the idea by then. But you have to read to get the whole plot.
I love Rowan! She is so sassy and fierce and sweet. And then her past that has left her heartbroken forever. My heart breaks for her pain. She doesn't stand for injustice. And she can be stubborn and reckless for it. Keiran definitely had a hard time trying to protect her from some evil force. Their chemistry is pure sin. Her boyfriend wasn't actually a big deal because it was more of a convenient and easy decision for her to break up with him when the secrets came out. And then there was Kieran. He was there to put her pieces together at every step. The marriage was a necessary evil to keep her safe but it soon became a reality for them. Kieran is a perfect alpha anti hero who found his match in Rowan....more

What I loved best about this book is the focus on Noemi and Conner's connection. Noemi has kept all her pain and rage behind the silence she selected but Conner recognized the fire in the so called mute and traumatized mafia daughter. He is ruthless and violent and his intensity extends to his obsession and possessiveness for Neomi. It may have been an arranged marriage, it may have been a strategic alliance between Irish and Italian Mafia. But once Conner chose her..all bets were off. He wanted to claim her body and soul and he did..but he also set her free from the heartbreaking and fearful life before marriage. Neomi is more than capable of slaying her own dragons but it's still nice to have a dark knight. It was sinful. It was action packed. And now I want to start the next book ASAP....more
Amid Clouds and Bones by Ella Fields is a breathtaking and treacherous journey through scorching hot enemies to lovers tension, angst of rejected mateAmid Clouds and Bones by Ella Fields is a breathtaking and treacherous journey through scorching hot enemies to lovers tension, angst of rejected mate, heart stopping twists and magical moments in a magical world. Princess Mildred had her heart broken, soul ripped apart by our dark fae prince and then put together at the end by the same antihero. Atakan Ethermore is ruthless, cold hearted, manipulative and vicious but he came out with a such a possessive dominating protective side for Mildred at the end! This romantasy would have you under it's spell in no time. PS There are dragons..
I would suggest you go blind and let the story take away to the fae world. It's a very slow burn. It will take time for things to speed up but I promise the patience will be worth it. Mildred is the half Seelie princess who was forced into an arranged marriage with the Seelie prince Atakan..and they hate each other and tried to hurt each other all the years leading to the actual marriage time. The alliance was needed to beat the Unseelie kingdom. When Mildred moves to Ethermore..things got messy and complex as she couldn't deny that they have a twisted desire. Just when she could see the other side lt Atakan the heartless..she accidentally got transported to the enemy world. Vane the Unseelie King has a whole other story for her. Will Mildred come back to Atakan? At what cost? What other secret he is hiding?
This plot is too complicated to grasp in a summary and I seriously think you should go in blind. There is a slight love triangle kind part but no real love so keep that in mind. Mildred has been humiliated, used, abused, manipulated, betrayed and what not but she has some beautiful bravery and resilience in her. She battled her demons even when she was at worst. Atakan and Mildred's dynamics is so fascinating and way too spicy to handle. The chemistry was never a problem. They were burning for each other. Atakan was simply cruel to her and she didn't know if she can trust him. But our fae prince has miles long secrets. It will make all the sense at the end when all his pawns will line up and he will execute a daredevil plan to win it all He will emerge as the ultimate all powerful winner at this vicious battle. I was definitely shocked at the numerous turns in the story but part three was just mind blowing. The part with Vane the Unseelie King set me heart on a trouble some path like Mildred and I hope it's not the last time I am seeing him. At the end, Mildred and Atakan's mating bond ended up being all consuming. They started as hurt and pain but they found true otherworldly love. The way Atakan protected Mildred through all his darkness was truly heartaching. His anger, his viciousness, his twisted words..all had a purpose but you won't know soon. Mildred is his perfect queen with her soft yet fierce heart. The whole Fae kingdom with the fantastic creatures and nature was mesmerizing.

Each of us has that comfort food or comfort space..& Then They Wed by Riya Iyer was exactly that. Reading a Desi romance set in India was so satisfying because I almost never get to read them in international romance space. I know I have a different connection to Rian and Aditi because I get each of their issues with love and relationship so well. I cannot tell you how many times I was shaking my head and shouting " OMG THAT'S SO REAL". Aditi being a doctor was just extra point. Having said that, this book has an excellent plot and range of emotions those will pull at anyone's heartstrings. It doesn't matter what your ethnicity is or where you live..this story proves love is a universal language. The spice was so well done. Stories with Indian setting often doesn't do justice to the sex part but the author brought all the slow burn and nuclear hot scenes and I am in love with it. An emotionally unavailable hero falling for a sweet and sassy heroine in a setting of family and culture..what more do you need?
-Desi Romance - opposites attract - grumpy sunshine - forced proximity ( house mate to lovers) - enemies to lovers - Chef hero & doctor heroine
The story revolves around master chef and successful restaurant owner Rian Shetty and gynecologist Aditi Krishnan. Aditi comes to Mumbai to live with Rian's grandmother in Rian's apartment because she has secured a prestigious residency here. Rian doesn't like her in his space because they had an altercation years ago. Aditi's family is pushing her to get married and she has to find a match else she will have to get married to a NRI groom leaving her dream career behind. Rian doesn't want to get married ever. But as they cross from enemies to friends to lovers territory..what will Rian do?
Oh my gosh Riya Iyer gave me my first Desi hero crush! His family was dysfunctional one. His grandmother gave him all the love and support and he fought so hard to make a name for himself. He didn't take help of his family money or name. But all the resentment and shame and anger made him closed off. Aditi came like a tornado in his life. She is stubborn and lovely and fierce. She has a big heart. That's why she could see the soft and vulnerable man behind Rian's cold and hard exterior. They had an amazing dynamics. The initial battle of banter was entertaining. The author built their connection slowly but I wasn't bored. I was so invested. To see the jealous possessive protective Rian. To see Aditi making him fall in love slowly but strongly. To see them heal each other. It wasn't easy. Rian had to work through his issues before he could give all of his heart and soul to Aditi. There was heartbreak. There was heartache. There was redemption. There was spice. Oh the spice was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the Indian setting. The last chapter made me laugh and swoon.

Then why did I pick up A Daughter of Fair Verona by Christina Dodd? Two things : The cover and the whole concept of next generation of Romeo and Juliet! And then I fell in love with the author's witty refreshing take on the classic. The hilarious and detailed characters. The accidents and incidents. The sharpness of the humor mixed with a bit of murder mystery. Rosie or Rosaline made me laugh and smile and I absolutely admire her personality. I don't regret picking this book out of my usual way.
So this is set in the city of Verona where Romeo and Juliet are very much alive and thriving behind their tragic love story. With hald a dozen kids! The explanation was pretty awesome and from the first page, I knew this is a gem. Rosie is their eldest and her parents are very much worried about her spinster status at age of 18. They reluctantly agree when Duke Leir Stephano of the house of Creppa ask Rosie's hand. He is much older and notorious and generally disliked and his previous wives all died under mysterious circumstances. But he is found dead in the betrothal part in Cassa Montague and Rosie is a suspect. Then start a series of murder, wild accidents and love filled hilarious incidents....involving Rosie and Prince Escalus Leonardi the younger, the podestà of Verona and Lysander of the house of Marcketti. Complicated? It is.
Rosie is like the binding force of the house. She is fierce and sassy and independent. Her parents adore her and trust her and love her. But her father also taught her fighting skills and her mother gave her all the wisdom. She is intelligent and intuitive and brave. She avoided the foolish matters of love and marriage so far but she is dragged into a scandal now and she is in danger too. She developed a weakness for charming Lysander but the Prince is a complex factor here! Oh Rosie! She got so confused and angry with the turn of the events at the end and I don't blame her. She fancy Lysander but the Prince has manipulated his way into a marriage proposal that must be accepted. I am not sure I fully underhand the Prince. His family has faced mutiny and loss and he is very dedicated to his family and his responsibility. But I found it oddly sweet that he protected Rosie from the slander and accusations while admiring her unique qualities. Lysander is your typical man who is blinded by love and I am not sure what Rosie's heart will finally decide. I was lost in the city with the vivid description and the old time scandals and the plotting and the twists. Rosie is a firecracker and her POV made this book extra delicious.
Ps who knew ankle and knees are such erogenous spots...

This feels like saying goodbye to something favorite but also..I know this isn't the ending as the next generation is coming! Heavy Crown definitely surprised me as Sebastian has to take charge of the mafia kingdom he never wanted and my heart aches for him. There is so much grief, loss, heartbreak and dramatic changes for him. And I am so happy that he found Yelena as his happily ever after. She is a beautiful contradiction of sweet and fierce, light and dark, vulnerable but strong..And Sebastian was her savior in so many ways. Though at the end, I couldn't tell who saved who ..or if love saved them both.
Yelena Yenina is the pretty Pawn to be used by his father, the head of the Bratva. He wants to take revenge and take down the Gallos. And Yelena has to act like his puppet..to infiltrate Sebastian's life and seduce him. But she doesn't want to do that, especially when her father's scheme forces her to spend time with Sebastian and she falls for the amazing guy he is. Sebastian has been warned about the danger of Bratva but on the day of their marriage, he realises how evil the Bratva is. He doesn't trust Yelena and his only mission is vengeance.
Sebastian's dream to be a pro basketball player shattered along with hid knee cap during a mission for family. He never wanted to be a part of this dangerous violent world but all his siblings have slowly distanced themselves as they found love. He started taking care of the kingdom. He holds no resentment, just a sense of loneliness. Yelena entered like a meteor in his atmosphere..blazing all the things in sight but also the darkness after the light. The betrayal and loss broke him. Somewhere inside he knew that Yelena wasn't at fault. She isn't the one who destroyed a big part of his family. But he was blinded by anger and grief. It exposed a ruthless and explosive side of him. He emerged as the true king as he made Strategies, collected Alliance and eliminated his enemies mercilessly. Yelena may have be used by her evil father but she fought at every step to show Sebastian that she is nothing like her father. Her loyalty and devotion lies with Sebastian. She was a beautiful asset before but she is Sebastian's love now. He showed her that life isn't all about sadness and submission. Sebastian truly cherished her. The last few chapters were breathtaking. Twists and turns. Angst and passion. And finally that epic epilogue!

A Vicious Proposal is a very interesting blend of dark, twisted and humorous. Reese and Van has this sharp banter going on that somehow elevates their enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity dynamics. An arsonist vigilante turned elite attorney, a hacker with good intention and tragic past and a love that was born out of their sadness, grief and need for each other's darkness.
I was expecting a darker story from the cover and the Blurb and the teasers. This definitely has some dark moments but it is not a dark romance. Arsonist Vigilante Van Gogh aka now district attorney Alistair Cain forces Reese Carmichael to marry him..as a punishment for the betrayal that he thinks Reese did to him years ago. Reese is also hacker with golden heart with robinhood complex and Van knows all her secrets. As Reese gets to know the hidden parts of the twisted mam she once loved..it appears this punishment will make her fall for Van again. But will Van accept his feels?
I love Reese so much. She has come from a dark past where survival was most important and she is still struggling to balance everything in her life. Searching for her sister, using her skill to take away from the rich and corrupt , working for a job and now..a forced marriage to a man who promises retribution. In middle of this mess, she stands tall and fights constantly. I love her sass and then her sweetness when it comes to accepting her deranged husband. Van is an antihero you won't be able to hate. He leads an interesting life with a found family and some equally deranged "brothers". Controlled chaos and crafted Violence are his weapons..even now when he is fighting injustice within the law. He is a bit...crazy? And don't you love a hero with red flags. He once trusted Reese and gave his heart in secret but some misunderstandings made him hate Reese. And Van's hate can be real toxic and corrosive. But Reese broke down his walls. The hate-love-lust banter between Van and Reese is just epic and I think it's Kristy Marie's USP. Van wants to hurt Reese but really cannot go too far because she owns his heart and heaven forbid someone else tries to play with her...he is ready to burn them down, literally. I am excited to read about other brothers because they seem off the charts twisted and I live for such flawed characters.
